Three. Two. One. Here we go. Hey, UknownHero here and welcome to another chapter of A Simple Mission Rebirth. Honestly, I've been finding it hard to write this arc, even if I'm just following the RWBY episodes and Volume 3 still gives me slight PTSD. So with Volume 7 out now and Penny's obvious return (I mean, come on, they had to have backups of her so I wasn't too hung up over her death and if they didn't that is just sheer stupidity) so now I'm gonna keep writing. Also, I sort of started working on the future children arc type thing when I thought about the future of this story and I already created the characters. Just some thoughts I had to write down.

Anyways, let's get onto the reviews! To Jon: Nope. Qrow doesn't know. Not yet at least. Or are you referring to Qrow knowing Raven was there? To ChronoHyperion: The SCP Foundation? In this wacky universe of A Simple Mission Rebirth, all anime and shows exist as long as they don't conflict in the main story. Like No More Heroes and Devil May Cry. To Dragon Ride 66: Hehehe... I actually based off her fighting styles off of Majima from Yakuza 0. Bandit = Thug, Huntress = Slugger, Maiden = Breaker and Life... Life is based off Kiryu's Dragon style actually. I even had her do one of the Heat Actions.

Okay, that's it for the questions. Now for some answers!

Chapter 29: A Simple Learning

In an elegant twilit pavilion area of ivy-covered pillars, rounded archways, and lion-decorated fountains, Weiss Schnee and her elder sister Winter sat at a simple table with a plate full of croissants and strawberries.

"You're... leaving?" Weiss exclaimed as Winter sipped from her teacup.

This was both the best and worst news she ever received since she returned to Remnant. Winter leaving meant she would discover that her sister died, got reincarnated as a Devil and had nearly died several times since.

On the other hand, Winter was her sister and her leaving as soon as she came broke her heart. She was the only thing left that gave her a sense of… normalcy.

No Devil shit, no dealing with the supernatural. Just two siblings enjoying their time with each other.

Winter set her cup down. She was expecting this reaction from the Heiress. "Yes. I was merely needed to oversee the transport of additional units to Vale. Our last shipment was lost to an ambush. I believe you had a run-in with its cargo, actually." She explained. "It's fortunate those Paladins were in the prototype stage; otherwise your team may not have fared so well."

Weiss sighed and looked down dejectedly, Winter grabbed her sister's hand reassuringly. "Weiss, you've done... well, out here, on your own. You should be proud. I'll be honest, it was quite amusing seeing Father's face the day you left for Beacon! And to discover that you were chosen for such an important mission." Winter stated.

Weiss had to stop herself from pointing out that the mission she had gone on was not something she should be proud of.

It only reminded her that Issei had seen her naked.

The Heiress then straightened up and forced out a smile while trying desperately not to blush. "I can't wait to show him what I learned!" Weiss got out as she crossed her arms. If could only tell Winter that knew magic, genuine magic, it would cause her and Father to flip.

"Oh? Then what do you think you've learned?" Winter asked.

"What do you mean? I'm getting better and better with my glyphs! I've even started Time Dilation and more!" Weiss answered, though Winter noticed that her sister wasn't looking at her.

"And more? Does that include your Summoning?" Winter then questioned as she stared intently at her sibling.

Suddenly, mental glass shattered within Weiss' mind.

Oh.

Right.

That.

"Well… I… Um…" Weiss stammered out before sighing. "You know I can't." She then stated.

That wasn't technically true though. Weiss knew how to summon, just not the type summoning Winter was thinking of…

Winter couldn't help but scoff at that. "Don't be ridiculous. Every Schnee has the ability to summon. We have for generations."

Weiss had to bite the inside of her lip as she splayed her hands. "I've tried! It's just... it's the one thing I've been having trouble with!"The Heiress exasperatedly cried.

Hell, this was hard. She so wanted to show Winter her version of Summoning, but it would only raise questions and eventually outing herself. How would Winter react? Would she disown her? Would she freak out?

Would she try and kill her?

"We Schnee's are unique. Unlike many, our Semblance is hereditary. But that doesn't mean it will come easily." Winter stated as she lifted her hand to summon a small, elaborate glyph over her palm. "Your Semblance is like a muscle. The more you practice with it, the stronger it will become. But if you only focus on one aspect of it..."

The glyph suddenly expanded in a bright flash, causing Weiss to turn away before looking back up in awe at the white-and-blue Beowolf now at her sister's side.

"If you fail to test the limits of what you think is possible, then you'll never truly grow." Winter concluded.

Weiss could only smile at this display of power.

If only she could show Winter her own display of power…

Meanwhile… elsewhere…

The air was tense as the two glared at each other.

This was not going to be a friendly match.

It was going to be a bloodbath.

Even the Rating Games could not compare to the intensity the two fighters exhumed.

"You'll never beat me, old man!" Issei shouted out, a fire burning in his eyes.

"You're nothing but talk, kid!" Qrow countered as he gave the Boosted Gear wielder a cocky smirk.

"You can do it, Issei!" Yang cheered on.

"Yeah! Kick my uncle's ass!" Ruby called out.

It was a peaceful day within Team RWBY's dorm room at Beacon Academy, spending the day playing video games. They had watched the match between Mercury and Emerald against Coco and Yatsuhashi. It was a hard fought match, but ultimately Mercury and Emerald's pragmatism won in the end. Ruby did feel sad about Team CFVY's loss, but there was no helping it.

So, afterwards, Blake found herself dragged into hanging out with the girls of Rias' peerage, Weiss was with her sister, Kiba was taking Zwei for a walk, Pancakes was still with JNPR taking care of Pyrrha while the rest trained, Raven had called and said that she was going to be busy for a while and Penny was still dealing with business from her creator.

Only Issei was available to hang out with Ruby, Yang and Qrow.

After relentless teasing from her uncle about Issei being her boyfriend, they were now facing each other in the greatest fighting game available in Remnant...

Electric Thunder Tiger III Triple Tri PLUS Three.

"Electro Triple Star wins! Flawless Victory!" The announcer called out just as Issei's character, Mr. Doppleganger, was blasted into dust. Qrow grinned at his victory as the pervert lowered his head in shame.

"Ouch." Yang whispered out with a wince as Qrow's character dabbed, repeatedly, on the loser's ashes. That was worse than losing.

"And by the way, don't ever call me old." Qrow stated as Issei dropped the controller.

"I am sorry I could not defend your honour, Ruby-sensei!" Issei cried out in a dramatic fashion.

"It is okay, young grasshopper, you are still learning." Ruby comforted her friend as Yang took his spot.

"My turn!" Yang got out as she spun the controller around.

Ruby and Yang's uncle only cracked his knuckles and rolled his neck as the game began. "Now, where was I?"

Ruby popped up from behind the two players excitedly. "You were telling us about your last mission!" His niece reminded.

Seeing that it was bonding moment between the three, Issei stepped outside to find a vending machine.

That's where he spotted Jaune and Pancakes, with Jaune grabbing himself a can of People Like Grapes. He seemed rather nervous.

"Hey, Jaune-san." Issei greeted as he approached the two.

"Oh. Issei, g-good to see you." Jaune replied before shotgunning the entire can. "Aaaahhhh…"

"P-Pancakes." Issei greeted the former Fallen Angel.

"My name is Pancakes." Pancakes answered with a curt nod. Issei couldn't help but cringe but hid it as soon as Jaune ordered another soda.

"So… um… how's your team going with your training?" Issei asked.

"It's… going well. We're just taking a break right now." Jaune answered. "But Pyrrha's been acting weird lately."

This got Issei's attention. "How so?"

"Well, uh… she seems a little unfocused. I don't know. Though, I can't really say much about that…" Jaune mumbled out. "Just… I'm scared…"

"Is it about the tournament or your date with Weiss-san?" Issei guessed.

"The date." The blonde sighed out. "I mean… Weiss doesn't even give me the time of day anymore. I just want to be her friend but… I feel like if I do anything, she'll just hate me."

"Weiss-san isn't that bad. I'm sure if you try, you'll succeed. I mean, people didn't expect me to get a date but… um... never mind." Issei got out before shutting himself up.

"Oh, well… do you mind giving some tips? What can I do to get Weiss to like me?" Jaune asked.

The first thing that came to Issei's mind was compliment Weiss' breasts. She seemed to have some self-esteem issues about them ever since they became Devils.

Then he remembered how Pyrrha was taking the whole date with Weiss thing.

So he decided and gave him the worst advice he could give the Dork Knight.

"Don't plan anything. Just… go with your gut." Issei answered.

"Really?" Jaune got out, giving him a skeptical look.

"Y-Yeah. It worked for me." Issei lied as he glanced over Jaune's shoulder to see Pancakes staring at them with her ever-present blank look. "Swimmingly."

"I don't know, man. I mean, if it sucks-"

"Hey, I'm sure Weiss-san will like you for who you are. It'll be fine." Issei, once again, lied. He really didn't want to lie, but he felt like he had to.

He was many things, but overall he was an honest man.

Although he wasn't particularly close to Ruby's first Bishop, he knew her well enough that Weiss had very high expectations and, in all honesty, Jaune would crash and burn if he tried to live up to those types of expectations.

It wasn't like Weiss would fall in love in one day.

The Boosted Gear wielder and the blonde talked a little bit more before he returned to the dorm with soda in hand…

Just in time to see Yang's humiliating defeat.

"I was defeated... by the mere sight... of the innkeeper's skirt length!" Qrow dramatically declared, only for Yang to throw a dog-head pillow in his face. Though, he caught as he finished off Yang's fighter with a Strawberry Chocolate Sundae and the announcer saying "Electro Triple Star wins! Flawless Victory!"

"Aw come on, what did I miss!?" Issei complain, only to get hit in the face by the same dog-head pillow, courtesy of Ruby.

"You are the worst!" Yang got out as Ruby laughed at both dragons while Issei took a seat on Weiss' bed.

"Best two out of three?" Qrow challenged, ready for more.

Ruby still had more questions as she sat herself next to Issei. "So, Uncle Qrow, did you get in trouble with Ozpin?"

"Nah, me and Oz go way back. We're cool." Her uncle replied non-chalantly, waving off the question.

"Cool for an old guy." The Brawler scoffed.

"Not funny." Qrow got out with a frown.

"So, what are you doing here anyway? I thought Dad said that you would be on a mission, for like... ever." Ruby questioned.

"Well, a professional Huntsman like myself is expected to get results, as soon as possible." Qrow answered as he and Yang went for another round, Yang's eyes burning with determination.

"Yeeeeaaaah, I get that." Ruby laughed out. "We're pretty much pros, too."

"Oh, really?"

"Counter, Yang!" Issei quickly warned, throwing Yang off her rhythm and got herself beaten to a quarter of her health. "Oops."

Although annoyed by the pervert's interruption, Yang let out a smirk "Psch, yeah! Read the news sometime. We totally saved Vale while you were gone." She bragged. Qrow couldn't help but notice that she didn't mention the mission outside of Remnant.

"Funny, because I heard Vale suffered a Grimm attack after you almost managed to stop a train." Qrow pointed out before he leaned over to rub it in his niece's face. Yang scowled at the repeated "Electro Triple Star wins! Flawless Victory!" coming from the game. "But they don't give out medals for almost."

"They do, and it's called silver!" Ruby pointed out, her own silver eyes glowing slightly.

Qrow tried to hide it, but he was starting to get a little worried.

He knew about the medical checkups, so maybe he sneak in and grab a copy…

"Well, we helped take down Roman Torchwick!" Yang then got out. "He's locked up in Ironwood's ship and crime's been down ever since! That's basically a bounty mission!"

"Sure, you may be acting like Huntresses, but you're not thinking like one. You really think four girls and their friends could end all crime in a Kingdom?" Qrow asked with a frown.

"No." Ruby answered, surprising the others. "But we can at least try, right?"

Qrow let out a sigh and narrowed his eyes at the red wearing girl. He was expecting more… innocent response. "At least you're being realistic but violence hasn't dropped since Roman got nabbed; it's stopped, completely. No White Fang activity around the city. You cut off the head of the King Taijitu, but now the second head's calling the shots. That's what Ironwood can't get through that thick metal head of his."

"Wait's a Taijitu?" Issei whispered to Ruby.

"We'll show you later." Ruby replied, causing Issei to gain a confused look.

Yang looked over to her King and gave her a look. "You... know the General?" She asked in surprise.

"Hey, I know everybody to some extent." Qrow got out, back to his joking manner. "Remember, you're talking to a member of the coolest team that graduated Beacon!"

He then reached into his back pocket and pulled out a photo lined with stains and age of four figures: himself, Raven, Ruby and Yang's dad, and a woman in a white cloak.Yang's eyes widened and he sighed in remembrance. Looking at this photo always made him nostalgic. "Hah, Team STRQ... That's where I met your parents. We were pretty well known back in the day."

"Well known for crummy fashion sense!" Ruby joked, though Qrow did notice the flash of sadness in Ruby's eyes.

"Hey, we looked good! And I have a number of inappropriate stories to back that up!" Qrow stated as he wiggled his eyebrows suggestively, but noticed Yang continuing to stare at the picture with an odd look on her face and put it away. "But, I'll save those for when you're older."

"Oh, gross!" Ruby recoiled in disgust, but then saw Issei who looked a little interested. She gave him a slap in the arm for that.

Qrow checked the time and got up, heading for the door. "Anyways, I'm too old to be hanging out with a bunch of kids. You're gonna cramp my style. Issei, you better treat my niece right."

"We're not dating!" Ruby shouted out as she threw the dog-head pillow again. Qrow just laughed and dodged it. However, he slowly stopped and sighed, looking at his two nieces.

"Look, just remember that you've still got a long way to go... And don't think for a second that graduating means you're done." Qrow got out in a serious tone as he hitched a thumb over his shoulder. "Every day out there is worth a week in this place. You two, you're gonna go far. But only if you keep learning; if you never stop moving forward."

With these immortal words of wisdom, Qrow exited down the hall.

"We have, Uncle Qrow. You just don't know how far we've come already." Ruby whispered out as Yang placed a hand on her sister's shoulder. "But that we've come so far, how can we ever start again?"

"Only memories will lead us back, and we can't just pretend." Yang muttered out. "…You really think we're ready to live in Remnant now, Ruby?"

"…I think it's more like if Remnant's ready for us." Ruby replied, looking down at her hands.

"I'M!" Ruby yelled out as she reared back her fist, the Power of Suffering concentrated into it. "SORRY!" She wailed as she slammed it into the dragon's brain.

"Uh… Hey, how about another game. I want to see what Eight Hearts can do." Issei spoke up, trying to break the awkwardness.

Ruby and Yang sighed before returning to the game. It was best not to think about it now.

Meanwhile, a raven perched itself on the window outside, staring at the room within.

'No… Not yet, Raven.' The Bandit thought before flying away.

Back in the pavilion, Weiss pointed Myrtenaster at the ground, creating a rotating glyph made of blade symbols. Winter was behind her, watching over everything the Heiress was doing.

"Excellent form! Now think to your fallen foes! The ones who forced you to push past where you were, and become who you are now." Winter got out, but quickly noticed that the glyph was beginning to flicker in and out of existence. "Think of them, and watch as they come to your side."

Weiss grimaced as she began to do just that.

Beowolf.

Sabyr.

Beringel.

Nevermore.

Boarbatusk.

Death Stalker.

Fallen Angels.

Raynare.

Freed.

Vizor.

Raiser.

Yang.

"GAH!" Weiss screamed out as the glyph shattered, falling to her knees and clutching her head.

She couldn't do it. She just couldn't do it. After everything that happened, from her reincarnation to the fight with the dragon, she just couldn't do it.

Winter quickly got worried, seeing the state Weiss was in. Something was wrong, very wrong. "W-Weiss… Maybe we should end it here today."

Those snapped Weiss out of it.

"No." Weiss growled as she stood back up. "I won't give up just like that…"

"Weiss." Winter got out with a frown. "You shouldn't-"

"Winter, if I can't summon, then I'll have no chance at succeeding as a Huntress." Weiss got out as she got into the proper stance once again. "I will die before I become his receptionist. And like Hell I need his charity!" She declared.

Seeing that her little sister wasn't going to back down, Winter decided to shift to a different problem. "But you do need his money, don't you?"

"What!? How did you know about that!?" Weiss exclaimed.

"Lucky guess." Winter replied. "I may have been in a similar situation when I joined the military. So what have you done this time?"

Weiss sighed as Winter circled aroundher. "Well, that's the thing: I'm really not sure! I went to pay for lunch the other day, but the card didn't work!" She explained. She really didn't need to deal with her father right now.

"How embarrassing." Winter got out.

"I know!" Weiss groaned out before seeing Winter shaking her head. "Well, it was! Why would he cut me off like that?"

"Perhaps so that you'd stop avoiding him and call home." Winter simply suggested.

Instead of answering, however, Weiss went back into the proper stance and created a summoning glyph, gritting her teeth.

Beowolf.

Sabyr.

Beringel.

Nevermore.

Boarbatusk.

Death Stalker.

Fallen Angels.

Raynare.

Freed.

Vizor.

Raiser.

Yang.

Yang.

YANG!

Neither Weiss or Winter notice that her Summoning Glyph was starting to gain a red tint before the older sibling placed a consoling hand on her little sister's shoulder.

"Emotions can grant you strength. But you must never let them overpower you." Winter calmly stated as theattempted glyph flickered and faded once more, though neither of them pay it any attention to it. "It sounds to me like you have two choices in front of you. You can call him, beg for his money back, and explain once more why you would want to study at Beacon over Atlas, or you could continue to explore Remnant, discovering more about the world and honestly, more about yourself."

Weiss' eyes widened at that.

Now that she thought about it… there was always another option…

"It's time for me to go." Winter said as she gave her sister a hug, which she returned in spades.

"It was really good to see you, Winter." Weiss replied as she broke off from the embrace.

Maybe it was for the best… if she never knew…

"Until next time, sister." Winter got out as she gave Weiss a sad smile.

The two Schnees walk out of the pavilion and go in opposite directions, neither of them noticing a miniature dragon's fang before disappearing into icy sparkles.

That is… until…

Weiss decided otherwise.

"…Wait." Weiss suddenly spoke up. "I want to show you one more thing."

"Hm? Well, maybe just one more but please make this quick." Winter replied after checking the time.

"You're the only one I can trust with this but… but…" Weiss muttered out as she poked her fingers together.

This was a huge mistake.

A really huge mistake.

"Oh, did you get yourself a significant other?" Winter guessed with a teasing smile.

"No! Nnnooo…! F-Far from it!" Weiss sputtered out with a blush. "It's just… It's a new glyph I've been working on."

"A new glyph? Have you begun learning more advanced glyphs than Time Dilation?" Winter asked.

"No… It's… More like I made a new glyph…" Weiss weakly replied, not exactly looking at her sister.

Winter's eyes widened. This was unexpected. "A-A new… Weiss, that's amazing!" Winter praised as she held onto her sister's shoulders. "Will you show it to me?"

"…T-The thing is... Um…" Weiss stammered out. She was already past the point of no return. She couldn't back out of this.

Time to face the music.

"Stand back." Weiss said as she started creating an Entrance Glyph underneath her.

Winter couldn't help but notice the red tint to the glyph and… certain symbols she's never seen. It wasn't in any language she recognized. However, what really caught her by surprise was the symbol in the middle.

"A… rose…?" Winter whispered out as her eyes widened.

Wasn't that on the red-wearing girl's outfit?

Weiss closed her eyes as her Teleportation Glyphs activated. When she opened her eyes, she was four feet away from where she was.

"…I can teleport by creating an entrance and an exit. However… It's more akin to summoning myself and others." Weiss explained as she walked back to where she was.

"Summoning?" Winter gasped out.

Weiss closed her eyes, bracing herself for the worst. "Winter… That mission I was on… I died on that mission." She choked out.

Right before bringing out her demonic wings.

"But… only my humanity. I am Weiss Schnee, and I am a Devil."

Save Game... Quit!

Yep. Another set-up chapter. The parts I wanna get to are still a little bit away. From the Jaune and Weiss date to how the Fall of Beacon will end. Those are the parts I want to get to. It's just getting there needs all of this crap. I can cut out some parts that I find unnecessary but I might end up with a smaller chapter. And with how I'm planning for the doubles match to end, it would be way too short. There's also the Angel's story that I want to conclude after the arc ends. That's what I planned for this arc.

Though, didn't plan on revealing to Winter...

UknownHero signing off, my friends.
