Chapter 8

8:00 p.m.

Renee fried some salmon on a propane grill.

"It's almost ready."

Daisy sat at the stern with a 5 gallon bucket at to her with chopped fish guts.

Every 2 minutes Daisy would dish out a spoonful of the fish guts overboard to attract the shark. The smell made she gag.

"Huh?" said Daisy as an oversized black dorsal fin appeared at the surface of the water."Renee! It's here!"

Renee ran out from the galley to the stern.

"Holy shit!"

The shark poked his snout about the water and the girls got a good look at the fish.

Instead of a blue body with a white belly, it had a black body with a white belly.

'Black demon' Renee thought.

"A shark the size of a blue whale?" said Daisy.

"This is incredible!"

The shark grinned at the girls and dove under the surface.

Renee ran to the harpoon gun at the bow.

"Daisy! Did you hook up the barrels like I asked you?"

"Yeah," said Daisy as she ran to the bow, "I connected 4 barrels to each harpoon. Do you have time to explain what the point of this it?"

"My dad was a whaler before he went away to world war 2. It's a technique I learned from him. The barrels will wear him down and it should make it a lot easier to kill him.

He'll tire himself out with these barrels."

Renee loaded a harpoon into the gun.

"Come on you bastard.'

Shark swam along side the port side as Daisy steered the boat. "That's one fast fish. It must be going 45 mph.

Renee aimmed the harpoon gun and fired.

The harpoon struck the black dorsal fin and the line pulled the first row of barrels out of the boat.

"Four barrels!" Renee yelled, "That should begin to tire him out."

"Hook up the next harpoon!" Yelled Daisy, "This is a big fucker! We must pull as many barrels as we can on him!"

Renee loaded another harpoon into the gun as the dorsal fin disappeared under the surface with the barrels.

"Shit!" yelled Daisy, "Where did he go?"

"Cocksucking mother fucker!" Said Renee. "We've got one row of barrels on him. We can stay out here until we find him again."
