Chapter 6
Suddenly she felt his heavy body falling over against hers. As she wasn't prepared for it the two of them went down.
"Sawyer..."- Ana-Lucia called while she was dealing with all his body weight all over hers. Sawyer had fainted and the fact he was completely unconscious that very moment made it obvious that he didn't have any control over his weight.
"Oh, my God!"- She exclaimed while she was trying to make her away out from under him. She was feeling crushed.
She finally managed to drag herself to the side but she was careful to not let his body hit too hard on the ground. When she was free, Ana-Lucia checked his vital signs. She felt his pulse but it was weak.
"Oh no, Sawyer! You're the only human being that I've found in this damn island and now you want to leave me? No way, man!"
She ran back to her little improvised shelter and got some drinking water. She went back to him then and got her fingers wet in the water and ran them over his lips. Soon she tried to make him drink a little bit. Despite his unconsciousness, Ana-Lucia managed to get Sawyer to drink some water.
"Atta boy!".- She said with a smile.
She went back to her shelter one more time and built some sort of transport for him using a blanket and some rope she found earlier among the plane's wreckage and used to bring him to her temporary home.
She made use of all her absolute strength and experience from the time she volunteered in the service of support and rescue from the LA police to safely transport him; the inferior part of his body she laid in the blanket avoiding that way that his skin got into much contact with the sand during his removal. The superior part of his body she rested in her own back, using part of the rope to tie his arms with hers.
When she finally got in front of her shelter, she carefully placed him on the ground and loosed the rope that tied them together by their arms. She took a long sigh of relief when she released herself from his body weight. Ana-Lucia then got another blanket and improvised a bed for him also using cushions from the airplane.
"Here, drink some more water."- She said forcing his lips to open and pouring more water inside his throat using a piece of a wet fabric that had been cut from a shirt.
Sawyer coughed a little bit but he was able to swallow the vital liquid.
"Yes, that's very good!"- Ana praised him touching his sweaty hair. "You better wake up soon, cowboy because I'll need your help to get the hell out of here."

Sawyer blinked his eyes. He felt bothered by the sunlight straight into his pupils. He blinked many times as he finally placed a hand on his face covering it. He turned on his side and realized that from that angle the sun wasn't bothering as much anymore. He looked around and noticed that he was under a plastic blue tarp. He felt his lips burning and instinctively touched them. They were cracked.
He felt a sharp pain down his throat. He coughed and tried to get up. His head reached the tarp. He looked to the front and saw miles and miles of white and fluffy sand. He carefully sat and looked down to the other side towards the beach. He heard the sound of the ocean and saw the waves hitting the rocks. That's when the airplane crash came back to his mind and he realized he wasn't dreaming. That beach was very real. His plane had fallen on an island and he seemed to be the only survivor until he met…
"Ana..."- He murmured. His voice was a bit broken. He was still feeling spasms of pain in his throat. Would had really been possible that him and Ana-Lucia, the girl he met at the Cocktail Bar and with whom he spent the most exciting night of his life was on the same plane as his with both surviving to same plane crash or he would be hallucinating about it because he wanted to see her again so much?
He decided to stand up and reevaluate the situation. The way that the tarp was covering him showed that someone tried to build a shelter against the soon; also there were interesting objects around the place such as full water bottles and a tub of sunscreen.
Sawyer got on his knees and with some struggle he was able to get up but soon he felt his head spinning until a vision made him to focus to the front. A short brunet woman with long dark hair was coming out of the ocean wearing only what seems to be a black lingerie. When she saw him she smiled.
He forgot to breathe. The girl from the bar was really there after all. They've met before and he fainted. He remembered.
"Sawyer!"- She shouted and ran towards him.
"Hey, you!"- He said trying to keep himself on his feet.
"Hey, don't go fainting again."- She said holding him by his arm. "Sit…"
Sawyer accepted her suggestion and sat on the sand.
"I can't believe you're here..."- He said.
Ana-Lucia offered him water that he drank in small sips.
"I thought you're going to say I can't believe we survived to a plane crash."
"I'm thinking more about the coincidence of us being in the same flight and both surviving."- Sawyer added. "Were you traveling with your husband?"
"Husband?"- Ana retorted while raising her eyebrow.
"Your boss."- He said. "The man you were looking for when you went to the bar. Ya can tell me, I ain't judging you."
She shook her head.
"He was really my boss."- She answered. "And no, he wasn't traveling with me."
"I looked for you."- Sawyer said. "The following day I went back to the parking lot of that building to see if you were there getting your car back."
"Sawyer..."- She said a little concerned watching his face suddenly turning pale."
"I've asked you to stay..."
Ana touched his head.
"You're burning..."- She said.
"I wanted to see you again..."- He continued saying, his eyes were going glazed.
"Sawyer, drink some more water!"- She asked but he fainted again. She only had time to hold his head.

Sawyer woke up several hours later when it is already dark. He was having a nightmare. He saw the airplane walls breaking and the strength of the air from outside. He wanted to scream but the oxygen mask was in his mouth and he couldn't.
He screamed in his mind.
"Ahhhhhhh! Ahhhhhhh!"
"Hey, Sawyer!"- He heard Ana-Lucia's voice. "You're ok, wake up!"
Ele abriu os olhos e se deparou com ela encarando-o. Tinha uma das mãos em sua testa.
He opened his eyes and saw her facing him. She had one of her hands on his forehead.
"Sawyer!"
He blinked several times trying to absorb the situation once again.
"You might have had a concussion. You seem so confused. What do you remember from the accident?"
"I was stuck on the top of a tree."- He told her. "The tree was very tall and I had to go down…"- He stopped talking for a few seconds and then he asked her: "What about you?"
"I was stuck in the cabin between two dead bodies."- She answered. "I had to get out of there before…"
Sawyer held her hand.
"Did you find any survivors?"
"I found a woman dying."- She told him. "She died in front of me."
She didn't notice when it started but soon she was crying as she remembered everything that happened from the moment she woke up in the cabin until the death of that woman when she realized she was completely alone. But now, Sawyer was there and she felt emotional.
"They're all dead."- She said as she sobbed.
Sawyer came closer to her and hugged her, saying: "But we're alive and we're going to get out of here together."
Ana-Lucia snuggled into his arms. Sawyer cried too. He was still feeling very confused; maybe she was right about him having a concussion but he knew their situation was very complicated. However in a crazy and inexplicable way he felt happy because he had found his girl from the Cocktail Bar when he thought he'd never see her again.
