The Legacy Has Arrived

Finn didn't quite know how the list ended up on his desk, but there it sat and it made him freeze on the spot. Before him was the rosters of each of the glee clubs competing against them at regionals, which included the Warblers. He looked at the list multiple times and the sickening feeling in his stomach didn't go away, if anything it grew stronger. While the Warblers normally competed with fourteen members, this year there were eighteen of them and from what he saw he knew the parents of most of them. Knowing he couldn't dwell on it as he had his own rehearsal to hold in a matter of hours, he took the list and headed for Mr. Schuester's office.

Upon reaching the principal's office, his secretary immediately noticed the look of concern on Finn's face and told him to go right on in. The moment he walked through the door and proceeded to close it, Mr. Schuester rose from his seat. "What's wrong Finn as you look pale as a ghost right now?" Will asked as he leaned against his desk. "Finn?" In that moment, he couldn't find the words and simply handed the list to him. After reading the list, he knew what was bothering him. "Are these boys who I believe them to be?"

"Yes, a good portion of the group is made up of what I've heard Rachel refer to as the Legacy boys as they've been dubbed. Meaning, they're the sons of the Warblers that won Nationals, though some are sons of Warblers from just ahead of them."

"Not to mention Rachel's and Mike's boys."

"Also add one of Quinn's sons into the mix, Maxwell Clarington. Not to mention, Santana's and Brittany's but their boys are part of the Legacy crew." Finn told him. "I don't want to sound pessimistic, but my kids don't stand a chance against them. Last year they were impossible to beat and now everything I've heard about this year's group makes even more sense."

"Are you sure you're not getting ahead of yourself Finn?" When Finn merely looked at him, Will sat down upon his desk.

"You heard and saw them last year, and look who they added among the Legacy boys. I know you saw his name at the very top and according to Rachel, he's every bit the performer his Dads are." Finn stated. "You and I both know she wouldn't say it if she didn't believe it."

"I know." Will replied. "You know you can't let your kids know how you feel or they won't even try."

"That's something I'm well aware of, it's part of the reason I came to talk to you as I knew you'd understand. I'm still in shock that Rachel and Mike each sent their sons to Dalton last year."

"From what she said when we spoke at sectionals last year, it was their decision." Will told him. "It didn't surprise either of them considering their group of friends, not to mention Jacob's godfather is Blaine." He then motioned for Finn to take a seat. "You need to go into regionals with the same mindset you've had all year."

"Easier said than done." Finn told him. "Facing the Warblers has never been easy, yet now…" Finn threw his hands up in the air as he wasn't sure what to say. "…now they're just…we always seem to come in second to them."

"That's something though given they've been going to Nationals. While I'd love for you to be the one going, it's not as though you've been losing to a bunch of hacks." Will said in response. "Do you know who is leading the Warblers at the moment as if memory serves me correctly, a senior usual leads them?"

"Benjamin Montgomery." Finn said in a tone that sounded rather defeated which Will caught. Once he tilted his head to the side, Finn continued. "His younger brother, Theodore, is the other Montgomery listed. Their Dad, happens to be Wes Montgomery."

"Why does that name sound familiar to me?"

"Maybe because he was leading the Warblers when Kurt went to Dalton." When Will sighed, Finn nodded. "And before you ask, he's close friends with Blaine."

"Those boys really did stay close to one another, didn't they?"

"They most certainly did, which is why those even with no Dalton ties went as they didn't want to be separated. Now, you know what we're up against."

"Just go into rehearsal today with a clear head." Will told him. "The last thing you can afford is to be distracted as you know your kids will pick up on it. Focus on the goal, not who you're going up against. The only thing you have control over is whether or not you're prepared."

"True, as we know they're going to be prepared, they always have been. At least that's something my kids that have competed against them are aware of. They've always been in awe of what they're capable of."

"Do you know if the parents are coming to town?"

"No, but they've always shown for past competitions, no reason this one would be any different, especially with so many of their boys competing at once. It's quite the moment."

"It most certainly is." Will said to him. "Then show them their boys aren't the only show in town. Remember, plenty of them have McKinley ties as well and are just as capable as Dalton as bringing it." The competitive glint in Will's eyes brought a smile to Finn's face. "You clearly understand."

"I do." Finn replied before rising to his feet. "Thank you, I knew I came to the right place."

"You did, and if you need a reminder…you know the door is always open." With that said, Finn headed on his way back to the choir room so that he could prepare for rehearsal as he knew he had quite the task ahead of him. And once he was gone, Will took a seat knowing all too well if these boys were anything like their fathers, they were going to come with everything they had.

While Finn was preparing for rehearsal, the Warblers were already assembled in their common room. "Order!" Ben exclaimed as he slammed the gavel down earning snickers from more than a few, particularly his council mates. No matter how much he stated he wasn't like his Dad, he was every bit Wes's son. "We need order!"

"Guys! Cállate!" Tyler yelled earning him a few looks but they soon settled down. While he looked a lot like Nick, he had Santana's personality for the most part which could be dangerous if he got riled up.

"Thank you." Ben said to which Tyler nodded. "Now, while this isn't usual business for us to discuss prior to rehearsal, the headmaster is curious if our parents are all coming to Regionals." When Devon laughed, Ben looked at him.

"Right, like they'd miss it." Devon replied. "Deny it they might, but they've dreamt of this moment as long as all of us wanted to come here and follow in their footsteps."

"No kidding." Ewan Harwood stated. "One question, why is the headmaster asking now, yet didn't for sectionals?"

"I honestly don't know." Ben said in response. "And since most were here for sectionals, regionals should be a given as it's the competition that decides whether or not we go to Nationals. Which in case some of you didn't notice, will bring us back home as its back in New York this year."

"We all noticed." Liam stated. "Hell, Xander even took notice and you all know his life is crazy busy."

"Before we veer further off track, should I tell the headmaster everyone's parents are coming?" Ben asked and they all replied in the affirmative. "Anyone else?"

"I'm pretty sure my grandparents are coming." Devon added, to which a bunch of the others did as well. "Oh, and I know my Dads are bringing Juliette, but I don't know if Ainsley is coming. So, if he's looking for the number of tickets to secure, we should check with our parents as I doubt mine are the only siblings that might be attending." Devon's words got the conversation going again, as much as some of the boys hated it, their friends had crushes on their older sisters.

When the room started to get louder, Ben had to rein them in once again or they'd never start rehearsal. With all that was going on aside from regionals, they couldn't afford to waste time or they'd all be up late studying. Much as it would be with their Dads, time flew and before they knew it the alarm they'd set had gone off and two hours had passed. Devon was reaching for his blazer on the back of the couch when Ben came walking up to him as the room emptied out. "Care to tell me what's on your mind as you've seem distracted since you walked into the room?"

Devon looked around before telling Liam, his roommate, he'd be there shortly before turning to look at Ben. "This is going to sound unlike me, but are you sure you want me doing lead on that song?" He asked before running his fingers through his hair. "I mean, I know we're all doing our part, but…"

"Devon, right now, you sound so much like your Dad. Particularly from the stories my Dad told me." Ben said to him. "You've got to know we wouldn't have given the song to you if we didn't believe you were capable of doing it."

"I know, it's just…that song is so…big."

"I know, yet we all chose it." Ben told him. "It defines who we are, who people believe we are. Either we embrace it or it means nothing. You of all people know it's best to embrace who you are rather than fight it." When Devon laughed, Ben smiled. "Exactly. You are every bit your Papa, yet you have so much of your Dad in you as well. What would your Dads do in a moment like this?"

"Embrace it. Papa would use it as a way to prove the doubters wrong in the most in your face way possible. And then my Dad would shake his head at him, though he'd be encouraging him from the get-go. He's as much of a show off as Papa, simply more subtle."

"Precisely! So tap into every bit of being their son and show everyone what you are capable of. Know, if I didn't believe you could do this, I wouldn't have put you in this spot."

"You made a good point. I hate it when you're right."

"You sound like Theo."

"Must have something to do with growing up with each other." Devon said before leaning back against the arm of the couch. "Heading the council with all of us as members can't be easy."

"Depends on the moment." Ben replied with a laugh. "It really isn't too bad, unless you're all being ridiculous and we need to work. Theo's the worst as he hates listening to his older brother."

"Do you blame him?"

"Not really, but there are times he needs to differentiate between me being his brother and leading the council."

"We try to remind him of that."

"I know, and I appreciate it. Now, are you feeling better?"

"I am. You know our parents are going to flip when they hear the song."

"I know, which is why we're not sharing our set list with them. I can already hear the lecture from my Dad about it." When Devon laughed again, Ben looked at him. "You know it's true."

"Trust me, I know and my Dad wouldn't be far behind. Meanwhile, Papa would love how in their face we're being."

"Like I said, we either embrace who we are, or it means nothing."

"Got it. I better get going as Liam's having issues with his French and well, I'm his go-to resource for enunciation."

"I wonder why." Ben said with a laugh earning him a patented Smythe smirk. "Get!" After Devon shot him a wink, he headed back towards his dorm room leaving Ben in the common room by himself. Once he had the room to himself, he headed towards the wall where the pictures were and took a close look at the reunion picture that was taken when they were all kids. It was the only picture not of a Warbler class, yet that group of individuals held a special place in everyone's hearts. Ben only hoped that after their parents seem them perform, they'd be as proud of them as they were of being their sons.

The next few months flew by, particularly with breaks factored in. Yet there they were days before regionals. "Bas, we're going to be late!" Blaine called out as he looked down at his watch for what seemed like the hundredth time since Sebastian arrived home. Of all the times for him to have a jury taking days to reach a verdict, it would be when they had a plane to catch. Any other time, Hunter or Thad would fill in for him, yet with them all going home it wasn't an option.

"Dad, you need to relax." Ainsley told him as she came walking around the corner. "Papa, is as stressed about this as you are." She added as she'd seen the look on his face when he came rushing in, all of them steering clear of him as he went to change as he refused to fly in a suit. When Blaine looked over at her, she smiled. "You know I'm right." No sooner did she answer, did they all hear him curse loudly in French before hobbling into the living room. "Did your client get off Papa?"

"Yes, thanks to some brilliant legal work by yours truly." Sebastian replied before leaning down to kiss Blaine. "Is the car here yet?" Blaine shook his head as he felt Sebastian's arm slip around his waist. Even all these years later, he had quite a soothing effect over him. "Then we're not late." He then pressed another kiss to the top of his head. "Do my girls have their homework packed to work on during the flight?" He looked between them and the girls nodded. "Good, can't have you slacking."

"Do you know what they're singing?" Juliette asked as she approached them.

"Not a clue." Blaine replied. "And I asked everyone else and none of the boys have let their set list slip. It's going to be a surprise for everyone."

"Wait, they were all able to keep their mouths shut?" Ainsley asked in surprise. "That's a new one." When Blaine and Sebastian laughed, she smiled. "See you know it too."

"Exactly, which is why it has us all really curious." Blaine told her as his phone went off. "Car is here, let's get going as we have a plane to catch."

The flight to Columbus went relatively quickly as all of them were keeping busy knowing once they landed things were going to get crazy. Shortly after picking up their rental car and heading on their way, Blaine received a call from Devon which surprised him. "Hey, what's going on?"

"Are you and Papa in town yet?"

"We are actually, we're on our way to Grandpa's and Nana's right now. Why, what's going on?"

"I was curious since you didn't give me your flight information."

"That would've been because Papa has been in court and we were waiting for the jury to come to a verdict."

"How stressed was he? Did a few more grey hairs appear?" When Blaine laughed, Sebastian glanced over at him before being met with a smile. "Don't worry, I won't say anything to him."

"If you value your well-being, that would be smart."

"They gave me every one of them!" Sebastian stated knowing darn well what had been said.

"They make you look distinguished Bas." Blaine then glanced back at the girls who were trying not to giggle as they knew their Papa was still adjusting to them. "Are we going to get to see you before the competition?"

"Probably not as we're having a group dinner tomorrow night." Devon replied. "You will see me afterwards as I planned on coming home for the weekend."

"That would be nice given we're in town. It would be nice to actually spend some time with you. Just know, we won't be offended should we not see you on Saturday evening depending on the outcome."

"You know us well."

"It's tradition." Blaine stated. "Are you guys ready?"

"We are, we feel good." Devon told him. "Just do us a favor?"

"You name it."

"Don't freak out when you hear our setlist."

"Why would we do that?"

"You'll understand once you hear us."

"Devon."

"Dad, it'll all make sense once we perform."

"Alright. Would you like to speak with Papa?"

"I'll talk to him later as I have some homework to finish up. Just wanted to see if you guys were in town yet."

"Well, we're here. We'll see you on Saturday Devon."

"I'll see you then." After ending his call, he looked over at Liam who was sitting on his bed. "Did you give your Dad a warning as well?"

"I did, similar to the one you just gave yours." Liam replied. "I'm pretty certain everyone is doing something similar. We're simply letting them know that our set might not be what they expect. Yet from a conversation I had with Xander, we're no different than they were. Our Dads pushed the envelope as far as they could. For so long, the Warblers played it safe which left them playing second fiddle to Vocal Adrenaline and the New Directions, even though for the most part, they were vocally superior. It wasn't until your Dads got together, did things start to drastically change."

"I remember hearing them talk about it." Devon said. "Hell, they even got your Mom to help them even though she was the competition."

"That they did." Liam said to him. "If we really think about it, we're being more arrogant than anything else."

"True, and if we fall, it's going to hurt in more ways than one."

By the time Saturday arrived, everyone was in town which brought its own special types of chaos. With the older kids all able to drive, it took a bit of convincing to get them to realize they all couldn't go on their own. So much as the parents hoped, Will and the girls all rode to Columbus together. "Do you know if they left for Columbus already?" Carolyn asked during the drive over as she and Gregory were more than happy to ride over with them.

"Given schedules are pretty set for competition, probably as one never wants to chance not having enough time to warm up." Sebastian replied before glancing at Blaine who was smiling. "Does it feel strange that you're going to see your Grandson compete in the same place you watched us do so?"

"Slightly." Gregory replied. "The strange part is knowing most of the boys up there, are related to those you went to school with."

"You sound like Cooper." Blaine said bringing a smile to Juliette's face as she adored her Uncle Cooper. "Ever since we sent them all off to Dalton, he can't help but comment."

"Probably because they are all so much like you boys." Carolyn told them. "All of us Grandparents have noticed it."

"Is that a good thing or a bad thing?" Sebastian asked.

"While they have their moments, it's a good thing Seb." Gregory replied. "All of you should be really proud, as they're all quite remarkable."

While the parents were on their way to Columbus, the Warblers were already situated in their assigned room relaxing as they still had time till they needed to start warming up. Ben had just finished speaking with his brother when he stopped and looked at the opened doorway. "Told you that they wouldn't have started warming up yet." Xander said to Bella, as they entered the room. "We're not disturbing you, are we?" Liam was quick to shake his head before walking towards his brother to give him a hug, much as Ben and Theo were doing with their sister. "Just so you guys know, there are a few other people that wanted to say hi but I recommended they wait till after you perform

"Like who?" Devon asked as he stretched in his chair.

"Like, most of your siblings since just about everyone is in town." Xander replied as he slipped his arm around his brother's shoulders. "Having gone through this, I thought the last thing you all needed was everyone coming to check on you."

"We appreciate that." Ewan told him and the others all agreed. "Do you know if our parents are here yet?"

"From what I'm aware of, they are all still on their way." Xander said in response. "Though, they should be here soon. Yet, you don't have to worry about them coming by as they all know it's best to be left alone."

"Yet you're here." Maxwell replied with a smirk that was so much his father.

"Considering me a liaison, and Bella, the same as some of the Moms would prefer a ladies perspective on how you're all doing." That's something they could all understand and given two of her brothers were in the group it made sense. "What do you guys think your chances are?"

"Strong, yet anything is possible." Ben replied trying not to sound overly confident. "You know that."

"I do." Xander said to him. "You guys should all know, keeping your set list private has everyone curious."

"Once you hear it, you'll understand." Tyler told him, causing him to laugh. "Let me guess, you've heard that response."

"I have, not only from my Dad, but numerous Uncles. I honestly believe they're more curious than the Moms which is saying a lot."

"Like I told my Dads the other night, once you hear us, you'll know why we're acting in this manner." Devon told him. "Everything will make sense once we're done."

"If not, you're going to have a lot of explaining to do." Xander told them as his phone went off. "Well, we need to get going as that was Gabby letting me know the families are arriving so we will be leaving you." Once the two of them left, Ben closed the door and they gathered in the center of the room to begin their warm-up. While they always put pressure on themselves, this time around they'd amplified it with their behavior. When Xander and Bella reached the lobby, he understood why Gabby had texted him as it was a madhouse with so many of them in one place. "It was crazy when I was a Warbler, but this is insane." He said as they made their way towards their parents who happened to be talking. "Yet I guess that's what happens when everyone has a son in the group."

"You think?" Bella said with a laugh before making her way alongside her Dad who slipped his arm around her. "You can relax Dad, their fine."

"Fine is relative." Wes stated before glancing over at Jeff and Sebastian. "Speaking of, where is Blaine as I haven't seen him yet?"

"Speaking with Hunter as this is all new for him since Will didn't go to Dalton. He's giving him a quick lesson as to how the Warblers do things." Sebastian replied earning him a look. "Yes, I know most would expect me or Thad to be doing it, but Blaine's touch is needed in this moment." When Jeff laughed loudly, Sebastian smiled. "You understood that, didn't you?"

"I do." Jeff replied. "He's stressed so you essentially sent Blaine to shrink him instead of letting Quinn do the honors."

"Essentially." Sebastian told him, earning a laugh from everyone else who now understood. "Honestly, how are they?"

"Nervous, but it's expected." Xander told them. "They clearly have something up their sleeves as they wouldn't even hint at their set list."

"Does anyone have the performance schedule?" Wes asked and as he did, Nick came walking up with it in hand. "How long do we have to wait?"

"They're going on last so it's going to be a long day." Nick stated. "Also, we're going to see Vocal Adrenaline as well as the New Directions."

"Brittany had mentioned that to me." Jeff said as he took the program from Nick. "They're the last three so, talk about needing to make their performance memorable." While he spoke, Blaine made his way over as Hunter was speaking with Quinn and Mike. "How is he?"

"Better." Blaine replied. "A lot of it stems from the fact Quinn is really nervous. She's been flooded with memories of her first regionals. Not to mention, going up against the New Direction feels a bit, awkward. It's one of the things she's talking with Mike and Rachel about since they went through it last year."

"Understandable." Jeff told him. "It was weird for Britt the first time Xander competed against them. Not only did we see Finn, but Mr. Schuester comes to support them as well." He then looked at Nick. "Speaking of, where are our wives?"

"Over with the fab four." Nick said before pointing over to where Madison, Ainsley, Brianna, and Will stood. "Now that you know, where are my sister and Thad?"

"Speaking with your parents which must mean they are staying at Casa Harwood." Sebastian stated to which Nick nodded. "Family gathering planned?"

"Tomorrow, as no one wanted to risk planning anything for tonight." Nick replied. "Wes, what have you heard, honestly?"

"According to well-placed sources, we're in for quite the treat."

"Who?" Blaine asked and slowly saw Bella raise her hand. "Really?"

"I was home visiting our grandparents when they had a performance which I took in, unbeknownst to the boys."

"Tink, you've been holding out on me." Sebastian said with a smile. "Why?"

"You didn't ask Uncle Seb, if you had, I would've gladly shared." After she responded, all eyes fell upon Wes. "Take it easy on him, I asked him not to say anything knowing you guys." When they all feigned shock, even Xander and Gabby laughed. "Doesn't work, we know you all too well." She then kissed her Dad on the cheek before heading off with Xander and Gabby, telling them she'd see them inside.

"Where did she get that sass from?" Jeff asked.

"You know my wife, don't you?" Wes replied with a smile and they all nodded. "Self-explanatory." After he answered, he had to excuse himself as his phone went off.

"Does this seem surreal to anyone else?" Nick asked.

"You mean that our sons are all performing together?" Blaine asked and Nick nodded. "Yea. Bas and I talked about it this morning. We all joked about it when they were younger, yet now it's actually happening."

"How is it we're getting like this now, yet we didn't at sectionals?" Sebastian asked.

"Probably because everyone wasn't here for that." Jeff said. "Having us all here drives the point home." Before the conversation could evolve even further, an announcement was made for everyone to take their seats as the competition would be beginning shortly.

Once they began making their way into the auditorium, Blaine felt Sebastian slip his hand into his and give it a squeeze. For all the times they performed together, they each got a similar anxiety when watching their children perform. After they were seated, he leaned over and kissed Blaine on the cheek. When Blaine looked at him, Sebastian simple smiled before giving his hand another squeeze. "Are you sure Devon didn't say anything to you?"

"Not a word B. It won't be much longer till we know what those boys have up their sleeves." Blaine nodded before looking around and smiling. Jeff's words really hit home as there was something quite special seeing all the families gathered in once spot, to watch their sons performing together. By the time the show started, it proved some things never seemed to change. As each group finished, Sebastian would comment about the performances, much as he did back when they performed.

When the New Directions finally took the stage, quite a few looks were exchanged amongst its former members, curious as to what they were going to see. Though from what they'd heard, they were quite the force to be reckoned with. And once their set ended, they knew for a fact it was true as they'd put on quite the performance. Knowing that, they knew the type of performance their boys were going to have to put on to win and head to Nationals.

After they left the stage, the knots begun as their boys were going on next. When Blaine and Sebastian felt hands on their shoulders, they looked back to see their own Dads looking at them, smiling, reassuring them. With Devon in Ohio, the Grandparents had gone to support him every chance they could since Blaine and Sebastian weren't always able to come home, much as it had been for the other boys.

Before the lights came full on the stage, the Warbler harmonies began filling the auditorium and then Ben began to sing. Their first song was a top forty hit at the moment which didn't necessarily surprise anyone as it was pretty true form. Blaine looked over at Wes and Hailey who were positively beaming as they listened to their son sing. While they'd all heard Ben sing before, there was something about seeing him like this made it more special. Even the older siblings that tended to give their brothers a hard time were clearly proud of what they were witnessing.

The moment they began their second song which was a ballad, Sebastian nudged Blaine in the side as they were doing the infamous Warbler two-step and it was obvious they'd all noticed. The moment they began to since New York State of Mind, it was clear no one expected the quartet that was singing it to be doing so as it was Maxwell, Tyler, Liam, and Jacob. While the Dads were clearly proud, Quinn, Santana, Brittany, and Rachel were in awe watching their boys sing together with the nod to home.

From what they'd heard so far, they were all impressed, yet they couldn't quite understand the desire to keep their set list a secret. But according to all the boys, once they heard it, they'd understand why which now had many realizing they were probably referencing once specific song. Once the ballad ended, Sebastian felt a nudge in his side from Bella. "Do you know something Tink?"

"Just don't let go of Uncle Blaine's hand." When he cocked his eyebrow, she smiled up at him before settling back in her seat. After she spoke, Sebastian looked closely at the stage and noticed Devon was standing center stage which meant there was a strong chance he was doing lead on the last number. Then the moment the boys opened their mouths, everything they'd been so secretive about, now made sense.

Warblers:

Here we are, Born to be kings,

We're the princes of the universe,

Here we belong,

Devon:

Fighting to survive,

In a world with the darkest powers,

And here we are, We're the princes of the universe,

Here we belong, Fighting for survival,

We've come to be the rulers of your world,

I am immortal, I have inside me blood of kings,

I have no rival, No man can be my equal,

Take me to the future of your world

Born to be kings, Princes of the universe,

Fighting and free, Got your world in my hand,

I'm here for your love and I'll make my stand,

Warblers:

We were born to be princes of the universe,

The further into the song they got, they seemed to embrace it more which drew in the crowd even more if that was possible. All of them were exchanging looks as they now understood fully why their sons hadn't told them what songs they were doing. Blaine's eyes were blown wide as he watched and listened as not only did Devon sound amazing, he was owning the stage much as his Dads had. Sebastian was grateful for Bella's brief words as without them, there was no way he would've been prepared in the slightest for what they were about to hear.

Devon:

I know that people talk about me I hear it every day,

But I can prove you wrong cos I'm right first time,

Yeah. Yeah. Alright, Watch this man fly,

Bring on the girls,

Warblers:

Here We are. Born to be kings.

We're the princes of the universe.

By the time they finished, the crowd was on their feet cheering as the Warblers had truly embraced who some viewed them to be, specifically this incarnation of them. The crowd was still applauding when the boys made their way off of the stage. The boys felt triumphant as they made their way towards their room knowing they had a bit of time till the judges made their decision. They were about to turn the corner towards the room when they spotted the headmaster, causing them to stop in their tracks. "Princes of the Universe, huh?"

"Well…" Ben said before pausing to collect his thoughts as he hadn't figured the first person he'd be having to address after getting off the stage would be the headmaster. "…we…"

"Relax boys, I'm not upset with you." The headmaster told them. "I'm well aware of what people have said about you. It took a lot of guts to sing that particular number, especially with your parents in the audience."

"That's why we didn't tell them sir." Ben replied. "Some might have tried to talk us out of it."

"Only because they know the risk you were taking. " The headmaster said in response. "While I might be bias, I believe you boys pulled off the best performance of the day. You should all be quite proud of what you did on that stage."

"Thank you sir." Ben said before the headmaster excused himself and they continued on their way. "Please tell me I wasn't the only one nervous?" They all shook their heads as they were prepared for quite the lecture had he been unhappy with their song selection.

When they arrived back at the room, they were a bit surprised to find Ainsley leaning against the door. She simply smirked at them all before moving so they could head inside, that is all of them besides Devon. "Care to tell me what that was about?" She asked after giving him a hip bump as he was already taller than her. "Dev?"

"Embracing who we are." He replied before running his fingers through his hair. "How did Dad and Papa react?" The moment she began to giggle, he leaned his head back. "That bad?"

"Dad was stunned, and Papa was doing what he could to contain his enthusiasm." Ainsley told him. "Also, if you heard, that's my boy once you finished, that was him." When he smiled, she bumped him again. "That's more like it. You guys honestly impressed the hell out of everyone. You made the Dads proud in more ways than one."

"Are you sure?"

"I'm positive. Though, I have a feeling their going to want a bit of an explanation on the song choice."

"We assumed as much." Devon told her. "I was honestly scared to death Ainsley. First off, Queen is never easy to do. And…"

"Dad sang Queen when they won Nationals, I know." Ainsley finished for him. "It put even more pressure on you, yet you nailed it." He thanked her before leaning against the wall. "What is it as you have that contemplative look on your face?"

"You don't believe we pushed it too far, did we?"

"Easy as it would be to say yes, you didn't. I know for all of you, it isn't necessarily easy being their sons. Yet, you all put yourselves in a place where the comparisons are easily made due to your interests. None of you have backed down from it, that takes a lot of guts."

"Did you just compliment me?" When she raised her eyebrow, he smiled.

"Don't get used to it." She said, a playful smile gracing her face. "I really am proud of you Devon. Being the son of Dad and Papa can't be easy here."

"It's easier now than when I first arrived." Devon told her. "That's sort of why we did that song as, we all really had to learn to be us, as too often we tried to avoid similarities to our Dads."

"Easier said than done as most of you are so much like them." Ainsley said and he nodded. "I get what you mean though. We often try to be anyone other than our parents when in actuality, being like them isn't necessarily bad. Particularly when you luck out with cool parents like ours."

"So you get it."

"I do, all the siblings do. While I know you're all probably worried about how the parents are going to react to the performance, don't be as they understand too. I've heard Dad and Papa talking more than a few times, voicing their concerns about that very topic."

"I needed to hear that more than you realize Ainsley."

"Well, if you need to hear it again, call me you dork. We might be hundreds of miles apart, but I'll always be here for you." When he smiled, she did as well.

"Dad and Papa would be shocked seeing us like this."

"We have our moments. Now go in there and hang with the guys. It shouldn't be too long till you guys find out how you did." Devon nodded before giving her a hug. "I really am proud of you."

"That really means a lot to me, thank you."

"You're welcome." She then kissed him on the cheek. "See you soon." After she headed back towards the auditorium, he headed inside the room to wait with the guys for the results. Ainsley's disappearance didn't go unnoticed as when she returned, Blaine and Sebastian were waiting for her. "Don't, okay." They nodded before each giving her a kiss. "You just had to, didn't you?"

"We didn't say anything." Sebastian said before slipping an arm around her. "We're proud of you."

"Papa!"

"I can't help myself after that spectacular performance." Sebastian told her. Yet before either of them could say or ask anything else, the lights flashed signaling for them to return to their seats. "B, that's quick."

"I was just thinking the same thing." It was pretty clear the others had the same reaction as they each had similar looks on their faces as they returned to their seats. "This is the one part I don't miss Bas." Blaine said as he took Sebastian's hand once they returned to their seats. "Not in the slightest."

"Me either B, me either." Sebastian replied as they waited for the awards ceremony to begin. Once it did began, the anxiety seemed to grow as all of them wanted to know how the boys had done. Unlike in past years, each group had sent a representative to the stage, with the others not joining till the final three were in the running. Seeing who the last three were, didn't surprise anybody given it were the Warblers, Vocal Adrenaline, and the New Directions proving little had changed since they'd competed. Watching their boys, wait brought back memories for all of them as they knew how nerve-wracking this moment truly was for all of them.

The moment the New Directions were announced as second runner-up, they felt a bit bad, yet grateful that it was them and not the Warblers. Blaine glanced over at Thad who looked like he was about to burst when the host started to ramble before continuing. Once he did, Blaine looked up at Sebastian who gave him a reassuring smile as the words first runner-up were spoken.

That was all that needed to be said for the Warblers to begin reacting on the stage. Seeing their own boys react in a manner so similar to them, brought memories flooding back. By the time the Warblers were official named the winner, therefore going to Nationals, the entire crowd was on its feet cheering for them. For anyone that ever doubted them, the boys proved they were just as capable as their fathers by moving on to Nationals. The only left to truly cement their legacy, would be winning it all, just like their Dads did.

As they were exiting the auditorium so that they could go congratulate their boys, a group of them stopped upon seeing Mr. Schuester. Once they all said hello, he looked at his former students. "I'd say it's safe to say your boys inherited all of your talents and that of your spouses."

"Thank you." Rachel replied. "You and Finn should be proud as well, the New Directions did quite well also."

"Thank you. Needless to say, Finn had a feeling this year wouldn't be his year."

"Why is that?" Mike asked, even though he had a good idea.

"Probably because he saw the Warblers roster and too many familiar names." Mr. Schuester told them. "They lived up to all the hype surrounding them, you must all be quite proud."

"We are." Santana stated. "Now, not to be rude, but we really want to go see them."

"It's not rude at all, I understand the desire to go see them." They were about to turn, when he called out for Blaine and Sebastian. "That was your son on the final number, wasn't it?"

"It was." Blaine replied. "How'd you know?"

"He is every bit the performer the two of you were."

"Thank you." Sebastian said to him before they left with the others to go and congratulate their boys.
