The door of the elevator opened; Cat's lungs quickly caught her breath. The bullpen crowded. Suddenly her employees weren't afraid, attached zombies to computers screens; she couldn't hear clicks of keyboards, printing machines producing papers or phones ringing.
The bullpen had a different atmosphere as well.
Decorative balloons adorned the ceiling. Cat noticed they were not a natural color. The plastic garments were a soft yellow that resembled gold, matching in astonishing condition her office layout and decoration. The round synthetic garments even complimented the gold Supergirl statue on the further elevator.
She glanced to her left through a crystal. Behind elongated glass doors, multiples plasmas televisions adorned the back of her desk. Perhaps, the new addition to her office was superior and in better congruence than before.
The back wall that her daughter's laser beams destroyed hours ago was now in a new vibrant adornment. The new white wall created the area more influential and roomy.
Adjacent to the bar, two cameras remained placed on tripods. Black cables hanged from them tightly connected to two photographer lamps.
Cat stepped out of the elevator, willingly and unconsciously. When her Manolo Blahnik's patted against the floor, time renewed, noises and awareness of reality forced her to understand she wasn't oblivious of people.
Her employees were clapping; at least it seemed they have since the metallic doors of the elevator slid open, showing her presence.
Cat took another big step. She removed her sunglasses, placing them inside her black purse. With a tilt of Cat's head, her employees received the gesture as a method of appreciation. They started clapping harder and evoking a small smirk from Cat. Some of them cheered, and employees in the back rose their hands maintaining the noise.
She saw Carter with a bottle of champagne walking to her. He smiled, dressed in work clothes with a velvet tie. His mother count encounters him more handsome. Cat thought he went to aid her when he quickly grabbed a knife, next to a cake on Dianna's desk she just noticed and popped open the champagne bottle by sliding the blade on the knob.
Cat was flustered, and the cake was almost as big as Dianna's desk. Her employees started opening champagnes bottles, as Carter kissed his mother on the cheek.
"You look gorgeous." He said, placing his hand behind his mother's back. Cat gulped, noticing Dianna and some other employees reducing the clapping noises to grab glasses. "Kara showed me that trick." He whispered, winking to his mom.
Cat kept observing the crow; her heart appeared dense and complete. During her whole career, nobody has ever sustained her after Issue Night with a party. Consequently, her phone was buzzing all morning, that alone should be a signal of her accomplishment.
After wearing a casual smile on her face, she discerned Supergirl and her wife standing next to each other. Alex and Maggie were in another corner by her office door. Having her family here and her happy employees forced her to make a conversation. A speech she didn't know if her mind was in the optimal mood to build prosperous. Cat couldn't deliver outrageous statements after Issue Night. Her notoriety could be at stake.
Cat blushed, raising her cup, waiting for her bullpen to be full of the bubbly substance. The bullpen didn't stop noises or made an awkward silence while waiting. They all gathered, sitting next to each other's and with CatCo magazines in hand.
Kara started walking towards Carter and Cat. There was something luxurious about's Kara's appearance when she wore high waisted pants. This time they were black, matching Cat's outfit unintentionally.
When Kara reached her wife, Cat was wary of two things; she needed to control her public display of affection, especially with the consequence of the previous night still in place and very fresh. She also didn't know who this person was, since OS was operating and in motion.
Kara smiled, opening her arms to Cat. The media mogul placed her hand on Kara's shoulder as she softly shifted her neck, inhaling fruits, and vanilla slowly. "Hello dear," Cat greeted her wife since she woke up by herself this morning, hot, sweaty and naked. "You look stunning."
Kara smiled as she kept her head closer to Cat. "How did you know it was me? I didn't wear perfume today." Kara held Cat closer. "I wanted to see if you recognized me." Kara shrugged a little, smiling wide.
"Very well of you to try sending a representation of your father to kiss your wife before many eyes or cameras." Cat flashed her a smile. "Clever, consequently your pheromones are new and vibrant, easy for me to recognize. I don't need your perfume, darling."
Alex helped Dianna share the glasses with the rest of the bullpen, once ready, Kara decided to speak first.
"Good morning," Kara began. "I want to thank everybody for being here today," She greeted, looking back at Cat. "Not that you have any other option, you work here." Everybody chuckled and laughed at Kara's words. Cat could sense she was somehow nervous. Kara was apprehensive that there was a probability that Retro was still looking through the bullpen. "What I'm trying to say is, thank you. Thanks for your support and hard work." She concluded before she ruined it.
Kara's words were mild, but with much significance to what she was displaying. Everybody clapped as Cat step next to her wife.
"As the first media in National City, I feel somehow compelled," She beamed. "To give you the truth. I am thankful in many ways of the hard work you put every month. Furthermore, the unity you have proved has been astonishingly inspirational. There's no more motivation than the heroes that live in National City." Cat demanded to finish the speech before sobbing in front of co-workers. "No matter what enemies this city has, we have the power to distribute the truth. And we'll always do it, with your support's and Supergirl." She elevated her cup. "Cheers to a successful month."
Everybody clapped, raising their cups and drinking. Cat witnessed how Supergirl kept talking with her workers. J'onn's arms were immensely stressed. He was almost playing with the corner of the cape.
"He's a little nervous," Kara whispered, inhaling the scent of Cat softly. "Good morning, beautiful." She said, shifting her blue orbs in Cat's eyes. Kara saw the gold the green and the striking in between them.
She succumbed under her wife's beauty, superb hair, and new clothes. "How did you sleep?" Kara pushed her glasses up her nose, stranding still from her closeness down to Cat's face.
"I couldn't sleep. Last night the bed felt somewhat rough." Cat joked, hiding behind the champagne glass. "There are multiple sore areas around my body." Cat sipped some more as Kara fiddled with her glasses, grinning and swinging her head. "I am thoroughly rested."
Kara hugged Cat, caressing her head. "Maybe we can get a new mattress."
"Thank you, that'll be lovely, dear."
"Come here," Kara grasped her by the hand, casually tangling her fingers with her. Cat looked at Kara's left hand; her sumptuous ring enhanced her finger. Knowing her wife was unavailable before this, many people provided a relief distinctive from what Cat have perceived previously. The contrast was very evident. She could distinguish it by merely feeling her lover's touch. "I have something for you." Cat drove her finger over the skin, tapping her shoes faster as her wife hauled her to the office.
Cat stopped, placing her purse by her desk. "Thank you," She said, turning around, discovering her family inside her office. Alex smirked, lifting a glass for Cat. "The office looks wondrous, even more, me than before."
"I agree," Kara freed her hand, handing Cat her publication wrapped in brown paper. "This is what I wanted to show you."
Cat greeted, sitting down on her chair and tearing the paper, revealing her black logo over a white wall. The quotes on the wall were attractive and comprehensive, slowly planting and hushing into the concrete without withdrawing attention from the brown coat rack and the nearly velvet cape.
She slid her finger over the cover, holding content and proud as she opened the top, unfolding the sensitive front to reveal more of the quotes. Cat slowly traced the bold letters throughout the wall, marking with her fingers and following with her eyes how the message popped over the cover.
"It's beautiful." Cat's tone was enthusiastic and genuine.
"It's sold out. That's what it is." Maggie said, placing another magazine in front of Cat. She delivered her best friend a sharpie for Cat to sign.
Kara slid her hand over Cat's shoulder. "I'm proud of you." Kara quickly pecked her wife's lips. Cat flushed, seizing the sharpie and scribbling a-c, over a wave of the letter g, but never forgetting a loopy d followed by a letter n and a firm s.
"Wow," Maggie grabbed the magazine, placing it in a perfect plastic bag, preserving it, leaving air out and putting it inside a sturdy oak frame. "You won't be able to recreate that signature." Maggie grabbed a hammer and a nail; her tone was excited and proud as she settled the magazine over Cat's bar.
Kara bit her lip, as her interiors required to kiss Cat with everything she had. Cat glowed, looking at her magazine above her bar. She saw Alex laying a small metal plaque beneath the oak frame.
"All of this was possible because of you all." Cat was sincere. Kara saw the tears appearing, she spun Cat's chair overlooking the televisions and bending in front of her wife.
"I love you, dear." Kara cupped Cat's face, kissing her wife gradually and deep. She was out of sight, but intrinsically Cat's magnetic field was soothing and engaging. It was straightforward for Kara to feel the drawing. It didn't matter they were at work, or with the family behind them, there was something utterly absolute that lead to nonrenewable emotions.
Cat grinned into the kiss, swaying her head casually and licking her lips, hoping her wife didn't smudge her lipstick. "I love you too, dear," Cat replied, smiling.
"It does sound better when you say it." Kara gleamed, grabbing the remote from the side and turning the televisions. Different shines and tones illuminated Cat's face. Kara had the control in her hands as she had the TVS with the news muted and mysterious.
Cat could skim through the headlines, reading and searching for Opal's City media.
Kara placed the remote in front of Central's City News, unmuting the television as the reporter smiled behind S.T.A.R Labs building.
"…Just a week ago the S.T.A.R. Labs, here downtown Central City tried to investigate the weird power outage of National City. Reporters from Gotham City and Metropolis kept mentioning how strange a power plant outage in the morning was merely bizarre. Leaving the lab this morning, investigators identified some unnatural substance around the first generator that caused the explosion; Same content found at National's City Noonan's. There's a probability that the villain that haunts National City is after this attack as well.
"Which leads to what I have in my hands," The reporter placed CatCo Magazine right in front of the camera. "Media mogul and most influencer person in National City, Catherine Grant—Danvers was aware of these attempts. Last night the man that's trying to agitate the peace broadcasted a video in which he demands Supergirl's appearance tomorrow at sundown at the National City Stadium." Cat was pleased for the words of the reporters. The office was quiet, but her family was observant to the media. "Mrs. Grant presented a fantastic Issue this morning. Showing how our neighbor city is resilient and ready for whoever tries to upset the order. She showed a clear communication for this villain." The reporter revealed the foldable cover in front of the camera.
"The unity NC shows will never terminate while Cat Grant Danvers' operates the place."
Kara muted the television, showing Metropolis News reporter.
"… The magazines are sold out. The cover has quotes of National Citizens appreciating Supergirl. It seems like National City will not tremble and comply with this man demands. Supergirl is not alone."
Kara shifted the remote to Gotham's City news where the Anchor's had Cat's magazine in their hands.
"This is the problem I have right now," The brunette smiled, opening the magazine. "How Cat Grant knew he would say something? Once over, she goes forward and past the brutes. She knows her city. She knows Supergirl is not alone and this man should know it too." The camera cut to the other anchorman; he showed the foldable cover welcoming. "It's impressive, Jessica. Thus it's not Cat Grant first rodeo; she has been in command of National City for as long as Supergirl has dominated the city. This man should know Supergirl will not be alone."
Kara saw Cat wiping her tears as she expanded her hand. Cat grabbed her hand as Kara unmuted Opal City's. Wrath crisped her shoulder as she identified this was the same media that tried to accuse Kara of only saving Cat.
Cat needed to be aware of this media. They could promptly destroy everything Kara have guarded.
"Again, we see how media mogul Cat Grant only thinks of Supergirl. What about those people who might die? Retro said he was going to blow National City, why is nobody looking for these bombs?"
"Turn that off before I have to repair another television." Alex was now next to Kara. She took the remote, muting Opal City's News and unmuting Cat's media boastfully.
Kara smiled at Cat, sliding her finger's over skin.
"We are right in front of CatCo Plaza, reporting live from the lobby." Cat reclined forward when she saw a crowd of people behind the reporter. The place was full of people with posters and cardboard that read not alone. "This morning after CatCo Issue released, hundreds of people decided to join the cause. Cat Grant Danvers sent a coded message to the villain, letting him know that Supergirl wasn't alone. Just now, everybody decided to march from the park and gather in front of CatCo plaza." The reporter turned to a man protesting happily with a sign on his hands. "Good morning, I'm here with Lucas Summers, he's an intern here at CatCo. You were the first one here this morning, what do you think it inspired National City."
"I think it's important to see the unity. Mrs. Grant has always tried to show the unity of the city. It's only fair that we, as citizens, we take care of our city. We have arranged a search for the bombs. We have retired military dogs with their owners searching for major areas of residents. We also have conventional citizens, bartenders, teachers, taxi drivers, local owners, and next-door-neighbor. We understand that NCPD will be operating along with our local crisis system. We want to help without causing any harm to discreetly. We'll find this man or help Supergirl until she shows tomorrow."
"Thank you, Lucas." Cat cleaned her face of tears. The city she wholeheartedly attended, and love was showing assistance, not only to her media operation or her domain that she has fought hard to create. She had people exploring, trusting her, and guaranteeing her wife would be supported. If only they knew how much all this hard word meant to Cat. If she could stand at her balcony and shriek that this was more than Supergirl. It was her city, her wife.
"This is incredibly overwhelming," Cat said as soon as Alex silenced the television. "I do need to employ that kid." Cat brushed her tears careful and well-defined not to ruin her make up.
"Everything will be alright." Kara kneeled in front of Cat again. "I don't understand why he hasn't placed the bombs. I searched again this morning. Maggie and Alex helped too." Cat stretched her hand, and Alex took it, stroking Cat's knuckles. "I cannot tell you what he's planning, but we haven't heard from him. This is good, babe."
Cat chuckled at the affectionate word. She stood, adjusting her dress, and looking at her open bullpen. The balloons were there, although the people were back to work. Cat could hear chanting from afar. Nervously, she swaggered to the outsides of her balcony. Her entire family followed her.
The wind carried flowers and vanilla next to her. Kara encircled her arms around Cat's body from behind as her wife looked at the people below. National Citizen's resembled small and peculiarly powerful. They never halted traffic, gently objecting and collecting people for the search.
"J'onn was going to give the speech himself," Kara said close to Cat's ear. "I think I should address National City personally."
Cat turned in Kara's arms. "I think you should do it yourself too." Cat beamed.
J'onn stood next to Cat as Kara. Kara sat as Supergirl in front of multiples TVs. The cameras from earlier were closer, the umbrellas with lights placed flawlessly emphasizing Supergirl's face. Kara wasn't nervous. She was full of optimism and self-confidence. This was more than herself; she was convinced and eager.
Dianna powder a shiny spot over Kara's forehead when somebody from The Tribune asked Supergirl to prepare. The televisions were off — Supergirl's curls, golden and perfect.
Cat was conscious of the short timing they had before Supergirl started to address National City. Nonetheless, she left J'onn's side and stood closer to her favorite scent.
Supergirl smiled, conserving her composure. She didn't know if Retro could still see the office. Furthermore, she had cameras now in front of her. There couldn't be any mishaps or minuscule fault when Supergirl looked into Cat Grant's eyes.
"You can do this," Cat said, placing her hand on Supergirl's shoulder.
Kara flickered, smiling softly back and nodding quickly. Kara turned back to the cameras before she got lost in brown eyes.
The Tribune reporter started counting, and Supergirl was live.
"National City, for the past week, we have seen a person trying to disrupt our peace and voice. We haven't had any attacks or major threats to this city in over five years. We have lived in unity, understanding, and peacefully. Last Friday, when the power plant when out, we showed unity as the transformers around the city forced some danger and created minor damages. I am not going to lie to you," Cat turned, leaving her office. She looked up, the televisions up the bullpen were all showing Supergirl's message. The computers around her had different platforms rising views with every word her wife spoke. "I was terrified of this man. Last night I spent hours, flying, searching the city, schools, government building everywhere for these bombs. I couldn't find one.
"I don't know if this man is lying but one thing I know, he is trying to create panic. And I'm not going to lie. He did generate fear in myself. I was insecure about being powerful or being proficient of saving every National City citizen. Accordingly, today, seeing Cat's Grant support, and yours, I feel empowered.
"I will not cover the sky with one hand, recognizing you that if these bombs are installed later before tomorrow at sunset, nothing will happen. I don't know what will happen, but I am comfortable, hopeful, and expectant that National City will be okay. The bombs won't need to harm anybody because I will show tomorrow at the Stadium. I encourage all of you to stay at home, let the emergency system cover the streets without the morning traffic or busy intersections. Hug your family and let's pray for a safe National City. Supergirl is not alone."
The Tribune reporter cut the transmission, as Supergirl stood from the chair. She directed, turning on the TV's as she saw her face in every single media, including Opal City.
J'onn as Kara squeezed Supergirl and they both left the office.
Maggie stood next to Cat, as the media mogul sat on Dianna's desk. She surfed through media, Supergirl's video getting over two million views in a couple of minutes. She wanted to look in the direction of Retro's cameras. Cat tried to show him how effective they all were, but she chose to turn to Maggie preferably.
"I don't think J'onn could've delivered a better speech than that don't you think?" Cat rested her body over Dianna's chair, smiling and folding her arms.
"I don't think so." Cat focused on Maggie's face. "You are uncommonly gorgeous." Cat traveled her eyes over brown skin, dark brown hair, and a broad simper coming from her best friend.
"Cat, I have a girlfriend," Maggie replied, smirking and stretching her hand for Cat to take. "You are sumptuous too."
"You are my best friend." Cat's eyes moistened. She maybe forgot all the love she had around herself while trying to create the best possible way to assimilate the idea of her marriage. She did, so uncommonly fast and effortless that maybe Maggie wanted to hear it from her now that her marriage was spontaneously whole and essential.
She didn't think the idea of having a best friend was out of the world, especially with the age she wore over her shoulder. The feeling was presumably agonizing years ago if she thought about it. Feeling how incredibly ordinary and distinctive felt relying on a person that understood and listened to you besides, your lover felt like something she demanded previously.
"Don't get all sappy now," Maggie said, cleaning the corner of her eyes. "I am beyond ecstatic. Last week, it broke me seeing you like that and now look at you."
"I have an outstanding company and an exceptional partnership." Cat stood pulling her in a hug.
"Sappy and cocky." Maggie hugged her back. "How was the sex." She could feel Cat giggling. "Under that makeup, you look ghastly."
"You just said I was beautiful." Cat tended back, keeping Maggie close.
"Well yeah, but you must be tired." Maggie caressed Cat's cheek. "The good type of tired, the one that carries you all day, reminiscing here and there of touches." Maggie joked. "Did you find the place?"
"She did." Kara was now behind them. Beaming and turning Cat immediately.
"Please tell me you're not J'onn," Maggie asked as she saw Supergirl being surveyed by The Tribune in a corner.
"No," Cat replied, kissing Kara.
Dianna came interrupting them followed by Alex. "I just received a text from Thomas'." She had her iPad close to her and was tapping it frantically. She slid her finger over the screen. "He's on his way to the airport. He's picking Adam."
Cat muscles clenched in Kara's arms. The thought of seeing Adam didn't cross her mind. She thought time would be graceful with her as she gathered her thoughts after Retro to introduced herself back to her son. Cat was unaware if her oldest knew about her memory loss. She was making it uncomfortable and astonishingly attractive at the same time.
Cat tried to remember the last time she saw him. The rules didn't apply when it came to the mothership. The feeling she was holding was as if flashes from retained memories produced a closeness with him.
"He's visiting?" Cat asked, scratching her neck.
"Yes, he's visiting because of this." Dianna turned her iPad to Kara as she saw the brochure of the opening of the Danvers' gallery. The date was tonight at eight.
Kara felt the electricity of impatience run over her muscles. "We have to cancel." She said, provoking a turning of the head from Alex to Cat.
"No, no, dear," Cat turned in Kara's arms. She noticed the weird expression Kara wore. "You can't cancel, it will be questionable for the media. You're my wife, and we just said over National City that we were not frightened. We can't simply withdraw your gallery opening because of what's currently happening."
Kara was quiet for a second. Her family was too. "You're right. I cannot back down." Kara slid her hand over Cat's arms. "I can do this."
"Yes, you can." Cat smiled. "We'll be there. All of us at eight."
"Rao, I haven't finished my main piece."
Dianna smiled, tapping her iPad. "Then you'll have time. I have a car downstairs for Cat. Gabrielle has scheduled an appointment to remove the stitches."
"Gosh, Dianna you're a terrible assistant, it's not like we have been incredibly involved with a possible serial killer out there," Maggie said as everybody laughed.
"You're such a jerk." Dianna laughed.
"Finish your painting. I'll meet you at home at about five." Cat pecked Kara's lips, entering her office and finding her purse and her laptop.
The elevator opened its doors, revealing a more prominent DEO logo than one of the elevator. She tapped her heels over granite-as if she owed the place. Cat directed herself to the central lobby on the original floor. She turned, standing in front of television's, men dressed in black and many more sounds of keyboards than her bullpen.
The screens were replaying Retro's video. Some of the agents had headphones as they stopped, rewind, and suspended voices clips coming from the video. Cat focused on a mission; she didn't bring her laptop here for a reason. She was proud when she found a regular cardigan mixed with a black polo shirt.
Winn threw his headphones over the keyboard and turned his chair, finding Cat smiling in front of him.
"Mrs. Grant, what are you doing here?" He said alarmed, with a hand over his chest.
"I need your help." She said, handing him the laptop. "How good are you with laptops? I hope better than what you did with that computer." Cat pointed to the stopped video.
"I am good, terrific actually." Winn turned to look at Retro's face. "I can't hear anything past his voice."
"You won't. Maggie tried last night too. Kara said he recorded the video in a quiet place." Winn was surprised but believed Cat's words unquestionably. This man thought about everything. There should be a flaw; there's always a flaw. "There's a red folder." Cat snapped him out of his thoughts. "I need you to hack it. I don't know whatever you people do to get inside things with passwords."
She handed him the laptop. "Oh, Mrs. Grant this will be hard."
"I thought you were terrific near computers." Cat emulated his previous tone.
"I am," He said humbly. "It's just that I created the protective encryption codes to your laptop and everything inside CatCo."
"Even better, if you are the creator, you will have no problem of de—encrypting your codes." Cat smiled. "Thank you so much." Winn was puzzled, did Cat Grant thank him for the first time? "Oh, your name?"
"Winn." He tapped his chest, his eyebrows still furrowed, and his mouth agape.
"Thanks, Winn," She started walking away, and she quickly turned back. "I also need the blueprints of National City Stadium. I want it all. The entire thing, including the parking lot." Winn nodded, turning and clicking away Retro's video to help Cat.
"Anything else, boss?" He said, smiling over the keyboard. He quickly found the blueprints of the stadium.
Cat placed her hand over her chin, looking at the outlines of the stadium.
"Yes," Winn turned focused and alert. "I need a five-inch-wide scarf of that lead blanket you made for Kara while she injured with White Kryptonite." Cat tilted her head. "I can pay you."
He smiled. "No, no money, Mrs. Grant. Call me if you need anything else."
"Thank you, Winn."
Cat rushed down the hall, turning and looking at the opposite elevator. She remembered the place as if she had visited a million times. She shifted, walking over a glass lab when tiny hands stopped her on her knees.
"Mommy," Cat quickly looked down at her daughter, she dropped the purse on the floor looking at her daughter. She didn't see her this morning before she left. "They're almost ready, mommy. They're almost ready." Ollie jumped in excitement.
"Baby," Cat grabbed her purse and picked her daughter from the floor. "You look beautiful."
"You too, mommy," Ollie said, fixing her hair out of her face. She was thrilled and uncommonly happy now that her mother was here with her.
Cat walked over when she saw Eliza waving from down the hall. Cat was sure Ollie used her superspeed to meet her. Once heels meet the lab, she placed Ollie on the floor.
Eliza walked over Cat, greeting and hugging her. "Welcome to grandma day."
"Hello, Eliza thanks for doing this." Cat saw Ollie in front of a third-dimensional printer. The machine gradually moved back and forth, creating orange glasses.
"Look, look." Ollie jumped up and down in front of the printer. "Orange, like Mr. Knows."
"Wow, I am not surprised at the color preference, darling." Ollie shrieked hysterically.
"It's the best color, mommy." Ollie stopped jumping and started hovering by accident. "Maybe momma's suit would look cooler orange." Cat walked over her, placing it slowly back on the floor. Cat was happy she could float herself.
"We can ask Winn about that." Cat placed a kiss on her daughter's cheek as they both stare at the almost available glasses.
Ollie nodded, tapping the glass that protected the printer. "Thank you, grandma, Za."
"You're very welcome, my darling." Eliza prepared more orange color for the machine.
Cat wanted to tell Ollie about the Gallery and Adam coming, but she was unaware if Ollie knew about Adam. She slowly stood, walking over Eliza.
"Hey, do you know if Ollie knows about," Cat mouthed, Adam while Eliza nodded. "Oh, thank you. Also, tonight it's Kara's Gallery opening."
"Is it tonight?" Eliza doubted.
"We all forgot." Cat's face was slightly embarrassed. "Including your daughter."
"That makes me feel less terrible mother." Eliza chuckled.
Cat smiled, walking back to Ollie. "Hey baby, tonight's momma's gallery opening. I'm going to get the best dress for you." Ollie opened her eyes wide, placing her hands on her face. "It can be any color that you want. I'll text Dianna, and she can bring it later home."
Ollie was quiet for a second, looking at her glasses and then back at her mother's face. "It can't be orange because I'll be wearing my glasses." Cat was incredibly surprised by her daughter's choice of style. "White, mommy. Tell Di I want a white dress."
Cat nodded. "I'll do that right now." While Cat text Dianna, the printer made a loud beep, announcing it concluded.
"Yes!" Ollie jumped one more time. Eliza touched a button, the glass cover slid, and Ollie grabbed her glasses, handing them over Cat. "Okay, mommy, you put them on me."
Cat wanted to cry, this was a critical moment, and she was able to share it with Ollie. She lacked Kara to make it even more perfect. Cat moved Ollie's hair, grasping the orange glasses from tiny hands and placing them slowly over Ollie's face.
"Why don't you try to look at Eliza's heart, baby."
"Wow, I can't see mommy." Ollie smiled, looking at everything around her. She lifted the glasses squinting her eyes and then placing the orange frame back on her nose. "It's my new shield."
"Strong shield." Cat replied as Ollie ran to thank her grandmother.
"You're welcome. Let's make another one okay."
"I get to have two?" Ollie asked, startled.
"Do you want a different color?" Ollie shook her head. "Yes, we can have multiple, just in case it breaks. Kara has like ten."
"That's a lot. I don't need that many, grandma."
Cat smiled, overflowed with love. She walked over Eliza, placing another kiss on Ollie's head. "Let me see you." Ollie smiled beautifully with orange glasses on her perfect face. "You look gorgeous."
"Thank you, momma, you too." Ollie stretched her hand, sliding her finger over her mother's nose.
"I love you more, darling." She nodded to Eliza placing her bag over her shoulder. "Mommy will go to Gabrielle now; she's going to remove the stitches."
"Okay," Ollie said, taking her glasses off and on.
"Adam will be at the gallery tonight."
"Oh! Will he bring me another bow for Mr. Knows?" Ollie left her glasses alone on her face.
"I don't know, but it's a special occasion."
"I'll tell Mr. Knows, just in case he doesn't bring one."
Eliza laughed, tilting her head. She mouthed an: I'll text Adam.
"Bye baby, thank you, Eliza."
Cat left the lab, walking away but turning to see Eliza walking Olivia over the printer again. She walked three doors down and stopped over the lead cold room. Cat brushed her thoughts and opened the next door.
Gabrielle was washing her hands over the corner. "Crazy week to get you." Gabrielle grabbed a clean towel cleaning her hands and placing them inside esthetic gloves.
"How are you?" Cat smiled, walking over Gabrielle. "We forgot about agendas and appointments."
"Well, thank you, and you?" Cat sat over, lifting her hair in a bun, granting more view for her doctor and friend.
"I'm great actually. I want this week to be over. I'm deeming Fiji or the Netherlands." Gabrielle laughed, grabbing some pliers.
"That sounds good. The weather's only getting colder from now on." Gabrielle smiled, removing slowly one stitch from Cat's head. "Have you remembered anything?" Gabrielle was aware of not specifying anything regarding her amnesia. She asked the word incidentally, aware that Olivia had powers and was in a couple of rooms down the hall.
"Yes, sometimes, blurry. It's not significant progress."
"It doesn't need to be significant."
"I know, but you know my antics."
"It needs to be encouraging."
"Well, then it's been notable progress."
"I'm glad to hear." Gabrielle smiled, removing her gloves. It didn't surprise Cat that Gabrielle worked fast and professionally. She barely felt the strings leaving her skin. Cat tilted her head, as Gabrielle applied a spray over it. "It looks perfect. Your scar looks great."
"You know how much I love my scars." Cat rolled her eyes. Gabrielle opened a drawer placing two cables over Cat's temple. The television above Cat quickly showed a perfect image of her brain.
Colors and areas shine brighter spontaneously as Cat stood still. "Good technology here, right?" Gabrielle clicked a computer and then printed a plaque. "I'm also recording your senses and stimulations. She tapped Cat's shoulder to hit her knee with a pointy plastic tool later.
"Everything looks good. No sign of obstruction."
Cat was quiet for a second if her doctor didn't see any development, was she ever going to recover her memories? The thoughts left her mind as soon as she had them. She didn't need new ideas. The power of retaining Ollie previous years melted her hearth with diverse desires, but she was appreciative and so loving of what she had now.
"Let the brain work by itself," Gabrielle said, trying to comfort's her friend lost thoughts.
"I'll be okay. Thank you, Gabrielle." She hugged her doctor, removing the band from her hair.
"Cat," She turned at the door. "I'm at your order tomorrow. I cleared all my appointments after sundown. I'll be here in case anything happens."
Cat smiled, her chest felt humbled and thankful. "Thank you. I appreciate your help."
"Kara's going to be okay." Gabrielle smiled at her friend.
"I know." Cat winked leaving the room.
Her hands' tingle as she walked down the hall. She slid her hand over former stitches; her neck was a little sensitive, the area itched a little.
She traced her steps, back to Eliza and Ollie. Once there, her mother—in—law had a backpack ready for her.
"Is it okay if I stay a little longer?" Eliza removed her glasses. "Kara told me about your plan. I think it's incredibly clever." Ollie kept waiting on the last pair of glasses. "I'm trying to create an antidote." Cat hugged Eliza firmly.
"Thank you."
"You're not alone either." Eliza smiled, passing Cat the backpack.
"Baby, let's go home." Ollie grabbed the last pair of glasses, placing it in a glass case, as Cat opened the backpack for Ollie to put.
The afternoon seemed tranquil perfect as she walked out of the DEO. She had a roll of blueprints hanging over one shoulder, a lead scarf in a bag in one hand, an orange backpack over the other shoulder and her daughter on the other side. Ollie carried her mother's purse around her small shoulders, proudly.
Cat was gloomy that she didn't leave the DEO with her laptop, but Winn was working harder to break his codes.
Her living room was open and ready as she saw Kara's phone on the island counter. She placed Ollie on the floor, as she ran to her room to show Mr. Knows her glasses. She quickly removed her stilettos, placing the blueprint and scarf on top of the bed. Cat noticed three black zipped bags with a note from Dianna.
Adam had a bow with him
-D
Cat smiled, crumbling the note and placing it inside her drawer. Her daughter found her midway with Mr. Knows in hand. He was happy with Ollie's glasses, according to her daughter, they were matching now. Cat picked Ollie walking in silence over Kara's studio.
Cat placed a single digit over her lips. To her astonishment, Kara wasn't there. She turned, looking at her open office, the televisions were on. Kara was probably watching the news or waiting for any message from Retro.
Ollie followed her mother's sight. She casually removed her glasses, placing them on her head. "Momma." She pointed to inside the room. Cat could see a canvas in the middle of the sand but couldn't see her wife.
She was curious about her daughter as everything clicked when she saw Ollie moving her eyes around the room. A warm feeling evoked from her when she saw the emotion and caring way Ollie looked her mother using superspeed.
Cat tried, she couldn't move to squint her eyes and trying to follow her wife as Ollie could. She was proud when she noticed how sand moved underneath Kara's feet. A million particles floated in the air as Kara maintained them, thereby moving fast. Cat relocated, entering the room and Kara paused abruptly, brush in hand and her mouth seeking air. Sand washed Cat and Ollie from head to toe.
Olivia laughed as Cat followed her daughter as she spits sand from her lips.
"I'm sorry!" Kara blushed, blowing air slowly in front of them, shaking the sand away from them. "I'm sorry, Mr. Knows."
"Dear, I have sand inside my dress."
"Momma that was awesome." Ollie laughed harder.
Cat placed Ollie on the floor, looking inside her cleavage. Kara was laughing now when Cat started pouring sand from the inside of her dress.
"I didn't mean to." Kara cupped Cat's laughing face. "Hi," She said, kissing Cat's lips. She proceeded to grab some sand herself. "Mrs. Sand Cat." She joked, making Ollie laugh harder. Kara kissed Cat a couple of times until Ollie pulled Kara's shirt.
Kara picked Ollie up, ruffling her daughter's head. "Come on. Baby put them on!" Kara sat, and Cat followed, there was no point of avoiding sand anymore, she was about to fall in love with Kara even more. "Wait, wait." Kara left her studio, elevating more sand and getting Cat and Ollie covered with more sand. She returned at them, laughing.
"Momma you did it again," Ollie said, shaking her head.
Kara was apologetic but holding the urge to laugh. "Okay, no more superspeed." She held her phone in front of Ollie, opening the camera and recording a video. "Ladies and gentlemen," She focused on Mr. Knows and then back to Ollie. "It's time for some shield glasses." Ollie bounced excitedly, as she placed them over her face. "What an amazing view! They look so perfect." Kara passed Cat the phone as she grabbed Ollie's face inspecting the legs of the glasses. Cat was on cloud nine. She saw as her wife removed her glasses, switching them with Ollie's. "The moment of truth."
Olivia placed her mother's glasses away from her eyes, imitating her mother's action with her orange ones. "Two shields," Cat said, turning the phone recording herself. "National City citizens, this is the first time the Grant— Danvers household have two shields on the house." Cat had her fist closed emulating she was holding a microphone. "Two gorgeous shields for my gorgeous ladies."
Ollie ran to her mother with Cat's glasses in hands. "Three shields, mommy." Ollie beamed, placing her Cat's glasses on her face. Cat tears covered her eyes as Ollie hugged her, and Kara stopped the video.
Cat cleaned her tears, kissing Kara and Ollie's cheek. "Let me see." Cat started to stand, but Ollie ran full speed and stood in front of the canvas.
"Wow, they're fire—
Kara quickly covered Ollie's mouth. "It's a surprise." Kara turned the canvas a little more and stood to help Cat up the sandy floor.
"I'm going to take a shower," Cat whispered, lost in the sweet scent. Kara quickly slid her hand over Cat's neck, tilting her wife's head to check over where stitches used to be.
"Gorgeous." Kara smiled. Cat noticed splashes of gold on Kara's chin. Cat embraced Kara, moving her head on the heroine's chest. Kara quickly searched for the heart of her lover. She smiled when the hug didn't conduct a distress heartbeat. It overflowed with tranquillity and happiness.
"I'll see you soon, dear." Cat bit her bottom lip walking away from the room.
Cat left her walk-in closet. She gasped at the sight of Kara, sitting down on the bed. Her black skirt revealed her toned legs; black pump heels covered her feet. Kara didn't notice Cat was watching her; the millennial lost over blueprints across their bed. The floor had some papers around the bed.
Cat noticed Kara's long sleeve white lace shirt. She could see the outline of her black lace bra. Kara's make up was stunning and perfect; she was enamored by how Kara wore her hair. The bun was top her head slightly downward from the center while two strands of hair flowed from her temple. Kara's shirt had lace buttons to the neck. Kara pushed her glasses as she turned, studying the blueprints on the floor when she noticed Cat's dress.
"Are you my wife?" She said, facing her full beautiful face towards Cat.
"I can't handle you," Cat smiled, appreciating everything about Kara's clothing. "You look stunning."
Kara uncrossed her legs as she stood, strolling over blueprints and reaching her wife. "No," She lifted Cat's face with her finger. "You look stunning." Kara pulled back, admiring Cat's velvet long sleeve dress. She smiled at her wife's gold accessories; they matched the velvet dress perfectly. "Without sand everywhere." Kara joked, bending her head and kissing Cat's lipstick.
"You're insufferable." Cat slid her finger over Kara's lips, smudging her lipstick. "Gorgeous, but insufferable."
Kara turned, walking over the bed. "Wait until you see the rest." Kara placed her suit jacket, turning around and buttoning the midsection.
"Do we need to go to the gallery?" Cat complained. It was the most gorgeous she has seen Kara with clothes. It was evident extraordinary.
"Yes, honeybun." Kara pouted.
The ride of the gallery was smooth; Ollie looked gorgeous with her white dress. She was nervous because she was going to meet Adam there, but exceptionally excited to see more of her wife's art. She glanced at her gold watch; it was ten minutes past eight.
Thomas round the block, leaving them in front of the gallery. The place was open, like a loft without doors. Cat fell in love with it the moment the car stopped. Wood columns were guiding the entrance of the gallery. Small round lightbulbs wheeled the columns, providing soft blacknesses over the bushes that separated the cement.
The door of the van opened, and Kara was out first, stretching her hand for Olivia to take. Kara looked past the entrance, noticing people already standing inside. She was happy when Kara's warm had held her own. She helped Cat to get out of the car.
A couple of camera flashes caught her attention. Ollie smiled as Kara kept Cat closer, posing for some pictures. They changed her bodies, representing when James came with the camera in hands. After a couple of shots, he directed them inside.
A waiter, dressed in a sharp tuxedo greeted Kara with a glass of champagne once they were inside the gallery. The lighting of the room was perfect, and Cat dissipated of how high the ceiling was, perfect for a gallery.
"The place it's perfect, Kara."
Kara kissed Cat's cheek. "You picked it yourself," Kara whispered.
Alex walked, kissing Kara's and Cat's cheek. "Lovely ladies." She grabbed Ollie's hand. "Mommies will have to speak to some boring people, want to join me?" Ollie smiled. "I was talking to the glasses." Ollie laughed, following Alex's hand. Pointing to where Eliza was talking with Maggie. "You look gorgeous, Olive."
Cat thanked her as she walked. Kara tilted her head, listening. "Adam and Carter are not here; they're at a bar sharing a glass of whiskey." Cat furrowed her brows. "Carter is calling a taxi." Cat's expression softened.
"Thanks, go and attend the media. I'll be walking over your paintings."
"Don't buy anything until you see the main piece."
"I can buy as many as I want, dear." She lifted her glass, walking away from Kara.
Cat encountered a white wall with a medium-size canvas. The background was green, with splashes of silver. Cat took a step closer, realizing they were flowers. Cat smiled, acknowledging the bulb must be from Krypton. The petal had spikes and round corners concurrently. Watching the way soft brushes recreated Kara's planet made her feel calm.
Cat walked, slowly and unhurriedly over paintings, some of them were red, blue, yellow and white. The aesthetic was incredibly pleasant; every single canvas was cohesive to the ones previously. The lighting was key to the colors. Some of the painting was different depending on where you stood.
A bricked wall made her stop her tracks; there was a red painting covering the wall. The canvas was significant; only one lamp focused the art on the floor.
She recognized the silhouette everywhere if she looked at herself in the mirror. Cat turned, finding a leather couch in front of the painting. She had more people, close to her as they all watch the art in absolute silence.
Cat saw the balcony of her room, the railings and her hair moving freely to the left as her body shape was perfect and sharp. Her figure was outlined in red as everything else had different shades of reds.
The light on the floor gave the painting a vibrant effect as if the lamp was the wind that moved the hair.
"She caught you staring at this same painting many times." She heard a familiar voice next to her. Her heart thumped inside her chest with excitement. "You look stunning, mom." Cat quickly stood, embracing Adam. She repeated the same tone his son produced in her mind calling her mom. Tears rushed in her eyes as she pulled back looking at his muscular chest. He smiled, pulling his handkerchief from his jacket and giving it to Cat.
He also had tears in his eyes as she saw the excitement of Cat's face. She touched his son's face. She was admiring everything from it. He was a man, not like Carter, fully grown.
"How are you?" She said, pulling Cat next to him on the leather couch in front of the painting.
"Spectacular." Cat smiled, ignoring the painting for a second. "Tell me about you. How are you?"
Adam smiled, grabbing Cat's hand. "I'm good; Carter told me what happened. I'm sorry this happened to you, mom."
"No, please." Cat smiled, listening to the last word again. "I'm fine, don't worry. Just tell me about you."
"I'm engaged." He nodded. "She's also expecting."
"No, I don't want to be a grandmother." She joked, squeezing his hand.
"Well, not for another seven months." He laughed. "You'll have time to prepare. Kara said the same thing." Cat noticed that Adam had a small box wrapped with an orange bow. "We don't know when the wedding will be."
"Have I met her?" Cat asked interested.
"Yes, she couldn't be here today. She was feeling a little sick."
"Please invite her next time. I would love to meet her." Adam smiled.
"That'll be lovely, mom."
"I'm also not against you having a kid." Cat laughed. "The moment felt adequate for a joke."
"I know," He said, squeezing her hand. "You're funny since you're with Kara."
Cat rolled her eyes with a smile on her face. "Apparently." Cat took a deep breath, focusing over long years and memories with Adam as a kid. "I can't remember this conversation, and this might not be the right place to express all that I'm feeling—
"Mom," He could see Cat's desperation. "I said that you did what you thought was best. I hugged you, kissed you on the cheek and forgave you." He stood, grabbing Cat's hand in his. Cat stood next to him as Adam smiled, recreating the moment, he removed his jacket, placing it on the couch. He slid his shirt out of his dress pants, making Cat chuckle and feel less stressed. "I wore something like this, imagine a black shirt and sweatpants." Cat nodded, thankful. "Mom, you did what you thought was best." He said seriously and with a soft face. Cat nodded as she felt strong muscles hug her. Adam proceeded to kiss his mother's cheek softly. "I forgive you."
Cat placed the handkerchief on her eyes as she nodded. "Thank you, son."
"Any time." He smiled, kissing Cat's cheek again. He started placing his shirt back inside his pants and grabbed his jacket, putting it around his shoulders.
"Bro, bro." Ollie jumped in front of him until he picked her up.
"I got something for you."
"A bowtie for Mr. Knows." Ollie smiled, removing her glasses and placing them over her head. She smiled when she saw through the box.
"How did you know, superpowers?" He joked, oblivious of Olivia's actual superpowers.
Ollie looked at her mother for approval, and Cat was pleased when her daughter placed her hand over Adam's ear and whispered something.
"Really?" He turned to look at Cat's nodding head. "Christmas will not be fun for you, dear sister." Ollie laughed, opening the box quickly finding a banana patterned bowtie.
"It's amazing. He's going to love it." Ollie smiled, grabbing the bowtie and moving so Adam could place her on the floor. He did, and they both saw how Ollie walked over Kara, waiting patiently until the heroine finished talking with a reporter. Kara looked down and interrupted the interview to see Mr. Know's new bowtie.
"I want to hear everything," Adam said, turning to the painting with Cat.
They walked the entire gallery, stopping at the bright room with the main piece. People gathered there, waiting for the covered canvas to be released. Carter later dragged Adam from Cat. Leaving her with her thoughts, she needed to feel in control. Her emotions were jumbled but in perfect synchronization. It was a simultaneous feeling Cat didn't dislike but needed to be alone to control it to perfection.
Kara's pieced were gorgeous and incredibly stunning. She loved her wife's art. She spent minutes, deciding if she was biased of her emotions through the entire gallery. She thought about seeing most of the paintings already. Moreover, nothing compared to the feeling she had now, diminishing they were her wife's and comparing them to another contemporary art painter seemed impossible to ignore. Kara had talent, and she knew it the very first moment she entered their penthouse.
She saw Dianna walking over her with a new glass of champagne. "You look gorgeous."
"So, do you." Cat bowed taking the glass and handing her the empty one to one of the passing waiters.
"I want to buy the main piece," Cat said after sipping.
"You haven't seen the pain piece, Cat." Dianna smiled, shaking her head.
"It has fireflies in it; I need it before I can see it."
Dianna pulled her phone out of her dress' pocket. "Done."
"I feel better already," Cat whispered. She couldn't stand the idea of another person owning what Ollie splattered by accident over her wife's canvas.
"I'll go pay for it." Dianna hugged Cat and left.
"Why do you look so happy?" Kara slid her hand over Cat's dress.
"I just bought the painting, dear." Cat melted at Kara's touch. "You are remarkable. Everything it's perfect." Kara blushed, shaking her head. "I am not saying this because I love you. I do," Cat tilted her head. "But I know about art. I run a fashion media."
"Oh, do you?" Kara kissed Cat's cheek. "You're perfect, did you know that?"
"Let's not have a conversation about me while it's your night, dear." Kara pulled Cat close, hugging her tight. "Thanks for checking on me, go and tend some more potential buyers. Keep them intrigued about the main piece; make them think they might have a chance of buying it."
Kara nodded, clicking her glass with Cat as she mouthed, and I love you.
"You are as solicited as the main artist." She smiled when she recognized Maggie's voice.
"Are you going to tell me that I look beautiful too?" Cat turned, waiting for the moment of the main piece.
"No, you know that already." Maggie stood next to Cat. "This is when you give me a compliment." Maggie turned around, showing her black suit and jacket. Cat noticed she was matching perfectly with Alex from across the room.
"You and Alex look gorgeous," Cat said, looking between both of you. "Matching suits, lovely." Maggie laughed at Cat's tone.
"Nah, we have guns underneath the jacket," Maggie said coolly. Cat rose her eyebrows understanding. "The waiters are DEO agents," She sipped her champagne as she noticed Cat turning and acknowledging all the waiters in expensive tuxedos. "Kara doesn't have guns underneath her jacket or your sons." She calmed Cat.
Cat smiled. "Thank you."
Maggie lifted her glass as she walked away. "You look gorgeous." She shouted.
Kara searched Cat's hand.
Ollie grabbed Cat's hand as everybody got closer to the main room. Kara kissed Cat's cheek. "Stand here." She moved Cat in front of the painting with a smile she pulled the string hanging from the ceiling. The blanket fell softly on the floor.
The light inside the room started flickering as everybody clapped inside the room. The gold fireflies resembled as if they were flying and sparkling in a pattered way. The canvas had dashes of silvers and soft pinks colors resembling minuscule wings.
Cat was proud she bought it beforehand. She was in awe at such intense beauty. The colors were soft, utterly different from Kara's collections outside the room. The piece could stand by itself. The soft colors could give life to a boring empty place.
"It's stunning." Cat pulled Kara closer. "I'm proud of you."
"I finished it this afternoon right before the sand wave." Kara whispered. "I was hoping you'd buy it."
"It's our painting, dear." Cat kissed Kara softly.
"Thank you." Kara smiled when she noticed James hauling her from a distance.
Cat smiled, feeling comfortable. People kept entering the room the place seemed to be more crowded every time. Everybody wanted to see Kara's main piece. Cat finished her glass, she walked over the waiter, switching the cup. This night meant for a party. Her oldest was with her; all kids and family were here, safely under the same room.
"It's crowded there." Somebody said close to her as she sipped her drink. Cat turned her heart, speeding incredibly fast inside her chest. He was wearing a tuxedo, and the salt and pepper beard was gone. "Shh," Retro said, grabbing Cat by her forearm and guiding her away from the main room. "Don't you even dare to whisper something to your wife."
Cat took small deep breaths, not wanting to make the situation out of control. She didn't know this man intentions, and her entire life was underneath high ceilings.
"I won't." Cat nodded, sipping the entire bubbly liquid.
"Good." He said, placing his hands inside his pockets. Cat quickly used her observing methods to identify everything she could on his face. In other circumstances, she wouldn't even dare to look at his face, but being close to him, she could smell strong alcohol and cigarettes. "What game are you trying to play, Catherine?"
Cat couldn't believe he was addressing her by her name. "Different from the one you're playing." She replied, turning the empty glass in her hands. He was close but not as tight for her to break the glass without him noticing the upcoming motion.
"I've noticed." He said, shaking his head. "You think you are clever." He said, watching one of Kara's paintings. "I am smarter."
"Really?" She turned, watching a waiter coming her way with a tray on his hands full of champagne. She slowly turned, extending the empty glass for the waiter to come her way. "I don't think I'm clever, Frank." She used his name, looking at his eyes while she turned slowly and grabbed a new champagne glass. She quickly opened her eyes wider to the waiter and set with a soft smile on her face. "I am."
Retro watched at the waiter walked behind him.
The waiter moved his hand over his back-motioning Cat to back up when he pushed Retro with the metal tray. He quickly slid over the floor, falling a couple of feet away from Cat.
The champagne glasses broke, catching the attention of a couple of people around the area. Retro stood, cleaning the liquid of his tuxedo. The agent of the DEO stood next to Cat.
When he took a step forward, Maggie stood firmly in front of Cat. Cat noticed the small quiet commotion. None of the DEO agents dared to pull their guns. Retro fixed his jacket and took another step. Alex walked, standing next to Maggie. They both stood with one hand inside their jacket.
Cat couldn't understand how this man thought he had a chance to step under a protected place. Carter noticed Alex's behavior, he stood in front of Alex, and she slowly pushed him behind him. He grabbed Cat's hand as they all started at Retro quietly.
"What a show." He said, to his wonder, Kara walked slowly with Ollie in her arms. He smiled, pointing to Kara. Cat released a breath she didn't know she was holding. She thought about taking Ollie out of there; furthermore, Kara wasn't going to let anything happened to neither of them.
Butterflies of sane calmness washed Cat's persona. She snuggled closer to Cat as she noticed Dianna and Eliza, standing close to Maggie.
Some customers from the gallery noticed the tension in a corner. They saw how this man was creating an unusual disturbance.
"That's Retro."
Kara heard somebody whispered. She turned Ollie's face. "Baby look at the fireflies." Kara barely said, knowing her daughters will listen to every word. Olivia complied, turning to the main room.
"Is that Retro." Another person said. More people gathered inside the area. Pulling her phones out and recording the man.
"That's him." Somebody said louder, pulling his phone and recording him.
Adam walked and stood right in front of Retro; Cat held Kara's hand harder in hers. Adam folded his arms, intimidating the shorter man in front of him. She punched him in the face sliding the older man a couple of feet on the floor.
People moved closer, recording what was happening. Retro turned, finding many agents behind him. He pressed a button on his wrist, cutting the lights of the gallery for a second. When the lights went back on, he was gone.
Alex pulled her gun, running out of the gallery. Maggie followed her, shouting for people to move out of her way. Kara passed Ollie to Carter and took a step forward when Cat held her hand stopping her.
"Don't." Cat could see she was lost, outside of the gallery listening to everything. Kara could hear Alex removing her heels and running the opposite direction of Maggie's heels. She looked to the coms of the DEO clearly in her ears. "Don't." Cat was now in front of her wife; people were still recording. Tonight was the most crucial moment. Kara couldn't lose herself, not today. Not right now. "Dear," Cat tried one more time, but Kara was blocks away, listening to NCPD sirens, the firetrucks and the media showing the live video of her gallery over and over.
Cat didn't know how to pull Kara away from her noises, so she stood on her tiptoes, kissing Kara passionately. The heroine quickly shut her eyes, drowning in Cat's perfume. Kara kissed Cat with everything she had. Cat placed her hands on Kara's wet cheeks; she could feel the conflict. She was grateful that Kara didn't kill him right there with her laser beams.
Kara finished the kiss, placing her forehead on Cat's forehead. "Thank you." She murmured.
"Stronger Together," Cat said, stroking her face. "I got you, dear." Cat embraced her wife, lovingly.
