Chapter 5

I was walking. Where? I have no idea. It was dark, like very dark, I was practically blind. There was darkness everywhere I looked. I squinted as I saw a speck of light in the distance. I ray of hope shone above me like sunlight. I started to run towards it hoping that it was some sort of candle or flashlight to help me get out of here. As I got closer to it, it started drifting away from me. I could feel my legs moving faster as the adrenaline rush suddenly kicked in. I had to get to that light. I'm not going to let it leave me here and I'm not gonna let him find me.

I woke up to find a dull light from my window shining on my face. I looked around the room trying to remember exactly where I was. There was a small desk in the corner of the room and a rocking chair by the only window in the room. Oh yeah, I was back in Forks.

I had moved back to my hometown, Forks, also known as the wettest place in the continental US. It was also the place that I had spent the first 18 years of my life trying to run away from.

I guess running is my thing.

I swung my legs over the side of my bed and slowly stood up. I walked into the bathroom and turned the hot water on. I stood under the scorching hot water as I let myself drift into the confinements of my mind.

I thought about how all this started. I mean, I was never one to run from my problems. Huh, it's funny how someone's life can change in a blink of an eye.

I got out of the shower after what felt like an hour. I got into some warm and comfy clothes and went downstairs to the kitchen to get some breakfast.

I got a cereal box out of one of the spacious cupboards and got the milk out of the fridge. I got a bowl out and ate my tiny breakfast.

It seemed like I had been thinking a lot lately. Well, a lot more than usual.

I should probably be hurrying up so that I can go look for a job, but then that means I'll actually have to get up and walk. I don't think I'm in the mood for that today.

My eyes were still droopy and I had dark circles under my eyes. Finding a way back to Forks really exhausted me.

My gaze frantically swept around my room as I recklessly threw my clothes into a huge Macy's tote bag.

Over the past few days I had come to the conclusion that I couldn't stay in Manhattan anymore. It wasn't safe. Not that it was before, but at least I hadn't felt as threatened as I do now.

The reason I was putting some my clothes in the tote bag was because I figured that if I used it I could be very inconspicuous about leaving. I didn't want to make it obvious I was leaving.

I had called for a taxi to pick me up the previous night. I think that will make it easier for me to leave.

I walked over to the big living room window and pushed open a tiny section of the window curtains and saw people walking with their companions, but most of them were on their phones.

My eyes slowly scanned the small area before finally landing on a sleek, black car near the roads' intersection. I couldn't make out any faces in the windows, since they were tinted.

My musings were interrupted by the telephone ringing in the kitchen. I stood up and stared at it until it stopped ringing. I sucked in a breath as it immediately went to voice mail.

"Hi Bella! How are you dear? I heard you were back in town. Well anyway, I hope I can see you soon. Bye."

I breathed out a sigh of relief as I realized that it was just . She used to babysit me when Charlie was working late shifts at the police station.

I lied down on the red, dusty sofa and closed my eyes.

I really need to get the house clean.

I opened my eyes and stared up at the ceiling and let my eyes wander around the room. I could feel my eyelids getting heavier by the second as they continued to droop.

I could see a black widow crawling on the wall as my eyes finally shut and I ventured into paradise.

"She's gone sir."

"What do you mean she's gone?" I asked glaring at Felix.

"As in she's gone, like not here anymore. What's so complicated about that Eddie?" said Emmett as he sat sprawled out on the couch watching a football game.

"Don't call me Eddie." I said as I glared at him and thrust a copy of Bella's file in his hand.

"If I understand it then that means that it's a pretty easy concept to grasp."

"Find her." I said to Felix while walking out of the family parlor. I made a beeline for Jasper's office. We had given him his own office in the house so that it would be easier for him to hack into files without any interruptions, or should I say Emmet.

I knocked on the door while walking in and found Alice sitting down on one of Jasper's chairs.

I sat down on the chair opposite from the one Alice was occupying. I gave her a small nod and looked at Jasper expecting him to give me an update on his development on the rest of Bella's file.

"Do you mind Edward? We were talking." I heard a slightly annoyed voice beside me say.

"Nope." I said while popping the p.

"Ed-"

"Look I just want to see how Jasper is doing on Bella's file, and then I'll be on my way." I said while cutting Alice off.

"I'm almost done with it. I'll probably be done by tomorrow."

"Thank you. I'll be leaving now. Make sure you finish Jasper; I'm getting very impatient."

Ahh, now I can go to sleep peacefully. I hope I can update a new chapter soon. If you have any questions feel free to PM me and I promise that I will answer each and every one of them. Remember to review! :)
