With Eleanora by their side, she became a great asset to the cause. Eleanora was always a people person. She was always someone who made friends with others and had zero enemies. Using her capabilities she was able to communicate with many different people to help Keith and the others gain valuable information.
Eleanora shared information with Keith that was something he did not quite expect. During his time on Paradis after she had left the circus, Eleanora had married a man who was a Royal Knight. Through this man, she met the head of the Royal Knights Samuel. She believed that if she could connect with Samuel, then they would have a great ally to Paradis.
Without hesitation Keith forwarded the information to the Queen as Eleanora tried to make contact with Samuel. Lucas and the others continued to blend into society to learn of the differences between Marley and Eldia.
The discovery of the Tybur family came about, a house of noble Eldians who hold onto the War Hammer Titan. The group is still unsure of the capabilities of the War Hammer Titan but they knew that the situation they were in could easily change if the Tybur family were to find them.
"So you're telling me that this Tybur family created a fictional hero to make Marley look good?" Suit asked sarcastically.
"Correct. They claim that this supposed hero is Helos, a Marleyean who killed the Devil. With that devil being well, you can take a wild guess as to which devil they may be referring to," Emilee proclaimed.
"This devil was supposed to be Prince Weismann. I heard of a rumor that when he left Paradis he disappeared forever. There was no trace of him after his visit to the homeland," Suit added.
"If I remember correctly, his last journal entry claimed that he was going to try and commit suicide or something like that to save the future of the Eldians," Keith stated taking a bite of a sandwich. "It was a way for him to redeem the wrong that his father had done."
"So the Tybur family must have some sort of knowledge of what happened to the Prince and twisted the story," Lucas stated trying to piece together everything.
"A bunch of lying ass hats if you ask me," Suit replied kicking his feet up and leaning back in his chair.
"Suit, what has gotten into you?" Deck questioned.
"Yeah, you seem to know an awful lot about the Weismann story. Lana has been researching the past of our people for years, and so has many others in the coalition and not once have they turned up with the stories that you've shared," Keith questioned concerned about Suit.
"Give it time, besides shouldn't you be more concerned about what's at hand right now rather than little old me," Suit replied with a sly smile.
Keith shook off Suit's change in behaviour and continued to discuss the situation. It had been many months since they had set foot on Marley and begun this operation together. It was only natural for people's true colors to show. Suit was often the quiet one who kept to himself letting Deck be the main face of their two man show. However, lately Suit seemed to take things through a different approach. Almost as if there was something that had sparked his interest.
In the time that they had been on Marley they had all decided to change their appearance to avoid being identified. Keith's shaggy blonde hair was now buzzed cut with a longer hair on the top. He was also now sporting facial hair which made him appear much older than he was. Lucas had also grown thick black hair that was short barely touching his ears. His thick bushy beard covered most of his face leaving him unrecognizable. Mia grew her hair out substantially while Emilee cut her hair to her chin. Oscar let his beard grow much like Lucas while Luca refused to change his appearance at all. There changes in appearance was nothing to them. It was all part of their duty for Paradis.
As the group continued to discuss the Tybur family. Eleanora had mentioned that Samuel had agreed to side with Paradis. After confronting the King of Rhea it was proclaimed that the Rheans will do whatever it takes to stop and bring Marley down after the attack that had happened to them a while ago.
Over a few days a plan was created. Samuel was to approach the Marleyean government on behalf of the King and sign a treaty of neutrality. The two nations will neither ally nor attack each other. Under their nose, the kingdom of Rhea will aid Paradis with whatever they needed and attack Marley. Once Paradis advances far enough Rhea will send their own troops to break the neutrality and help bring the country down. On behalf of the newly established clan of titans, the soldiers would fight. The titans of Rhea would remain within the homeland in case things went south.
Keith was sitting in a room with a drawn out map working on a strategy to send to Paradis on weak points alongside Lucas and Emilee.
"Samuel says that they will supply soldiers for the boats and the airship that will help bring our soldiers here. Now the situation right now is the amount of soldiers required for this operation."
"We aren't exactly going in sneaky are we?" Emilee asked Keith.
"I don't think it's possible. So we need to load them up with as many soldiers as we can. Any way we can gain the upper hand the better. Now I will need to contact Commander Hange in the involvement of the titan shifters." Keith was about to continue when the door swung open.
Luca quickly came inside with a letter in his hands.
"Luca, can't you see we are in the middle of something?" Keith scolded.
"My bad sir, but you need to see this."
"It can wait. Now the two shifters Eren and Armin…"
"Captain you really want to see this, it's about Eren Yeager."
"First, why are you reading the letter? And second what the fuck did that moron do this time?"
Keith calmly grabbed the letter from his hands as Luca stepped aside. He read the letter and had a moment of annoyance come across him.
"Son of a bitch!" Keith yelled.
"What, what!" Lucas asked in a panic.
"Yeager is somewhere here on Marley."
Disbelief was shown on Emilee's and Luca's faces.
"You don't think he was captured do you?" Emilee asked.
"Thankfully according to this letter he wasn't. So with that being said we have to change the plan to accommodate that. Most likely at this point our goal is to extract Eren from the site. He can't be here on his own. Which means we can't advance just yet. We need to make sure that our shifters are securely in our hands. Which also means we need to let Rhea know of this turn of events so that they don't attack."
"So what do we do?" Lucas asked.
"Well that means our plan has changed. Luca send off a letter. Find out what they are planning to do with this situation. Put in a possible request for all available Survey Corps soldiers. If things go horribly wrong we are going to need a wall back home. I want as many soldiers ready to go in case things turn for the worse. Then I want oy to address the situation to Rhea and let them know to remain on standby."
"Yes sir!" Luca shouted and took off to follow his orders.
"My, my, my what a strong man you've become," Eleanora chimed as she leaned in the doorway overhearing the entire conversation.
Keith paid no mind to her and continued to devise up a further plan. It was days before the adjustments were fully made and prepared. Survey Corps soldiers were to make their way to Marley as discretely as possible. Following the previous plan Samuel would assist in the transport of the soldiers from Paradis to Marley. Once on Marley Samuel will meet with the heads of the military for the discussion on the treaty. Meanwhile, the Survey Corps will remain out of sight and at the ready.
Knowing Eren Yeager, it was expected for him to make a big move in front of many. Mia concluded that if Eren were to do anything it would be during a large performance put on by the Tybur family. The family put on a show every year telling the lying tale of Heros. They were basically going off of a hunch at this point just from what they knew of Eren.
Upon the Queen's concern as well as the concern of many others, many soldiers prepared themselves for a war. All remaining soldiers manned the city and strengthened the defenses. Although, the concern was severe. Orders were given to veteran soldiers who were are still capable of taking up arms to be pulled back into the fray. When news of this came to Keith he became more distraught. The stress of being within the environment was already too much for him to handle.
Keith stood at a desk with a cigarette in his hand. After reading the latest letter on the list of veteran soldiers joining the operation. He crumpled the piece of paper up and slammed his hand hard on the desk. Luca did nothing but remained still and wide eyed as Keith had a meltdown.
"They were not to be a part of this, none of this! The Commander promised me that they would not be a part of anything to do with this!" He proceeded to shout.
Luca remained still as Deck and Suit entered the room.
"You need to relax Keith," Suit proclaimed.
"RELAX!" he shouted grabbing a dagger from the desk and threw it into the wall by Suit's head.
Suit wasn't fazed by the attack as a small line of blood formed on his cheek. He even went as far as to crack a slight smile.
"Soldier boy, you should leave," Deck said to Luca.
Luca was unsure of how to respond. He complied and walked out of the room leaving Deck and Suit alone with Keith. However, Luca didn't go far. He remained close by and waited to see what would happen. Minutes passed by in complete silence. It was almost haunting how quite it was after seeing how upset Keith was. It was unnerving for Luca prompting him to peer through the open door.
Keith's head was resting in Suit's hand. His eyes were closed, it was almost as if Keith was asleep standing up. When Suit let go, Keith was alert and silent. Deck and Suit left the room and didn't make eye contact with Luca as they passed. Concerned Luca ran back to see Keith. To his surprise Keith was calmly sitting at a desk as if nothing had happened. Luca didn't question it and Keith paid no mind to Luca.
The day finally came. Keith and the others made their way to the docks. There was a ship that was dressed as a Rhean military boat. Everything seemed to be going as planned. However, there was one person on this ship that would make an impact to their plans. Coming down from the stairs was a woman. Her black hair was tied back as she wore casual fitted clothes. Although he hated to see her here, he opened up his arms and embraced her.
"Well, well, well, it's about damn time that you showed up," he said as the two made contact with each other.
"What on Earth are you two doing here?" she asked and pulled away from him.
"Keep it down would yeah," Keith tried shushing her. He leaned in a whispered, "We aren't exactly supposed to be here remember."
Just as he was about to continue there was a shrill shriek that came from behind them. Eleanora came barrelling down the dock with open arms and grabbed Lana. After everyone had caught up they began to make their way to the apartment where their base of operations was. As they were started to make their trek to the theater, Keith couldn't help but to notice the look on Lana's face. She was fixated on Deck and Suit who remained on the dock. The two seemed to be arguing with each other as she continued to stare at them. Lucas pulled her away and continued to guide her away from the dock.
When everyone had returned, Deck and Suit seemed to be out of character. Deck was completely on edge while Suit remained calm in a very unsettling way. Something didn't sit right with Keith. It hadn't since the time in his office. Keith remembered being angry about Lana and Robin going back to the line of duty. He was informed that Lana was going to be with them on Marley to join their operations while Robin was to be in charge of defensive units on Paradis. He was upset when Deck and Suit had entered the room. He remembered hearing the two of them talk and his mind started to shift. He couldn't remember anything that was said. The strangeness expanded even further than that. For a while now, Suit had been acting differently entirely. As if he was a totally different person. He was cocky, sly, and a plain jackass about everything. Nothing compared to the quiet man hiding in the shadow of his partner.
Keith knew that Deck and Suit are just stage names that they go by. He never once found out of their true identities. All he knew was that Deck was a shifter and brother to Damien. The three of them would do street performances to earn a living. Often their performances involved a deck of cards hence where they got their names. Damien was just in charge of collecting money and knew nothing. However after the other day, Keith began to feel like there is more to the two of them than he had originally thought. He decided to try and separate them from the group and maybe get answers on their true intentions.
It was an opportunity of a lifetime. Lana was with Lucas catching up and informing him of his family. His squad were on patrol around the city making sure that everything was going to be set in motion for Samuel and Lana while looking for the Survey Corps. Meanwhile, Eleanora was with her two children preparing as medical support.
Deck and Suit were alone in their shared room. Keith lightly tapped on the door to get their attention. He was greeted by Deck shortly after who bore a looked of nervousness. He stood in the doorway with a paranoid look on his face as Keith entered. The once cool and calm bad boy was now a timid squirrel. Suit, who never said much to begin with was now the one taking charge.
Keith had grown suspicious of them since their behaviours had swapped. He had the sense that they would betray them. Going into the room he was prepared for anything, even going as far as to conceal a knife in his sleeve and a gun in his pants.
"Why hello there my good Captain. What brings you here on this fine evening?" Suit asked accentuating a few words in a snarky tone.
"I just want to talk if that's alright with you," Keith replied to reassure that he had nothing up his sleeve.
Deck turned to Suit who gave a nod of approval. Keith walked in without further hesitation unsure of what he should prepare himself for. He was about to say something when Deck had closed the door. In a panic Keith had focused on his arms. In that split second he had sharply shot weak but sharp bones from them in a defensive position. In that same second, Suit had swiftly moved from across the room at Keith. Suit had quickly placed two fingers on either side of Keith's temple missing the bones entirely.
There was no explanation as to what was going on. It was as if a surge of energy was running through every part of Keith. He was feeling weaker and grew very tired. What seemed like minutes was only a matter of a few seconds. The bones had shattered and evaporated from his arms and he had lost feeling in them. Everything went white and Keith found himself falling to the ground. He was down there for an unknown amount of time.
Keith slowly got up and could hear Suit, "With her power and my power, there is nothing that can stop us."
As Keith sat up trying to piece together what happened he began to rub his face. It was then that he realized that he was shackled to a bed.
"What? What's going on," he started to say with anger.
"Huh, it was a lot shorter than I anticipated," Suit started to say as he walked closer twirling the gun that Keith had once had hidden. "Then again your ancestors were known to be immune to the power on the average. It only makes sense that he didn't fully succumb to it," he leaned in close to Keith's face and then pulled away, "Well at least it was long enough to put the shackles on him," he said with a smile.
"We are so screwed," Deck said with a moan.
"Relax you worry too much," Suit replied pulling up a chair.
He pulled out three cards and held them up in front of his face with the backs facing Keith.
"Pick a card any card my good man!" he proclaimed.
"You're a fool. Let me go now!" Keith snarled.
Suit smiled with an impish grin. He threw the cards off to the side and stood up.
"There is something that I've been wanting to ask you, but I've been afraid of how you would respond. So in order to prevent anything I had you shackled up," he stated flicking Keith in the nose.
"And you really thought this would stop me if you tried anything?" Keith asked with annoyance and frustration.
"Well no, but you see I do have a few tricks of my own up my sleeve," Suit stated rolling his sleeve up.
He held his arm up in front of him and stared directly at Keith. Keith watched as steam slowly began to rise from Suit's skin. A bone structure began to form very slowly around his arm much like Keith's own armor plating. He was in shock as his eye widened.
"Who's the fool now Captain Abderdeen?"
"What do you want?" Keith asked with a snarl. "Why are you even here!?"
Suit stepped close to Keith and got right into his face. His green eyes were intense as they stared into Keith's.
"I want what belongs to me. I want the throne of Rhea," he said with extreme intimidation.
Keith believed that this was a preposterous idea. He couldn't believe what Suit was saying and called him out on it. It wasn't worth to go through all of that when Suit himself participated in the revolution to have titans be equals.
He started laughing, "You are willing to risk all of that for a stupid throne?"
"You just don't see it do you!" Suit yelled. "I don't blame you, no one ever has. No one ever was supposed to."
Suit was making no sense to Keith as he kept pacing back and forth in the room.
"For years I had to bare this burden. This knowledge. I can't live this way anymore knowing that my family for years has always been tattered and torn. We were never pieced back together after everything was stripped away from us. One of us even tried to recreate a new haven to grow in and that turned into a pile of shit that we see right out these doors. We have always been separated from each other almost as if we were bound by a cruel fate," he stopped his pacing and slumped onto a table. He took a moment to himself before speaking again. "The Weismann line was broken and never repaired. But now, now we have a chance to fix that. And I Cecil Weismann will try to wipe the blood from our history and start anew."
Cecil, otherwise known as Suit, is one of the last living members of the Weismann line from Rhea. He explained to Keith that the daughter of LeBlanc and the Weismann Princess had been kidnapped by Emil Weismann. This wasn't new information to him, he was well aware of the actions that Emil had done unto the kingdom after the uprising.
The young child Diana Weismann did grow to live in a happy life. She had no family aside from those who had adopted her. In order to protect her she was branded by a mark in the shape of a raven. Although she herself was not a part of the notorious group, it enabled her a sort of protection from them. She grew among others who were like her and proceeded to marry and bear children of her own. She was well aware of who she was and what she represented to many people. She was the hope for the freedom of the titans. She was the true heir to the throne in more ways than one. However, seeing her father's treatment of titans, she chose not to act.
Years went by and so did each generation. The Weismann powers began to diminish drastically with each generation. Their pure lineage was no longer pure. It had been mixed with human blood and therefore affected the genetic makeup of their abilities. Overtime, more and more human blood began to take hold of the Weismann line. Much like other bloodlines, there had come a time where a Weismann was unable to shift. Cecil was the first one in the bloodline. He was able to utilize some of the capabilities of the Weismann line such as the mind manipulation and minor transformations of his body. However, he is unable to change into a full form and grow to substantial heights.
Over the years, the Weismann family was always torn apart. They were hunted and killed among the rest of the titans, abandoned, separated from unpreventable circumstances. Each person had their own story to tell and most were eradicated during the purge.
Cecil Weismann lived with his parents under the protection the Crovus Clan. Carl McGill was one of the very few who were aware of the whereabouts of various titan shifters not just the royal ones. He and Neal Sidonia tried to protect the Weismann family as much as they could. They even went as far as to have them homed in a secluded region. They had become the new sword and shield of the family.
Although he was very young at the time, he remembered his mother expecting a child. A doctor was present along with Carl at the time of the birth. As they waited patiently, Cecil recalled seeing people approach the house through the window. Carl quickly grabbed Cecil and began to make their way out of the back door. Cecil's father told the doctor to take their newborn and to leave. That was the moment that he never saw his family again.
As time passed Cecil was able to visit the Doctor who was raising the young Alannah Weismann. Due to Cecil being branded as an official Crovus Clan member in order to live with Carl, Cecil was forbidden to allow Alannah to remember him or to use his powers on anyone else. After every visitation he would erase her memories making her forget everything about him.
As a part of his new life within the clan, Cecil began to meddle in simple card tricks. Instead of following the route of a mercenary, he decided to take the path of a con artist. Here was where he met his life partner Clyde Hawthorne. Cecil and Clyde took up the names Suit and Deck as a way to erase their past. For Cecil it was a potential for him to forget about everything and to maybe even let go of it.
Cecil was well aware of the world around him. He would constantly watch people in the streets and listen to conversations. He knew from the conversations that Carl had with Neal that he was an heir to the throne, which his sister Alannah was on the run from and was tortured by. It broke his heart. All he wanted was to go back to that moment that he once had. After years of digging into his lineage, he learned that that was the case for everyone in his family. No happy endings. He wanted that happy ending.
With the revolution in Rhea it was a glimmer of hope for all titans. They were deemed as equals, but Cecil wasn't satisfied with that. He wanted everything to go back to the way things used to be. The current ruler on the throne is a very distant relative of LeBlanc. One of the direct lineage rulers never bore a child and therefore the throne was passed to the closest blood relative. With Weismann and Leblanc blood running through his veins, he wanted to challenge the throne. He didn't want to overthrow it like the past. He wanted to do it right and properly and try to gain the support of the people to become the new ruler, the rightful ruler. However, he didn't want to do it alone. Cecil wanted his sister by his side and this was the closest chance of having that. All he needed from Keith was his help to talk to her and convince Lana to leave.
"You're insane!" Keith proclaimed.
"And you're pathetic," Cecil growled.
He flew towards Keith and firmly grabbed his face. There was complete rage in Cecil's eyes it was terrifying.
"DON'T UNDERESTIMATE A WEISMANN!"
The words jolted through Keith as things began to feel different from before. This was not the same ability that Keith had experienced earlier.
"Cecil stop!" Deck cried grabbing onto Cecil's arms.
No matter how hard Deck pulled Cecil's grip was firm and true.
Blackness came over Keith as he began to fall deep down into it. He could hear the quiet whispers of his mind. They were things that he remembered clearly. The more he focused on those sounds the more he began to realize what they were. They were the memories of his past. Moments with his family and friends. It was everything that he held onto so dear.
The voices began to form into images. He was reliving those moments of bliss and sadness. Each day that passed by. Each face that he saw. Soon the sights and sounds became more. He could smell the fresh flowers and feel the rain on his skin. He was truly back in each moment he had had. It was at this point he had to think to himself. He began to believe that this was what it had to be like to die. This was it, the moment he was seeing his life flash before his eyes.
What seemed like endless time became finite. The feeling of the sun's rays and the smell of Robin's perfume began to disappear. The sights slowly faded away into blackness again. But there was one voice that remained. It was Lana's. Keith turned to see a white light and ran towards it.
When he emerged from the light he was sitting in the main room with Cecil and Clyde. Lana was in a chair. Her face was red as if she was crying as Cecil was holding onto her hands. He stood up catching Clyde's attention. He wore a look of disbelief as if Keith wasn't supposed to be there.
"My home is with those on Paradis."
"But what about me your brother. We are finally reunited. The Weismann Line is back together again," Cecil cried out in a panic.
"Cecil, I'm only just now finding out that you are my brother. For crying out loud, you've given me information that I'm not even sure what to do with. I finally know the names of my parents. Remus and Acadia who would have thought." She stopped and let out a sigh. "Right now, let me just play this role of a soldier so I can step into my role as a mother."
"But the throne can be ours!" he proclaimed.
"But it's not my home anymore. It just wouldn't feel right to do it. Besides, I'm still technically a wanted criminal in Rhea," she replied with a small smile.
"I understand," he responded by letting go of her hand. "Just let me do one last thing."
Lana allowed it and he calmly stepped towards her. He grabbed a firm hold of her face and pulled her towards his. Their foreheads touched as Cecil released all of the memories that he had supposedly erased from her memory. All of their encounters and their times spent together. It was enough to bring both to tears at the thought that she hadn't remembered any of it.
Lana had finally left the room leaving Cecil on his knees trying to hold back the tears.
"Everything…I have truly lost everything."
The words struck Keith as he bolted towards Cecil. He picked him up with great force and pinned him to the wall with a newly formed bone spike from his wrist. Cecil let out a loud wail in agony and pain.
"Don't underestimate a Nacht descendant. Weismann or not, you have no right to do any of what you just did. Don't you understand! You said you've lost everything. You don't even know. You may have lost you parents, but you aren't the only one. I had to watch my family brutally get decapitated by the Royal Knights. The very Royal's that overthrew the pathetic excuse of a ruler, heck they were betrayed by the princess." Keith shouted getting closer to Cecil's face, "Better yet, my parents were betrayed by the very people that they called comrades. I've watched countless men and women put their lives down in the line of duty. I have personally watched the fear in someone's eyes as they take their final breath. So don't talk to me about losing everything when you just barely know the feeling of loss. I am fighting to keep what I have, I'm not about to go and lose all of that for some meaningless goal. Now think about that one before you even begin to think that you have lost everything." Keith retracted the bone from Cecil's shoulder allowing him to drop to the ground. "I scrounged from the dirt and let go of my past in order to get everything that I have now. Think about what you have now and don't let go of that." Cecil turned and made eye contact with the very frightful Clyde. "You pissed off the wrong person. I'd be careful of what you do or say from here on out. Just be thankful I don't turn your sorry asses in." Keith stormed out of the room.
Keith had returned to his room and firmly placed himself on his bed. He had pulled out the gun that was returned to him and examined the beautiful crest. His anger and frustration at Cecil's foolish actions had left Keith feeling guilty for lashing out. The words he spouted at Cecil were harmful but true.
"Who am I kidding? He never really had much to begin with. What he once had was taken away from him. The poor guy has every right to be as upset as he was. Heck fifteen years ago, I probably would have thought the same. But was I really right to say all of those things?"
"It was needed to be said," came Clyde's voice.
Keith turned to see him in the doorway. He was back to the cool calm demeanor.
"Cecil was growing crazy with his ambitions. Over the last several years he was willing to do anything in order to get what he wanted. His ideals were very unrealistic to me. But when we saw Lana alive and well on the docks, heck even I began to grow some hope for him. However, he needed to hear that. Cecil needs to learn to let go of the past and to move into the future. The past is the only thing that has been holding him back from growing into a man he wants to be. I love him, I really do, and it pains me to see how twisted he had become. Thank you Captain. I owe you anything you desire for what you have given us."
"I don't understand. What did I exactly give?"
"You gave us hope. Hope for a new beginning."
After Keith had left, Cecil and Clyde had shared a moment with each other. Cecil had begun to reconsider everything. He still wanted to reclaim the throne and redeem the Weismann name. But he was going to go about it through a different approach entirely. With Clyde by his side he believed that he could do anything. With Lana's declination and Keith's strong words, it was the precise thing that Cecil needed to set his mind into a better direction. In order to become a king, Cecil needed to act like a true and just one.
Once everything was over, their plan was to return to Rhea and work on an approach. Cecil was going to present himself as a new person and pull himself out of the darkness that they lived in. They were going to work on campaigns and gain the trust of the people and titans. With enough supporters, he wanted to challenge the throne and let the people decide who was fit to be the true ruler of Rhea.
