"I thought when you said scary normie movies, you meant the normies were the scary ones." Frankie cocked her head at the normie dressed to resemble her dad lumbering around on screen. Though if she didn't know better she could have assumed he was a real monster. They did a good job on the makeup and what not. In grainy black and white it was easy to trick the eye.

"No I meant normie MADE movies. Though really I'm not sure how this is supposed to be scary."

"I think there's a difference between horror and this old timey stuff though" Draculaura pointed out "I remember when these movies came out they were spooky for the time, but ah... the humans seem to like outdoing themselves."

"But they were made to frighten other normies right?" Frankie asked, trying to imagine Jackson in the human's position on screen. Cowering in fear, with over dramatic screaming. Or would he be the crazed scientist instead? That seemed more fitting. She knew he got bullied sometimes but she found it hard to imagine Jackson freaking out over the sight of his friends.

"As much as I'm enjoying this uh… homage… to my family" Frankie scratched her bolt.

Draculaura nodded "I'm getting a bit bored too." she rummaged through the 4 disc collection of black and white classic monster films and held one up "Wanna try The Invisible Man?"

Frankie thought about InvisiBilly as their best comparison.
"Sure? I'm wondering how that's supposed to be scary."

Clawdeen painted her claws carefully and scoffed "Normies find everything scary. It's not about logic. They just scream at like… oh someone has fangs… oh no there's a … slimey guy."

Draculaura shrugged, switching out the disks, while Lagoona came back with a fresh batch of popcorn. "Hey slime is a naturally occuring part of the body to lock in your moisture." She autoresponded "Wait, who are we talking about?"

"I mean that's not completely true." Frankie spoke up, "Jackson's never screamed at any of us. His mom answered the door fine even…" she took that moment to scoot over to Draculaura's window and look at the Jekyll household once again. The apparently unfamiliar van still parked there.

"As we're about to see from this one" Draculaura struck an educational tone "Mad scientists are the exception.." she gave a fang filled smile "They make monsters. Sometimes they make a monster out of themselves."

Frankie glanced at the house again, "Jackson's mom didn't do that. Or uh, his dad? I never really asked him which he got it from..."

Clawdeen pointed out "She did still make a monster though. Well 1 and a half."

Frankie chewed on the thought and the popcorn as the menu screen loaded to a man removing his bandages to reveal nothing underneath.

Scarah drummed her fingers at the die-ner. Glancing around at the other monster couples here on a friday night for a date.

Catching thought-drifts regarding Cleo's party the next day. Unsure of what she was actually hearing as vocal gossip versus what was in her head.

She fixed her skirt as the waitress came to take her order. She was a scaley older lady with four arms. Two of which were taking orders.

"Oh we'll just start out with two root fears." Scarah asked for politely.

The waitress looked at the empty seat across from her.

"We?"

Scarah mirrored her glance to the vacant spot.

She cleared her throat.

"He's invisible."

"Uh huh… well I'll get your drinks then…" The waitress walked off sounding like she didn't believe her.

Scarah rolled her eyes, not that anyone could tell, and looked towards the door of the establishment, it opening on its own.

The squeak of sneakers and an out of breath teenager coming closer as the seat across from her sank in with her boyfriend's weight.

"Sorry I'm late Scarah. I forgot I was invisible at a crosswalk and almost got hit by a car."

She had lowered her eyelids to look at him unamused but knew his story checked out. It was useless to try and lie to her.

"It's fine. You're not that late." she waved him off "Do you mind visifying?"

He clouded into view giving an innocent smile to their waitress who walked past surprised that Scarah was telling the truth.

"It's not a problem. It'll be easier once I get some food though." InvisiBilly faded to ghost translucently. They both heard an alert and InvisiBilly brought his phone up to check his messages and text back.

"You can also tell Jackson or Holt to not text us while we're on a date." She asserted reading where his mind was at and more or less what his eyes were reading.

"Oh yeah. Ok." InvisiBilly looked at Jackson's text asking for help tonight. Something about not having all the chemicals still. Errr… his mind and eyes drifted back to his ghoul demanding attention.

"I mean I wouldn't say I'm demanding it but it's common courtesy." Scarah scoffed.

"Hey it's not fair to call me out on thoughts. I never said anything about you demanding attention."

"You didn't have to." Scarah reminded him "But it's whatever. I'm not mad or anything."

For a minute InvisiBilly truly wished he could get away with a lie about checking the time or something. Being invisible he almost always had privacy except around…

He tried to clear his thoughts as Scarah was starting to get a hint of being hurt on her face.

"Sorry." he reached out to hold her hands. He knew she didn't always enjoy her power either. It wasn't fair to think of it like that.

Another phone ping rang through their booth.

InvisiBilly smirked, as Scarah pulled her hands away and checked her own phone. Quickly diverting her attention to her own phone. Read in a hurry then texting back just as fast.

"Oh so you're allowed to text on dates but-"

"Sorry it's Hoodude. He's having some sort of crisis. Er… about his identity? You know I'm the one he tells everything to."

InvisiBilly went back to checking his own phone now that she saw the hypocrisy "Yeah I know. But I mean isn't everything a crisis to him? He's kind of a drama queen…"

"The er queen part is sort of what this is about actually…" Scarah cocked her head "If I'm reading this right I think he's finally figuring out he's uh… not meant for Frankie if you know what I mean."

InvisiBilly stopped "Oh? You mean the way he's so 'into drama class'" he added with air quotes.

Scarah grimaced and just kept texting "Yeah I mean. I wasn't the only one to notice. I think the whole school but Hoodude himself actually knows he's…" she paused while their waitress came back with their root fears, and waited for her to pass before she added "Sensitive…"

"You can just say really freakin' gay y'know?" InvisiBilly asserted "Come on Scarah."

She shrugged again and went back to texting "The point is… he needs someone there for him."

InvisiBilly looked at his own iCoffin. "I mean… so does Jackson."

"Jackson's into guys too?" Scarah stopped texting.

"Pfft no! I meant he also needs help. Which is why I'm multitasking when he's asking me for assistance."

"Oh. Right. Sorry, I saw this funny image on the Ghostly Gossip sent to me today about you and Jackson but…" she snorted "If Spectra ever needs a fact checker I'd be the one to call."

"It's not about the facts, it's about the headline" Invisi took a sip of his drink and slid out the menu before their waitress got impatient with them.

Then looked back to his girlfriend invested in her own phone.

He cleared his throat, til she finished up and looked up at him sheepishly.

"Eh sorry, love…" Scarah flicked the silence switch on her device.

"That's ok. I just need to call an emergency meeting of the Disappearing Club. Tonight. Like late late tonight."

Scarah seemed lost as InvisiBilly hadn't made his thoughts as transparent as his body.

"I don't follow…"

"Well no Twyla, Howleen or Catty but you, me and Jackson." He got a mischievous look on his face "How'd you like to play "Spy"?"

Scarah glanced around to see if anyone was listening to them.

"Oh?"

"Ok. Jackson needs help tonight. Getting into the school. But like extra help. Likeee mind reader help. Janitor keys help. Bolt cutters help."

"Bolt cutters?"

"They put new locks on the cabinets in Mad Science." InvisiBilly slid his phone over to Scarah to let her fully read Jackson's request. "He's pretty confident he can't fix himself without these missing chemicals. He just needs one more shot and a good amount of time to acquire them."

Scarah bit her cheek.

"Look I know it's kind of a risk… but who better in the school than us? Besides.. You'll get a chance to show off…"

"Showing off defeats the point of the Disappearing Club you know."

"Honestly, that just makes me crave it more, and I know you feel the same way. Come on it's for a good cause. It's not like we're shoplifting." He poked her leg with his shoe under the table. "Scarah…~"

"Heh, ok. Alright yeah. I'm in." Scarah folded her arms making a plan. "Just let me finish up with Hoodude… this might last all weekend."

"Hey you're the one getting uptight about phones at the table" InvisiBilly rolled his silver-grey eyes.

Scarah just made a noise of affirmation.

The four armed waitress arrived again for their orders.

"I'll have the Clubbed-to-Death Sand-Witch with french flies"

Scarah didn't look up from her phone.

"She'll have the same thing."

Scarah giggled nodding.

"You read my mind…~"

A girl with long black hair covering her face began to crawl out of the well. The five bluddies scooted closer to each other, eyes glued to the screen.

Heath tugged on Jackson's shoulder "Uhm… Jackson said these are all made up right?" he asked what he assumed was his blue cousin.

Jackson raised an eyebrow "What are you, scared?"

"N-no…"

Clawd spoke up sounding far less afraid "I don't know how made up this is but I feel like I've seen that chick somewhere..."

Deuce fed a piece of popcorn to one of his snakes "You're thinking of Draculaura after practice."

Clawd laughed "Oh yeah! After the girls do cheer, she showers, and takes her hair down." he pointed at the ghastly ghoul reaching out towards the screen "She reaches towards me just like that when she's starving."

"Huh, I was thinking more along the lines of Spectra or Scarah. Someone more … ghostly" Gil gurgled "She's kind of cute though. For a land ghoul." he mentioned evaluating the apparition on the screen, long black hair covering her white face as she unnaturally crawled around.

Heath let out a nervous giggle "Uhh I don't know about you guys but I prefer to be able to see my ghoul's face…"

Clawd gave him a reassuring pat "Don't worry Heath. Ghosts don't tend to haunt fellow monsters."

"Is that a rule or just a preference?" Heath asked for clarity.

Jackson was in his own world though. Subtly confirming with InvisiBilly of his plans. He had to wait til everyone was asleep but if he could sneak out tonight… It's not like he needed sleep after all.

He had a feeling everyone else was getting tired though. They'd all moved on to their pajamas. Maybe they suspected he was tired too. They weren't questioning his constant need to party. He wondered how well they knew Holt. Did Holt ever slow down? He had to. No way anyone could keep that up forever. Or did they just change shifts when he did?

Jackson's head hurt over all of this.

He heard the murmurs of his friends laughing over… something. But it was too difficult to focus.

He closed his eyes.
