Chapter 50
It's honestly really hard to get back into writing. I'd been gone for so long. However, I never stopped thinking about my stories. I have a lot of plots I want to write, I just don't have a way to connect them to what's currently going on. I hope you all are patient with me. ONWARD TO THE BATTLE FIELD!
It had been several weeks since Raven had moved to Haven House, and several days since the incident on the street. No charges were filed, and Raven was lucky enough to be let off with a warning. Unfortunately, Dr. Leland had to go away for a week. A family emergency, she was told, which left Raven with nothing to do but stay at Haven. One week without therapy. That said Raven wasn't complaining all that much as it left her with a few days to get out of the norm and get to know her roommate whom felt that Raven could do for some down time from "Whatever that may be bugging her." As she had put it. Raven never told her about her therapy visits. Today, was spent with Sue-sue in what was known as the Rec room of the house. Usually the residence weren't supposed to spend all day there (Gisselle said it encouraged laziness.) however, Sue-sue convinced the head of the house to let them. Raven had no idea what she said to convince Gisselle but was kinda happy to have the privilege.
"So, what movie do you wanna watch?" Sue-sue asked while Raven sat with Cherie on the couch. Sue-sue sat in front of the shelf that held all of the DVD's, there wasn't a whole lot of a selection, some old 80's movies including; Pretty in pink, clueless, Footloose, top gun and a few others. There were a few modern movies as well like the twilight series, (a movie Raven had strongly declined.) the greatest showman, and a few other relatively new titles. Raven sat curled up on the couch with her head leaning on her arm as it was propped up on the arm rest, wearing a purple oversized sweater that hid the inhibitor collar and yellow leggings. She looked to Sue-sue.
"Whatever you want Sue-sue, I'm not too picky." She told her, to which sue-sue made a face.
"Except for twilight." She said.
"Except for Twilight." Raven reaffirmed. Sue-Sue laughed, causing Raven to laugh along with her. The joy was, however, very short lived when the two heard a familiar voice harp in.
"I really fail to see why Ms. Gisselle let you two stay in all day." It was Brit with her small posse of gal-pals, "While everyone else isn't allowed to!"
Raven watched as Sue-sue became uncomfortable in her spot on the floor. She hated how the black haired barbie-wannabe made her friend feel, it pissed her off actually. She gave brit a sideways glare. "Life's rough, get a helmet."
"Excuse me!? I didn't ask you!" Brit spat. Raven looked up at her but remained seated.
"And nobody asked you either, yet here we are." She said, "Listening to that annoying nasally shrill voice."
From the corner of her eye Raven saw Sue-sue get nervous as Brit turned red with frustration. From what she had told Raven before, no one ever stood up to Brit before, and those that did rarely stuck around for long in Haven House. To Raven, that last bit sounded like paranoia.
"You think you're tough, do you? With your bad attitude and blue hair?" Brit asked, suddenly calm. Raven said nothing, she didn't need to, she knew she could put her in her place, even without her powers. She'd done it before with Nancy, and she could do it now with her. Brit placed her hand to her cheek, "Hey girls, don't you wonder why it is, this Raven girl came here with no clothes to spare?"
"Yes Brit, I have been curious." Said the girl to Brit's left.
"Surely she had some clothes to wear." Said the girl to Brit's right. Raven remained silent as she narrowed her sapphire eyes. Whatever this buck toothed girl was getting at Raven wasn't amused.
"Whatever you're getting at, get to the point." She said in a bored tone as she waved Brit away, "You're interrupting an important decision."
"H-hey, girls, let's all just try to relax a bit…" Sue-sue said trying to ease the palpable and murderous tension between the duo. Brit snapped her glare to Sue-sue.
"Shut up whore!" She spat, then turned her full attention to the redhead who sat on her knees on the floor. Sue-sue broke eye contact as she looked down while Brit marched up to her and towered. "You think we don't know why you're here Sue-sue Hec?" She then looked to Raven with a smile that oozed toxicity. "It's Haven house's worst kept secret yaknow." She then pointed down th Sue-sue, "The reason she's here is because her brother—"
"I don't really give a flying rats ass why she's here!" Raven shouted as she stood and quickly got in Brit's face, "I don't give a flying fuck why anyone is here! But if you think for one second, I'm gonna let you try and intimidate her, or anyone here, think again!"
For a second Raven could have sworn she saw fear in the tall darkhaired girl as her jaw hung open. It vanished quickly as Brit shook her head and glared back, this time using her height to her advantage and looked down her nose at Raven. Then through gritted teeth she hissed, "Raven Blau, I will fucking bury you."
Raven narrowed her eyes and set her jaw as she watched Brit and her friends leave the rec room, without looking over back at the high designed girl, she called back coolly, "I'd like to see you try."
Once Brit left Raven felt herself overpowered by the presence of Sue-sue hugging her. "Raven that was awesome!"
She hugged Raven tightly, hiding her face. "I don't think anyone's stood up for me like that…"
Raven felt her face heat up with embarrassment. "Y-yeah well…" She tried to think of a better reason for putting Brit in her place but couldn't think of anything better than, "You're probably the nicest person I've met in a while."
"Really?" Sue-sue asked as she looked up at Raven. Her eyes lit up and she smiled, "Does that make us friends?"
Raven shrugged her way out of Sue-sue's grip and turned her back to her. She shrugged, "I dunno. I don't really think I can be friends with someone who likes twilight."
Just as Sue-sue was about to deflate with defeat Raven looked back at her a winked at her with a smile. Sue-sue bawled with laughter as she tackled Raven with another hug, "Raven you are so mean!"
"Hey, I'm a bitch too." Raven laughed, "I'm just a better bitch than Brit."
"Aren't you a little worried that she'll get you back?" Sue-sue asked, Raven rolled her eyes as she sat back down next to Cherie.
"Please, I've been up against nightmares, psychos and the personification of chaos." She said to Sue-sue, knowing full well that she wouldn't dream of her being literal. "Some rich kid doing rehab doesn't scare me. Fuck her."
Meanwhile outside the rec room Brit was fuming as she stomped her way to her room with her roommates. She was seeing red, she was furious! This girl, this nobody, who just showed up out of nowhere was pissing her off. She let out a scream of frustration as she balled up her fists in anger. She'd destroy her! There was no way she was going to let some unknown lowlife girl ruin the good thing she had at Haven. If it was the last thing she did at Haven house, she was going to make Raven Blau's life miserable. All she needed was a little dirt on her. That's all it would take. Anything would do really. She just needed to get in contact with the right people. She looked to her two nameless friends.
"Which one of you has the number to that AV kid from Gotham High school?" She said with nearly giddy evil delight. Her friend-to-the-left held up her hand. "Call him! I want him to do some digging on this Raven Blau. I don't care what it is he find, I want it all! She's going to regret ever fucking with me!"
From Nancy to Brit. IS Raven ever gonna be rid of these class A bitchy girls? Not as long as I'm writing ha! In all honesty though Brit and Nancy are both types of people I've encountered in my life with a bit of artistic license over their actions. That's not to say people like this don't exist, because they do, it's just that I like this sort of slice-of-life villain. They're pretty easy to write and a great way for me to work out some frustration over things out of my control. Anyway, anyone come up with any theories as to why no one seems to recognize Raven? Or why Brit had a look of fear in her eyes for a split second? I'm curious to see what you guys come up with. See you next chapter!
