Sympathy for the Devil

Disclaimer: Don't own PJO

Luckily for Perseus finding Zoe wasn't hard, the Grecian creatures always talked. Though unlike most the wood nymph he asked wasn't scared of him but attracted which was a first for him. Usually his dark aura would scare off those types of creatures. Guess the world really has changed over the years.

Anyways the dark headed man was able to actually get ahead of the huntress by using his abilities of the dark arts. She was heading towards Washington D.C. So he took a stop at the National Mall. When he made it there he noticed in the distance a black Pegasus fly away from the Washington Monument.

"How odd." He said allowed when he noticed a particular aura he hasn't felt in a long time. "Why must these false gods have so many children." That is when he took notice of two tourists making odd faces to the man. "Sorry." He said before walking off.

He walked around the mall for about twenty minutes before he heard screaming coming from the Air and Space Smithsonian museum. He sped his pace towards it and when he got there he noticed it was all hell. There was a girl with short spiky black hair attacking a hell hound (the Greek kind) with a spear, a dark haired boy holding off two empousa with a bronze xiphos with deadly skill, there was also a satyr playing his reeds, and two girls dressed silver clothing trying to aid their comrades with deadly accuracy of an archer only the monsters kept coming. One of the girls had the aura of a death god while the other was none other than Zoe Nightshade.

The monsters were relentless and wearing the demigods down but all of a sudden all the monsters retreated which spiked Perseus interest of a bigger monster coming and hope of a good fight. Then all of a sudden there was a roar that shook all the exhibits around and the demigods.

"Di Immortals!" Zoe exclaimed. "We must leave! Now!"

"What is that?" The girl with a spear and shield asked with a worried voice.

"A beast that will rip us all apart if we do not leave now!" The senior huntress was worried but no signs of being scared. Just worried that she may not save her mistress.

"Zoe, what is it?" The younger girl in silver asked with a shaky voice.

"The Nemean Lion." The Huntress said, gaining her bearings back and nocking another arrow. "It is too late to run." Everyone turned to where she was staring and fear overcame everyone besides the older huntress and Perseus. On the other side of the room stood a lion that was bigger than any other they have witnessed. It's head stood up to level with the dark haired male with the xiphos. It's paws were larger than the average head of a human, it's claws were long and sharp, good for tearing flesh, and it's body was long with lean muscle allowing it to run and jump with ease. All it was doing was staring at it's next prey.

"I think I can take it from here." Perseus said stepping forwards and taking his jacket off allowing him to freely move his arms.

"Who the hell are you?" The xiphos carrying male asked.

"The man who is about to save your life." Perseus casually said. "Also watch out about saying hell, could unleash some nasty demons."

"Boy, is thee stupid?" This time Zoe spoke. "That beast will tear thee apart. Thee has no armour or even a weapon."

Perseus ignored Zoe's claims and instead summoned his sword to his left hip. The sheath was made out of a dark metal with golden writing that no one in the room could figure out what it said. The sword's hilt was made out of the same dark metal but had a strange design. Firstly the hilt was smaller and came towards the blade and not out to the side. The design made the occupants think of angelic wings that some of the gods possess. The handle was made of metal but had leather wrapping around it that was big enough for two hands but light enough for one if need be. The pommel of the blade was that of a dark crown with three points. When Perseus finally pulled the sword out the blade itself was a blinding silver with double sided blade with a very sharp point.

"Come on you overgrown, pussy!" Perseus roared which enraged the lion. Both old warriors charged.

The other occupants were waiting for the man to be torn in half and hopefully they can get away before they become the next target. Though when the lion and man met in the middle he was fast enough to guard from the slash of the immortal lion. Which was surprising he was fast enough to.

The lion was surprised by this and backed up some and started to just watch the man. It started to circle him caring less about the others. While this was happening Perseus knew he had the lion where he wanted it. It was planning it's next move giving Perseus the perfect opportunity to strike. The beast was not expecting this and did dodge in enough time before being striked. The lion scoffed in his head thinking that the man was a fool for actually thinking it would hurt the lion, but was startled when the lion noticed that the man's blade actually had a dark liquid gliding down the blade.

"How is that possible?" The satyr asked shocked by the man actually being able to hurt the beast.

"Thy have no idea." Zoe said. She started to look at the man and really looked with her dark calculating eyes. She noticed his hair was cut shorter on the sides with longer dark hair on top, his skin was tanned like he gets a lot of sun in healthy amounts, his eyes a calming sea green even in the heat of battle, his face was perfect no blemishes and high cheekbones and a strong jaw. His shirt was that of some band but could tell it hid the muscled body of a warrior and if Zoe remembers who this is then it is also hiding tattoos of a language long forgotten. His stance was perfect and ready for the next strike of the confused lion. He may have not gotten a good strike but the cut on the lion was showing that not even it's hide will save it.

Perseus watched the lion. He didn't have to wait long for the next strike either. He dodged the lion and striked but the beast expected it and dodged as well. Both went on like this for about a minute until Perseus was able to land a good blow to it's left flank that caused the lion to slow down. When the man went to strike again the beast was fast in slicing the man from the left side of his face down to the right side right under his right arm. The cut was deep showing bone. The perfect face was unrecognizable and parts of his skull could be seen. The muscle was seen perfectly cut. The arteries were squirting blood everywhere and the demigods immediately felt sick watching it happen knowing the man would die a painful death. But the most extraordinary thing happened, all the muscles, veins, and arteries started to repair itself. The skin tissue followed until it was like it never happened. Though his shirt was not saved.

"By the gods!" The spiky haired female exclaimed.

At that moment the lion knew it was royally screwed. After the man was all healed the calming eyes turned to furry and the lion had no time to escape. The man was faster than it and in seconds the lion's left paw was cut from it's body followed by it's enormous head. It had no time to move. As the beast laid there with a missing head and paw it slowly melted away in a bloody puddle.

"What are you?" The satyr asked with a shaky voice. The man looked up at the woodland creature and smirked with mischievous mirth in his eyes.

"An angel."

AN: Hope you enjoyed and I changed a bit of Titan's Curse and after this there will be elements of it still in but it will mostly be changed up. Let me know what y'all think

Also this will not be a Percy/Artemis story. There is so many out there. They are just friends with a long past that will be explored in future chapters.
