The stomping that came from the young Genin had the Shinobi on gate duty cringing in pity for who ever had upset her. The young Kunoichi's father had been sending ANBU to the gate every hour and at the sight of her and her team an ANBU had in a flash of black streaked over the roof tops.
"Welcome back Team 7, Sai, Juca, Seko, Angel hope the mission went well."
Nearly jumping in shock at the furious growling emitted in a snarl from the Kunoichi all the Shinobi, guards included fell into a well known mantra. "Don't curse Angel."
Angel stopped completely, turning her head to send scathing looks at all the men before baring her teeth in a grimace and clenching her fists. The effort it was taking her to not curse at them obvious.
Taking a deep breath the girl stood tall and catching sight of her Dad heading towards them, waited. She watched as her teammates stood taller and while she automatically did the same, her anger grew.
As her Dad came up to her Kaida pointed at him and began in an uncharacteristic display to scream. "This is your fault! I know you did something; this is the fifth time on a mission outside of Konoha that another Shinobi team have turned and disappeared at the sight of me! What did you do send out my picture! How the hell am I to be a Kunoichi, a Morino if I can't do my missions or fight!."
"Don't curse Angel." Ibiki frowned, his Angel's language worsening in her anger as he folded his arms and took in every part of her, looking for scratches, bruise or any sign of hurt. "You're not hurt are you?"
Kaida huffed and gave an exasperated growl through gritted teeth. "How can I be hurt when Shinobi see my face, say my name and disappear shouting that you'll kill them if they hurt me!"
Ibiki nodded in satisfaction ignoring the near visible flames of anger coming from his nine year old daughter as he began to ask Sai, Seko and Juca about the mission, nodding to an ANBU who moved to follow his daughter as she took off to the hospital. Most likely to give out to his Hellcat Ibiki believed. Tough luck there, his Hellcat had agreed with the idea to threaten the shit out of anyone who hurt their daughter.
Two weeks later Kaida sat down on the grass and watched the flames of the camp fire dance, wondering how far they would actually get this time before having to turn back when she was recognized.
"This might be of use."
Looking up at Sai-sensei and his fake smile Kaida saw the warmth in his eyes and took the offered black cloth in confusion. Instantly her furrowed brow disappeared and she smiled widely reaching up to hug her uncle.
The mask was quickly put on, admired and lived in, and after returning to Konoha with a successfully completed mission, scraps, bruises and a nearly distraught father once he found out, Kaida was never happier.
The mask becoming a part of her every day outfit, and her goal of becoming Chunnin getting nearer and nearer as the missions piled up.
