Luna Lovegood gazed through the newly-formed archway into Diagon Alley. To say that her family didn't get out much would be as much of an understatement as saying that Salazar Slytherin liked snakes, or that the Dark Lord (why do the call him that - don't they know his name is Tim? Well, it was either Tim or Tom.) had a fondness for a few illegal spells. Despite this being her first time visiting the alley, she immediately plodded towards Ollivanders', pushing through the throng of children and adults alike as much as her delicate frame would allow. The Blibbering Humdinger that found perch on her shoulder chittered contentedly, occasionally batting at a Nargle with his kitten paws. Her father sighed in resignation (though glad he had the forethought to give her a purse of Galleons) and drifted off in search of a café to pass the time inside.
Ollivanders' never really had a queue: people would go in, get a wand, and never need to come back until it broke, or got confiscated by Death Eaters after capture in the middle of a second wizarding war. Not ideal for business, she thinks. Lost in thought, the girl wandered into the shop and idly noticed the cheerful little bell that rang out in the muffled silence.
The shop was long and narrow, a common sign of extension charms. Lining the walls, from floor to ceiling, was shelf after shelf with neatly stacked wand boxes that patterned the walls in a myriad of wood. The strings of multicoloured magic danced across the room, painting the shopfront in an intricate picture of neon.
Out of a corner, Ollivander poked his head to greet the odd little girl who had just entered. Before he can even say hello, she had tilted onto her toes to slide a box from the shelf. "This one, please." she declared without even examining the wand.
Blinking, the bemused ancient wizard dashed towards the shopfront, nearly knocking over the table and, by extension, Luna. "I- are you sure? If you wish I could examine the wa-"
"Thank you for your service, Mr Garrick. This is eleven galleons, correct?" she interrupted him while fiddling for the golden coins in her purse. "Have a lovely day, because you never know if it could be your last."
And with that ominous message, Luna Lovegood skipped out into the alley, unaware of the chaos and confusion left in her wake. She didn't know of the chaos to come, or so it seems.
