Chapter 5

Disclaimer: Here we go, yo!

One Month Later

A month had passed since Matt Murdock had regained his eyesight thanks to a very grateful young daughter of a client he'd successfully represented in court. A month that had been simply wonderful for the man who'd been blind for so many years. Even if there had been some guilt in him for the fact he hadn't been doing his thing as DareDevil. Especially when news reporters commented on the whole thing and making remarks that criminals likely were breathing a little easier in Hell's Kitchen now that his horny persona was evidently gone. Fun fact, they were until the Defenders plus Spider-Man decided to patrol the area to deal with the bad guys. Making for some grumblings from the criminal underworld of Hell's Kitchen that they honestly preferred DareDevil to the others for one reason or another. Something Elektra was honestly amused by and even teased her dear Matthew over the whole thing for a bit.

While this went on and Matt quietly considered whether he would be retiring from crime fighting, young Mary Sawton was now a student of the Xavier School For Gifted Students while still living at home with her parents due to her age. Getting to learn all she could about her gift and loving every minute of it in the process. She was also amongst the many to affectionally see Henry 'Hank' McCoy as either the Cookie Monster or Sully from Monsters Inc., the second being something that greatly amused many a resident at the Xavier Institute! Claire was even brought on to check out young Mary's abilities at the Xavier Institute and to her surprise, hired on as the place was actually in need of more Medical Staff. Along with being given free room and board as all members of staff were given. Though so far Claire had yet to use it but was starting to lean towards doing so since it would save on back and forth trips.

The fact that Matt wasn't going out as DareDevil thanks to his change in status where his sight was concerned had left both Karen and Foggy rather happy. As it meant he wasn't putting his life at risk anymore. Sure, they had come to somewhat accept his dual nature but it still hadn't been the easiest thing in the world for them. And as Matt finished washing his hands in a bathroom at a Courthouse, he found himself frowning when his vision darkened for several seconds before returning to normal. Let's hope that was nothing but me imagining things. Worried the vigilante Lawyer in his mind.

For he really didn't want to think of the alternative. Time to get back to the office.

Author's Notes: I've taken longer than I've liked with this chapter and I'm sorry its not better than what it could be. But one could take this being something of a transition chapter for the next part of the story.
