Chapter 15
"Hi, sweetie," my mom replied.
I just dropped onto the floor and sat down with my legs crossed. "You're not here, you're not in this room," I muttered.
"Beau," my mom said squatting in front of me and looking me in the eyes. My green eyes met her green ones. "I'm here."
"How are you not dead?" I asked.
"General, if you would be so kind to leave my son and I alone to talk…" my mother trailed off.
"Of course, ma'am," the general said. He stood up and left his own office just because my mother asked him to.
I wondered why for a split second before I remembered a prior conversation that I had had with Agent Fowler. My mom gave the orders to Bryce and Bryce gave the orders to the agency. "Beau, if you could stand up and take a seat in a chair that would be wonderful," my mom said.
I nodded, feeling numb I stood up and walked over to a chair that was across from where my mom had sat down. She had sat down in the general's chair and held her hands so that her fingertips were touching each other and pointing up with her elbows resting on the desk. "Where have you been the past nine and a half plus years?" I asked.
"Busy," my mom replied.
"That doesn't answer my question," I said looking into her eyes.
My mom sighed and leaned back into the chair and regarded me with the "mom look" and I didn't know what to do other than sit there and endure it. "When your father was killed during the fight against the Decepticons for the AllSpark, I was promoted because I was his wife. I was sworn into secrecy by President Bush and I had to move to Washington D.C. to help the Pentagon and the President. You were told I was dead because if the Decepticons had found out that I had survived the attack, you would have been placed in danger," my mom said after a while.
"Why?" I asked. My mom frowned at me. "Why would I have been in danger? What did you and dad have that placed you on the Decepticons wanted list?"
My mom sighed and looked at me with her sad, green, eyes and replied, "You would have been in danger because we placed the AllSpark only someplace where we felt that it was secure and she watched you extremely well along with its secrets."
"At grandma Sandie's house in Denver?" I asked in shock. "You placed the AllSpark with me and grandma in Denver, Colorado!"
"Not with you, Beau, inside of you."
"Wait, what?"
"Haven't you ever wondered why you have had an extremely fast healing rate? Why the Dark Energon is bonding to you instead of killing you?" my mother asked.
"Well, yes, I've been asking myself that for a couple of days now," I said. "And how do you know that I've been juiced up with Dark Energon?"
My mom smiled before she answered, "I have my ways, Beau." She paused and then continued, "The reason that's happening to you is because the AllSpark is inside of you."
"How do I get it out and give it to the Autobots?" I asked.
"If you do that, you'd die," my mom answered sadly.
"Mom," I said and she looked me in the eyes. "I need to know, I just want to be normal again."
My mom smiled gently before answering, "You'll never be normal sweetie, you are after all Drew Schwarz's son. You work with the agency, you work with alien life forms, and you have a gift that you're only just starting to understand."
"Gift?" I asked. "What gift?"
"The AllSpark has granted you something, Beau, it seems to have granted you the spirit of a warrior and it is also granting you knowledge, isn't it?"
"How do you know about that?" I demanded. I hadn't told anyone about the new found Cybertronian knowledge that I was gaining seemingly out of no where, for I kept it to myself.
"I see it in your eyes every time I look into them," my mom answered. "It was the same with your father before he passed."
"You kept saying that the battle for the AllSpark happened and yet you're telling me that I'm the AllSpark, how did you get the Decepticons to fall for a fake?"
"We're not entirely sure how we got them to fall for the fake thing we made, but we hoped to draw out Megatron and eliminate him…It failed. He had sided with humans as well, evil ones, and a man named Silas killed your father."
My heart stopped and my breath caught in my throat. "Wh..what?"
"Yes, Silas, the leader of MECH, was at the battle. He saw your father helping out a wounded warrior and shot him and the wounded warrior without mercy and distinction. I know that you were raised by him for nine and a half years, so this must be extremely hard for you."
I closed my eyes and my grief was replaced with rage, an uncontrollable rage that I had never felt before. "Why did he take me in?" I asked.
"Grief, remorse, who knows," my mother answered.
"You still haven't answered the question on how to get the AllSpark out of me," I pointed out. "Would I be able to then give it to Optimus or what?"
"No, it would be sent back to where it came from, somewhere in the deeps of space."
"Out of reach of the Decepticons though, correct?"
"Correct."
"Then tell me, how do I get it out?"
"You need to visit Cybertron and the AllSpark will leave you since it is at home."
"Shit," I swore. "That's damned near impossible. A space bridge is out of the reach of the Autobots and only the Decepticons have it!"
"There you go, I gave you your answer," my mom said.
"Why couldn't you have told me you were alive?" I asked sadly.
"Baby, I wish I could've," my mom said with tears in her eyes. "I wish I could have."
"So, if I go to Cybertron and the AllSpark leaves me, you said I'd die," I said. "Why is that?"
My mom sighed once more and looked away before she answered that query, "We're not entirely sure, you might survive and become stronger or you might be torn to pieces by the sheer amount of pure energy being released from your body."
"That's nice," I muttered.
"Very," my mom agreed. "You should head back to the Autobot base, they might be getting worried about you."
I stood up and looked at my mom and asked, "Will we see each other again?"
"Probably."
"Good-bye, mom," I said.
"Good-bye, Beau," she replied.
I exited the room and found my way to the hangar where I had landed Fowler's helicopter. I entered it and took off. I headed back to the Autobot base and was back within the next forty-five minutes. I landed and took a deep breath before heading down the elevator.
I was surprised to see that Megatron was standing there in the base. "What the hell!" I exclaimed to myself.
It must've been just loud enough for everybot and everyone to hear me and turn around to see me standing there with a look of hatred and shock on my face. "Nice to see you, Beau," Flare said.
"Yes," Megatron said. "Nice to see you."
"What the hell is he doing here?" I demanded.
"Unicron is rising, boy," Megatron said. "Only I can lead Optimus to Unicron's very spark!"
I descended the stairs and went to stand by my guardian. "You can rot in the Pit, Megatron," I said before turning away from him and walking away.
"As I told the others, I never forget a face," Megatron said.
I turned and looked over my shoulder and said, "Good, neither do I."
I continued walking toward my fellow humans and stopped next to Jack. "So, they teamed up with Megatron to stop Unicron?" I asked.
"Yep." Jack said simply.
"That's messed up."
"Agreed," Ratchet said.
"All I can say is that I hope Megatron doesn't stab them all in the back, but knowing how he roles so far from what I've heard, he wants a planet to rule at least." I mumbled to myself.
"What was that?" Raf asked me.
"Nothing," I said. "Just talking to myself."
We humans walked to our little area and turned the TV on and I regretted that almost immediately. More than sixty volcanoes are erupting worldwide and downtown Honolulu is under six inches of snow! Scientists continue to devise theories connecting these unprecedented natural disasters with the planetary alignment which…. the TV connection was then , Miko, Raf, and I all looked at each other and exchanged anxious glances and June turned around and asked us, "So, who all wants to play a game?"
Miko crossed her arms and looked away, Raf raised an eyebrow, and Jack looked slightly embarrassed. Me, I felt helpless and angry that I couldn't do anything to help out. Soon, Fowler came storming by and said, "That tears it!"
"Where are you going?" June asked.
"I can't just sit on my hands while the world spins out of control!" Fowler replied.
"And what exactly is it that you intend to do?" Ratchet asked.
"Anything!" Fowler said exasperated, "Hook up with my boys at the Pentagon and find a way to bury that monster for good!"
"In the event that Optimus can't?" Ratchet asked.
"Don't you mean Optimus and Megatron?" Fowler countered.
I was watching this with an interested gaze, but at the same time, I was wondering how to find Silas and kill him to avenge my father's death.
"No one here is thrilled about this arrangement, Agent Fowler, myself included," Ratchet said. "But with Optimus and Megatron together again…"
"Whoa, whoa, whoa," Jack interrupted, "Again?"
"Megatron was an Autobot?" Raf asked.
"Optimus was a Con?" Miko asked after Raf.
"No, wrong on either count," Ratchet said. "But there was a time, back on Cybertron, during the twilight hours of the Golden Age when Optimus and Megatron were not sworn enemies." This caught my full attention from my vendetta planning as I now looked up from the floor and at Autobot CMO. "Do you recall when I said that Optimus wasn't always a Prime? Well, he wasn't always Optimus either. He was once a clerk in the Iacon hall of records, named Orion Pax. But as he learned more about Cybertron's past, he grew increasingly concerned about the corruption in high places, an inequality among the masses. Orion became inspired by the words and ideas of a gladiator, one who had named himself after one of the thirteen original Primes, Megatronus. Megatronus vowed to change Cybertron's leadership and demand that all Cybertronians be treated as equals. This leader turned revolutionary…" I totally zoned out at this point and just looked at the floor. I looked up eventually and slipped away from the group to go to the Autobots' training room. I thought about transforming my hand into a sword and it did, apparently due to the Dark Energon coursing through my AllSpark bonded cells. I sighed and thought about getting the prosthetic hand to return to the hand stage and it did. I really needed to get the AllSpark energy out of me, yet I didn't know how. If I did, my mother said the energy leaving my body would be so spontaneous that it'd kill me. It was a chance that I was willing to take though if it mean furthering the Autobot cause against Megatron and the Decepticons. I wondered if Optimus knew that the AllSpark was contained within me and decided that he probably did not know. I sat down and closed my eyes and sat cross legged on the floor. I needed a calm mind and the only way I knew how to obtain one was to slow my breathing down and concentrate on nothing.
I heard a disturbance in the main hallway roughly an hour later and my eyes snapped open. I sighed and stood up, groaning as my now stiff limbs groaned in protest at their now sudden movements. I walked to the main chamber and saw that the Autobots had returned, but they were missing an important someone… Optimus Prime.
"Optimus is he…" Ratchet trailed off.
"Dead?" Arcee finished. "No."
"But he looked right at us without recognizing us," Bulkhead put in. "Didn't even know his own name."
"When Optimus surrendered the Matrix of Leadership he lost more than the collective wisdom of the Primes," Ratchet said. "He lost his own memories."
"Meaning that he believes he's once again Orion Pax and fighting alongside Megatron do fix Cybertron's corruption," I said running my prosthetic through my hair. "This can mean that Megatron will either utilize Optimus' memory loss for his own personal gain and then eliminate him after his usefulness has run its course, or he'll just eliminate him."
"Knowing Megatron, it'll be the first option," Flare said.
I looked up at my guardian and nodded. "Either way, it doesn't look good for humanity with Optimus Prime gone."
