I don't understand why, but I suddenly feel a strange pull toward him.
Almost as if Jacob was the reason my feet stayed fixed on the ground.
No, this can't be happening. It just can't be. Jacob couldn't be the one.
But he was.
I had imprinted on Jacob, and he had no idea.
Of course he didn't. He spent all of his time with Renesmee, now.
I don't understand how this could be happening.
The peculiar thing was that I felt...relieved. For so long, I had thought I would never imprint on someone.
But now that I finally had, I wanted to kill myself. My anger bubbles to the surface.
I could feel the never-ending cycle of my transformation clawing its way to the surface.
The heat dances along my skin. I turn away from Jacob quickly and rush into the trees, hiding my shocked face.
My clothes shred to pieces as I launch myself through the air. My paws slam against the ground and I fly forward.
I hardly noticed the faint, dark blur of the trees around me. My mind was racing, skimming through all the possibilities.
Leah! What happened!? How could you have imprinted on Jake!? Seth's voice rings in the back of my head.
Shut up, Seth. I don't want to talk to you. I growl in response.
Seth's annoying questions keep flowing through my mind, until we hear another presence inside our heads.
Seth, leave her alone. Go back to the Cullens' place. Jacob commanded, a faint sense of his inner Alpha breaking through.
I saw through Seth's eyes as he turned his back hesitantly on me.
Jacob, I don't...how...why...please. My carefully planned sentence vanishes from my mind.
Come back when you can, Leah. The words are distant, trailing off into a blank, empty silence.
I wasn't going to stop, not until I could figure out what I needed to do.
There was no point coming back. Jacob and Renesmee were meant to be. Once again, I was forgotten.
I forced my legs to move faster, until they screamed with effort, and Leah Clearwater disappeared behind me.
