A/N: Hey been about a month or so since my last update/chapter. Hopefully I can get two out in the next week.
Also, I'm going to change this fanfiction up and change a few chapters like the prologue and make it longer (should of done that since the beginning). Also am getting rid of the first chapter/update with the tribute submission forms to let everyone see the prologue. So, expect that in the next couple of weeks
Anyway, this chapter will be district 11 and the next chapter should be district 12. Let's get started.
Chapter 6: District 11 reaping's.
Rose Kane (district 11 female) POV:
"Hey Rose, wake up you got to get ready for the reaping's and meet Wren." My mother shouts up as she normally does during this period of the year.
"Ok. One minute." I get up and remember why I hate this day most of them all. Reaping day. A day where 24 children are picked or they volunteer to die and then 23 of them do. Or even more due to the second quarter quell, the fifth quarter quell and today and forever more as district 13 will be added to the games forever more.
I put on my reaping outfit which is a blue dress with black shoes and socks which are old and worn. I also put on a friendship bracelet me and my best friend Wren made when we meet and decided right then and there that we will be there for each other.
I go downstairs and see my mum and the breakfast she made with the little money we have. It's not much but it's something and I'm grateful for it. Breakfast is just some waffles but my mum makes them the best way and it just helps me with my nerves for today and gives me hope that I won't be reaped.
"Hey honey, … good luck with the reaping's today." My mum says while she hugs me and it also helps my nerves and basically reduces them to ashes. Hopefully, I can do the same thing to Wren who I know will be a nervous wreck.
"Thanks mum." I sorrowfully say while I hug back while trying to hold back the tears. We did this last year and we both know I could get picked with the low chance and have to go into the hunger games which is way we both live life to the fullest.
"I'm going to go and meet Wren now." I say while wiping the tears from my eyes and leaving the house. I go to my and Wrens normal meet up at the place in district 11 and I see Wren pacing restlessly back and forth filled with nerves.
As soon as he sees me, he runs at me at a speed I only saw once in my life time. Which was last year's reaping's.
"Hey, you will be fine our names are only in there twice." I lie easily to him. The reason I lie is because I took out two treasuries in my name for his family to survive and once for me and my mother cause our families wouldn't have survived and I never told anyone this. So, my name is in there 4 times.
"I know but, what if the odds are not in our favour and one of us is chosen." He exclaims while crying.
"Then the other will take care of both of our families to the best of our abilities. Also, you won't be picked because you will live a long peaceful life with Clay." As soon as I say Clay's name his tears are gone and a blush is forming on his cheek thinking about the life he imagined where he married Clay and I'm the bridesmaid officially.
He is calmed down and I hug him again to quell his fear just a little more if it is still there.
"Come on let's go to the reaping's." I say and we start to walk together.
"Who do you think will be reaped?" Wren askes. We both ask this question before the reaping's every year. We just never spoke these thoughts until now.
"Sadly, probably some 12-15 year old girl and a 16-18 year old boy as it is every year." I say sorrowfully we both put our heads down and continue in silence until we reach the justice building and sign in.
We hug closely and just before he can go to the 13 year old boy section I wisher.
"Good luck and may the odds be ever in your favour." It never fails to bring out a laugh from him and of course he laughs and hugs me once more until he goes to the 13 year old section for the boys. I also go to the 13 year old section for the girls.
As we wait, I see Wren stand next to Clay and talk to him and hopefully Wren will say his feelings for him.
I'm suddenly interrupted by our new escort who looks at us and our stage as if she is disgusted as all escorts are.
"Hello district 11, I'm Daphne your new escort. I was hoping for a cleaner stage than district 12 but this is even more messy." The new escorts, Daphne says into the mic and of course she has the capitol accent as all escorts have.
"Now let's show you a video from the capitol itself." We all look at the screen and is shown the same videos as is shown every year and a message from President Nightshadow which is shown every year as well.
"Let's pick our female tribute from district 11." Daphne walks over to the female bowl and picks out a name at random.
"The female tribute for district 11 is... Rose Kane" I stand there shocked and it feels like my feet has a mind of their own and I start to walk towards the stage before my brain can realize what is happening.
I reach the stage and stand next to Daphne and she looks at me with even more disgusted than when we looked at our stage.
"Let's put our hands together for the female tribute for district 11." No one claps expect for the peace keepers and Daphne.
She stops suddenly and goes to the male bowl and picks out a name. She then comes back and opens the slip and says the name.
Parker Barksworth. One of the dove children.
"I volunteer as tribute!" I hear someone next to Wren shout.
I see a skinny short boy with messy ginger hair and he walks up to the stage. I see him wearing a bright red rain jacket, torn denim jeans, yellow rain boots and a worn messenger bag.
He gets onto the stage and I see all the dove children especially have a shocked face. He stands on the other side of Daphne and Daphne leans into me and then she realizes what she has done and jumps back.
"Hi, I'm Felix and I going to win the games." This boy that I now know as Felix says into the microphone. Everyone claps and then we shake our hands and are shoved towards the justice building.
As soon as I reach the room the door opens behind me and I see my mum. We hug and cry for a minute.
She wipes the tears from my eyes and pulls me down to sit on the sofa.
"You can win the games and make it out of there. All you got to do is survive until the top 2 and make sure there is a weaker tribute than you in the bottom two and kill them." My mother says. I stare into space... I don't think I can kill a tribute strong or weak.
"I'll try mum" We hug for the last minute and then she is ripped from my arms and she is shoved out of the door.
Right after that I see Wren enter with something in his hand.
"Will you take something into the arena with you?" Wren askes with fear in his voice. I look at the item and see that it is his bracelet.
"Sure, think you can combine mine with yours?" I ask and he does.
"Can you do something for me if I die?" I need him to do this if I not around he deserves to have a happy life and live in happiness. He nods so I ask.
"If I die can you tell Clay about your feelings and live a happy life with him? Also, when my body returns ask if you can take the bracelet off and wear it for the rest of your life?" I see him look at me with sorrow and tears.
He nods and I charge him with a hug until he is ripped from my hands as well.
"Good luck, I know you can win!" Wren shouts until he is out of the room. I'm now alone until the train rides.
Felix Achisoto (district 11 male) POV:
I wake up on reaping day as if nothing is wrong. The games are scary I'm definitely scared that I or someone I know will be chosen but it's a slim chance and no one will be.
I stand up outside Peaches grave. The person who has been kind to me even since I lived on the streets who died recently of an illness he didn't want treated. After Peaches a woman called Dove and her family have been helping me and others who need it.
"Hey Felix." I see Karma running towards me and behind her is Raven and their sister Wren. All three of them were abused as children by their parents. It was only after Raven accidently killed their father did, he leave, but the damage had been done all ready.
Wren became a mute and never speak a word again and will only communicate via her journal. Raven became more withdraw and dark only talking once in a while and being quiet. While, Karma noticed the changes in Raven and wants to help her siblings. I always feel so sorry for them and try to help them whenever I can.
"Want to start to walk towards the justice building." Karma askes less cheerful as she normally is due to the day.
I nod and start to walk towards the justice building. We have a normal conversation with Raven slipping in now and then being his normal quiet self until we reach the justice building and Wren writing in her journal.
We sign in and say good luck to each other and go to our respective age categories and I see the Dove children as well in their age groups, with Raven next to Peter and Matt, Angelina and Lily standing next to their mum, Dove.
I stand next to two boys talking next to each other and see a girl look other at the boy who I'm next to.
Our escort who is new comes on stage.

I looked shocked for a second and then I realized that the girl that was looking over at the boy who I'm next to is walking towards the stage. Daphne still has a look of disgust on her face.
"Let's put our hands together for the female tribute for district 11." No one claps expect for the peace keepers and Daphne.
She stops suddenly and goes to the male bowl and picks out a name. She then comes back and opens the slip and says the name.
Parker Barksworth. One of the dove children, and most importantly one of my friends.
"I volunteer as tribute!" I shout and start to walk towards the stage. Maybe the games won't be that bad. Maybe I can win. Hopefully Peter can take care of Raven, the twins and his family.
I see the escorts reaction to me and how I look and start to chuckle a little. I see Raven put his face into his hands and stops Krama from trying to run on stage and Wren is hugging onto Raven for dear life.
I see Holly hugging into Matt crying. I also see Angelica hug Matt, Lily and Holly close to her.
I finally see Dove trying to run up to the stage but is held back by peace keepers.
"Hi, I'm Felix and I going to win the games." I say into the microphone. Everyone claps and then we shake our hands and are shoved towards the justice building.
As soon as I reach the room the door opens behind me and I see Dove come in on her own. She's wipes the tears and knees down so we can hug.
"Come back please Felix." Dove cries into my shoulder and I wipe her tears and tell her I will try my best. We hug until the peacekeepers take her away.
Then Parker walks in. He thanks me for volunteering for him but tells me that I will have to kill someone in the games to survive.
As soon as Parker leave Angelica, Lily and Matt come in. Matt comes in, hugs me while crying and thanks me for volunteering for Parker and that he will never be able to repay me. I manage to get him off to allow Angelica and Lily to say good bye. Lily gives me a paper cutout of a pink heart which has happy birthday on it.
"Sorry I couldn't give it to you yesterday." Lily says and hugs me and I hug back. Then Angelica comes forward.
"Don't go into the bloodbath. The careers will kill you before you can get a bag and get out of there. If you can get strong allies who can protect you. Then survive and if you have to kill." Angelica says.
What is with it with people saying that I will have to kill people to win. I should be able to survive without killing.
We all hug one last time until they leave and Wren, Raven and Karma walks in. Karma wipes the tears from her eyes and comes to hug me.
"You will come back right?" Karma askes and I reassure her that I'm going to come back. Karma then stands back to allow Wren to step forwards.
She hugs me and writes in her journal 'Good luck. I really hope you do come back. I don't know what Karma, Raven, and I would do without you. I don't think Raven can take another death right now'. I nod and hug Wren again and allow her to take Karma to wait outside for their brother to say goodbye to me.
"You know you will have to kill and care for yourself in the games." Raven says coming closer towards me.
"I will be fine; I will get sponsors in the games and they will help me survive." I fire back. Rave now is face to face with me.
"No one cares about people like us Felix. We're just kids that were unwanted and wasting away on the streets. when Peaches was dying on the streets and you called for help. Remember, nobody came. When you call for help in games don't expect anyone to come" Raven shouts at me. He suddenly realizes what he did and apologies for not being their when Peaches died and leaves without saying another word.
I put the notes from Lily and Wren into my messenger bag and wait alone until the train ride.
