Requested by crystal-nyx: I have a Free! request but can't decide between Makoto or Sousuke (or both) so I'll let you pick. Kagome jumped out to save a child from a car and the guy saw what happened. waht happens to Kagome and how does he respond? My mind played this out so many different ways so now I'm curious to how you would choose to write it.

Anime: Free! x Inuyasha

Pairing: Makoto Tachibana x Kagome Higurashi

Adjusting the strap to his sports bag over his shoulder, the back stroke swimmer blinked as he noticed a middle-aged mother reaching for her child. Green eyes glided towards the running child chasing after his ball as it rolled to the middle of the street.

"Hitori!"

Makoto's eyes widened as he saw a car approaching the small child. Dropping his bag on the floor, he took a step forward only to hear the mother scream pure horror. Makoto came to a halt as he saw a female body roll towards the sidewalk as the small child was wrapped by her body.

"Hitori?! Hitori!?"

Running towards the mother and the two on the ground, Makoto blinked as he looked down to see a black haired woman having shielded the boy's body with her own.

The mother gasped in relief as she saw her child's eyes open before tears of joy rolled down their faces. "A-Arigatou!" The mother exclaimed, watching the young female teen sit up as she rubbed the back of her neck. "Thank you for saving my son."

"No problem." The blue eyed female smiled, "I am just glad he is safe and sound." Makoto watched as the girl ruffled the boy's hair as she sent him a smile. "Never let go of your okaa-san's hand, okay? Always look both ways before crossing the street, too."

"H-Hai!"

Watching the mother and son continue with their joyous miracle, Kagome sighed before she winced at the stingy pain on her knees and calves. The miko looked down and sighed once more at the sight of the small cuts oozing out blood as bruises began to spread over her pale skin. "Well, looks like I will have to wear pants for a while."

"Are you alright?"

Kagome's inner thought were broken as she heard the voice behind her. Looking over her shoulder, the miko blinked as she saw the broad shoulder male giving her a concerned look. "Uh…I-I'm fine," she nodded.

The swimmer remained silent, not knowing if it was right to meddle into her well-being. He blinked as she tried standing back on her feet. Noticing her knees shake from the wounds, he quickly caught her by her shoulders - much to her surprise.

"Ah, gomen…". Kagome chuckled nervously. "Really, I'm fine."

Makoto's eyebrows furrowed with worry as he took a look at the miko's legs. Giving her a smile, he gently picked her up bridal style.

"O-Oi!" The miko exclaimed as a blush spread over her cheeks. "I-I'm fine!"

"I will take you to a clinic to make sure you are okay," Makoto smiled as he walked over to his bag and picked if up effortlessly. "It is the least I can do when someone as brave as you risked their life for that child."

"A-Ah…".

He knew the girl had probably felt frightened herself when she threw herself for the kid's safety. "G-Gomen," he chuckled, "my name is Tachibana Makoto."

"H-Higurashi…Kagome." She nodded, unsure why he was acting so friendly to her at the first meeting. But the minute she sensed his aura, she could tell this man was nothing but kind and pure-hearted.
