AN: I've been rereading the X-wing series and this little scene popped into my head as I was reading. I hope you enjoy it. (Only makes sense if you have read the book and remember what happens in it).
"Koyi!"
"What?!" she practically snarled, the hurt still raw from the message she had gotten from her commanding officer earlier, as she lowered her datapad and turned around to face him. "What," she repeated, somewhat startled at the intensity of his expression when she faced him.
Wedge Antilles stopped only a meter from her. "I want you to know that I'm going to prove not just yours, but also Tal'dira's and Nuro Tualin's innocence and loyalty to the New Republic and the Provinsional Council," Wedge said, looking her straight in the eyes.
Koyi stared back at him. She had been with the Rogues for so long, had come back to them, because of the respect they had always shown her, and she truly wanted to believe him. She looked into his eyes and saw the intensity, the will, there. His stance was determined and sure.
"Just hang on, Koyi. I'll make sure you are back at active duty again soon. You and everyone else."
"I believe you," she whispered. "Please fix this."
"I will," Wedge said. He reached out and gave her arm a friendly and encouraging pat, before he turned around to walk out of her quarters again with purposeful strides. He called back over his shoulder at her. "We'll take out Zsinj and fix this. I promise." Then he turned the corner and was gone, but Koyi felt a glimmer of hope spark inside her. Commander Antilles had never let her down before. He wouldn't let her down now. She was certain of it.
