[X] Sneaking around in One's quarters, with the aid of Miss Rose and Miss Neopolitan, for hints towards the secrets of silver eyes.

"Hey, Rubes?" Yang asked, yawning a bit as she finished her breakfast. "Did you have anything planned for today?"

"Not yet." Ruby replied. "Me and Penny were going to start working on another weapon design. Though, apparently we needed to go up to the main Schnee manor, not this guest one, to get a few parts first?"

Ah, right. Yang had nearly forgotten how she was technically staying in a guest manor for the Schnee. Mostly because the place was freaking big enough that she was surprised she hadn't gotten lost in it yet. Most people would just consider opening a few rooms if they had some important guests coming over, and yet the Schnee were rich enough to afford a place so big that Yang could probably just claim a room and stay forever without anyone noticing.

"Mind giving me a hand with something?" Yang asked. "I was heading up to the main place later anyway, wanted to look for something."

"...Look for what?" Ruby asked.

Yang looked around, making sure nobody was eavesdropping on the two of them.

"Don't tell anyone." Yang replied, in a quieter voice. "But I wanted to poke around One's belongings, find something out."

Ruby looked like she was going to talk, then stopped herself, noting the need to whisper.

"Why?" She asked. "If you're not supposed to-"

"Don't be mad." Yang winced in advance. "But I was trying to look around a bit into why Five... Well, you know."

Ruby's eyes widened, as she got the implication.

"Yang, it's okay-" Ruby began, but stopped when Yang shook her head.

"It doesn't matter now, I know." Yang replied. "But I want to know. As far as I can tell, it has something to do with the colour of your eyes, but I asked One and Qrow and neither of them were giving me answers."

"...Qrow didn't have answers?" Ruby asked.

"Apparently, his boss should have known." Yang clarified. "And since he's our uncle, he should know. So I asked, and Qrow just fakes suddenly feeling really drunk to get out of it. There's some sort of secret going on here, Ruby, and I want to find out what."

"Hold on a moment." Ruby said, at a normal talking volume, as she finished her breakfast, before grabbing both her bowls and Yang's. She ran off for a bit, and came back a moment later.

"Let's go." Yang said, as she stood up. "We can talk as we walk."

Ruby nodded, as Yang made sure her chair was properly under the table, and the two headed for the exit.

"You asked One and Qrow?" Ruby asked, to clarify. "That would have had to be before they left, right?"

"Yeah." Yang nodded. "I kinda stopped for a bit after that. Was getting too frustrated. Didn't want to do something dumb because I wasn't thinking things through again."

Ruby stepped forward and turned, standing in front of Yang and looking at her face for a moment. Yang tried her best to look unconcerned, but wondered if Ruby was suspicious of that.

Well, of course Ruby was. Yang had more than proven that she didn't know how to stop. Hell, she was lying right now. She hadn't told Ruby that she tired to beat the answers out of Five yet, after all.

After a moment, Ruby sighed, and turned around. "...I'm glad you know when to take a break, Yang."

Oh, good. She hadn't noticed. Yang stopped herself from sighing in relief, as she walked on, and tried not to give any clues that she was still hiding something.

"I thought you'd want to know." Yang continued. "Since they're your eyes, after all. And if I mess up again, you'd be able to slap some sense into me if you know why."

"I don't think we should go around looking in someones belongings." Ruby admitted. "It feels weird, to do stuff like that. And rude. Kinda like stealing a cookie without telling anyone, when it's not part of a dumb little in joke."

"Shh." Yang replied. "We can't acknowledge that the whole cookie thing is anything but the most serious of things, or someone might overhear and understand. What's the point in it if someone watching from the outside isn't completely confused?"

Ruby nodded, as she put a finger to her lips.

"...So, what's the plan?" Ruby asked. "If you're going to sneak into One's room, I don't think it'll be easy."

"You're in, then?" Yang questioned.

"Sure." Ruby nodded. "I can be helpful!"

"I know." Yang replied, with a smile. "Thanks, Rubes."

"But you have a plan, right?" Ruby asked. "Please don't say the plan is causing a distraction, the last time we tried that with the cookie thing you ended up setting dad on fire."

"Accidentally." Yang added.

"You keep saying that but then you wink so I don't think I should believe you."

Yang grinned.

"But don't worry, there's a plan." Yang nodded. "I just need to go find Torchwick and Neo real fast. I think I have a sufficiently big bribe."

"Trying to get Neo's Semblanceo n your side?" Ruby asked.

"Yeah." Yang replied, reaching into her jacket. "And I've got just the thing for it, too. Went down to the store yesterday, bought some ice cream and kept it cool with my Aura. Everyone loves a Golden Ga-"

There was a shattering in the world in front of Yang, and suddenly Neo was on them, ripping the ice cream out of Yang's hand and shoving it into her mouth. Ruby visibly flinched at Neo's appearance, but quickly calmed herself.

Yang frowned as she noticed Ruby's reaction, but quickly decided to distract everyone with a joke before Ruby could realise she'd noticed.

"Are you just stalking me now?" Yang asked. "I mean, I'm flattered, Neo, but I'd rather know who was admiring my looks, so please don't hid-"

Neo turned around and started walking away, already eating at the ice cream, and Yang reached out to grab her.

"Hey, don't be like that." She replied. "There's more ice cream in it for you if you do me a favou-"

Neo raised her other hand, showing off the three other wrapped ice blocks, and Yang blinked.

Neo was grinning as she turned back around, putting the three back in Yang's jacket with delicate enough precision that Yang didn't even feel Neo touching anything.

"...Note to self." Yang mused. "Don't leave my scroll unlocked around midgets."

Neo took a moment to very pointedly look at the ice cream, as she bit off the top some more and made some sort of gesture with her hand, bringing her thumb close to the next finger along.

Seeing a lack of understanding, Neo sighed silently, and handed her ice cream to Yang for a moment while she started gesturing with her hands.

She held one finger in the air, then raised the other hand to hold up her middle finger, thumb and pinkie. The three fingers were moved around the One, in a slow manner, slightly below the one, before popping up behind it.

"You overheard the discussion about One?" Yang asked.

Neo nodded.

"Good." Yang noted. "Don't need to explain it again."

Neo took her ice cream back, looking at it suspiciously to make sure Yang hadn't taken a bite out of it while Neo hadn't been touching it, then nodded contently.

"Well, let's go then." Yang decided. "Don't want to waste any time."

Neo looked around to make sure there wasn't anyone approaching, as Yang slid open the door. Getting to One's study had been surprisingly easy, but-

The door refused to budge.

...Damn it, steel door, electronically locked. Probably needed some form of ID to get in while nobody was inside.

"I don't suppose anyone saw if this room has a window?" Yang asked.

Neo pushed her aside, and quickly frisked the wall around the steel door. Before long, she knocked against the wall and found something hollow.

Yang looked at it for a moment, confused, until Neo slid aside a hidden panel and revealed some sort or hidden safe-front.

"What's that?" Ruby asked. "Some sort of failsafe?"

Neo pointed up at the light above Ruby's head, then flicked a switch near the wall, turning it off. Then, she gestured to the lock of the door.

"They need to be able to open the door if power is cut." Yang mused. "So there's a manual unlocking device here? How does it work?"

"I think I read up on it once." Ruby mused ."It's... Well, it's set to not work most of the time, but only because the electricity gong through it keeps it shut off. Unless the power goes out or you have a key to override it, the safe lock thing does nothing."

Neo pulled a key out from her pocket, and Ruby frowned.

"Do you just have keys to everything in there?" The red girl asked. Neo didn't look back, instead giving a thumbs up as she put the key in the safe lock. Following that, she put her ear to the wall, and started rotating the safe lock.

Time passed, as Neo looked more and more frustrated.

"Performance issues?" Yang asked. "I understand, Neo, it happens to everyone, just can't get it-"

The door opened, and Neo looked smug as she walked inside.

"It would've been funnier if I got to finish the joke." Yang grumbled.

Ruby patted her on the back. "There there. It's okay. You'll be able to finish other jokes later."

"It's just not the same..." Yang sighed, as she stepped inside.

One's office was a rather tidy place, with a desk in the middle with a computer screen on it. It was a small one, too, with a few books stacked on shelves to the side, a filing cabinet on the opposite side of the room, her desk, and that was basically it. This wasn't a room for talking to people, Yang mused.

"Does anyone know One's password?" Yang asked.

Neo shrugged, but stepped towards the laptop anyway. She pulled a magnifying glass out of her pocket, and started looking over the screen and keyboard, looking for something.

Yang wasn't going to pretend she knew how the thief saw things, but decided to move on.

"Ruby, do you want to look at the books or the files?" Yang asked.

"...I'd rather the books?" Ruby asked. "I mean, if I look at the files, I'd probably get them all mixed up or something and then One would know someone was looking through them. Neo was using her Semblance to make everything look normal even on camera, but that doesn't mean anything if One looks at her files and they aren't in alphabetical order."

"Alright." Yang nodded, walking towards the filing cabinets. "Let me know if you find anything."

Ruby nodded, as she walked over to the bookshelf and started looking at the titles. Yang, in turn, looked at the filing cabinets.

Her first instinct was to look in the section labelled S, to see if there was anything recorded under Silver Eyes.

...Nope, nothing. Something about silver armour, but nothing about eyes.

That was a good follow-up then. Look under E, see if there was anything about eyes that would move on to silver. And failing that...

Yang took a moment to muse about what else it could be filed under.

One had mentioned something about Ruby's records being incomplete, so she had investigated Ruby a bit to try and find out about the silver eyes. Maybe there'd be something under R, then? Or maybe there'd be a People of Interest section that Yang could look into, and Ruby would be under there.

Actually, Yang should look for that if it's not under E regardless, because even if One didn't have any information on Ruby, she had to have been looking around for other people with silver eyes. It wasn't an exclusive eye colour, even if it did seem like only Ruby's eyes were special. So if One had found anything interesting with other people with silver eyes, they'd have been recorded there, right?

Yang was fairly sure that she was missing something obvious to look under, but couldn't decide on what it was.

...There was the possibility, Yang mused, that it could be listed under a file prepared for Five? But that would be right next to E for Eyes anyway, so Yang should still look in about that area first.

Closing the current set of draws and opening another one, Yang started looking through file names, handling everything cautiously to prevent any clue of her presence being left behind.

It would take a while before the three girls were able to find anything at all, and it wouldn't be too long before the returning party from Miss One's crusade were in the mansion. At that point, Yang wouldn't be able to search any longer, and she would...

[X] Stay in the mansion and talk with the people who had gone with the Intoners.
[X] Leave this mansion to go to the one with the orphans, to see Two and talk with her.
