"Finally, I got the high score!" Numbuh 2 exclaimed, "Isn't that awesome?"
The person he was asking was Numbuh 5, who had been sitting next to him reading one of her magazines.
He turned his head when she didn't answer, "Numbuh 5? Oh."
No wonder her head felt so heavy on his shoulder.
It had gotten pretty late into the night, so it didn't surprise him that she'd fallen asleep. What surprised him was how close they were together. She actually looked, and sounded, kind of cute.
Numbuh 2 could feel his cheeks turn pink. He smiled a bit.
Maybe I'll stay out here a bit longer.
Carefully, Numbuh 2 set the game console on the arm of the couch. He scooted a little closer to her and rested his head against hers, absentmindedly kissing her head. He then gently wrapped his arm around her and set his hand down atop hers. He smiled again as he fell asleep too.
"Ew! That's disgusting-"
"Sh!" Numbuh 1 hissed, "Don't wake them up, Numbuh 4."
"Look at them!" Numbuh 3 cried, "All snuggled up and adorable together-"
"Sh!"
"Oops. Sorry, Numbuh 1."
"Look at them all kissy-faced. It's absolutely ridiculous."
"Look, let's not disturb them, okay? They're both asleep, and we should be too. Um, Numbuh 3, what are you doing?"
"I wanna take a picture of this."
"Get back here."
"Oh okay."
Numbuh 3 sulked back to her room, disappointed. Numbuh 4 stormed back into his room, disgusted.
Numbuh 1 took one more glance at the two of them and smiled, "Pleasent dreams, you two lovebirds."
