Hi. Umm, I'm not quite sure what to put here.
Let's just say I was thinking about a lot of emotional stuff, and this idea came up.
Please don't hate me.

The five of them continued to dig hopelessly through the rubble, hoping that she was still alive.

They'd arrived just as the building caved in.

Hoagie fell to his knees in despair, suddenly fearing that the search would be for nothing.

"Where are you, Abby?"

The young man lifted a shaking hand, catching it in his other hand. His eyes began filling with tears as he stared at the ring on his finger.

A loud gasp came from behind.

Then a quiet, "No."

Hoagie spin around sharply and jumped to his feet.

Had they found her?

"Guys?"

Kuki was frantically digging through the pile the other four had crowded around, and she was starting to cry.

Nigel turned to his friend, "Th-this was... all we could find."

When Hoagie saw what Nigel was holding, it felt as though someone had stabbed him.

He thought his heart was going to rip itself up.

He took the worm red cap in his trembling hands and took a gulp of air.

Then the floodgates opened.

He collapsed to his knees again and began sobbing and wailing loudly in agony, clutching the cap in his hands and pinning it to his chest.

Everything around him felt far away, he felt surrounded by darkness.

This couldn't be real.

...

Hoagie's eyes popped open and the first thing he realized was that he was sweating and his heart was racing.

He sat up and took a few deep breaths, looking around the dark room.

It was only a dream.

He then glanced down and smiled with relief at the figure next to him.

Abby was sleeping soundly, still very much alive and well. Both were in the safety of their bedroom.

I hope I don't lose you like that for real.

Hoagie leaned down and gently kissed his wife's forehead, then lied back down and scooted a little closer to her.

He went back to sleep, glad that she was still by his side.

I'm really sorry for scaring you like that.
Don't worry, I wouldn't really kill off any of our heroes.
Please no flames
