Chapter 06:

The Flames Of Hell

The elevator began to slowly descend to what would be the final floor. This was it, the final showdown to determine the fate of the Umbrella Corporation. Everything hinged on this one child, saving her was the key to putting an end to the viruses.

"Well," Claire pulled out a hair tie tying her hair back into ponytail. "This is it, Leon." She took a deep breath. Moira was safe, now all that was left for her to do is save Natalia. She was willing to do whatever it took to do that. "Listen, ugh, you know as well I do that Alex isn't going to-,"

"Don't finish that," Leon knew where Claire was going with this. She feared that something would happen to her. Alex had unfinished business with Claire and would stop at nothing to settle the score. "We're going to make it, Claire." He put his hand on her shoulder. "Both of us, understand?" Claire nodded.

Loud moans and scrapes were heard outside the doors as the elevator went further down. They had to be at least hundreds of them down here. Which could only mean that Alex was holding back, saving her best pieces for last.

"You know something," Claire laughed. "They really did pick the best team to save Natalia. This whole mission," She smiled. "It's like what we did for Sherry back in Raccoon City. We just need to do it one more time and this could all end." The elevator stopped on the final floor. "Well, Leon, this is our floor."

Claire was stocked with the M39R Handgun with enough ammo for a few reloads. Her knife was sheathed at her side. She also had something else. The Capsule Shooter that was given to her by Ada. There was only one shot in the barrel. She had no idea what was in it or if she trusted Ada enough to actually use it.

Leon was equipped with a single Punisher Handgun. He had enough ammo for only a few reloads. He had his knife at his side which could protect him if he ran out of bullets but for how long? No, this was enough, he'd make it. He wasn't going to let the lack of firepower stop him from capturing Alex. This wouldn't be like the last time they cornered her.

The door to the elevator began to open, sparks emerging as it did. The doors suddenly stopped unable to fully open. They were going to have to force it open. Claire went to touch the door but it was so hot it burned her hand. "Ah," She waved off the pain. "We're going to need to think of another way." Except, there was no other way. "Together on three?"

"Do we have a choice?" Leon asked.

"Not really," Claire informed him. "One," Claire took a deep breath. "Two," This was going to hurt. "Three," Together Leon and Claire forced the door open burning their hands in the process. "Okay," Claire breathed through the pain. "It's open." She pulled out her handgun followed by Leon.

The entire floor was out of power, shrouded in darkness. Neither of them carried any source of light. They could hear loud cries from the undead and loud banging on the walls around them. It was going to be hard to search this place in the dark. Sweat started to pour from Leon's forehead.

"Who left the heater on," Claire wiped the sweat from her brow. The heat was so intense, it was like being trapped inside an oven. She noticed a small blue light in the distance and walked toward it. "A monitor," Claire checked the computer, the open screen read: Security System Enabled. The letters were large and written in red. "Security system?" She closed the window. "Let's see if we can get the power on." She continued to check the computer. It had access to everything on this floor from the security cameras to the -Found it!-. Claire clicked on the tab that read: Power Grid. "Leon, take a look at this." Leon walked over to her as he did. He kicked some bullets that rested on the ground.

"Wait," Leon picked up one of the bullets. These belonged to that of a Gatling Gun which could only mean. Those things are here or were here. "Claire, we might have a bigger-," The lights of the room began to kick on. The entire room was empty, the walls covered in bullet holes. No mistake, those things were here.

"Damn, I didn't transfer enough power to this floor." Claire stepped away from the computer. "See, this is power grid." She pointed at the diagram. "This shows all the power being used on this floor. There isn't enough to power the whole floor, I think it's been damaged. We can transfer power from other areas to here but, I'm not sure there's enough." She explained. "Alex is," She pulled up the map. "Just beyond that door."

"Let's take a look," Leon walked up to the sealed door, inside through the small frame. He could see a long hallway leading straight to two double doors that were also sealed. The entire hallway was lit up with lights along the walls. He didn't know why but something about that hallway didn't sit well with him. "Just beyond there?" Claire nodded. "Alright keep trying to maneuver the grid. Remember some of these rooms are locked due to the power outage. Inside those rooms are,"

"Infected, I got it." Claire acknowledged. "I'll try to move things around carefully." She took a deep breath. "Okay let's try this patt-," Her hand struck a file on the desk. There was a note on it left by Ada. It read: "Thought this might help." Claire opened the file, inside was a master code which would give her full access to the computer. "Okay, that works." She entered the code powering the room. "We're in."

The door to the hallway started to slowly open. "I'll go check it out, Claire, you wait here. I might need you on that computer if things go south." Leon readied his handgun stepping into the hallway. In the center of it rested a corpse, he crouched down to investigate. It was the body of one of those monsters Claire and him fought together. It was chopped into several parts. The cuts were in a net like pattern. Who could have done this? Leon checked the ceiling to see a hole torn into it, it was just enough space for a person to escape through. However, it was too high up for him to reach. Suddenly, the door behind him slammed shut. "Huh?" Leon turned to face it. "That's not good." The door leading to Alex shut tight. He was trapped inside the hallway. "Claire," Leon noticed the lights getting brighter. This must have been what killed that monster.

"Leon, what's going on in there?" Claire panicked as the security system message popped up on the screen. "Okay, I just have to use the master code and shut it off no big deal. I can do that." She entered the code. A message popped up on the screen it read: "Invalid User Credentials." Claire entered it again, got the same message. "Um Leon," Claire grabbed the file reading over it. "How are you holding up in there?"

"Well," Leon jumped as a sharp burning hot laser came toward him. "I'm getting one hell of a light show." He slid underneath a laser as it came toward him. Leon jumped to his feet doing a flip over another laser. "Claire, you might want to hurry things up." He ran up the wall, flipping behind another laser. "I think I know what happens at the end."

"I'm trying," Claire flipped through the file. She was reading through the file as fast as she could. "There," She placed her index finger on a sentence and read it."The master code changes every ten-," She read. "Minutes." She finished. "It would have been nice if Ada mentioned that in her note." Claire took a deep breath. Okay, think, she still had access to part of the power grid. So maybe if she shut the power off, it would deactivate the security system. "Hang in there Leon," Claire clicked on the power grid tab. "I think I got it." Damn, the power wasn't shutting off. Okay, there had to be something else. "Don't worry Leon," Claire read through the instructions. "I'm not losing you." Claire took a deep breath. "Guess this is the only way."

"Claire," Leon braced himself as the net of lasers came toward him. He could run up the wall no, he'd get hit when performing the flip. No matter how he dodged, these lasers were going to chop him to bits. He was going to end up just like that monster. "Son of a-," Leon braced himself. Suddenly the power kicked off and the lasers stopped. The doors opened, Claire walked into the hallway. "You did it."

"Yeah, I did it but," Claire looked behind her. "The bad news is I entered the emergency access code which causes everything to reboot. Which," She let out a deep sigh. "Also unlocks every room." Hundreds of undead started rushing toward them. "Sorry. It was the only way." Leon pulled out his handgun. "We'd better go now." Claire ran toward the door with Leon. The doors slammed shut behind them trapping the undead. They could hear loud bangs on the door. "We made it," Claire walked along the large metal bridge looking below. "The question is," She placed her hand on the steel railing looking below. Underneath them was nothing but a huge lake made entirely out of boiling hot lava. That explained the intense heat from before. "Where the hell are we?" They heard laughter from the other side of the bridge.

"I believe you just answered your own question, Claire." Alex descended down on the other side of the bridge using her telekinetic powers to fly. When she landed she was surrounded by infected each and every one of them were under her complete control. "Welcome to Hell," Her eyes flared a fearsome bright red. Alex ignited one of the undead with fire lifting it into the air. She quickly threw it at them as if it were a flaming missile. "Die, Redfield." She took control over Claire's body preventing her from moving.

"Claire, look out," Leon tackled her. The undead's body crashed into the sealed door behind them. The impact was so great, it caused the body to explode, the limbs flew off leaving a gory mess on the floor. "You okay?" He got off Claire.

"Yeah," Claire got back on her feet. "Let's settle this." She readied her handgun. Alex smirked. Claire's blue eyes widened. Her powers they've grown. She watched as the lava gathered in front of Alex creating a massive ball of lava. The heat from that alone could melt their entire bodies.

"Scared, yet?" Alex hurled the giant ball right at them. Together Claire and Leon evaded the attack by laying on their stomachs at the last second. The intense heat melted away at the door behind them. It was then, Claire and Leon figured out what she was doing. The undead that were trapped before, she was letting them in. They were going to be outnumbered on both sides. They rose to their feet readying their guns getting back to back.

"It's hopeless," Alex laughed. She lifted a deadly licker into the air using her telekinetic power. The monster readied its claws to cut Leon. "Now die," She threw the licker at him. Leon shot at it as it came flying at him with great speed. He only got in two shots in before it reached him. Leon quickly hit it with a deadly roundhouse knocking it into the lava pit below.

"They just keep coming," Claire shot at the undead breaking through the door. An executioner walked up to the door forcing it open. "You've got to be kidding me." Claire shot at him as he walked toward her. Alex smirked gathering flame around his axe causing it to ignite. "Damn it," Claire ducked his swing shooting him in the face. He stumbled, Claire ran up and kicked him knocking him into the other infected.

"Claire, get down." Leon called out. Together they ducked as Alex threw two burning zombies at them. She missed causing her to hit the infected on the other side. Alex pointed once she did, three cerberus emerged from the crowd. Alex lit their fur on fire causing them to multiply into nine. The nine of them rushed at Leon. "Alright, Alex, let's see what you got." Leon began shooting at the cerberus. She kept trying to make them dodge the headshots but Leon predicted this. The controlled Cerberous walked right into the shot. "You're going to need some better tricks, Alex." Leon reloaded his handgun.

"Enough," Alex put her arms behind her back. Her entire army of undead rushed in an uncontrolled frenzy at Leon. He began taking them out one by one trying to fight his way to her. However, she wasn't making it easy. She would occasionally lend a hand and move some of them ever so slightly to dodge his bullets. It was hard to tell which she was controlling and which of them she wasn't.

"Claire," Leon called out. "I'm reloading," Claire nodded, Leon ducked. She kicked over him striking an infected with a roundhouse. The impact caused him to fall into the lava beneath them. "Thanks." A cerberus jumped at Claire, Leon shot it mid air stopping it dead in its tracks.

"Thanks," Claire reloaded her handgun. "Leon, there's just too many of them." She continued to shoot at the Executioner trying to bring him down. While she was focusing on him more kept coming in. "We're not going to have enough bullets." She reloaded her handgun. She didn't understand it, this executioner was much tougher than usual. It was then she caught on, Alex was pulling the bullets out and burning the wounds shut. "Smart, girl." Claire stepped back evading another attack. "Leon, this isn't good."

"We'll make it." Leon reloaded his handgun. "We're not leaving without Alex. We've come too far to let her walk away now." Alex snapped her fingers, Hunters broke in through the vents landing on the bridge in front of him. The Hunters all started screaming calling for backup. The numbers soon started to pile up. "Shit," He reloaded. Great, he had fifteen shots left until he was out. "She's not making this easy."

"Then we'll just have to," Claire dodged the executioner. "Make it harder for her to," A cerberus jumped at her. She shot it out of the air. "Kill us." The executioner slammed his axe down on her. Claire moved back making him miss. The burning axe started to vibrate as the spikes readied to fire. "Leon, dodge." Claire quickly slid under the bridge dangling from the edge in order to dodge.

"Shit," Leon slid underneath the bridge grabbing onto the railing. The flaming spikes from the axe fired off. The spikes fired off striking three Hunters through the throat, ripping through a couple of undead and firing right at Alex. She shifted their trajectory causing them to impale the wall right next to her head.

"Leon, you okay?" Claire called out. An infected tried to bite Claire forcing her off the edge, she jammed her combat knife into his neck. She quickly pulled it out and flipped him over railing into the lava. "Whoa," Claire ducked as the flaming axe swung over her. She shot the executioner stunning him. She climbed back onto the bridge regaining her footing. "Need a hand." She held her hand out to Leon helping him over the railing.

"Let's hope there's no more of that." Leon took a deep breath after almost falling off the edge. He started to shoot at an undead but heard a click instead. "Shit, out of bullets. Claire got any?" She started to shoot at the executioner but heard a click.

"No, I'm out but," Claire ducked the Excutioner's axe. "It's too late to turn back Leon." She pulled out her knife. "We'll just have to keep fighting." She slashed the Executioner four times with her knife. "Take this," She unleashed a full power roundhouse knocking him back. He slouched over. Once he did, Claire ran at him and kicked him again causing him to back up again.

"My thoughts exactly," Leon put away his Handgun. "Come on, you son of a bitch." A licker jumped at him. He caught it in mid air jamming his knife into its exposed brain twisting it and pulling it out. A hunter screamed lunging at him. Leon evaded its claws, kicking the monster into the lava. He ducked an infected's grapple getting behind it and jamming his knife into its throat. He kicked it into the lava after taking his knife out of its throat. "Claire, look out," A licker jumped over Executioner at her claws out ready to chop her head off.

"I don't think so," Claire jumped at it pinning its arms down with her legs. It squirmed trying to get free as it did. Its tongue tried to wrap around her, she cut it with her knife keeping the monster pinned. "Die already," She took her combat knife and stabbed it in the brain relentlessly until it stopped moving. "Huh," The executioner slammed his heavy axe down on her. Claire caught it with both arms holding it in place. "Leon, I could use a little help." She tried to hold the weapon in place but he was too strong.

"Claire, hold on." Leon pulled his knife out of a Hunters throat. He tried to get to her but he was being overwhelmed. "Damn it, just give me a minute Claire, I'll think of something." He continued to fight off the undead as they approached him. Alex smirked lifting a screaming Hunter in the air with her powers. "That's not good," She threw it at him using the loud noise from its scream to damage his ears. Just before it was able to reach him. Leon watched as a steel arrow darted past him. He could hear a faint beeping sound coming from the arrow as it lodged into the Hunter's throat. Soon after, the arrow exploded blowing the Hunter to bits. That arrow, where did it-

"Sorry to keep you waiting Leon." Ada swung in using her hookshot. "I had some loose ends to tie up." She dropped a Rocket Launcher by Leon's feet. "Hope that helps." She landed on a large bridge that rested above theirs on the right side. "I think it's time, we put an end to this wouldn't you say, Alex?" She shot an arrow with a flash grenade attached to it at Alex blinding her. "I'll keep her busy, Leon, think you can handle the rest." She reloaded her crossbow. "I've had enough running."

"You're not the only one," Moira kicked a vent open. She dropped down landing on a bridge that was near Leon and Claire's but was too high up for them to reach. "Hey nut job," Moira pulled out her handgun. "Hands off Claire." She unloaded her bullets into his skull until he finally backed off. "Claire, kick his ass." Claire ran up and kicked him as hard as she could knocking him back. The impact wasn't as strong as she hoped. Alex put up a weak telekinetic wall to cushion the blow. "Hey, Claire, need some bullets." Moira dropped all of her handgun bullets down to Claire. That should give her enough for a couple more reloads. Now it's time to settle the score.

"Hey bitch," Moira called out getting Alex's attention. She positioned herself right next to a fuel canister that was set near the edge. "You know what happens when you play with fire." Moira kicked the canister off the edge and right on top of a horde of undead. "Your ass gets burned." She smirked. "Claire, shoot it." Claire shot the canister as it was falling. The explosion ripped apart a large amount of undead and created a gap in the bridge. The gap was big enough to make it harder for certain types of undead to reach them.

"I like your friend," Leon picked up the Rocket Launcher. It had enough for four shots which was plenty enough to finish the mission. It was nice to know he could always count on Ada to deliver. "She's almost as good as my friend." Claire laughed sharing some of her bullets with him.

"Almost," Claire repeated her eyes focused on the Rocket Launcher. "I guess you have a point but you gotta love Moira." Alex's eyes burned with anger. Leon shot at her with the Rocket Launcher. She stopped the rocket throwing it back at him. Claire tackled him protecting him from the explosion. Ada shot her with another flash arrow blinding her.

"Okay, time to lend Claire a hand." Moira searched the area. The bridge above Claire was lined up with fuel canisters. She could drop these on top of the enemies. She just had to push them over. "Hey, what's that over there." She noticed a Grenade Launcher that was barred to the wall. She could break off the restraints with her crowbar. Right next to it were some flame rounds. "Hold on, Claire, here comes some serious firepower." She rushed over to it.

The moment she did, Alex flew up there with her. "Hello Moira," She lifted up three burning hot zombies. "How about a game of catch." She threw one of them at her, Moira ducked it and they crashed into the wall behind her. "Oh, I missed, let me try that again." She lifted up two more prepared to throw them at her.

"Oh, no," Moira didn't have any bullets left. She's a sitting duck here. "Is this about that fire joke because," She put her hands up in surrender. "I didn't mean it." Alex's eyes flared red. "Claire, a little help here." Alex hurled flaming zombies at her. Moira screamed as she dodged them. "Oh, fuck, she's pissed, she's really pissed." She got on her hands and knees crawling to avoid the zombies being thrown at her.

"Enough Games," Alex snapped her fingers. Lickers started coming toward her. Moira gulped pulling out the only weapon she had. Her crowbar, like this was going to help against those things. An arrow flew passed denoting destroying the lickers. "Ada," Alex's eyes filled with rage. "That's it," Her powers started to spike. "I've had it with your interference." Alex threw a licker toward Ada.

"It wouldn't be the first time, I've heard that." Ada shot the Licker out of the air killing it in one shot. "If I didn't know any better. I'd say you only place second to your brother." She reloaded her crossbow. "But of course, that's yet to be determined." She went to fire another flash arrow at Alex. She stopped it in mid shot crushing it before it could blind her. "That's only the first of many." Ada went to fire another one. Suddenly, her feet started to leave the ground. "What is this?" Ada tried to move but her whole body was being held by Alex's powers. "I can't move." She tried to fight it but Alex had her. Her powers were growing faster than anyone could have anticipated. "Leon," Ada gripped her throat as Alex started choking her. "Do something." She tried to fight it but it was no use.

"Well, I'd say it's been determined now." Alex flew over to her with an evil smirk on her face. "Be sure to tell my dear brother that his sweet sister says hello." She gripped tighter on Ada's throat. "After all, you'll be joining him soon." The metal spikes that were stuck in the wall started to break free as she controlled Ada. "I know you have a habit of cheating death so this time, I'll make sure you don't escape." The spikes appeared next to Alex. She fired one of them into Ada's leg. She then threw Ada into the wall as hard as she could.

"Damn you," Ada started to crawl away. "If you think," She tried to pull out the spike but it was stuck in her leg too deep. "This is going to make you superior to your brother. You've got another thing coming." She continued to crawl away from her. "You're still-," She reached for the railing getting on her feet. "Only second to him." She chuckled. "You were so afraid of death that you took over the body of a defenseless child." Ada smiled at her. "Wesker wanted to be a god but you." She laughed. "You're just pathetic."

"Ada, what are you doing?" Leon yelled. "Don't piss her off." He tried shooting at Alex with his handgun. She kept blocking every bullet treating them like they were nothing. He could use the Rocket Launcher but then, he would risk killing her.

"Pathetic," Alex lifted Ada into the air. "You see, this was never about being better than my brother. We both share the same common goal. That goal is to create a virus that would rid the world of all of its imperfections. But before I can do that," She smiled. "I must first be perfect, yes, I took over Natalia's body. My body wasn't perfect. However," She chuckled. "This body." She slowly brought her hand closer to a fist. Ada started to scream as her bones were being crushed by Alex's telekinetic powers. "Is Perfection." Ada screamed louder as her hand came closer to a fist. "Don't worry, I won't kill you just yet." Alex's lips formed a devilish smirk. "First, I will break every bone in your miserable body. " Ada tried to break free of her control. "Then, I'll tear off your limbs." She brought her hand closer to a fist. "If you manage to survive that. Well, I guess that means I get to play with your organs. Doesn't that sound like fun?" Ada continued to scream in pain. "Does it hurt?" She slowly started to close her hand. Ada screamed louder as a result. "Good."

"Alex, let go of her." Leon screamed shooting at her with his handgun. "I said let her go or I'll-," He readied his rocket launcher. Three shots, plenty enough to take her down. As powerful as she is she couldn't block them all. The explosion alone would kill her.

"Or you'll what?" Alex laughed playfully. "Kill me." She guessed. "You wouldn't do that would you?" She asked. "That goes against your mission." She continued to hurt Ada. "This woman has been nothing but an inconvenience for me. I will see to it," Leon cringed trying to ignore Ada's screams but he couldn't. It's Ada, he had to stop this. "She gets her just reward." She slammed Ada's body into the steel wall then she lifted her back into the air. "Goodbye, Miss Wong." She threw Ada into the ground as hard as she could. "I wanted to play with her more but I guess that will just have to do." Leon watched as Ada's body rested there on the ground motionless. He couldn't get to her and there was no way of knowing if she was alive or not. He had no choice but to assume the worst. Ada was dead and Alex killed her.

"You'll pay for-," Leon's eyes filled with anger. He readied the Rocket Launcher. He didn't care what it took. Alex would pay for what she did to Ada. He'd fire every shot until she was dead. He prepared to fire but Claire stopped him. "She has to die, Claire. I can't let her live after what she did to Ada."

"Leon, listen to me," Claire blocked his shot. "If you kill her all of this will be for nothing. Please there's another way." She spoke calmly. "This is not the way to settle this. We need to get Natalia back to headquarters." Leon readied the rocket launcher. "Leon, please just trust-," Alex started pulling at the bridge breaking it. "Shit, she's going to tear the whole place apart." The infected started to pile up on them again. "Damn it,"

"Take this," Moira fired at Alex with the Grenade Launcher equipped with Flame Rounds. She crushed the round before it hit her. "Oh, fuck." Alex started to crush the bridge she was on. "Claire, I need your help." Moira dropped the grenade launcher causing it to land in a horde of undead by Claire. "Oh, god," The canisters started to spill out everywhere dousing the enemies below.

"Leon," Claire moved aside. "I'm going to trust you to do the right thing okay." She took a deep breath. "Right now, I've gotta save Moira." She rushed toward the undead. Leon turned and shot them with the rocket launcher clearing the way for her. Claire picked up the grenade launcher shooting at the leaking canisters. The flame rounds ignited the gasoline clearing out most of the undead. Now all she had left to do was get Alex. How was she going to do that? Her powers were out of control, she was tearing the place apart. No one could get close to her.

"Claire, help," Moira started to slide down the broken bridge. "I don't wanna die." She screamed grabbing onto the last bit of the bridge. Claire shut her eyes, there's no other way. She had to trust Ada on this.

"I hope this works," Claire pulled out the capsule shooter. "Leon, I need you to lower her defenses so I can get a clear shot at her. Can you do that for me?" He nodded at her. "Fire two rockets at her, that should be enough to restrain her. Long enough for me to-," The executioner slammed his axe down on her. She grabbed it with both arms fighting with him. "Don't worry about me just shoot her." Claire continued to fight with him. "Leon, whatever you do, don't kill her. She has to block them."

"Got it," Leon aimed the rocket launcher at Alex. "Time to take a nap." He fired one rocket at her. She blocked trying to throw it back at him. He fired another at the same rocket causing it to explode. Alex recoiled from the blast hitting the wall behind her. "Claire, take the shot." Alex started to get back on her feet. "Claire do it now." The bridge started to bend and break causing Claire to slide down drawing closer to the lava. The capsule shooter started to slide as well, Claire reached and grabbed it before it did. She kicked the executioner into the lake of fire freeing herself.

"Claire," Moira screamed as she lost her grip. Claire watched as she started to fall into lava below. She couldn't let that happen, she had to save her.

"Leon, catch." Claire threw him the capsule shooter. Leon caught it shooting Alex with it. The capsule broke revealing three sharp needles which were injected into Alex's neck seconds before she recovered.

"What have you done?" Alex pulled out the needles in her neck. "No, is this, when did you-," She collapsed to her knees. "Ada," She crushed the needles in her hand. "You bitch," She snarled. "No," She gripped her head. "This can't be happening. I had complete control, I was the perfect creation. No, damn you." She gritted her teeth together. "Nataliaaa," She screamed as she fell over unconscious.

"Not perfect enough," Leon threw the capsule shooter aside.

"Hold on, Moira, I'm coming." Claire lunged toward the edge of the bridge grabbing Moira by the arm. "I got you, I'm not going to let go okay." The fumes of the lava caused Moira to black out, her body was getting heavier as a result. "Shit, come on, I just gotta pull myself up." She tried but the combined weight was too much for her to lift with one arm. "One more time," Claire screamed but it was no use. The bridge started to break, if she didn't pull herself up soon they'd both die. "I'm not leaving you again."

"It's over," Leon set Natalia by the exit. The young girl was unconscious but alive. The place started to shake. Lava started shooting up as parts of metal fell into it. "The whole place is coming down. We gotta get-,"

"The Self Destruct Sequence has been initiated." Red lights started to flash as alarms sounded. "All personnel please evacuate immediately." It was Umbrella, they must have reached the control room. They weren't going to let them leave with Natalia. They'd rather kill her than let her fall into enemy hands. The timer was set, Leon had six minutes to get the hell out of here but. He wasn't leaving without Claire. Wait, Ada, Leon checked the bridge Ada was on but it was no longer there. It must've fallen into the lava below. She didn't make it, the place started to shake once more.

"Leon," Claire screamed. "Help, I'm slipping." Leon raced over to sound of Claire's voice. Not good, Leon sprinted as the bridge started to bend and break. "Ahh," Claire started to fall, Leon performed a slide hooking his leg around a bar catching her hand. His weight caused the bridge to break further.

"It's okay, I got you." Leon assured her. "I'm going to pull you up okay just hang on." Her hand was covered in sweat from the heat. He had to be careful, she might slip, Leon tried to pull her and Moira up with one arm. Claire started to slip but he gripped her arm. Shit, too heavy, the bridge was bent into an L shape causing Leon to dangle closer to the lava. It won't hold much longer, he had to use both arms this time. "Come on," No good, the incline was too great, it was requiring more strength to hold them now. "You need to wake Moira up, maybe she could climb over you and I could pull you up." Claire, what was she thinking? No, he knew exactly what she was thinking. It was deja-vu, it was just like that time with Ada in Raccoon City. He had to let her go but this time, it had to be different. He couldn't let Claire go knowing she'd- Leon tried to pull her up again but it was no use. "Listen to me Claire, we're going to make it out both of us. So, don't, don't do this not now."

"Leon," Claire glanced down at Moira. The words Ada told her crept deep into her thoughts. You can't save everyone. Ada knew, somehow Ada knew what was going to happen to her. But, she was right, she couldn't save everyone. "Listen to me Leon, I'm going to send Moira up to you. I need you to take her okay?"

"What about you?" Leon asked. "If I do that then," He couldn't believe what Claire was asking him to do. "Claire, I can't do that, you can't ask me to-,"

"I'm not asking you." Claire corrected. "I'm telling you to take her. Leon, you can't save us both. But you can save her and that's enough alright." The bridge started to break apart. "There's not much time left, if you don't get out of here soon. No one will make it so please just take her and go." Leon gripped tighter on her hand refusing to let go.

"Claire, listen to me," Leon stared into her eyes. Those eyes, he could see it all, the struggles they faced together. They both escaped that night in Raccoon City, she survived then, she had to survive now. He couldn't let her go knowing she'd-. "I'm going to pull you up okay, we're going to make it together." He tried once more but it was no use.

"I'm glad that we met Leon," Claire's eyes stared into the lava below. "Out of all the people I could've been stuck with that night Raccoon City went to hell. I'm glad that it was you." She looked up at him. "But you gotta let me go okay?"

"Claire, you know I can't do that." Leon started to pull still no good. "Damn it," Leon took deep breaths as his grip became sweaty. Any minute now, he was going to lose his grip on Claire and lose both her and Moira. Something had to be done soon.

"Four minutes till Detonation." The underground lab began to rattle and roar. The bridge was starting to give out. Still Leon refused to let go of Claire. He couldn't, he knew what would happen if he did.

"I'm going to let go Leon," Claire told him. "When I do, I'm going to throw Moira up to you. I need you to catch her. Promise me," She gripped his arm tightly. "You'll do whatever it takes to get both Natalia and Moira out of here." Leon shut his eyes tightly trying to hold back the pain this request would cause him. It was what Claire wanted, as much, as he wished he could save them both he couldn't. He had to honor Claire's last request.

"I promise," Leon felt Claire's grip on his hand fade. He still held onto her hand even as it slipped free of his grip. As Claire was falling, she quickly used what strength she had left to send Moira up to him. Leon reached out, his hand barely connected with that of Moira's. "I got you," Leon quickly pulled her up letting her unconscious body rest on his shoulder. He grabbed onto the railing using it to help him climb up the dangling bridge. "Almost there," Leon draped over his shoulder onto leveled ground. "Made it," The dangling part of the bridge broke off falling into the lava.

"Claire," Leon eye's searched over the edge of the bridge into the lava below for any traces of her. It was hard to accept that Claire was gone but. He made her a promise. "Come on, Moira, let's get you out of here." He draped Moira on his shoulder. He heard loud coughs escape her once he reached Natalia.

"Claire," Moira coughed. "Where's Claire?" She asked. Leon didn't answer her, he couldn't. "No," She gasped. "She didn't." She started to go back for her. Leon took her arm shaking his head at her. "We can't just leave her." He picked Natalia up. "We have to go back, there's got to be something-,"

"We have to go," Leon spoke over her. "Claire made her choice. She chose you. Now if we don't get out of here soon. That choice would have been for nothing." Moira shut her eyes taking a deep breath. "I made a promise to Claire. Whether or not I can keep that promise is up to you."

"Okay," Moira walked over to the railing of the broken bridge. The place continued to shake as bits of metal tore off into burning hot lava below. The alarms continued to sound, red lights flashing throughout the facility. "I'll go."
