Line Break

Upon Percy's eyes there was a hint of worry and disbelief. He had not expected that Nereus would truly be foolish enough to invoke the Pillar of the World Ocean's projection, 'but for what reason would he risk his immortal life essence?' Percy wondered truly disbelievingly. 'Did madness besot by lust for power incur seeds of ill judgement in his eyes or has his eyes been cast into darkness by a tongue silver of sweet honey?'

The Seven Eternal Pillars were bad enough for normal immortals to fear with shivering spines prickled by needles of frost. One would expect that one who had lived upon the world for as long as Nereus would understand that the Pillar of the World Ocean was vastly different from the Seven Eternal Pillars of the seas as Heaven was different from Earth. If one had not the power deeply set within their bones or their existential foundations not firm and unyielding, The Pillar of the World Ocean's backlash would ruthlessly use the summoner's life force as a source of power.

There was good reason for such tyrannical requirements. The World Ocean Pillar was the Primal convergence point of the essences of water and Life on the planet. So great was it's importance that never had one summoned it with impunity such as now. To invoke the Pillar was to form a contractual agreement upon your life essence and power in order to use its abilities. Power is rarely ever free if at all.

Nereus in Percy's eyes was a mediocre god at best, he never truly ruled the seas on a true lordship level like Oceanus and Poseidon, his only true admirable quality until now was his profound vision. However the problem with vision was that vision of oneself have always been shrouded in mystery and it was for good reason. Like the visions seen by Oracles, they can be twisted and led towards the goals of another.

'Has the idiot seen himself radiant above the Earth stretching his hands towards heaven?' Percy wondered as he charged forward. 'If it is so, then one who has seen so much of others was bewitched by another. His greatest desire surely he was shown, yet his eyes saw but fell not upon the light but upon shadows besot by lust of power and thus his heart fell to greed. What a pity it is.'

But for Nereus to invoke the World Ocean Pillar was beyond Percy's expectation of light falling upon rational thought and he doubted it was so. Percy also found that he could scarcely fathom the source of Nereus got his new found courage. That Pillar was no play ground swing that one would dare invoke out of boredom, there must be a reason beyond that. And worse yet was that Percy knew that Nereus did not have firm existential foundations nor was his power deep enough or else he could have wrestled with Poseidon for the Lordship of the seas, but he couldn't rather than he had not desired to for that would surly be a lie.

'Now lo and behold this fool sea god has invoked the very Pillar that could destroy him body and essence and wipe him from existence. What is he playing at?' Percy raked his brain truly unable to fathom this level of idiocy. 'And what was in it for him that he would risk his very existence?'

Percy shook his head from his thoughts and his eyes narrowed at the sea god. He snorted coldly with a frosty whisper of disdain curling his lip at Nereus using the Pillar.

"Idiot!" Percy sneered under breath as he charged at Nereus.

"Ha-ha! It's too late, Uncle!" Nereus Boomed as he readied his own weapon to attack. "After today, I, Nereus shall sit upon the Throne of the All Sea."

'The All Sea Throne of Heaven?'

When Percy heard this, he nearly stumbled over as his stomach twisted and churned with what felt like a cold sneering laughter that had been held for too long and was about to burst. But at the same time Percy truly was stunned as he heard Nereus announce that he wanted to sit on a Throne of Heaven.

Percy felt his brow continue to twitch, but he did not stop his charge despite his momentary stagger step of surprise. His eyes glittered with radiance and swung his sword forward in a descending arch slash that parted the water, causing the air to hiss and boom. His aura bloomed with a wave of horrifying archaic power. The power in and of itself was not immense nor was it far beyond the scope of an ordinary god, but the might of the power was truly strange. For it was truly profoundly lofty with an ancient air of haughtiness and dignity that even the World Ocean Pillar had to shudder in serene shame.

Though Percy had sacrificed much of his awakened power when he battled and defeated Kronos and yet again when he removed the memories of the Olympians of the meeting with Gaea. His power still had some his blood age within it to lend it the might of his ancient will. His blood age was immense and powerful…even a single drop worth of it was enough to surmount the limitations of his current lack of raw power. It gave him access to his will of Lordship.

Percy noticed that Nereus looked at the ripple in the air and for a single moment, Percy saw what had appeared to be the barest hints of a deep sense of impending danger that shone from Nereus' eyes. Nereus raised his hand leisurely hoping that his eyes had not shown the hint of deathly fear it had flashed barely moments ago, from his rising hand a robust wall of water rose to meet Percy's sword wave.

"Impudent fool!" Percy sneered as he charged even faster than before.

BOOOOOM! The water wall exploded when it was pierced through by the power of the sword wave.

To Nereus' shock the sword wave had not been destroyed by means of the impact with the wall, it had in fact been made even greater than before. His face remained calm but a deep sense of danger welled up in his chest as he saw the sword wave racing towards him carrying with it his uncle's will and power.

He knew that against both the will and power, he would be battered like a fly on a windshield if he did not use the Pillar. Faster than sound, he retreated ten kilometres away with a very solemn and wary face. His fingers began to incite incantations and his lips pulled in the aura of the World Ocean Pillar, "Suppression!" he shouted as his fingers gestured spell after spell. "Realm Sea Shield shatters all."

Upon this, a smile appeared on the face of Percy. He stopped and turned towards Frank and Hazel watching nervously upon the sea vessel. He ignited his blood age and summoned the power of the ocean. A light bluish mist blew over the ship as they were suddenly and very quickly shot away beyond the immediate vicinity at rather shocking speeds.

Percy smiled and turned back towards Nereus once he saw to that Frank and Hazel were far away from immediate harm. Had they stayed, they would have become liabilities at sea. He looked at the nervous eyes of Nereus and smiled wryly.

"Little fool, the longer you fight with the aide of the World Ocean Pillar. The more it will eat up your life energy," Percy sneered viciously. "You will never have the chance to see The All Sea Throne. You Nereus, you're only a fool and yet your fools heart is presumptuous enough to dream about sitting upon on one of the fourteen Heavenly Thrones!"

As the sword wave reached Nereus it dissipated. Percy saw this and simply shook his head without a comment. It was really within his expectations. Had Nereus struggled against that tiny sword wave while using the World Ocean Pillar, then he truly was not fit to even dream of the All Sea Throne never mind to summon it.

"Suppress the Earth and open the Heavens!" Nereus shouted with a series of gestures to summon an attack against Percy.

Percy stopped his charge and dipped his sword seven times creating seven series of gentle ripples on the surface of the sea that progressively got wider than before as time progressed. He smiled then resumed his charge, he swiped at the air once more to create another sword wave, but this time the skies rumbled in the background.

Nereus' series of gestures summoned forth from the sea a watery shield and Machaira. With his armament in hand he charged forward at blinding speeds to meet the sword wave. He raised his shield when the sword wave got close. The boom of air being forcefully ripped apart resounded when the two collided, but Nereus' momentum had not been halted by the collision as he charged forward like herd of buffalos to meet his uncle in armed combat. He felt his ichor seethe with anticipation.

Percy raised his sword and struck forward just as Nereus arrived to meet him in combat. The two collided and were instantly pushed back by the impact, but their momentum had not in anyway been halted. There was no faltering in their eyes. Percy swung his blade upward in a rising arch, Nereus' eyes narrowed as he parried the sword with his shield and then thrust his machaira at Percy.

Percy quickly dodged to the left and retreated backwards before charging again, but his charge was stopped by a wave of suppression that came from the World Ocean Pillar. He howled in defiance as he staggered backwards. His eyes turned bloodshot as he felt his body tremble from the pressure. Nereus smiled and thrust his weapon that released a jet of pure energy.

The fierce energy wave struck Percy hard on the chest sending him flying back through the air for more than a kilometre like a rag doll or stone launched from a sling shot before he fell into the water. Upon contact with the water Percy opened his eyes as the feeling the abundant energy of the water flowed into him. He ignited his energies and through his power over water pushed himself to the surface. The water spat him out and hardened below his feet.

Percy looked at Nereus and saw a pleased look on his face and shook his head, "You will have to do better than that Nephew!" he spoke tersely.

"Ha-Ha, watch uncle as I summon the Throne of the All Sea," Nereus announced with visible hints of madness in his voice.

The Pillar of the World Ocean began to glow brightly. The water around the Pillar began to converge towards it creating a whirlpool that caused the Pillar to in turn grow larger. As the Pillar grew so did its power and Percy could already feel it in his very being.

"Three ripples in time created Heaven and Earth," Percy spoke and the clouds that had been gathering turned a deep soul churning grey. "Three ripples in time mark the cycle of Life and Death."

The seven ripples that had been left in the water had grown and overlapped each other and wound themselves around the Pillar of World Ocean. Thunder boomed within the clouds as lightning crackled and hissed like wild animals full of madness. The ripples that had wound themselves around the World Ocean Pillar appeared as rippling jewels that glittered brilliantly in the water upon being touched by the rays of the sun. It was truly beautiful sight to behold.

Each ripple shone bright and beautiful with different colours and where they met the colours changed and warped eventually creating the entire spectrum of colour that seemed to rise up towards Heaven before cascading down towards the Earth like the rays the fell upon the blessing of Heaven and Earth. The light spread until the entire Earth was shrouded by this light. All of those who saw the phenomena were touched deeply within their hearts and they knew silently with great certainty that the world would change.

"The seventh ripple in time upends Heaven and Earth and shatters life and death," Percy chanted solemnly with dim narrowed eyes. "First Ripple in time. Celestial time resonance seal locks the Heavens and seals the Earth."

As soon as Percy spoke an archaic aura bloomed around him and within it was an ancient profoundness that couldn't even be found on the World Sea Pillar. This was an aura vastly older than the universe itself. Even time for a moment seemed as though it had stopped and trembled in reverence and awe. Percy's drop of blood age erupted and joined the first time ripple.

The first ripple upon contact with the drop of blood age caused the heavenly cascading light from the ripples to stop. Dark bellowing clouds began to gather at an exceedingly fast rate because of the blood age in contact with the first ripple. The clouds black and terrible as they were had gathered very quickly.

One upon careful observation could clearly see that there ravenous forked veins of lightning that began hissing and crackling furiously as if they were wild animals whose hearts were filled with enraged madness. The clouds began to swirl while creating a series of ripples within them. Suddenly the clouds froze mid swirl and shattered as the bolts lightning broke free, but the amazing thing was that they also froze and shattered into golden fragment that congealed together moments later creating a powerful but thin veil like net that looked as though it had been woven by Heavenly and Earthen light that appeared between Heaven and Earth and separated the two akin to star crossed lover being drawn away from one another.

BOOOOOOOOOOOM! The Pillar of World Ocean Cracked as it's connection to Heaven was severed.

Nereus saw this and his eyes became bloodshot with anger and disbelief. Madness quickly overcame his mind as the backlash hit and roared loudly to the heavens. His eyes turned dark and dangerous and his aura rose quickly as he began frantically assume his true godly form, "Oh, Abyssal eye unlock Heaven!" he howled in fury as he drew in power from the Pillar of the World Ocean and mixed it with his own life essence. "Sever life and death. Sunder blood and rain and show me the Thrones of Heaven for I have claim. Unlock it all! ha-ha-ha…!"

"Now, you will understand little one," Percy laughed when he heard Nereus. "Only a fool forces the Thrones in Heaven to appear. You will know what true Heaven is. Whether you survive… I do not know nor do I care."

Percy turned away from Nereus and dove into the water in order to locate Frank and Hazel. To him the fight with Nereus was just beginning. He knew full well that everything would change after today and perhaps so too would his task finally begin…he truly hoped it would. He had been here far too long and he missed his home.
