Chapter 50: The Awakening (Part 1)
"How was it?
Syaoran tucked a loose strand of auburn hair behind Sakura's ear before replying to Natsume.
"She took it fairly well, if we disregard the fact that she fainted right after she realized Xiao Bao is our son."
Keeping his voice low enough as to not abruptly wake up his wife, Syaoran lightly patted her tiny head as if consoling her and calming her messed up emotions.
Moreover, he just simply adores her beautiful silky hair.
Thoughts from the past flitter in his mind.
There was a time back then when they were still kids and he would rub her head to praise her when her kick was high enough in their dojo class.
His smile deepened when he thought of when they spent a week together in bliss three years ago and he would play with her hair before gradually falling asleep.
He would always wake up much earlier than her and he would just play with her hair, a seemingly normal action for him which brings him so much peace.
Syaoran bent down and planted a light kiss on Sakura's forehead before standing up from the edge of the bed to continue his conversation with Natsume.
Let her rest for a bit.
Her emotions will definitely be chaotic again once she wakes up.
"We'll wait for her. Let us not rush her." Natsume paused, "Although the Old Man (Old General) and Uncle Fujitaka are pretty anxious that it's already been almost an hour and you haven't returned yet so they have sent your and Sakura's lunch over."
(sound of brass knuckle knocker rapping on the wooden door)
"Well, that's it. Just let them in and set the food up. She'll probably wake up in a few minutes or so."
If it wasn't against his perception of genuine manliness, Syaoran would have rolled his eyes at Natsume.
"Man, we both know the smell of her favorite food will wake her up. Tell everyone we'll be there in half an hour."
Without saying anything else, both men ended the call and Syaoran stood up to let the servants enter the room. They then placed their delayed lunch in the dining area inside the spacious bedroom.
He signalled for them to take off the lids before leaving as to make the scent of some buttered lobster and truffle pasta permeate in the enclosed room.
Syaoran walked over his wife's side and laid down beside her.
Tenderly caressing her head with one hand, he wrapped the other arm around her and pulled her body closer to him.
"Sakura, wake up."
Nothing.
He bent down and placed a light kiss on her slightly pale lips.
"Sakura, wake up."
"Mou~~~~~"
"Baby you have to wake up. Don't you want to see our son?"
Sleepiness left Sakura as she suddenly sat up and grabbed a handful of Syaoran's shirt.
Stunning wide emerald eyes stared back at those warm amber ones.
"It wasn't a dream? Hontou?! Was it real? Do we really have a child?"
"Yes." Syaoran nodded his head to answer her every question.
"And Xiao Bao," Sakura turned to look at the still sleeping bundle of fat who is comfortably settled under the covers, beside her. "And Xiao Bao….."
She swallowed a lump in her throat as she tried to keep her emotions in check.
"And Xiao Bao….."
Tears welled up in her eyes and her hands trembled as she held onto Syaoran's arms.
"Yes, baby." He pulled her to his chest and pressed her soft, shivering body closer to his.
He kissed the top of her head as he gently assures her, "Xiao Bao is our child. We both don't know what really happened but we will get to the bottom of it. I assure you. But there is one thing that I am one hundred percent sure as of this moment and I want you to hold onto this fact alright?"
Sakura looked up at him through her uncontrollable tears.
"What is it?"
His large warm hands gently wiped the tears that are constantly falling down her pale cheeks.
"Xiao Bao did not grow up with us but he did live in a safe and comfortable home."
Syaoran paused for a while before continuing.
"He may not know his parents but he did know a warm family who gave him all the love and care that they can. They did not even lie to him by getting some couple to pretend to be his parents."
Sakura nodded in between her sobs.
Yes, Old Madam Rou Xi did tell her that Xiao Bao has no parents and he only knew of his grandparents and two older brothers. They created a family for him without lying about who his real parents are.
Seeing Sakura slowly calming down, Syaoran continued,
"Xiao Bao has never acknowledged anyone to be his mama. Or his papa. Right?"
Sakura nodded.
Old Madam Rou Xi did tell her that it was her first time to hear Xiao Bao call someone "mama" or "papa".
"My poor son… he must have been so lonely looking for his parents for a year…" Sakura teared up again.
"Hush, hush…" he alternately kissed her eyes. "You don't have to think of it like that. Ah Xu actually told us that when Xiao Bao was a little mature enough to ask his parents' whereabouts, they assured him that we have been travelling and will be back home to be with him soon."
Syaoran grabbed some tissues and gently cleaned her face as he continued to comfort her.
"Xiao Bao is actually a sensible child. He rarely throws tantrums if he can't see his parents because they did shower him with so much love, you know. Although it has been tough for them whenever he isn't feeling fell because that's when he would look for us the most."
Worry crossed Sakura's face and Syaoran immediately followed up on what he said.
"Ah Xu said it only happened once and that was exactly during his 1st year birthday."
Sakura sniffed loudly as she let him wipe her face and snot with some tissues.
"When was his birthday? Do you mean that he got sick on the same day?"
Oh my poor, poor, poor child.
Sakura tried to hold back the fresh batch of waterworks as she rapidly blinked her eyes to keep them from falling.
"I'll tell you more about him while we eat our lunch."
Syaoran smiled at her as he picked her up by the waist and carried her off to the dining area on the other side of the room.
Placing her on his lap, he slowly fed her as he answered some of the questions she had that he also had coincidentally asked Yue Xu this morning.
Seeing her cheering up a little as she learned of Xiao Bao's happy early childhood, he told her to fix herself up so that they can return to the family luncheon.
"We have many things to discuss regarding this matter."
Syaoran grabbed her hands before she got up from his lap and kissed their wedding band as he stared back at her.
Sakura's face darkened.
"I want to know everything that has happened, who we think were involved, and what necessary steps can we do now to start our revenge on these f**** b****s."
He tightened her grip around her fragile wrists.
"Sakura, this is probably just the beginning of their real plan."
A sudden chill surrounded Sakura and she was taken aback as she stared into Syaoran's eyes.
His usual golden amber eyes has turned to a darker shade of brown and almost seemed depthless. If they were living in a fantasy world, she is almost sure that ice blades would have come out suddenly from within them.
Truthfully though,if it was anyone else but Sakura seeing this, that person would've been too scared to move even a muscle.
We must kill them.
Kill them all.
Torture them slowly one by one.
Yes. we must. Syaoran agreed with that voice in his head.
"I will protect you and Xiao Bao with all that I can, Sakura. And I will make them pay for what they did to you and our child a thousandfold worse. I swear on yours and my life, Sakura. Trust me on this."
He will have no mercy on anyone involved in this.
Kill them.
Must kill.
Feeling the surging bloodthirst in Syaoran, Sakura quickly closed the gap between them and held his chilly face on her cold hands.
She understood what Syaoran is going through as she too feels the thirst to end the lives of all who did this to them. Her bloodthirst too is slowly growing inside her and she could feel it chilling her down to her bones.
She has never felt this kind of strong urge to kill before.
To slowly take one's life and torture him slowly; she want to grip his neck, tightening her hands gradually and slowly feel him losing his life within her own hands.
"We will do it together, my Xiao Lang."
A sweet fragrance suddenly covered him and a pair of cold yet very soft lips touched his own gently.
Syaoran woke up from his mad stupor, and he looked down in a daze on his wife's eyes that held so much murder intent in them.
"You and me, The IL Lupo and the Kuro Hime. We'll fight for our son."
-XoXoxXox-
"Where's Little Muye?"
Sakura craned her neck left and right trying to catch a glimpse of her young blond cousin.
"Now that you've mentioned it, he hasn't arrived yet."
Fujitaka frowned as he took out his mobile and checked on a message.
"He did send me a message before the luncheon started that he suddenly had an emergency and rushed back to the hospital."
"But his car broke down. Did you lend him a car?"
"Oh, are you talking about your blond cousin?" Koko interrupted the father and daughter talk as he passed by to get some dessert by Sakura's side.
"Yeah, do you know what happened to him?"
Sakura couldn't help but worry about Jiang Muye. She has been feeling uneasy about him the moment she talked to him on the phone this morning.
Nodding his head, Koko took a small version of parfait and started eating.
"Uh-huh. I passed by him right outside and had a small chat with him as we walked here. But then he got a phone call which seemed urgent and he told me that he needed to get back to the hospital right away. He asked me where the easiest spot to get a cab and I was like dude, come on, a cab? Why take a cab when you're here at the Manor right. I mean, who takes a cab here?! Does a cab even pass by here? I was like, come on-"
"KOKO!" Sakura snapped her fingers in front of his face to get his attention. "Get back to Little Muye!"
"Oh right. So then I handed him my car keys and so yea, he drove off immediately."
"Never do that again when I am involved in the conversation. Understand?" Fujitaka massaged his temple. These kids. Where did they learn to speak like this?
"Sorry Uncle. Hehe. Anyway, he did say he will try to be back within two hours and I guess he'll be arriving soon."
"Yokatta~~~ I was worried about him since he doesn't have a car and he rarely asks anyone for a favor. I doubt that he will borrow a car even if you tell him there's no way a cab passes by here."
"You got it right Saku. He actually rejected my offer but I told him I'll punch him right then and there if he dares to embarrass me and so yea, he took my keys. HEY SAKU THAT HURTS!"
Koko gritted his teeth as he rubbed his reddened forehead where Sakura just slapped him hard.
"Try to threaten my little Blondie again and I swear I'll hit you much harder."
"Oh are you talking about your doctor cousin?"
Kitsuneme suddenly appeared from behind Koko as he took a bowl of fresh lemon sorbet from the table.
"Yea. Let me call Uncle Xu to tell him to call me the moment Little Muye arrives."
After finishing her call, Kitsu piped up.
"I hear something about your cousin, Saku."
"What is it?"
"He knows that Su lady."
Koko widened his eyes and rubbed his chin with his finger. "Hmmmm...is that so?"
Fujitaka threw a confused look at Kitsuneme.
"So?"
"Haha, Uncle! This means a lot you know. First of all, can your cousin really be trusted?"
"Hell yes." Sakura yelled at Kitsuneme in frustration.
What does this fart mean?!
"You sure, sweetheart?~~~~ F**** OUCH MAN!"
Kitsuneme almost cried when suddenly got kicked in the ass and was thrown forward, almost turning the dessert table over if it wasn't for his good agility.
"Who's your sweetheart?" Syaoran pulled Sakura towards him and held her by the waist.
Smiling up at her tall husband, Sakura gave him a quick peck on the chin.
"How's Xiao Bao?"
"Still asleep. I've sent San and Yon to accompany Ichi and Nii in guarding Xiao Bao's room. Go and Roku are on patrol outside the East wing to make sure nobody suspicious loiters around.
"Why?"
Fujitaka is quite surprised at Syaoran. This is the Manor. Who would dare mess around here?
With the Black Diamond men and the Wolves in the vicinity, can anyone hide from the high security?
"I did not think of doing this initially Dad, but I got a call from Little Muye." Syaoran tilted his head a little towards Kitsuneme. "He said that when he and Koko were walking by the entrance way, he caught sight of two female servants who looked somehow familiar to him. He couldn't get rid of the weird feeling so he made an excuse to leave for the hospital right away."
"And then what happened?" Fujitaka prompted.
Tightening his hold on Sakura, Syaoran continued.
"Little Muye then went to the Su clan's main house and pretended to look for that dirt of a woman who was actually his childhood friend. As soon as he was inside the house, he nonchalantly browsed through some photos in that woman's seating area and then he finally realized why he thought the two servants we have here seemed familiar."
"Why?" Sakura tugged on his sleeve.
"One was a younger sibling of that woman's personal servant at her home while the other woman he is still yet to confirm. But he was sure that he had seen her some time either in the Su old house or in the Su company."
"Do you know what they looked like?"
Kissing the top of her head, Syaoran nodded.
"Your cousin is smart. While talking with Koko, he secretly took a photo of the two who were quickly trying to leave the entrance hallway. He said they looked surprised when they saw him which actually made him think deeper why they would react that way towards him."
"Was the photo clear though?"
"It wasn't but he knew we have the technology to fix it so I forwarded it to Tono. Right now, he and Mochu are discussing how to keep them under strict surveillance without arousing suspicion."
Koko punched his right fist to his left palm angrily.
"What?! We will just let them roam freely? Then whatever is happening here will be immediately known to the Sus. Dude, those Sus are not as simple as they appear to be."
Fujitaka smiled at his nephew and patted his shoulder.
"Calm down boy. Of course we all know the Sus and the Hebi of the underground are the same. But you know that we do need to know first what they are up to before we end their trail."
Fujitaka then repositioned his eyeglasses on his nose bridge.
"And do you really think they can release any information outside that we don't allow them to?"
Kitsuneme scoffed.
"If the Hebis think they can f**k us over, ah, then don't blame us if we go on some wild fun spree and kill off their whole clan."
