Harry stood at the wall. He stared out at the dance floor of the Ministry ballroom. All of the witches wore extravagant dresses while the wizards were in their formal robes.
He saw Ginny and Dean dancing, a bright smile lit her face like the sun.
He saw Ron glaring at the couple, watching Dean suspiciously to make sure he didn't go too far with his little sister. Typical Ron. Ginny was 22 years old. She didn't need protection, especially from her devoted fiancée.
Hermione had her own arms crossed over her chest, glaring at Ron since he was so busy ignoring her in favor of being an overprotective brother.
Harry sighed. If Ron didn't get his head out of his arse soon, he would find himself sleeping on the couch in the foreseeable future.
He blinked when his vision suddenly became filled with Lucius Malfoy. "Don't blindside me like that," he grumbled.
"Blindside? I don't get it," Lucius said, furrowing his eyebrows and tilting his head slightly.
"Muggle term. It means you took me by surprise."
"Why must you use such uncouth Muggle terms?" Lucius complained.
"I was raised in the Muggle world."
"And how happy was that upbringing?" Lucius countered.
Harry didn't have an answer for that.
"I thought so," Lucius smugly gloated.
"Don't be a bastard," Harry reprimanded.
"You like me as a bastard," Lucius returned.
"I tolerate you as a bastard; there's a difference," Harry retorted.
Lucius stepped closer, pressing his fingers against Harry's chest, sliding them down and than wrapping his arm around Harry's back, pulling him so their bodies were flushed together. "Just tolerate? Are you sure about that?"
Harry's breath hitched in his throat. "Maybe more than tolerate," he conceded. He slid his arms around Lucius' neck and pulled his head down so their lips met.
Lucius softly returned the kiss, but broke away to ask, "You want to dance?"
"I want to escape."
"Kingsley would never forgive you if you left this early."
Harry sighed. "I know. But I don't want to dance. I want to stay here and hide."
Lucius leaned against the wall next to him. "Okay, we'll hide together then."
Harry smiled.
