Two Scorpions

Camus couldn't believe his eyes. This whole fight was just like a dream. No, like a nightmare. Two beasts on the arena jumped to the throat of each other, causing the shower of blood tainting the dusty ground and what worse, one of these monsters was his Milo. Actually no, it was wrong as well. He could see one Saint of the Scorpio and beast. Kardia and monster. Kardia and… Milo.

When he and Degel finally reached the arena where the fight was going to have the place, two Scorpio Saints were already preparing to attack. Both of them were standing at the different edges of the arena, watching carefully the opponent and searching for any weak point. Camus could sense the trembling air around them that could be felt even on the tribune; everyone was excited at this upcoming fight of two dangerous Scorpions.

"I still can't believe they are doing this…" he murmured to Degel, sighing deeply. "How this fight could convince Kardia?"

"Don't worry, Camus. It is not like they would kill each other. I know that Kardia will fight to the fullest, but he know limits. He won't kill. And in this fight he will see Milo's skills and his determination. And everything. I'm not sure how Milo fights in the future, but Kardia is a good observer, especially while fighting," answered Degel, and watching his friend on the arena he sat down. Fortunately yesterday he cooled down Kardia's heart a little, so maybe later he wouldn't have any problems with it.

"But what if one will kill the other? It is a little dangerous in our situation," murmured the future Gold Saint, sitting down on the stony bench.

"I see you are not the fighting type," smiled Degel, looking at his descendant. "Just like me. If the fight isn't necessary I would be glad to stay away from it. After all everything could be able to be ended with talk. Even the Holy War could be ended like that, of course if Hades would show desire to pacts."

"Then how could you be Kardia's friend? He seems to love fighting," asked Camus, watching carefully the green haired man with his face.

"And how can you be lover with Milo? He seems to love fights as well," answered Degel, returning the look and smiling warmly.

Camus sighed, watching carefully his lover, who seemed to have strange smile on his face.

"Oh, I'm still not sure about this. Yes, Milo loves to fight, but much less than Kardia… But…" the future Gold Saint hesitated.

"What's wrong?" asked Degel, noticing worry on his companion's face.

"Milo told me a few times that sometimes in a fight he changes. That nothing more than killing his opponent has the matter. That he won't stop until his enemy is lying at his feet, dead. I never saw this, so I'm not sure if it is true, but every time we are fighting I'm a little afraid that it could happen."

"And you are afraid that it would happen now? That Milo would kill Kardia?" whispered Degel, looking as the two Scorpions finally begun their fight. It was quick, firstly Milo stroke but the moment after he was trapped in Kardia's hug, with long and sharp Needle on his throat. The Aquarius Saint was sure that only a few eyes on this arena were able notice the whole thing.

"Yes, a little. I'm not sure if we would be able to stop Milo. I don't know what could happen. And if Kardia would die here, now…"

"Really, don't worry Camus. I'm sure everything will be fine," answered Degel, watching as his friend allowed Milo to stroke him.

"Did he…?" Camus couldn't believe his eyes. Kardia evidently allowed Milo to hit him with his Scarlet Needle.

"Yes, Kardia is doing it every time sparring with someone he is considering as a real opponent. Allowing to be hit. To see the strength of the enemy. Now I think the real fight will start finally. For now they were doing only observing each other as far as I can see."

Yes, Camus could say that too. For now neither Kardia nor Milo used their real strength. And Camus hoped they wouldn't fight to the fullest, that they will keep their power under perfect control.

The next moment he saw Kardia's attack. It was fast, faster that he expected. He wasn't sure if even Milo could move around with that speed.

But it was the time, when everything changed. Camus was watching as the expression on Milo's face changed. The smile turned into the smirk of the predator, of someone who wanted to kill. The eyes were looking at Kardia rapaciously, watching carefully every single move of the current Scorpio. The Aquarius was surprised so much, that for a while he wasn't able to think. Who was that…?

The Scorpio Kardia moved only a little, just a few millimeters to take the position for the next attack, but he wasn't able to do anything. The monster in front of him disappeared and started to attack furiously form various places. Both of them, Camus and Degel had no chance of following Milo's strikes. Even Kardia seemed to be lost for a while, surprised by this sudden change.

"I think… I think it is exactly what Milo was talking about…" murmured Degel, frozen, really frozen.

Camus couldn't even say a single word. His throat was dry, his muscles frozen. He didn't know what to do, how to think about it. He wasn't expecting something like this. Yes, Milo told him about the beast sleeping inside him, but it wasn't something Camus expected to see. Not such a murderous… monster.

But it seemed that after the first, short shock, Kardia came to his senses and started to attack himself. He started to dance with Milo on the arena, moving around in the red flash of their strikes. Everyone could see the blood, staining the dusty ground, but only a few of the observers were able to follow mostly everything occurring at the arena.

"Oh Goddess, I never expected something like that…" murmured Camus. "Tell me, Degel. Is it a dream?"

"Sorry, Camus, but unfortunately it is the reality. They are both lost in this fight," answered Degel, watching as his friend was receiving one hit after another, but in return sending his most painful attack, Katakeo. He knew that if it would go further like that both of them, Kardia and Milo would lose their lives. "I think it is the best time to stop them."

And without even waiting any longer, Camus and Degel rushed quickly from their places, hoping that this fight could be finished now. However, Camus was a little afraid, that there could be no way of stopping Milo. Yes, both of them, Kardia and Milo were fighting to the fullest, but it seemed that Kardia was doing it with his whole consciousness, while Milo just gave up to his instinct. How it could happen? How they could let this happen? How Milo… How Milo could let something so horrible to have the place here?

He appeared in the middle of the arena, quickly taking a look at Degel, who rushed against Kardia. After a while aquamarine haired man looked at his lover, who was preparing the next attack, who knew it was Antares, the final attack of the Scorpio Saint. Camus took a deep breathe, summoning all his coldness to his eyes, hoping that this would calm Milo.

"Diamond Dust!"

His own attack flew over his lover, who still didn't notice the presence of the future Aquarius Saint.

"Enough," Camus added with the most cold tone he had.

Milo took the direct hit and fell over a few meters away from the position he was standing moment before. The furious, blue eyes, which usually were full of life and energy, full of hope and happiness looked at Camus with intend to kill.

"Enough, Milo," Camus repeated, watching as his lover hesitated. Slowly, the old, calm self of the Scorpio seemed to return. The Aquarius took a look at the other side of the arena, where Degel was arguing with Kardia. The wild man of these times was in really bad shapes, the blood was coming out of his body really quickly; he had pale face and was breathing really hardly. Camus could see thirteen, small holes of the Scarlet Needle.

Milo wasn't in better shape. He had many wounds too; the blood was coming out of his body more and more.

"Ugh, it hurts…" he murmured, massaging his head, and watching over his wounded body.

"You deserved that," answered quietly Camus, hitting the certain spot Milo showed him years ago, and stopping his blood flow.

With a loud moan Milo lay down on the dusty ground, closing his eyes and still grimacing from the pain.

"It is like my blood is boiling…" Milo whispered, trying to hold his moan. At the other side of the arena Kardia had the same expression of pain.

"Idiots…" sighed Camus, shaking his head with disbelief.

Milo opened his eyes, feeling like this awful, burning pain returned to him. He moaned, trying to move his hand a little. Ugh, what was with that attack? Why did it hurt so much? It was less painful than on the arena, but still he felt like his blood was about to boil. He never expected Kardia's Needle to be like that.

His vision got covered by the cascade of the aquamarine hair and two dark, blue eyes of his lover.

"How do you feel, Milo?" asked Camus, observing him carefully.

Milo blinked a few times and sat at the bed. He couldn't remember how he got to their small hut at the border of the Sanctuary.

"How I…?" he tried to ask but the voice stopped. He had so dried throat he couldn't even talk.

Camus sighed and gave him glass with the water. The Scorpio swallowed everything in one sip.

"You fell asleep…" murmured Camus, still couldn't believe what he saw at the arena.

Milo nodded. Yes, it was always like that. After his "change", he was always sleeping pretty much. He could remember very well everything what happened on the arena, he remembered every drop of the blood, every breath and scream of the opponent. But why he changed? He wasn't fighting with someone he didn't want to kill, but had to. His instinct never had taken control over his body in matches with his companions… So why? Was it because of the pain? Actually he never felt this kind of pain, so was it possible that his instinct took control just to protect?

"How do you feel?" Milo heard again voice of Camus.

He shook his head, to return to the reality.

"It still hurts…" he answered, feeling the fire inside his body.

"Degel is saying it will disappear soon," murmured Camus with strangely cold voice.

"Good. This burning feeling is awful," said the blue haired man, stretching his hand and wanting to touch Camus' cheek. He wanted kiss him, feel these cold lips on his own, the cool skin, comforting his hot body.

But the first moment his hand was a few millimeters of the soft cheek of the Aquarius, Camus moved away a little, but really firmly, giving Milo the sign he didn't want to be touched.

"Camus…?"

For a while the aquamarine haired Saint didn't answer. He was only looking at Milo with unreadable eyes, still thinking about the fight.

"I just…" Camus started after a while." I just still can't believe what I witnessed…"

"What do you mean, Camus?"

"You changed, Milo. You turned into a monster, I couldn't recognize my lover."

"I have told you many times that time to time I change in my battles," said Milo with a surprised voice. Was Camus disgusted right now? Why? It wasn't changing anything in their relationship, right?

"But I didn't expect that! Milo, you were a different person! You weren't Milo!"

Milo sighed shortly.

"Camus, I can't control it. It is just pure instinct. I told you before already."

Camus snorted coldly.

"Yes, you have told me this before. But you also told me that this 'instinct' is taking control only in battles you don't want to have, when you have to kill someone you don't want to kill. When it is painful for you to fight. So? What was that today?"

"I don't know. It never happened before."

"Ugh, maybe you wanted to kill Kardia, huh?"

"Camus, what are you saying?" Milo couldn't believe these words. Why Camus came to this conclusion?

"Or you wanted to improve something? That you are stronger? More powerful?"

"Camus, stop that! I didn't want to prove anything. I didn't want to kill Kardia! What for I would want to kill him anyway?!" he couldn't stop himself from raising his voice. Camus' words were painful for him, he never expected that his lover could say something like that, to be so angry at him about this change. He… he expected Camus to be more understanding…

"You almost did it! If I wouldn't stop you, you surely would kill him! Milo, you were completely out of control!"

"I have told you I can't control it! It just happens! I don't know why I changed this time! Maybe because of this pain!" Frustration was spreading around his mind with every word. Ugh, he was so disappointed about Camus! Why he couldn't understand so simple thing?

"Ugh, it is pathetic, Milo! Couldn't you think over a better explanation? Or your brain doesn't work as it should?"

Milo gasped on these words. What was happening with his Camus? It was like the Aquarius changed into a different person as well.

"Can't you understand that if you would kill Kardia even in that match, it could change our times? I told you already that we can't change anything there."

Milo growled.

"No, I can't! My brain isn't working properly! I'm just too stupid to understand these things!"

The Scorpio could see Camus' cold expression and the anger inside these blue eyes.

"Milo, you are not the same person I fell in love years ago..." Camus muttered coldly.

"Yes, you too, Camus. It is not only me who is changing," Milo cut the talk, lay down on the bed and turned away, covering himself with the blanket. He only heard the steps and the crack of the closed doors, when Camus left the hut. "Shit!" he murmured into the pillow, feeling the tears of frustration filling his eyes. What was happening? They were here only one day and yet, they acted like they never loved each other. They should be together, supporting themselves in such an awful time for them, not arguing like kids. Was it like being far away from the XX century they started to be far away from each other too? Why? Why everything was so awful and complicated? Why Camus couldn't accept these facts about his instinct? Milo really didn't want to hurt Kardia. He was aware what consequences it could have for them. So Camus didn't have to be like that.

Why? Did it mean Camus' love disappeared? Stayed in the XX century? Did Camus still love him?
