Wonderful life of the XVIII century
Even if it was only two hounded years, Camus never thought the XVIII century could be so interesting. The Gold Saints had so many amazing things to say, to learn him. Their life's view was so different than the view of his fellows from the future Sanctuary. It couldn't be even compared. Maybe they were the same souls, but just like he and Degel were pretty different, the others were as well. He couldn't just believe, when he saw how friendly they were. His fellows, even after so many years after Holy War were still pretty uncomforted with each other. Maybe it wasn't visible so much like before the rebel over the Sanctuary and Saga's betrayal, but still Camus could see how disconnected their 'family' was. Here Camus could see the harmony between them, something his times and his Sanctuary lacked. Except Pisces Alabfica, that all the time tried to be distant from them all, everyone else seemed to have some really brotherly bonds with each other. They had respect to each other, Lady Athena was like friend for them, even Pope Sage was far different than Pope Shion. He still felt surprised how much this young girl named Sasha was kind to them, how much she was helping them, trying to learn about their souls and lives. Saori, the future reincarnation of Athena had her own way of doing everything. Yes, she was meeting them regularly, in the Pope Chamber, but the only person having matter for her was Seiya. She had no idea about her Saint's lives, that Milo and Camus were couple, that Saga and Kanon hated summer, or that Mu was addicted to sweets. For her, they were only Warriors. Nothing more. But Lady Sasha… She talked with them all the time, Camus could see her many times among her Saints, learning about them and from them, giving her advices to everyone and caring about her warriors. Something unbelievable.
Of course it wasn't like Camus was only getting the information from them. He talked a lot with every Saint he found interesting and of course he was telling about their times as well. The Gold Saints were mostly interested about their successors, and it gave him a hard time talking stories about the future warriors of the golden zodiac in the way to not reveal too many dangerous information, but the Aquarius tried his best to do that. He could see how much some of them wanted to know how the next generation of Saints would be, how they fought with Hades, what they liked, what they hated. It was nice for Camus as well to talk about his fellows; even if he never felt like a real friend for them, he still missed their presence.
But even if the Saints he was meeting were really different from his fellows, he could see many similarities in them. Albafica had face as pretty as Aphrodite, even if their personalities couldn't match. El Cid was loyal as much as his descendant, and Sisyphus had kind soul, loving his family, that Camus couldn't stop to be amazed. But the one most similar to the future Gold Saint was Aspros. Well, Camus never met the Gemini Saint, because it passed already a few months from the evening when this young, reliable Saint turned into the evil one, trying to rule the Sanctuary, but he heard already a few things about him. And only about hearing these things he knew Aspros was almost like Saga. Beside, the Gemini Temple spread the same aura, even if its owner was dead already.
Of course Camus knew about Defteros as well. There were no records about him, after all he was the twin of the Gemini Saint. So, just like Kanon before Saga sentenced him to death in Cape Sounion, he couldn't exist in the Sanctuary. He was nameless, he was shadow. He was the second. But firstly, the Gemini Saint couldn't be without his twin, secondly Pope Shion talked with them a lot about the times when he wear his Gold Cloth, and he told them about that poor soul that was forced by his brother to assassinate Pope Sage. Even having big part in this Holy War, he wasn't mentioned. There were only a few notes about the monster on Kanon Island. Nothing more. Who would be able to link Defteros with that island?
Anyway, Camus was taking everything from this new life – everything he could. He had given a lot of information about his times, but was absorbing every new thing. It was really like a big adventure for his mind, especially Degel's library was just the land of his dreams. He still didn't have the chance of visiting the Pope's one, he had too much to read in the library of the Aquarius Temple, but he hope some day he would be able to enter the library of the Patriarch.
The XVIII century was like a paradise for him, full of new things, new experiences and new people. But in this paradise he was completely alone. Milo, his lover didn't share such an excitement with Camus. It wasn't like Milo hated to be here, he had no fun or wasn't excited at all. But comparing to the happiness of Camus, he could be seen as a little bored with these new places. But he loved the new Sanctuary; he wanted to learn their life without any advanced technology; it was very interesting to meet so many people. It was amazing for him as well, learning how to survive in a different way than in the future Sanctuary, seeing so many strange things, watching the Saints from these times. He felt really wonderful, like he entered a different world, even if truly the Holy Land didn't change so much for these two hundred years. Camus, Milo and their fellows lived almost the same, they had to hunt to survive, they had to train, live just like in the ancient times. Here it wasn't different. If Milo wanted to eat, he had to hunt down some animal, if he wanted to drink clear water he had to go and bring it from the river. But everything was made…. Strangely. The aura over the Sanctuary wasn't the same. It was new, it was fresh and ancient. Saints were talking in a little different language, their activities looked differently, trainings looked differently. It was really fascinating, Milo could agree. Especially now, when the real Athena – Saori was ruling over the Holy Land and tried to make their lives easier with her money. It was like returning back to the times before the Holy War in XX century. When they were young, when they didn't know what money meant.
Milo was really glad to see such a wonderful life but…
But the truth was that he would like to share his new experiences with Camus. And it was something really impossible, since the Aquarius tried to do everything almost at the same time. Milo wasn't in such a rush, but his lover wanted to be everywhere doing everything. Right now the French had no time for his beloved Milo and it was making the Scorpio really sad. He couldn't remember when the last time he and Camus made sex. It was at the beginning of their adventure here, but the most Camus was swallowed by this new live, the less they were bonded.
Milo could feel it. It was like they were loosing their strong bond here, like they were away from each other in the state like never before. The passion in their relationship was fading slowly; their kisses were cold, without any emotion, because Camus' thoughts were far, far away from them. It was frustrating and the Scorpio had no idea what he should do to change it.
And there was something else. Since Camus sunk into this new life he was much colder for Milo. Every time Milo wanted to kiss him or even talk with him like the old days, the Aquarius was making an expression of very busy and impatient man, who had no time for such silliness. There was always: 'Milo, I don't have any time for something like this; Milo I wanna read this book, come later; stop acting like a child, I'm busy.'
It hurt, really hurt Milo. Even if he knew Camus still loved him, he felt it wasn't the truth. He felt like Camus didn't love him anymore, swallowed be this new situation they fell into. And really, sometimes Camus was treating him like a child, who couldn't understand this amazedness of the Sanctuary from XVIII century. Like Milo wasn't intelligent enough to comprehend such a different world and accommodate to it. Like Milo was too stupid to read these wonderful books lost in the next two centuries. The Aquarius wasn't doing this in the purpose, or it really didn't seem like that. It looked as if Camus behaved like that purely unconsciousness.
But it couldn't change the act Milo felt hurt. He couldn't understand why Camus behaved such heartlessly. Even Degel noticed this. The current Aquarius Saint was compassionate enough to be worried about Milo, and he was showing it every time he could. Kardia felt as well this change between their guests, but the wild Scorpio hid the worry perfectly, just to look like he didn't care about this so much. However Kardia had some compassion too and was often making jokes, sick jokes about Camus just to relieve tension.
Degel offered Milo his help in talks with Camus, but Milo refused. It was something he had to take care of, not to rely on others. It was nice, that the Aquarius felt worried so much, but the Scorpio wanted to talk with Camus face to face, without any witnesses. It was problem in their relationship; there was no need to involve someone else. Unfortunately Milo didn't manage to talk with his lover even once. Camus had no time for his lover, well, not much enough to talk sincerely. He always was avoiding their conversations, excusing himself with many things he had to do, and many, many books to read.
Milo was already tired with his lover. Camus never even tried to talk with him, completely lost in these books he was swallowing every day. Milo felt like he lost his lover forever, like their love stayed in XX century. It was so awful, that Milo felt sick about that. He couldn't do anything if Camus had no willingness of talking with him, and because future Saint of Athena didn't see any problem, Milo was sure he would wait forever.
But this day Milo wanted to give another try. He really wanted to talk with his lover, show him how much they were far away from each other, that Camus should spend some of his time with him. The Scorpio was tired of this new life he couldn't share with Camus and he knew that if it would last any longer, he would go crazy.
So this day he followed the slightly burning cosmo of his lover, walking through the Temples of the Sanctuary and finally finding Camus between the bookstands of Degel's library. The French was reading really old book, supporting himself with no less fatigued notes with translated words. The light breeze, coming from nearby window was stroking the aquamarine strands Milo loved pretty much, the dark eyes were focused on the text and the slim fingers were moving from the book to the notes and back with the sequence of machine.
Milo watched for a few minutes the silhouette of his lover in silence, admiring these hairs, eyes, long lashes and muscular but slim body. But after this time he sighed quietly, ready to talk. If he would go away, didn't try to do something, then he could lost this view for the rest of his life.
"Camus…" he started quietly. The Aquarius looked at him quickly and returned to reading. "Camus, we had to talk. We need to talk."
For a while the French didn't move. Then, after almost minute he turned the page of the book, looked at Milo again and said:
"Not now, Milo. I'm busy."
The Scorpio sighed disappointed, even if he expected this answer.
"Then when, huh? Next year? In the next millennium? You are always busy, Camus, and you don't have time to talk with me."
The dark eyes moved from the book to the face of the Scorpio.
"Milo, I don't have time right now. We will talk later, but now just try to understand that I have something important to do. I would like to read this book till tomorrow."
Milo snorted ironically.
"And then? How many books you wanna read next? Before you will find some time for me, huh? You are ignoring me, Camus!"
Camus frowned strongly.
"Why do you think I'm ignoring you, Milo? You are my lover, I would never even dare to ignore you. I just don't have time today. Whatever it is you want to talk with me about, it has to wait a little," answered the French, smiling slightly, just like Milo loved.
"But Camus, it is important!"
Camus sighed.
"Milo, of course it is important. You would never bother me with meaningless things. But I have to finish this book quickly; Pope Sage lent me it for a while. I think you just have too much free time, and you think I'm ignoring you so much. Go train with someone; go for a walk, or something. Or read a book, even if my hopes are really naïve." With these words Camus stood up, took the book and the notes, kissed quickly Milo's lips while passing him and left the library.
Milo sighed really deeply. He was so disappointed. Even if he expected Camus to avoid him again, he hoped this time he would succeed. But again Camus slipped from his gasp and disappeared somewhere, with his darn book.
He gasped strongly his fists and hit the table, almost breaking it.
"Shit!" he cursed loudly. He was loosing his Camus faster and faster, and it seemed there was nothing he could do.
"Milo…?" he heard hesitant voice. He looked at the door and saw Degel, looking at him with worry. "What are you doing here? I didn't notice you coming…"
The Scorpio frowned.
"I just… wanted to talk with Camus, but he just left, saying he has something important to do," Milo murmured sadly.
This time Degel frowned as well. He knew this man for a few long weeks already and he was sure this sad look didn't suit him. At the beginning Milo was full of life and energy, he was illuminating everything around with his presence, and all problems were disappearing under the happy look of the bright, blue eyes. But now, with every day Milo was loosing this energy, left by his lover.
"Something happened?" he asked, wanting to help.
Milo twitched a little.
"No, don't worry. Thank you for your concern, but there is nothing you could do," murmured the blue-haired man, reading the intentions of the Aquarius. Well, it would be a little strange to talk about his problems with someone who looked almost exactly like Camus…
Degel sighed.
"I know it maybe doesn't mean anything for you, but if you want to talk with someone about it, don't be shy, Milo. I'm sure that this whole situation about being brought to the old Sanctuary is really difficult, but I would be glad to help you, Milo. You can count on me."
Milo smiled, preparing himself to leave.
"Thank you very much, Degel. I will keep that in my mind," he whispered.
"You can talk with me about Camus too," Degel added. He knew very well, why Milo looked so sad. It was clear for the Aquarius, Camus behaved pretty openly. "I know it would be strange for you to talk with someone who looks like your lover, but I could help, since we are the same soul, Milo…"
Milo smiled wider. How much Degel was different from Camus! He could see it clearly. This compassion for others, maybe covered with a little cool behavior, but Milo could feel it inside the current Aquarius. This reserved kindness for others, desire to help, to teach and to talk. It was way different that Camus. Degel seemed to be warmer in feelings, and it was something Milo couldn't comprehend. How the same soul could be so different in two different bodies?
"Thank you, Degel," he whispered and left. He wanted to talk right now, because he felt really lonely. But he also knew it could end pretty badly, if he would take this chance. Degel was… Degel was someone Milo wanted Camus to be. More passionate. More warm… He loved Camus the way he was, of course, there was no doubt. But there were some things Milo hated in his lover and he couldn't see these awful things in Degel…
