Sailor Moon Independence Day
Seiya x Usagi
Seiya loved this night.
Why?
Because he was taking Usagi out to see fireworks.
It was summertime and the fireworks show was going to be a big one.
He always wanted to see them But since the others didn't want to go he asked Usagi as a friend.
"Sure thing." She said to him.
And so this night Usagi and him were happily going to see the fireworks.
"I haven't gone to one of these is forever. I was a little girl when I last saw them." Usagi said.
"Really? Being a sailor warrior and princess you remember that?" Seiya asked.
"I was reborn. So I grew up in a new life with my memories just...blocked." She explained.
"Well, now you get to see it with me." He said giving her his charming smile.
Usagi smiled but frowned on the inside. She missed Mamoru. He went to America and she hasn't heard back from him.
"Look. It's starting soon." Seiya said pointing at the sky.
Usagi looked up and watched the dark sky waiting for the colors to fill the air. But something else caught her attention. The stars. They looked different.
They seemed to be shining way more then usual.
Now that Usagi thought about it, it wasn't the 11th of February. So what was this whole fireworks thing about? No festival. What was Seiya planning?
Then the noise came.
At first, Usagi was scared, but Seiya laughed. Smiling like he was a kid.
"You know, in America, on the forth of July, they celebrate this day of Independence. Freedom they call it. From their history. I didn't look too much into it. But, I figured, since Mamoru was in America, you princess should be seeing what he's seeing." Seiya said.
Usagi was speechless. She watched the different colors go flying everywhere. It was like the stars in the sky were exploding.
"In my kingdom, we have colored stars that explode as a way to honor those we've lost and to rejoice on new beginnings." Seiya added.
"Why are you doing this?" Usagi asks.
Seiya smiles at her. "Because you miss him right? I miss my princess too. Figured we both can't be alone. So, watching this, these fireworks, is to not be alone. We have someone we miss. I just wanted us to miss them together." He said.
Usagi smiled. Even if it might not be the whole truth, she knows he's trying to help keep her in good spirits. "Thank you." She nods.
Seiya watches Usagi a moment while she smiles at the fireworks. Even if she's with someone else, that doesn't mean he can't spend time with her. Even if it might be in his head, he is happy just to be this close to her. He does have his own princess, but this one, was just as special.
Turning to the fireworks, Usagi and Seiya watched in silence just how pretty the night sky has become.
And maybe in another life, they could be something like these fireworks, explosive with color and spark.
The End
