Chapter 6 A Sweet defeat!
The cars of Sugar Rush were roaring up and raring the engine of each candy coated car. The
arcade gamers choose their valiant racers and dropped their quarters in one by one. Muppet
Girl always picked her favorite Vanellope von Schweetz, not only was she fast but she had a
really cool upgrade about her if you pressed the horn, she would speed right passed the
other racers. As the arcade announcer announced the racers chosen, Vanellope herd her name
and rejoiced! "YES!" "They know who the best is." She bragged to the other sweet
competitors rolling their eyes. Vanilla nervously looked at the rooster amazed, oh how she
longed to do something this cool and different in her game. Vanellope jumped quickly into
her car as she reached for her steering wheel she felt someone poke her shoulder. "Um...
Vanellope?" Vanilla fearful of the journey tried to get the older racers attention.
Groaning Vanellope looked back at the small girl in the back, picked her up and set her on
her lap. "You're starting to make a real mess of things kid." Vanellope dug into a small
glove compartment and pulled out a small helmet she never used and placed it on Vanilla's
head. "This hear helmet, stood up to all the boy racers football games it can stand up to
anything' now quiet down." Vanilla looked up at Vanellope but isn't my head in the way?"
Vanellope scoffs, "Yer'dern right but… she picks her up again placing her on a seat in the
back she straps the little child in tightly. "There now you're not." The young racer looked
around as the other "big kids" were getting all charged up. Vanilla's eyes got as big as
sand dollars, "Don't tell me you're about to race!" Vanellope narrowed her eyes pulling down
her pink googles "We're bout to race!" Vanilla swiftly panicked "But, but, what if they see
me?!" Vanellope held firmly on the steering wheel "Yer fine!" Vanilla spoke once more.
"What if I fall?!" The older girl hit her head on the wheel causing the horn to blow and
the others to jump! "What the gumdrops Vanellope!" shouted Candle Head outraged "Shut up!"
Said Jubileena "Trying to get in position heeeeere!" Vanellope winced "It wasn't My fault!"
She looked back and shook her fist at Vanilla "Look just hold on tight, you shut yer'yap!"
Vanilla sputtered terrified babbles "But I didn't?!" she began, suddenly the game's
announcer shouted "3… 2…1.." GO! And the cars were off totally distracted Vanellope's
eyes shot open as the cars sped past her and Vanilla leaving them in a cloud of sugary
dust. Vanellope and Vanilla cough, Vanilla shouts "They're beating you." She points out the
obvious and Vanellope's temper rises turning red Never in her life had she ever gotten
flipped around like a coin on the first round, she spun around and fixated her eyes on
Vanilla "Look you're really pushin' it!" "So shut your mouth before I shut it for ya!"
"Understand!" Vanilla froze up and she began to almost cry but Vanellope jabbed a fun dip
stick in her mouth! She jammed the pedal down and off they sped! Vanilla had never gone so
fast in her life she thought she was gonna loose her breakfast, Rancis steadfast in front
her had collected a power up and tried to drop syrup slick trap behind him but Vanellope
was too quick for him shifting her gears they dodged the gloop and caught up behind him.
Vanilla wriggled in the seat and dug her fingernails into the car's seating. Vanellope
drove alongside him smirking as she attempted to cut the pretty boy off! He looked in the
back of her car and lost his focus for a spilt second lost in Vanilla's hazel utterly
terrified eyes causing him to try to get a closer look he rammed into Vanellope's side
door. Flabbergasted Vanellope shouted at him "HEY!" "Watch it!" "You're scratching my
masterpiece!" Rancis shook his head and lost control rear ramming Swizzle Malarkey.
"Squirt!" "Tighten your seatbelt
every nut case is on the road today!" As they were vastly approaching the girl racers at
god speed Vanellope waved to Jubileena "Hey Jubs!" "So sleepovers at your place right this
weekend right?" Vanellope yelled across. Jubileena shrugs while driving her pie car "Um
whatever good for you boo." Vanilla frowned at Vanellope pulling the fun-dip stick free of
her mouth and shouted so small it was cute to the girl racers around "Is this really the
time to be talking about weekend plans!" The girl racers all awed except Taffyta who
wouldn't admit it, Vanellope huffed and feeling evil she spat into the air the salvia came
sky rocketing back hitting Vanilla square in her eye. "Ewww!" Vanilla cried in disgust.
Watching her through her rearview mirror Vanellope snickered at her once again girlish
reaction, Vanilla whined as the wind blew through her hair she wiped her eyes with her
sleeve and retrieved her own pink goggles from her sweatshirt pocket and forced them on.
"That wasn't very nice Vanellope!" She yelled Taffyta dead in front sneered in a loud
giggle "Oh Vanellope, having fun babysitting back there?" She teased, Snowanna not too far
from Candlehead had bonuses a cherry bomb saved in her power up shooter while all the other
racers focused on the high jump straight ahead Vanilla saw Snowanna consume it with her car
through her pink specks! Why was no one moving! Vanilla reached over and grabbed
Vanellope's hoodie "Vanellope!" "Get out of sight!" Vanellope was yanked and she almost
sped off into the murky water down below she pulls to an easier road missing the speed
boost to the bridge. Furious she shot back Vanilla at angry look "ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL
US!" Vanilla sunk back in the car hiding in her sweatshirt hood "No." She whimpered
Vanellope pulled to the speed boost close to Snowanna as she was but Vanilla yanked her
back again! Muppet Girl didn't know what to make of it every time she made Vanellope drive
straight a blue streak would force her another way. Vanellope pulled over to the sprinkle
cove, out of the camera view "Where'd she go announced her player astounded. Vanellope got
out of her car and pulled Vanilla out "I outta spank you!" "Are you determined to never
leave my room again?" As the racer's crossed over the drop in the air Vanellope did a
miniature whimper "oh that's it I'm Doomed!" "No one's ever gonna pick me again I'm
finished!" "And it's all your fault!" Vanilla looked up and saw Snowanna about to activate her
bomb Vanilla pointed up at the racer's in the confines of the cave skylight. "Vanellope!"
"Nevermind, you seeing me don't let the snow cone girl see you!" Vanellope looked up not
amused until BOOM! POW!" Half the girl racers were whipped off the track and falling over
the boundary line! "Sweet Mother of Monkey Milk!" Shouted Vanellope still holding Vanilla
amazed by the explosion Vanilla's eyes lit up "Green Tangerines!" said Vanilla "I knew it!"
"Yeah!" "Snap!" "Crackle, Pop!" "In your Face!" "Vanellope!" Vanellope looked down at her
and up again her eyes and mouth wide open "You.. You knew she had a bomb?" Vanilla smiled
"Yeah now get a move on!" "We have to catch up!" Vanellope gave her a small smile and
strapped her back in and slammed on the gears and they were up and away, meanwhile Taffyta
was muttering angrily to herself "Oh my god Minty Zaki get back here you're not supposed
to be this good!" She taps her fingers on her wheel losing her patients bored she couldn't
get over. Vanellope's car flew over the ditch without a single niff floating graciously
over Fudge River Vanilla pointed over Vanellope's shoulder "It's the power things!"
Vanellope started to smile and grab one "SWEET SEEKERS!" it announced "Ooooh a Good one!"
She brought the trigger to her shoulder aiming for Taffyta Vanilla began to get hysterical
and pushed it out of the way! "NO!" "You can't shoot a girl!" Vanellope pulled back trying
to aim it back "Hey!" BAM! Misfired the sweet seeker ran into Minty Zaki and Candlehead
causing the two to crash into the seeker and fly into Taffyta "Whoa!" they all shouted and
screamed still way ahead but surprised none the less. Vanellope looked at the speeding pile
up before her all of the sudden get spun around and headed in the opposite direction behind them "Um.. Well that happened?" she stuffed her shooter back into the back with
Vanilla "Rule number 7 kiddo Let me AIM!" Vanilla pointed "Look!" Vanellope couldn't
believe her eyes the Finnish line was coming and they had already been around the track two
times "This is it!" Vanellope shouted oh baby we're almost there!" Vanilla smiled then made
a face of confusion as a faint sound of screaming came over to the back of the car she sat
on her knees, peering over the back. There in the distance were the sweet seekers, with the
shish kabobs of girl racers screaming in fear coming straight at them! Muppet girl froze in
her midgame post victory "Hmmm that has never happened before?" "Hey you guys Sugar Rush is
getting so cool!" more and more kids crowded around the console watching her play. "But
don't worry I have Vanellope von Schweetz." "Come on Vanellope pull through." She prayed as
she tried to guide her out of harm's way. Vanilla spoke timidly "Um.. Vanellope!"
Vanellope was so focused on the finish line she mutters "Not now Vanilla!" Vanilla looked
behind them Taffyta saw they were about to ram them even with Vanellope's glitching she
wouldn't have enough power to glitch all the way there she braced herself for the impact
yelling "Your dead Glitch!" Vanellope heard but it was muffled Vanilla saw them get closer
and closer nightmarishly fast, She unbuckled herself climbing onto Vanellope's driving
front seat "Turn!" "Turn around!" Vanilla grabbed the wheel and Vanellope's temper broke
"Let go you little brat!" "I'm driving!" Vanilla grabbed it with all her might trying to
steer them into a safe distance "Vanellope pulled back harder, losing Vanilla saw her only
option left the joystick she clenched her small hand on it and latched on tightly,
Vanellope saw her action and freaked out "Vanilla no!" against her sisters wishes Vanilla
pulled the stick and jolted the car around so they were driving backwards Vanellope saw the
missile of racer heading straight for them her and Vanilla screamed right before the impact
both Vanellope and Vanilla glitched and in that moment their glitching intertwined causing
the sweet seeker to miss impact Vanellope's car lit up like a hyper drive turbo speed
racing demon in a flash of blue light Vanellope and Vanilla found themselves gently coming
to a complete stop safely on the other side of the Finnish line dust rose up behind them.
There was complete silence … Muppet girl's glasses fell off her face, "Awesome." She
shuddered. The kids of the arcade cheered with applause! In the racetrack right after the
silence and huge uproar of cheers and screams of victory came to Vanellope's ears, her eyes
opened slowly. She stared down at Vanilla, that was without a doubt the Biggest upgrade
speed boost she's ever had! Vanilla was covering her eyes and whimpering in Vanellope's
lap. Vanellope smiled the hugest smile down at her small sibling "Open yer'eyes Squirt We
won!" "I won!" Vanellope had not ever been so excited about a win in all her life this was
truly a race she would never forget. She didn't care if the cameras were on her she picked
up Vanilla and hugged her as tight as she could "Oh Vanilla we won!" Maybe the little
snicker bitter was good to have around after all. Vanilla looked at Vanellope "Gee I'm
sorry I ruined your race sis." Vanellope grinned and smirked "Ruined it!" "Come here you!"
She picked her up and put her on her shoulders "Miss clueless look who won!" Vanilla
peered at the score board afraid to look then she saw, giggling she looked down at
Vanellope. "Oh we did!" Vanellope held her arm up allowing her to fist bump "Top shelf
Squirt!" Vanilla's eyes shined as she returned the bump to her new sister "Top shelf." she
had never been so happy in her whole life did she finally find someone who loved her?
"Gimmie some." Said Vanilla, Vanellope yanked her off her shoulders and held her to her
chest "You deserve it sis." She hugged her as the confetti fell all around, over the rising
cheers of the arcade gamers in the background, Mr. Litwack did not have a clue but business
was booming today.
