Note: The following is a rough outline of what was to happen in this chapter. I apologise for not being able to write the full chapter as intended, however, life has proven hectic and along with my plans to start writing original stories, I don't have the time needed to finish all my stories. I didn't want to leave them abandoned, so I decided to give a rough outline of the story's events so that you could see how it would have progressed and ended. I hope that you understand. Maybe one day I might come back and fully finish them as intended, but as that's up in the air, I thought that I'd end things this way rather than leave unfinished. Thank you for your time.

Chapter V (Rough Outline)

Poe, Finn, Jess & Snap emerge from hyperspace, arriving at Kuat. It's a sprawling mass of cargo ships as thousands upon thousands of ships arrive and depart from the planet. After navigating their way through the docking stations scattered throughout the sky, they set their ship down into a ground-level bay.

Poe and Snap equip themselves, discreetly hiding their weapons as they leave the ship to find out more about what the First Order was transporting. They take C-3PO and BB-8 with them but ask Finn and Jess to stay and guard the ship. Finn is inches from speaking up but ultimately decides to hold his tongue, fearing that he would lose Poe's trust. Sensing that something is amiss with Finn, Poe gives him a comforting word of support and trust before leaving.

Making their way to a station, weaving through the heavily crowded streets, Poe manages to locate the worker who knew about the First Order ship and what they were secretly transporting. They corner the worker and escort him to a private room where they can question him. With C-3PO as a translator, the talk goes pleasantly enough, although the worker is hesitant with answering some of the tougher questions. His eyes scan the room as if he fears that the First Order is watching them at this very moment. Snap walks out of the room, wanting to do a more thorough inspection as Poe continues the interrogation. Suddenly, the worker throws something from his pocket. Poe gets himself and C-3PO to safety before the room explodes. While Poe avoids any fatal damage, the worker has rushed out into the streets.

Before the worker can fully escape, he is cut off by Snap, who was suspicious of the worker from the first question. He drags the worker into an alleyway and meets back up with Poe.

Back on the ship, Finn worries that he may never leave the shadow of the First Order, no matter what he does. Their mark is engraved in his very skin. Hoping to give him something to fight for, Jess shows him hologram recordings sent by someone who will help him to smile again.

Finn begins to watch the recordings and is shocked to find it is Rey, sending messages from the Millennium Falcon on the planet Ahch-To. Jess states that these messages were sent to the Resistance months ago when Rey first made contact with Luke. Finn watches the messages. The days that have passed for Rey are mere minutes for him.

The ex-scavenger talks about how she's been trying to convince Luke to return to help the Resistance, but he's refused with no detailed explanation as to why. Her frustration is becoming evident with each new recording. Finn notes a few bruises and cuts on her body that appear every day. Rey explains that while reluctant, Luke has been training her in the ways of the Force. Much to Finn's confusion, there is a point during the last few messages sent where he can see Rey has agreed with whatever Luke has told her because she says that she cannot return to the Resistance yet.

''I don't know when I'll be back with Master Luke,'' Rey's gaze lowers to the ground. ''I don't even know if I can. We need more time. I know that I'm failing my friends with every passing minute that I don't return. But…I just hope that this all works out in the end.''

Finn's brow furrows. He leans closer to the hologram, wishing he could be there for his dear friend.

Rey's smile returns briefly. ''I think this will be my last message for a while. Until then…Finn, if you're awake and watching this, I miss you. I'll see you again soon. I promise.''

The message ends, with Jess commenting that it has been weeks since they last heard anything from Rey. Even Leia cannot sense what is happening on Ahch-To, leaving Rey and Luke Skywalker's fates a mystery.

Despite this, Finn finds his smile again and thanks Jessika for showing him the recordings. Out of the corner of his eye, Finn looks outside of the ship's window and spots First Order troops heading towards the station, following the path that Poe and Snap took.
