Prologue:
It was a dark night. A girl ran as quickly as she could away from the monster chasing her. The green, hideous frog let out a loud maniac laughter as it reached out its fingers, attempting to touch the girl. Its huge eyes looked at her with rage and eagerness. She ran as fast as she could, but the monster caught her. Locked in its grip, she fought to get it off her, but it was no help. "Please," she whispered to the green frog monster, hoping it would show her mercy. It laughed, and its claw quickly came out of its fingers, slicing her. The monster looked as she fell onto the ground. Once she was down, the monster heard a rattling sound and ran away.
The girl with long, black hair laid lifelessly on the cold floor, as the tiny raindrops fell slowly from the sky. Taking a sharp breath in, she tried to grasp for air, but it did not fill her lungs. 'Help,' she thought to herself, trying to make any sounds she could. Still as a rock, she tried to reach out for someone, but her body did not move. She closed her eyes, and whispered to herself, "Sesshomaru."
A muscular, white-haired beast came down from the sky, landing on its feet. Turning back to his human form, he ran towards the girl laying on the ground. He knelt down, put his right hand on her shoulder, and rolled her onto her back. Sighing loudly, he cupped her face, "Rin."
He stood up and reached for the blade tucked neatly away in his belt. Taking out the blade, with one swift motion, he used it on Rin.
Rin opened her eyes and gasped loudly for air, taking in as much breaths as she could. She looked up at the man standing before her. Slowly, Rin grabbed onto his shirt and started crying loudly and profusely, "Sesshomaru, I am so sorry." She barely got the words out as her face soaked with tears.
Sesshomaru looked at her and nodded. He lifted her onto his shoulders, and gave her a stern look. "What did I say about running off without me?" He questioned her, but did not expect her to answer him. It was Rin after all. As she grew older, she kept exploring more, and he had no control of her. "You're no longer a child, Rin. You need to take care of yourself." Sesshomaru snapped at Rin.
She continued to cry. Suddenly, she perked up and looked around. Breathing quickly, Rin looked at Sesshomaru and whispered quietly, "Sesshomaru-sama, we have to go now. There is a monster, and it is very strong." She looked around some more, as she tugged onto his shirt urging him to get them out of there. "Please."
"Mind the frog monster no more. I have taken care of the situation." Sesshomaru replied. "Here." He put a fluffy wooled blanket around her to keep her warm. The rain had soaked her outfit, and Rin didn't realized that she was freezing.
"Let's go home." With that statement, Sesshomaru flew back to his castle with Rin.
