Hey guys, I'm back! Oh man am I excited! Spirit of Justice is out in Japan and I got some spoilers that make me really happy! But I won't say anything about that just in case. What I will say is that hearing Turnabout Sisters for this game makes me want to cry after going so long without it in a new game. Phoenix, Apollo and Athena's Objection themes are really cool and I'm so excited for this game! I really can't wait to see the possible Phoenix/Maya moments considering all that happens and read the text myself so I fully understand what this game implicates for Apollo. But enough of that, here's the latest chapter! Thanks to Ktap4321 (Yep! Jasmine will be in most of the cases of AAI and all of the cases of PP.), EmeraldWings1992 (I'm glad you're enjoying the story! And I only enjoy the Gramaryes because…Apollo! Those were two of my favorite moments to write so I'm glad you enjoyed! I don't know how he's a lawyer…its Nick remember? Disney was fun, though getting stuck in Kentucky, don't ask, wasn't. I hope you enjoy this first chapter!), iFireWolf (This isn't the first time I got a review like that for a story but I'm glad you like the idea and the story!), Dr. Angela Zieglar, SilverNeira, Dinosaur Imperial Soldier, Kanra-sanXD, KevinChan, Watergem90, SulliMike23 and SallyStar for reviewing/following/favoring along with all 13,740 readers! I hope you guys enjoy this chapter!
Darkness…a gunshot.
A scream.
"I am the culprit of the DL-6 Incident!"
Another gunshot.
"I heard voices arguing and a single gunshot…"
No, that's not true! There were two!
A snap.
A gavel coming down.
"I find the defendant, Miles Edgeworth…GUILTY!"
No…no he's not guilty! He's innocent, you have to believe me!
Darkness…
"You will testify tomorrow and declare Miles Edgeworth guilty of killing his father."
No…I can't do that!
"Then both Edgeworth and your precious brother's careers will be ruined and they will both be arrested for murder while you simply disappear."
Fear, icy cold fear.
Lies, easily slipping through her lips.
All eyes staring at her.
"Nick…help me."
"How can I, when you won't help me?"
I want to, you have to believe me! It's von Karma! He's the real killer, not Miles! Never Miles…
"I find the defendant, Miles Edgeworth…GUILTY!"
Why will no one listen? He's innocent, he didn't kill anyone!
"They won't believe you because you said he was guilty."
What?!
"You did this! You brought this upon yourself!"
"You will declare Miles Edgeworth guilty…"
"Miles…he did it…"
Shaking, the ground was shaking.
She was falling.
A scream that refused to stop.
No, no! Let me go!
"You will declare Miles Edgeworth guilty…"
"GUILTY!"
A gavel coming down.
The scream continues.
A snap pierces the air.
Electricity zaps through her body.
No! Stop it! No!
"You will declare Miles Edgeworth guilty…"
The scream.
Two gunshots.
A gavel.
NO!
"NOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Jasmine screamed as her eyes snapped open only to see her bedroom ceiling as she panted for air. Instantly, she sat up and ran her hands over her face, which was still clammy with cold sweat. "I-it was a-a d-dream…" She whispered, trying to calm herself down enough to get out of bed. It didn't work much so she simply stood up and stumbled her way over to the kitchen in her simple apartment.
Quickly, she opened a cabinet and took out a box of herbal tea bags. Moving to the table, she grabbed a simple tea cup and began to make a chamomile tea mix. As soon as the tea was ready, she took a deep breath of its aroma before she took a big gulp of it. Lowering it, she gasped as she finally became aware that it was all a nightmare and she was safe, Miles was safe and von Karma was behind bars.
"Get a hold of yourself." Jasmine whispered to herself as she took another drink of the herbal tea, allowing its aroma and taste to relax her as well as overwhelm her senses.
It's been two months since Miles' trial. Since then, I've suffered awful nightmares. I scared Nick the first time I had one, the night of the day Maya left, and we were spending it at the office, don't ask why. He took me to a therapist when I started coming to the office exhausted and I've been diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Because of that, I've avoided the court at all costs, I don't want to test how bad my PTSD actually is. I've been using several different types of herbal tea to calm down after every nightmare but they won't go away. I'm terrified they never will.

Wright and Co. Law Offices
The Wright twins walked into the office silent, Phoenix holding his bag and Jasmine holding another cup of herbal tea. Phoenix observed his sister, noting the dark bags under her eyes that only seemed to get worse with every day that passes.
"There you are! Finally!" A voice said and both twins looked up to see a teenage girl with long brown hair and teal eyes glaring at them with her hand on her hip. "Where have you been!? My sister's trial is tomorrow!"
"…Um…who are you?" Phoenix asked. The older twin waited for the smack to the back of his head that always accompanied his blunt way of speaking. It didn't come, causing him to look at his sister and notice the haunted look in her eyes not for the first time. That trial…it's almost like it robbed me of my sister.
"It doesn't matter who I am!" The girl cried. "It only matters who YOU are! You're the famous defense attorney, Mia Fey!" As she yelled, the girl looked at Jasmine. The haunted look faded for a second as the aide stared at the girl in surprise for a minute.
"I'm sorry, I'm not Mia. She…no longer works here." Jasmine answered softly as she took a slow sip of her tea, the haunted look blooming once again within her deep blue eyes.
"So you are…? The coffee boy?" The girl guessed as she studied Phoenix. That coaxed a small laugh out of Jasmine as Phoenix looked from the girl to his sister and back.
"I'm Phoenix Wright…a defense attorney. And this is my sister, Jasmine Wright, she's a legal aide." Phoenix answered, giving the girl a small smile. That was the first laugh he heard from Jasmine in two months. The girl pulled out a notebook, lowered her pink glasses and began to write furiously in it.
"Wright…Wright…Wait!" The girl said as she wrote before she looked up, eyes wide as she stared at the twins. "You're THE Phoenix and Jasmine Wright!? The Phoenix and Jasmine Wright from the Edgeworth murder trial!?"As soon as the words left the girl's lips, Jasmine raised her tea cup up and took a deep breath of herbal tea before she took a long drink of it as the haunted gleam in her eyes increased.
A scream that pierced her soul…
No! Stop it Jazz! She thought to herself as she took another long drink, trying to push the flashbacks away.
"Um, yes, that's correct." Phoenix nodded, the look in his eyes becoming sad as he watched Jasmine out of the corner of his eye. He reached a hand out and squeezed her arm.
"That's a relief then! You're better than nobody!" The girl grinned brightly.
"I'm sorry…I'm afraid I'm not taking cases right now." Phoenix apologized.
"But, you are Phoenix Wright, right?" The girl asked, the look in her eyes becoming slightly more panicked. "The undefeated defense attorney?"
"Look, I'm not accepting any new cases." Phoenix said, "I'm sorry, but you'll have to try elsewhere."
"Please!" The girl cried as she ran forward and grabbed Phoenix's arms, bringing her face close to his as the panic in her eyes became greater. "I'm out of time!" The panic ebbed away, replaced with sadness.
"But…" Phoenix started to protest.
"Please, you have to help!" The girl begged, "I-it's my sister!" Phoenix's eyes widened as Jasmine's head shot up to look at the girl. Instantly, Maya replaced the girl.
Maya…that's who this girl reminds me of.
"…Okay. I'll hear you out." Phoenix agreed and Jasmine's head shot to her brother.
He agreed…because this girl is like Maya…
"R-really!? Thank you so much!" The girl grinned as she stepped back and clasped her hands together. "My name's Ema, Ema Skye. I'm a scientific investigator."
"You're…a scientific investigator?" Jasmine asked curiously as she lowered her tea cup. Phoenix felt a smile spread across his face as he felt happy that his sister spoke, something she rarely did unless she had to.
"Yes! That's right! Is…something wrong?" Ema asked, as she cocked her head and noticed the slightly disbelieving look on Phoenix's face.
"No, it's just, you seem kind of, er, jumpy." Phoenix explained, "Or maybe just…young?"
"Young?" Ema asked, "I'll be sixteen years old this year!"
"Oh, I see…Wait! Only sixteen!?" Phoenix cried, shocked.
"I'm set to be formally assigned to Forensics in three more years." Ema grinned as she played with her pink glasses. "My work is becoming quite well known…at my age, no less!"
"So what do you do now then?" Jasmine asked, having much more tact then her brother did.
"Well, legally speaking…I guess you'd call me an 'eleventh grader'." Ema answered. "But I'm ready to do my job! At my age, no less!" Jasmine chuckled at the girl's enthusiasm.
"Well, aren't you enthusiastic?" She commented.
"Thanks!" Ema grinned. Jasmine chuckled again as she stepped aside and took out the tea kettle and tea bags she had started leaving at the office and began to make another pot of herbal tea.
"So what's this about a case? You said the trial's tomorrow?" Phoenix asked.
"My sister didn't do it!" Ema cried, startling both twins slightly. "She wouldn't stab someone with a knife! She wouldn't!"
"So…it's a murder case." Phoenix stated. Jasmine remained silent as she made the tea and that worried her brother.
"I don't care if there's a witness who saw her do it! She didn't do it!" Ema cried, "I know she didn't do it! It's a scientific fact!"
"And…there's a witness." Phoenix stated. Again, Jasmine remained silent.
"J-just talk to her! You have to talk to her!" Ema said.
"Right…I suppose I will." Phoenix nodded.
"I promised her I'd bring Mia Fey, but…" Ema trailed off. Jasmine lifted her cup and took a deep breath of the herbal tea before she returned to her brother's side.
"So, you want to be a scientific investigator? That's quite ambitious." Jasmine commented quietly.
"Thanks! I believe investigations should be done scientifically! Don't you?" Ema asked with a large grin.
"Yes, I do. It would help us out a lot in some of our investigations." Jasmine said with a small smile as she took a sip of her tea.
"If this case is handled scientifically, I'm sure my sister's name will be cleared!" Ema insisted, clutching her bag just the littlest bit tighter, her knuckles turning white as she did so. Before she thought of what she was doing, Jasmine had reached out and covered the young girl's hand, trying to comfort her. Ema smiled slightly in thanks, which Jasmine returned.
"Your sister…?" Phoenix asked suddenly.
"I've been doing research, you know!" Ema perked up suddenly, though she continued to grip Jasmine's hand, the only thing showing her true feelings. "I'm developing a new scientific method of case investigation! I'll show you when I'm done!"
"We're looking forward to it." Phoenix smiled slightly, though he shot Jasmine a look, surprised she hadn't said it at the same time.
"By the way, where did you hear the name Mia Fey?" Jasmine suddenly asked, her voice softer.
"My sister asked for her specifically." Ema answered, "Mia Fey…was a few years below her in school. She always told me to go to Mia if I ever needed a defense attorney…and, well…I need one." Jasmine tightened her grip on the young girl's hand, trying to bring her any comfort she could.
"It's nice of you to help your sister out like this. You must be close." Phoenix commented.
"…Well…actually, when she gets like she is now, I kind of hate her." Ema said, looking down, as if she was ashamed of the confession. "But…but she's my only family."
"I'm so sorry." Jasmine whispered as she set her cup down and pulled Ema into her arms, shocking the young girl, though she returned the embrace. Slowly, Jasmine pulled away and picked up her cup, though her hand remained tightly in Ema's.
"Your only family? What about your parents?" Phoenix asked.
"They died in a car accident when I was little." Ema answered, tightening her grip on the younger Wright's hand.
"Oh…I'm sorry." Phoenix apologized, rubbing the back of his neck in embarrassment. Jasmine didn't even glare at her brother, instead she was tracing her thumb over the back of Ema's hand.
"Come on, let's go check up on your sister." Jasmine said softly as she took another sip of her tea before the three walked out of the law office.
February 22nd
Detention Center
Visitor's Room
The three stood in the visitor's room silently, Ema clutching her bag in one hand and Jasmine's hand in the other, her grip so tight that her knuckles looked white. Jasmine did the best she could to silently sooth the girl as she sipped her tea.
"For the last 15 years, I've had the same dream almost every night."
No! Stop it Jazz! She thought as she roughly shook her head and breathed in the tea deeply.
"Guard…I thought I told you I didn't want visitors." A woman's voice suddenly said.
"S-s-s-sorry, ma'am! It's j-j-just, your sister…" The guard responded as he cowered in the corner in fear.
"No excuses!" The woman cried, her tone icy. "Or did you not want a raise this year, hmm?"
"U-u-u-understood, ma'am!" The guard said as he stood up and saluted the woman, though he still looked utterly terrified.
"What is going on?" Jasmine whispered, her brow furrowed in confusion. The woman stood behind the chair offered to her, showing her back to the three before her.
"H-hi, Lana." Ema stuttered as she gripped Jasmine's hand tightly, biting her lip as she looked at her sister.
"Funny. I seem to remember specifically telling you NOT to come here." Lana stated icily. "Perhaps my memory is failing?"
"L-look…I didn't want to come here either, okay?" Ema cried, her grip on Jasmine's hand tightening to where it felt like Jasmine's hand was being crushed. But the aide didn't let go, she simply continued to sip her tea calmly. "But your trial's tomorrow and you still don't have a defense attorney!"
"I'll be the one in court tomorrow. This has nothing to do with you, Ema." Lana stated. She then turned around. "Isn't that right, Mr. Wright, Ms. Wright?"
"Hey! How do you know us?" Phoenix asked.
"Mia mentioned you both." Lana answered. "I've heard…quite a bit."
"Er, I'm sorry. What exactly is it that you do…?" Phoenix asked. Jasmine stayed silent, not even asking Lana to call her by her first name. Phoenix's concern grew deeper for his sister.
"My name is Lana, Lana Skye." Lana introduced. "I'm Chief Prosecutor for this district."
"Y-you're a prosecutor!?" Phoenix cried, his eyes wide in shock.
"Nick, don't be rude." Jasmine criticized quietly, taking another sip of her tea.
"Is something wrong, Mr. Wright?" Ema asked, tilting her head in curiosity as her grip loosened slightly on Jasmine's hand.
"No, nothing." Phoenix shook his head.
"There's something you should know from the start." Lana said.
"W-which is?" Phoenix asked.
"The suspect in this case has confessed to the crime." The Chief Prosecutor answered.
"Huh?" Phoenix asked, his eyebrows raising.
"W-wait! But the suspect…the suspect is…!" Ema couldn't even speak as her grip on Jasmine's hand tightened.
"Me. I did it. Well, Mr. Wright?" Lana stated. Jasmine felt something, like a small tickle at the back of her mind. Her hand, the one holding her tea, twitched slightly as her eyes flashed dark purple for a brief second before the light faded.
She's not telling us the truth, she's hiding something. Before Jasmine could tell Phoenix her thoughts, he was already speaking.
"Well…why don't you begin by telling me exactly what happened." Phoenix requested.
"The crime took place yesterday, February 21st, at 5:15 PM." Lana started.
"That's quite specific." Phoenix commented, surprised.
"It was in the witness' deposition. A witness clearly saw me committing the crime." Lana stated.
"Uh…My, that was a bit of bad luck, wasn't it?" Phoenix tried to joke, already tensing against the expected hit. Nothing but he heard a soft groan, so soft he could barely hear it in the first place. But it gave him hope that he could get his sister back.
"The crime took place in the underground parking lot at the Prosecutor's Office." Lana continued, ignoring the poor joke. "The body was found in the trunk of my subordinate's car."
"The Prosecutor's Office, huh?" Phoenix said thoughtfully.
"I was arrested on the spot. Caught red-handed, as it were." Lana added.
"What about the victim? Who was it?" Jasmine suddenly spoke up, startling all the occupants in the room.
"An investigator with the Police Department." Lana answered, "I suppose the correct term is 'detective'."
"A detective…?" Ema repeated as she took out her notepad and began to write the information down.
"Death was due to a loss of blood. He was stabbed once in the stomach." Lana continued.
"By…you?" Phoenix asked.
"Death wasn't immediate but the wound was fatal." Lana added, dodging the question, which Jasmine noted along with the fact that it sounded like she was simply reading the autopsy report.
"I see…" Phoenix trailed off.
"Allow me to repeat myself, Mr. Wright. The victim was a detective." Lana said, "You know what that means, don't you?"
"Uh oh!" Phoenix cried as beads of sweat gathered on his forehead.
"What? Mr. Wright?" Ema cried, looking from her sister to the attorney to the aide. "What does it mean?"
"Well, it means…" Phoenix started.
"The police department will consider it a matter of pride to have me found guilty." Lana interrupted. "They will use any means at their disposal to do so."
Oy vey. Jasmine groaned mentally, though on the exterior she simply sipped her tea, her expression betraying no emotions.
"So, you're the Chief Prosecutor?" Phoenix asked.
"That is correct." Lana nodded. "I'm responsible for overseeing every trial handled by prosecutors in this district. I make sure the prosecutors have what they need to do the job, and manage every aspect. Those are my responsibilities, in a nutshell. Still, I'm a little surprised. I would think you'd recognize the district's Chief Prosecutor, Mr. Wright."
"Huh?" Phoenix asked dumbly.
"In fact, it seems impossible you wouldn't…" Lana added.
"Um…Lana?" Ema cut in. "What happened to your hand?"
"Oh, this?" Lana asked, gesturing to her bandaged hand. "I cut myself by accident. When I stabbed him, that is." There was no tickling at the back of Jasmine's mind as she heard this statement.
She's telling the truth.
"Huh?" Ema cried.
"I'm not very good at being a criminal, I suppose." Lana stated.
Is that…a joke?
"Um, you were in school with Mia, correct?" Phoenix asked, obviously trying to change the subject. "A few years above her?"
"…Ema told you that too, did she?" Lana asked.
"W-well, why not? I did drag them all the way down here from their office!" Ema cried.
"Although it seems he has very little in common with Mia…" Lana commented.
"Mia was one of a kind…" Jasmine whispered, gripping her tea with both hands now as she took a sip.
"It was in law school. I was in my third year and she was auditing a class." Lana explained, "She was different than the other students."
"Different?" Phoenix repeated.
"She was strong…she'd do anything to become a defense attorney. Anything." Lana explained, "That…was probably why she was attracted to me."
"E-excuse me!?" Phoenix cried.
"Intellectually attracted!" Ema explained, "Lana was top of her class in school."
"I was the best there was." Lana added.
"Oh…" Phoenix said, feeling stupid.
"Besides, Mia fell in love with a boy later in her life." Jasmine added and that man briefly flashed before her eyes and guilt and sadness overwhelmed her. No! Stop!
"A lawyer is someone who smiles no matter how bad it gets."
Taking a sip from her tea, Jasmine forced a small smile onto her face. All she had to do was smile.
"I'm doing pretty well in school too, by the way!" Ema added, trying to impress the twins.
"I'm sure you are, you seem like a smart girl." Jasmine smiled.
"Well, Mr. Wright, Ms. Wright?" Lana said.
"E-excuse me?" Phoenix stuttered.
"Yes?" Jasmine asked softly, meeting Lana's gaze head on.
"As you can plainly see, I am admitting my guilt." The Chief Prosecutor continued, "I think it's safe to say…there's no way you can take this case. None."
"B-but, Lana!" Ema cried, leaning towards the glass so she could stare her sister in the eyes. Lana was silent and Ema bowed her head in defeat. "You…you were always this way, weren't you? You never think of anyone, but yourself." Lana's eyes widened in surprise. "I know you didn't do it, Lana, I know! So…so how can you say that you did!? If I lose you…I'll be all alone! I…I hate you, Lana!" Lana blinked in surprise before she turned her back on the three again.
"Mr. Wright?" She spoke up.
"Y-yes?" Phoenix asked.
"I believe our discussion here is ended. The rest…I leave to you." Lana stated.
"Um…you mean you're requesting my services as your defense?" Phoenix clarified.
"Don't lose any sleep over it." Lana snapped icily. "Your client has confessed, after all. The case is over."
"Right…I'll do what I can to get to the bottom of this." Phoenix promised. With that, the three left, Phoenix leading the way back to the office.
As they entered the office, Ema turned around and bowed her head to the twins.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Wright, Ms. Wright." She apologized.
"Huh? About what?" Phoenix asked, looking at the girl in confusion.
"My sister…she's not always like that, you know." Ema clarified.
"…I just never expected to be defending another prosecutor again." Phoenix sighed, running a hand through his spikey hair.
"She's changed a lot." Ema admitted, "She used to be so gentle, always smiling. Everybody liked her."
"I see…what happened to her?" Phoenix asked.
"I don't know for certain myself…" Ema admitted, thinking carefully. "I think maybe she…well, maybe not."
"Let's go check out this underground parking at the Prosecutor's Office, shall we?" Phoenix suggested.
"O-okay!" Ema agreed.
"Ema." Jasmine suddenly spoke up, holding her tea close to her face as she did so. "Call me Jazz, please."
"Alright…Jazz it is!" Ema agreed with a smile. With that, the three headed out.
February 22nd
Prosecutor's Office
Underground Parking Lot
"So this is the lot where it all happened?" Phoenix asked as he looked around.
"Looks like they're still investigating…" Ema commented as she played with her glasses. Jasmine nursed her tea as she watched the investigation when her eyes suddenly slipped closed.
Shaking, the ground was shaking…
She was falling, her head collided with the floor…
Snow seeps into her clothes…
"JAZZ!" Phoenix's voice snapped Jasmine back to reality.
"Wha-!?" She cried as she looked up, the dark bags under her eyes more visible then usual.
"You were in a daze. Are you alright?" Phoenix asked, concerned.
"Yeah…I'm fine…" Jasmine answered.
"Maybe you should not investigate for a while, get your bearings." Phoenix suggested.
"…Alright…I'll try…" Jasmine agreed, her voice soft and hoarse before she sipped her tea. As she stepped off to the side, Jasmine allowed the herbal tea to overwhelm her senses, her memory of the first time she had it surfacing.
8 year old Jasmine Wright ran into the office with the sign 'Edgeworth Law Offices' on it.
"Hello? Mr. Edgeworth?" She called as she knocked. Soon, the door opened and Gregory Edgeworth stared down at the girl in surprise.
"Jasmine? You're here earlier than I expected. Earlier than Raymond, actually." He commented.
"I came right after school! I want to help you clear Mr. Master's name!" Jasmine insisted, "Please! Let me help!" Gregory chuckled as he opened the door wider and let her in.
"Very well, come on in." He agreed, smiling the smallest of smiles. Grinning, Jasmine walked in and looked around the neat office. "Would you like some tea?" Gregory offered.
"No thanks, I don't drink tea." Jasmine shook her head.
"Okay, but this isn't normal tea. It is herbal tea and it's very good." Gregory said as he poured a cup.
"Well…alright, I'll try some." Jasmine agreed. Nodding, Gregory handed her another cup and poured some tea in. Slowly, Jasmine picked the cup up and breathed in the smell deeply before she opened her eyes and took a sip. Her eyes widened in surprise before she took a big gulp.
"I take it you like it?" Gregory guessed with a slight smile, something he only showed when around either his son or this girl right here.
"Uh huh!" Jasmine nodded enthusiastically. "This is the best tea I ever had!"
"It's also the only tea you've ever had." Gregory teased, causing the girl to giggle with a smile before she continued to drink her tea and talk with the defense attorney while they waited for his assistant to arrive, which he did 10 minutes later, shocked to find the two laughing over tea.
"Jazz!" Jasmine blinked as she saw Phoenix gently shaking her out of her stupor. Looking down, she realized her tea cup was empty and there was now a woman with a basket in the parking lot, along with the officers and a man dressed like a sheriff.
"Yes?" She asked.
"We're heading up to the owner of that car's office. You okay?" Phoenix asked, concerned.
"I'm alright." Jasmine gave him a small smile.
"A lawyer is someone who smiles no matter what."
"Okay, then let's go." Phoenix nodded.
February 22nd
High Prosecutor's Office
Room 1202
"This is the kind of room that just screams 'I can do the job'." Ema commented as she looked around the office they stood in. Jasmine's breath caught in her throat as she noticed the jacket hanging on the wall.
That jacket…this office belongs to-!
"A memory…of a murder."
"In a daze, I pick up the pistol…and I threw it."
"It's no use."
"…You! It was you!"
STOP IT! Quickly, Jasmine grabbed a tea bag from her pocket and took a deep breath, allowing the smell to ebb away the memories.
"Mr. Phoenix Wright…you never tire of prying into other people's business, do you?" A voice asked. As soon as she heard the voice, the tension in Jasmine's shoulders faded away, the smell of the tea and the voice chasing the last of the memories away.
"Long time, no see, Edgeworth." Phoenix commented as the three turned to face the prosecutor, Jasmine still holding the tea bag tightly in her hands, having thrown away her cup on the way up. While Ema and Phoenix had taken the elevator, Jasmine refused and simply walked up all 12 flights of stairs. Ema had called her crazy, in a joking manner of course, but Phoenix had simply nodded and waited for her to come up.
"Good to see you again, Miles." Jasmine smiled.
"Huh? Aaaaaaaaaaaaah!" Ema cried, "M-M-Mr. Edgeworth!"
"You know him from somewhere?" Phoenix asked.
"O-of course! I'm his biggest fan!" Ema cried, "My sister introduced us once, and…" Jasmine chuckled at the girl's antics before she turned to the prosecutor she was in love with, though nobody knew that.
"Well? What brings you here?" Edgeworth asked. "I'll warn you…I've been known to be a real stuck-up jerk…" Jasmine started laughing, the memories of her flashbacks fading away as she allowed Edgeworth to take all her fears away, just like he always did. She wasn't sure why, but he made her braver than she actually was just by being by her side.
"N-no! Did I…? No!" Ema cried, her hands waving in front of her nervously as her cheeks tinted red in embarrassment. "It was just, Mr. Wright here, he…"
"Hey! Don't blame me!" Phoenix protested but he couldn't stop the smile that spread across his face as Jasmine began to laugh even harder and he saw true happiness and joy on her face for the first time in two months.
"W-we're just here to investigate a murder case!" Ema explained.
"Murder…?" Edgeworth repeated as he crossed his arms thoughtfully.
"A body was found in this nasty, bright red sports car in the parking lot…" Ema elaborated, glad to have the topic off her mistake.
"Hmm? That would be my car. What of it?" Edgeworth said as he smirked, watching for Ema's reaction.
"Whaaaaaaaaaaaa!?" Ema cried, her eyes wide in shock before she turned red in embarrassment again as she realized she just insulted her idol's car. "Y-y-y-your car!?" Jasmine chuckled for a minute before her face became serious, though a smile still played on her lips.
"So, the body was found in your car?" Phoenix asked.
"Go ahead, say it, Wright." Edgeworth said, "You think I did it, don't you? After you went through all that trouble last year to help me, no less."
"Miles, don't be like that, we know you didn't do it." Jasmine said gently, stepping closer to Edgeworth and squeezing his arm. "We believed in you last year, we believe in you now and we'll believe in you in the future as well. Face it, you're stuck with us believing in your innocence for the rest of your life." Edgeworth chuckled and offered her a small smile.
"I'm not sure if I should thank you or hate you." He stated.
"Do both then." Jasmine teased.
"Besides, it was my sister who stabbed him…uh, wait, no, she didn't do that! I mean…" Ema cut in.
"Wait…so you're the Chief Prosecutor's little sister, then?" Edgeworth asked, looking at the young girl.
"Y-yes sir! Ema Skye!" Ema grinned brightly, her eyes sparkling just like they do when she talks about science. "It, uh…it's nice to meet you again!"
"Ah, now I remember. You've…really grown." Edgeworth commented, causing Jasmine to laugh again. Phoenix didn't notice as Edgeworth's smile grew just a little bit at hearing the aide's laughter. "I'll admit it was a surprise to me too. To think that my own car would become the scene of a murder. More surprising still…now I'm forced to prove my superior's guilt."
"I can understand…w-wait! What did you say!?" Phoenix cried as what Edgeworth said clicked in his mind.
"Lana Skye is the Chief Prosecutor…the top prosecutor in the district." Edgeworth said, "She can't prosecute herself, so I'll be the prosecutor at the trial tomorrow."
"You!? Mr. Edgeworth…" Ema said sadly, looking down. Jasmine reached over and squeezed the girl's shoulder, however she never left Edgeworth's side.
"To be honest…it's a bit of a miracle I'm still here at all." Edgeworth admitted.
"What do you mean?" Phoenix asked.
"Rumors." Edgeworth answered. "You've heard the rumors about me, haven't you?" Jasmine bowed her head as every rumor she had ever heard about the man she was in love with raced through her mind. "Thanks to you, my innocence was established in the trial at the end of last year." Jasmine shivered as she lifted the tea bag to her nose again to push the memories away. "However, there are some who say I'm the one responsible for the current incident."
"Wh-what? That's crazy!" Phoenix cried.
"Rumors are powerful things, Nick…one innocent verdict can't change opinions overnight." Jasmine stated.
"Some people need very little excuse to think ill of others." Edgeworth added. "It's a fact of life. Impossible to stop."
"But…" Ema started to protest weakly.
"Some of them even go as far as to present me with toys like this…They think it's funny." Edgeworth said as he walked over to the couch and picked up the trophy sitting there before he set it back down and returned to Jasmine's side.
"How did you meet Ms. Skye?" Jasmine asked, curious.
"Chief Prosecutor Skye? Yes…we first worked together on a case two years ago." Edgeworth answered. "It was my first big case." Jasmine looked down as she remembered both his original first case and his official first case, biting her lip as she did so.
"That's right, I remember." Ema nodded, her eyes looking at the floor.
"Since then, I always felt she was looking out for me…it appears I was mistaken." Edgeworth said.
"M-mistaken!? Why? I mean, I know she's not the warmest person…but I'm sure she felt some responsibility for you!" Ema said, trying to cheer Edgeworth up. Jasmine, however, simply reached out and laid her hand on his arm. Subtly, Edgeworth reached over and gripped her hand in his own, neither Phoenix nor Ema noticing.
"Then…why?" Edgeworth asked, "Why did she stab someone in the trunk of my car? Not only that…she stabbed him with my knife." As he spoke, Edgeworth took out a picture of the bloody knife and showed it to the three.
"Wha…whaaaaaat!?" Ema cried. "Mr. Edgeworth! Your knife was the murder weapon!?"
"To be specific, it was the knife kept in the toolbox in the trunk of my car." Edgeworth explained.
"Why the hell do you carry a knife in a toolbox in your car?" Jasmine asked, exasperated. "What would you use it for?"
"I didn't plan on using anything in that toolbox." Edgeworth answered. Jasmine rolled her eyes but fell silent.
"Um…Edgeworth?" Phoenix spoke up after he put the picture of the knife in his bag.
"What?" Edgeworth asked.
"Are you sure you didn't do it?" Phoenix asked.
"NICK! How could you even ASK that!?" Jasmine cried as she glared at her brother. Edgeworth joined her and they both recognized the look on the attorney's face. It was the one he made when his jokes weren't laughed at. "That wasn't funny, Nick." Jasmine growled as both her and Edgeworth's glares sharpened.
"You have a strange sense of humor, Mr. Wright!" Ema cried, her hand on her hip as she glared at the attorney as well.
"Okay, okay. I'm sorry." Phoenix apologized. "I've been wondering…what the heck is this?" As he spoke, Phoenix picked up Edgeworth's trophy again.
"It has a big 'K' on it." Ema stated the obvious as she lowered her pink glasses to examine it. Edgeworth mumbled something, not looking at the three.
"…of Prosecutors..." Was all the three of them caught.
"Huh? What's that?" Phoenix asked.
"It's the 'King of Prosecutors' trophy." Edgeworth admitted.
"K-k-k…'King of Prosecutors'!?" Ema cried.
"It's a great honor. They send that shield to the best prosecutor each year." Edgeworth explained. Seeing the look on Phoenix's face, the prosecutor exploded, "What! So?"
"So that 'K'…that's…" Phoenix started.
"'K' stands for 'King'?" Ema asked.
"Yeah, you got a problem with that? I didn't design the thing!" Edgeworth yelled, glaring at Phoenix harshly. That was when Jasmine burst out into laughter for the third time that day.
"Sorry Miles, just the look on your face…" Jasmine managed between her laughing, not noticing the smiles both Edgeworth and Phoenix wore, though to be fair, neither did Phoenix.
"'King of Prosecutors'…Kind of like 'Employee of the Month', only better!" Ema smiled.
"So, in other words, you were the best of the best this year, huh?" Phoenix grinned.
"You can take the foolish grin elsewhere, Wright." Edgeworth stated, crossing his arms in irritation. "I lost a day of work to receive that travesty."
"Huh? Why's that?" Ema asked.
"I had to go to the Police Department ceremony to receive that broken shield." Edgeworth explained.
"The Police Department?" The twins questioned in unison.
"Yes. Right next to the Police Station downtown. You've been there, correct?" Edgeworth said.
"Where Detective Gumshoe works? Yeah." Phoenix confirmed.
"Um, I was wondering something about your shield…why is it broken?" Ema said.
"What does it matter? I've got more important things to worry about." Edgeworth stated.
"Oh. Right…" Ema said as her cheeks tinted red in embarrassment again.
"Yesterday was a very busy day for the Prosecutor's Office." Edgeworth said.
"Maybe…we should ask him more about yesterday?" Ema suggested to Phoenix quietly.
"Could you tell me more about yesterday…the day of the murder?" Phoenix asked.
"Yesterday was the annual cleaning day at the Prosecutor's Office." Edgeworth answered.
"Cleaning day?" Jasmine asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Working with the Police Department, we sort and file all evidence for solved cases." Edgeworth explained, "We call it 'evidence transferal'. "
"Wiping your hands of old cases, in other words." Ema said as she wrote the information down.
"Oh, and another thing…A ceremony was held at the Police Department." Edgeworth added. "There's an annual review and awards for outstanding police officers and prosecutors."
"And that's when you got the shield?" Phoenix guessed. Edgeworth nodded in confirmation.
"I was at the police department yesterday afternoon…I got back here at 5:12." Edgeworth added.
"That's…very precise." Phoenix commented.
"People like myself and Mr. Edgeworth pride ourselves on our precision, Mr. Wright." Ema stated with a grin.
"Why are you prosecutors so exact? First Ms. Skye, now you, Miles." Jasmine sighed. Phoenix was relieved. Since Edgeworth had gotten here, Jasmine had acted more like her usual self and she had only smelled her tea bag twice. It seemed Edgeworth's presence, despite being connected to her nightmares, soothed her in a way similar to her tea did.
"No, I place little faith in my memory." Edgeworth shook his head. "The only thing I trust is solid evidence." As he spoke, the prosecutor took out a parking stub and showed them that he arrived exactly at 5:12.
"Now that makes more sense." Jasmine stated with a smile.
"This is the parking stub from the underground lot." Edgeworth explained.
"So the murder happened right after you got back." Ema stated.
"What, Wright?" Edgeworth asked, seeing the look on Phoenix's face. "I'd appreciate it if you directed that suspicious glare elsewhere."
"Remember who this is we're talking to, Nick. Just keep that in mind." Jasmine stated, her voice serious. Suddenly, a police officer burst into the office.
"Um…! Excuse me! But is Mr. Edgeworth, uh…anywhere on the premises?" The officer asked as he saluted the group.
"I'm Edgeworth." Edgeworth said as he stepped forward. "What is it?"
"I'm here, sir, at the request of the Chief, sir!" The officer cried, "I've got your report, sir!"
"Report? What?" Edgeworth asked. "Did you find new evidence in the case against Chief Prosecutor Skye!?"
"Er…Skye, sir?" The officer repeated. "No, sir! No name of that kind, sir! Not in this report, sir!" Jasmine, concerned, stepped closer to Edgeworth for support.
"I made a clear request to the Police Department, did I not?" Edgeworth said, steam practically coming out of his ears. "I need to focus on the trial tomorrow, so don't bring me anything unrelated!"
"Sir! But, but sir!" The officer cried, "I'm just following orders, sir! They told me to bring this to you! I wasn't aware of the particulars of your arrangement with us, sir!"
"Give me your name!" Edgeworth exploded. Phoenix, Ema and the officer jumped but Jasmine remained calm, standing at Edgeworth's side, her hand subtly holding his behind their backs, hidden from the world.
"U-uh, yes…yes, sir! M-M-Meekins, sir. Officer Meekins!" The officer, Meekins, saluted.
"Right. Officer Meekins? Take your report and leave." Edgeworth ordered, his hand still in Jasmine's. "And good luck with that raise next month."
"B-but, sir, I d-didn't know!" Meekins whimpered. Edgeworth said nothing else and the dejected officer left.
"Wright." Edgeworth stated.
"Y-yes, sir!?" Phoenix cried and Jasmine giggled at her brother's expense.
"As you can see, I'm busy." Edgeworth said, "You may leave now."
"L-let's do what he says, Mr. Wright!" Ema suggested.
"The victim was a detective from the same department as that patrolman just now." Edgeworth explained. "Go down to the Police Department. You can ask more there."
"U-uh…thanks." Phoenix said.
"You guys go ahead. I'll catch up later." Jasmine said. Phoenix and Ema nodded before they walked out. Jasmine then turned to Edgeworth. "Are you okay?" She asked.
"I'm fine. What about you?" Edgeworth asked. Using his free hand, he gently cupped her left cheek, his thumb tracing the dark bags under her eyes. "You don't look like you've been sleeping well."
"I suffer from PTSD after...that trial last year. But I'm okay, or at least…I will be." Jasmine answered. "I use different kinds of herbal tea to calm myself down, it helps a lot."
"My father's favorite tea…" Edgeworth whispered to himself.
"It's also mine." Jasmine smiled, "He introduced me to it and I fell in love, I guess."
"It's also proven to help calm the senses." Edgeworth added, his thumb still tracing her cheek, almost unconsciously. Jasmine leaned her head into his hand as he continued to do so.
"Yes, but you're the only reason I'm like this at the moment." She admitted, "Whenever you're around, I feel…normal again. Like I don't have PTSD, does that make sense?"
"A bit." Edgeworth nodded.
"Okay, I'm glad." Jasmine smiled. "Don't worry about me though, I'll be alright."
"Jasmine, I will never stop worrying about you." Edgeworth whispered as he leaned closer to her. Jasmine blushed lightly but smiled all the same as she leaned in and connected their lips. Their kisses were always gentle and sweet, a stark difference from the man everyone thought Edgeworth was. And that was part of why she loved him, he trusted her enough to let her see the real him and she returned in kind. Slowly, she pulled away and smiled at him.
"You have some work to do so I'll be going now." She whispered.
"Very well." Edgeworth nodded before he gently kissed her forehead, causing a blush to dust her cheeks before she turned and left, waving goodbye as she did so.
Jasmine was walking out of the Prosecutor's Office when Ema and Phoenix got in a taxi.
"Hey, you're back already?" She asked.
"We might actually be able to investigate now!" Ema cried excitedly. Phoenix held up a letter.
"This is from Detective Gumshoe. Let's see if it works." He said. Jasmine nodded in agreement and the three headed to the underground parking lot.
February 22nd
Prosecutor's Office
Underground Parking Lot
As the three entered the parking lot, Jasmine looked around.
Alright, this time I'm gonna help. No more damsel in distress moments today, thank you!
"I have to be getting back to the shop…" A voice said.
"Sorry…looks like I'll be stuck in this pit 'til the sun sleeps." Another replied.
"I'll see you in my dreams tonight then, baby." The first voice said. "Oh! Still here?" The woman with the picnic basket said.
"Ah, h-hello." Ema stuttered.
"Angel Starr." Phoenix whispered to his sister.
"Why the surprised looks? Didn't I mention…? I've got a boyfriend in Criminal Affairs too." Angel smiled. With a wave, Angel left the parking lot.
"Hey! What's wrong, bambina?" The sheriff asked.
"Jake Marshall." Phoenix whispered to Jasmine.
"You're lookin' like a dogie that's lost its herd!" Marshall said before he took a drink from a small bottle he had.
"Would you mind reading this for me?" Phoenix asked as he took out the letter.
"What's this? I warn you, fan letters to me go right in the spittoon!" Marshall said as he took the letter.
"It's a letter of introduction from Detective Gumshoe." Phoenix explained. "May we investigate?"
"Gumshoe…? Ah, that old cowdog?" Marshall said, "Hmm…he holding a birthday party or something?"
"Huh?" Phoenix asked.
"What?" Jasmine asked at the same time.
"Look, where it should letter of 'introduction'…it says 'invitation'." Marshall explained as he showed the three the letter.
"Gumshoe." Jasmine groaned as she smacked her forehead.
"Ah…I think he just miswrote it." Phoenix said sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck and secretly praying they could investigate.
"No worries. This proves it's from Detective Gumshoe better than a blood test." Marshall shook his head. "Guess I'd better let you in then."
"Th-thank you, Officer Marshall!" Ema grinned.
"But isn't it odd that an officer is in charge of the crime scene?" Jasmine asked.
"That is odd!" Ema gasped. "Isn't a crime scene supposed to be handled by a detective or higher?"
"Well, folks. The clues are calling! Welcome to our gold strike." Marshall said. "Be like the settler! Strike out for lands unknown! Manifest Destiny! Let's have a hootenanny!"
"Note to self: police investigations are like settling land." Ema thought aloud as she wrote the note in her notepad.
"No, they are not." Jasmine shook her head as she lowered the girl's notepad so she stopped writing, offering her a smile.
"Well, Mr. Wright, Jazz, what do you say!?" Ema grinned as she played with her glasses.
"Officer Marshall? Can you tell us more about the victim?" Phoenix requested.
"…Good men always die young. Remember that, pardner." Marshall stated.
"Um…could you be a little more specific?" Phoenix asked, obviously annoyed.
"Bruce Goodman…he was a detective right?" Ema asked.
"Well, well, aren't you a feisty dogie now." Marshall commented. "Detective Goodman was stabbed here at 5:15…The smiling Madonna told me the tale…One stab to the chest. A fine piece of work. This here's the autopsy report." As soon as he handed it over, Jasmine began looking through the autopsy report, examining every detail.
"Was my sister involved with the victim in any way?" Ema asked.
"Funny you should mention that, bambina." Marshall said, playing with a knife. "Chief Prosecutor Skye and Detective Goodman…had nothing in common at all."
"Nothing in common…?" Ema repeated.
"They apparently worked on a case together a few years back." Marshall said, "Goodman wasn't a particularly gifted detective. That's one reason why he didn't do much work with the Chief Prosecutor…"
"But, my sister called the victim here on the day of the murder, right?" Ema asked. "Here…to this parking lot?"
"So it seems. Like calling an unarmed man to a shootout at high noon." Marshall nodded.
That's not exactly a pretty picture. Jasmine thought as she rubbed Ema's back in comfort.
"Um, I don't mean any offense, but...Officer Marshall, you're a patrolman, right? Not a detective." Phoenix pointed out.
"You callin' me out? They shoot you for that in Texas." Marshall stated, glaring at the attorney.
"Huh?" Phoenix asked, confused.
"I was one of them fancy-shoed 'Detectives' till two years ago, to tell ya the truth." Marshall admitted.
"Oh, really?" Phoenix asked.
"Seriously?" Jasmine asked, shocked.
"But, you're a patrolman now. So how can you be in charge of a crime scene?" Ema asked.
"Nothing gets by you, does it, bambina?" Marshall asked.
"So, why are you in charge?" Jasmine asked, curious.
"No reason. We're just short on hands right now. I'm keeping an eye out in the meantime." Marshall explained.
"That's odd, though. Detective Gumshoe was saying he had nothing to do...nothing important, at least." Ema commented.
"He's nothing but a sad ol' cowdog, that can't find his tail. Maybe it's because he runs with that Edgeworth, eh?" Marshall said.
"Edgeworth...?" Phoenix asked. Jasmine's eyebrows furrowed at the mention of Edgeworth.
"That cowdog's been kicked out of this cattle run... by order of the Chief of Police. Just, he don't realize it yet." Marshall stated.
"So there's no connection between Detective Goodman and my sister!" Ema said happily.
"That's correct, but…there's a goldmine of evidence against her…" Marshall answered. "And the prosecutor tomorrow is none other than Edgeworth himself…"
And what does that have anything to do with the case?
"I'm afraid your sister's fate is decided, bambina. Many condolences." Marshall said.
"Officer Marshall!" Ema cried.
"Yeah, bambina?" Marshall asked.
"H-how can you say that!" Ema cried, "You and my sister, you were…"
Lana and Marshall…there must've been something between them, maybe still is.
"I apologize, bambina." Marshall said, "Something must have gotten to me. Maybe it's that dry wind that's a-blowin' through the Prosecutor's Office."
"Why do you keep making comments about Miles Edgeworth?" Jasmine asked.
"Suspicions about Mr. Edgeworth have been flying around for nearly two years now." Marshall stated.
"Forging evidence…arranging testimonies, you name it." Phoenix added.
"He was unbeatable because he did whatever it took to win. Unbeatable, that is, until he met you." The officer stated.
"But rumors are just…rumors, aren't they?" Ema asked, looking dejected. "These are prosecutors we're talking about! Evidence is everything to them!"
"If you follow the rumors about Edgeworth to their source, you find one person…" Marshall said. "But…they're off limits. Untouchable, you might say."
"One person? Who is it?" Jasmine asked.
"Bambina...it's your sister." Marshall said, "Chief Prosecutor Lana Skye."
"What!? My sister…?" Ema gasped.
"Edgeworth couldn't rustle all those cattle by himself." Marshall said gravely. "Some people load their guns with bullets, some people load their guns with 'deals'."
"What, you're saying Edgeworth was making deals to win trials?" Phoenix accused, angry.
"'Where there's gunshots, there's bound to be bullets'." Marshall quoted. "That's what the old-timers say. There's a big ol' secret hidden around here somewhere. Everyone knows it.
Jasmine walked towards Edgeworth's car and began to look around when she spotted a cell phone on the ground.
"Hey Nick, come here!" She called and both her brother and Ema walked over.
"This looks like a cell phone." Phoenix stated.
"Scientific analysis would suggest that this belongs to the victim!" Ema stated, "I can't think of anyone else it would belong to…"
"Should we check it out?" Phoenix asked.
"Definitely. It could hold some valuable piece of evidence." Jasmine answered as she flipped the phone open.
"Hmm. The display is still on the redial button." Ema noted.
"Redial…?" Phoenix questioned.
"Basically, you push it and the last number you called is dialed." Jasmine explained.
"I know how redial works, Jazz." Phoenix stated, glaring at his sister.
"You do!?" Ema cried, "I'm sorry! It's just, you never know with people from your generation." Phoenix rolled his eyes before he pushed the redial button, Ema making a note as she did so. Just then, a ring tone went off. Jasmine and Phoenix's eyes were both wide as their heads shot up.
"Hey! That song! I know that!" Phoenix cried.
"I'd know that song anywhere!" Jasmine added.
"Hey! What's going on over there?" Marshall cried. Phoenix turned the phone off as quickly as possible.
"Ah! Oh, s-sorry." Phoenix apologized.
"I see you, pardner!" Marshall said, "You pressed redial on that there phone, didn't you?"
"Uh, well, yeah…" Phoenix admitted.
"Whose phone is this, anyway?" Ema asked, changing the subject. "It was on the ground over there…"
"Whose is it? That belongs to Chief Prosecutor Skye." Marshall answered.
"What? It's my sister's!?" Ema cried.
"She apparently dropped it when she was taken into custody, right after the crime." Marshall explained. "Look…the last call was made right when the murder occurred! Looks like she was fixing to call someone. Except she only spoke for a few seconds, according to this."
"Who did she call!?" Phoenix demanded.
"No idea. Sorry pardner." Marshall apologized. "Now, I got a question for you, pardner. I heard a phone ring just now…one of those new-fangled ring-tunes."
"Oh? That? Oh…I'm sorry, that was my phone." Phoenix apologized.
"W-w-what!?" Marshall cried, shocked. "Your phone!?"
"Yeah, it's kind of strange, but…someone called me right as we picked up the other phone, a wrong number…" Phoenix bluffed.
"…I hope you're not lying…they shoot you for that in Texas, pardner!" Marshall warned. Phoenix breathed a sigh of relief as the officer walked away.
"What's this?" Jasmine asked as she bent down to the ground and picked up a piece of paper.
"Looks like a note of some sort." Phoenix stated, looking over his sister's shoulder as Ema looked over the other.
"Look! Something's written on it!" Ema pointed.
"You're right." Phoenix nodded.
"'6-7S 12/2'." Jasmine read.
"There's a name printed on the paper above that…'Goodman'." Ema read. "Well? So? What does it mean, Mr. Wright?"
"How am I supposed to know?" Phoenix asked.
"Note to self: for deductive reasoning, go to Edgeworth, not Wright." Ema thought aloud as she wrote a memo.
"That's very true." Jasmine agreed as she folded the note up and put it away.
"So, well, how are we doing, Mr. Wright?" Ema asked.
"I guess we got some clues…" Phoenix said. "We have an autopsy report, a note from the victim and a cell phone…"
"So…you think we'll be okay?" Ema asked optimistically.
"We should be for tomorrow." Jasmine nodded.
"The only thing still bothering me is that Lana is confessing to the crime." Phoenix admitted. "She says she did it!"
"No problem! I can guarantee that she's not the criminal." Ema grinned.
"Oh by the way, Ema?" Jasmine spoked up.
"Yes?" Ema asked.
"We know the song your phone plays when it rings…" Jasmine said.
"What…?" Ema asked. Phoenix took out his own phone and played the ring tone for a second.
"It's the Steel Samurai theme song, isn't it?" The attorney asked rhetorically. "That popular TV show…for kids?" Ema looked down as she realized she was caught. "The phone that just rang wasn't mine…it was yours."
"At 5:18, right after the murder…your sister called you, didn't she, Ema?" Jasmine asked as gently as she could.
"I…I'm sorry!" Ema said.
"Can you tell us what you talked about?" Phoenix asked, trying to be soothing.
"I…she hung up right away." Ema answered.
"I see…" Phoenix nodded as Jasmine wrote some notes down.
A detective was murdered and the top prosecutor in the district is accused…I feel like there's something else I'm not seeing, something else that went on down here that I don't know yet.
Well, that's it? How was it? Was Jasmine's PTSD believable? And if I offended anyone in the way I portrayed PTSD, I know it is not to be taken lightly, I am very sorry. I hope you guys enjoyed! Please leave a review! Later!
