"Little brat", I huff frustrated watching that kid Sora sit there on that bench as the sun shines down, "I should have already gotten my pay, but nooo…", seeing him free and not with me really pulls on my chain.
I little buzzing sound is heard from my ear piece, I bring my hand to it and activate it. "What?", I ask annoyed.
"Kerr requests your presents Darcy, I suggest meeting him", my assistant tells me in his high toned crackly voice on his.
I turn away from that brat Sora and walk down the street, "And what does he want now, Joker?".
"He wants to talk about your failure in catching Sora", I can feel a vain pulsate as my anger boils.
"I didn't fail! I would have gotten him back if his stupid men didn't interfere!", I yell into my small hidden microphone in my coller. All this yelling got the attention of the people around me as to them it looked like I was yell at nothing. I glared at them and stormed off.
"Whoa. easy there Darcy, I'm just the messenger, go bite Kerr's head off", Joker relied, not happy with the tone I gave him.
I sighed sadly, "Sorry Joker, it's just that Sora kid gets to me, that whole organisation as well. They're all just freaks…", I clench my fist and made my way out of Pewter City.
"You're one to talk Darcy", A moment of silence goes by before anyone says a word, "Be there tomorrow", and with that Joker cuts off to leave me alone with my thoughts.
"I'm no freak…", I mumble to myself, walking along the path into the forest surrounding the city. Joker always had a way to get under my skin but he's really the only thing I have to a family at this point so I put up with it, besides he's good with technology and builds me great gadgets to use for my jobs. Without them I wouldn't be able to earn any money.
I take a break as I find a small stream, sitting by the edge and leaning up against the rock to be left alone with my thoughts. I raise my hands and stare at them for a few minutes as a million thoughts cross my mind, "Freak…", I clench my fists as they shake in anger and disappointment in myself. I unclench and lower my hands down while leaning my head against the rock.
Now staring up at the blue sky I ponder the thought of things that has happened to lead me here, to what I'm doing today. "If Sora knew the truth, maybe he wouldn't be so hateful against me…", I smile as I closed my eyes to get some rest.
The table feels cold against my exposed back as I'm strapped down to it like some kind monster. Scientists around me doing their own thing at their stations, while others inspect my body, they're lucky that I don't have the strength to fight back anymore, as they took away any kind of strength I had left.
I hear metallic sliding doors open as footsteps echo through the room, the scientists stop their work and all have their eyes on the person that walked in, with the footsteps I can hear the pitter patter of paws on the hard floor.
The person stands over me, the light behind him that was shining on me now makes him a silhouette in my vision, but soon became clear to me. I already knew who this was even before he walked in. "Gi...Giovanni… sharp as ever I see", I smirk up to him using what energy I had left to talk. He smiled back to be like I was nothing.
"Ahh Darcy, always a pleasure to see you, how you feeling?", His smile turned to a grin as he fully knows how I feel.
"Pissed...pain… all those things you seem to like inflicting on others…", this dirty human being said he would give me a home… a place to call a family… instead here I am now… ten years later still his slave to test his little experiments.
"I do what I can for the greater good, you know that", he tried lying to me just for the fun of it.
"Bull, you know you just want to fill you expensive suit pockets with even more money", I'm not wrong, that suit does look expensive and he's also doing to this to fill his stupid wallet.
His grin just gets bigger while he struggles, " You can't blame me if my advancements give me more money", he stopped leaning over me and walks over to some of the scientists on the other side of the room. "Progress?", he asked one of them.
"Well sir, I believe we're ready for the final test", one of the scientists told him flicking through his notes. "All we need to do now is mind bend his mind and he will be all yours". Wait, mind bend? What is mind bend, and are they talking about me? Whatever's going on I'm not going to like it, they have been testing on my for ten years and now I truly believe my life will be over if I allow them to continue.
"Need…. to….", My muscle tighten as I clench my fists and expand my chest, everyone turns around and I gain all the attention, best to leave this place being the center of attention.
"He's trying to escape! Put him to sleep!", one of them yell as they all scramble, all I notice is Giovanni raising an eyebrow very interested in what's going on, and I'll give him something to be interested about.
I struggle against the metal bindings they have on me as I hear about to give way under the strain of strength I'm putting them under, before finally they snap, as the room goes silent. I sit up on the table and look around very pissed off before focusing my attention to giovanni.
"You…", I grind my teeth together and leap from the table charging at him, he only grins as I get tackled from the side from his pet persian, I slide against the floor and flip back onto my feet.
"I'm impressed with your work men, very impressed", He grins as the persian comes at me again leaping into the air. I duck underneath it and grab its hind legs, with full force I chuck the pokemon into the wall on the other side of the room before focusing my attention on my enemy, "Very impressed", he goes on saying.
"Enough!", I scream out as i charge at him, quickly the persian is back between us looking quite hurt but before long I knew there was going to be more pokemon here, it's either I stay and try and get revenge on Giovanni, or I make my escape… I went with freedom from this place. I leap over the pokemon and made my way out the door.
Suddenly I wake up, jumping up in my spot at the streams edge, I must have dozed off. "Must have been dreaming again…", I rub my face trying to wake up from my nightmare that I wish I could stop reliving in my dreams.
"You escaped from Team Rocket's Lab, saved a man named Joker as well and you two started to hunt pokemon to make a living", a voice I never heard before spoke, I widen my eyes and got into position ready to fight.
"Who's there!?", I demanded to know, a figure emerged from behind the rock I was leaning against, from one look at the guy I already knew where he came from. "Team Horizon…", I calmed down and stood up properly, "Got tired of waiting for me to come so they sent the dog to fetch me, who nice", I cross my arms and grin at the Glaceon looking freak in front of me.
"Now that's not very nice, I didn't come on behalf of Team Horizon, in fact I left them", he said walking around the rock to my side, I still have my eyes firmly on him.
"Left huh? Don't blame you", these organisations are nothing but trouble, I tend to work from private people, but Team Horizon offered me a great deal of money for my help.
"What they have done is a crime against this world, to all of us. Even you have suffered to humans", humans? He acts like he isn't one, well I guess that's debatable.
"My suffering had nothing to do with Team Horizon…", I clench my fist in anger, "It was all Team Rockets doing… what do you care anyway!?", I throw my arm to the side, what did this freak want anyway.
"I care about all things, the safety of others that have suffered for one", I really want to punch this guy right in the snout, but for some reason I see truth in his words, I calm down and gave this guy a chance.
"...What's your name?", I ask crossing my arms again.
"...Frost, and you're Darcy", he responded.
I roll my eyes in annoyance, "I know you know my name, you know my whole life story after all".
"True, I know that you were abandoned as a kid in the woods", I slowly lower my arms in shock, no one, not ever Joker knows anything about my past. "That you lived with an Absol till you were ten, having it care for you, teach you how to live. Then you went with Giovanni as he offered to give you a real family, a loving family", I grind my teeth just at the sound of his name.
"He lied to me…", I muttered out, but it seems Frost heard me.
"Yes I know, they tested on you to make you into some kind of super soldier for defending members on important missions", this guy knows so much about me… even things that I haven't told anyone… how? "Then you broke out ten years later just before they finished, helped Joker escaped which they were using to make gear for their members. With no where to go you two worked together and became pokemon hunters, while you also managing to find the Absol that cared for you".
"Yes…. very interesting, now get to the point", I grown tired of hearing my life story from this freak, I have work to do.
"You hurt others by taking loved ones away", Frost brought up.
"Loved ones? They're just pokemon", I commented back, sure Absol is special to me, but there's no way anyone else has that kind of bond with their pokemon.
"Pokemon and humans live in harmony together, we all grow attached to each other, through love and friendship", he shook his head and continued, "You take that away and hurt others by doing so, why? After you yourself has experience pain".
"Why you want to know!?", I snap at him, "Why don't you just back off! I have my own problems to deal with".
"Because it's my job to know, and to defend and help", he frowns at me like I have done something wrong.
"Oh, you want to fight now? I will win, just you know this!", I take Absol's pokeball from the chain on my pants, ready to fight. I have given this guy a chance but he has blown it but questioning things I have ever done.
"There's no need to fight Darcy", he gains a more happier tone and stops frowning, mumble in anger and slowly lower my hand, putting the pokeball back onto the chain, "I only ask you this, who you think are your enemies are your friends. Be wary that you could be ruining someone's life more than you realize", Frost turns around and starts to walk off, not saying another word.
"T-That's it? What on earth does that mean!?", I yell at him, trying to get him to answer, "Hey!", I tried again but nothing, soon he started to fade and then nothing, he was gone. "Whatever… freak…", I turn back to the stream now with another million thoughts running through my mind, but I have no time to deal with them right now, after I'm done with this meeting I will ponder about Frost words, until then I'm a busy man.
I walk back to the path take out a pokeball, releasing the pokemon within, "Flygon!", after a bright light has calmed down my Flygon is now in front of me, "We have people to visit", with that I carefully get on his back and her powerful wings lift us off the ground at take us far off into the distance to our destination.
I got off at the edge of the mountains, as I couldn't approach with Flygon, so she has been returned to her ball and I've been walking for about an hour now, so close to where I need to be.
Climb over a cliff and find that a number of Team Horizon guys, as well as one that I have already met before, his name was Edge.
"So, finally showed up did you?", Edge taps his foot impatiently.
"Not my fault you are in a mountain", I answered back, "So where's Kerr?", as I haven't been able to see him around out here yet, and he is the one I deal my business with.
"He's inside, follow", Edge added as he turned around and walked through huge metal doors, already open for us. Inside huh? Never been inside so this is a treat. I follow Edge inside the facility as we made our way down many hall ways, going deeper and deeper, the feel of this place didn't feel right, it felt weird outside at the door but being in here just makes everything feel… unnatural. We have walked past many rooms, some of which say testing rooms, incubations rooms… incubation? What on earth could they want to incubate here? Whatever they're doing here doesn't me feel well, it reminds me too much of my time with Team Rocket.
We kept walking and I was able to looking into some windows that were on the wall, other people chained up in cells and little habitats, all changing and deformed from all the testing, I clench my fist at the site, it's just like Team Rocket, just worse. I could hear moaning and crying from the people pokemon hybrids things, they don't want to be here, why couldn't we talk outside of the research facility instead of making me walk through here.
There was one room that wasn't like the others, it was more decorated and it just has a lone Espeon inside there, from the look of the state of the room and how she's just laying there out of energy I can guess why they need those incubator rooms. Monsters they were… Team Horizon has no place to hire me… but I guess I might as well follow with the job I've been given.
A little later, we reach some doors as Edge stands in front of them. "In here", he pointed to the doors to my right, I already knew that Kerr would be on the otherside, I open the doors and walk in, giving a wave of my hand to Edge which he didn't seem to enjoy, good.
I walk down the long room to his desk, which I can see him sitting at, "Ahh Darcy, so nice for you to join us, please, sit", He gestures to one of the chairs in front of his desk, I just shook my head and crossed my arms.
"I won't be here that long", I say tapping my foot, "So I hear you're blaming me for losing Sora?".
"Well, he did get away from you did he not?", he said leaning back in his chair.
"I was after him! You had to bring your stupid men into it and chasing him off back to town!", I yell at him, I won't be blamed for his mistakes, yes Sora did escape me, but that's because I didn't know he knew Psychic, that's why he got away.
"My men were doing as they were ordered, to pick him up from you, once they found out that they got away they helped, nothing more", he brings his hands together to demonstrate that this conversation was over.
"Think what you want", I finish with.
"Hmph. Anyway, with the real reason why you're here. I want you to catch Sora and bring him here yourself, I'll double your pay", I widen my eyes from hearing that, that's a lot of money.
"I see… and all you want me to do is catch like before, but bring him here?", He just nods in response, "I can do that".
He smiles from my answer, "Good, this way if anything happens, it's all on you", he smirks while I frown, he just wants to cover his own hide.
"Deal… I'll see you soon then", He waves me off and I turn around to head for the doors out only to stop with a question floating in my mind.
"Hm?", is the sound he makes wondering about me.
"Why you want this kid so bad anyway? Sure he's got your little virus in him, but you have many test subjects here that I saw", I turn my head to stare at him to see his reaction, he grins before turning his chair around.
"A son needs his father after all", I think about his words as I slowly piece some questions together.
"Father…. hmm…", I turn and make my way to the door again, this is only bound to get interesting.
WHOA! ^^ Welp, I hope you enjoy, if you don't understand some of the things here then I won't spoil it, you'll just have to wait for more chapters to find out if you weren't able to piece it together from this one. Anyway, I don't know how long chapters will be from now on, I would like to release chapters more often, but that means lowering how many words, which I might just do. So I'll type what I can and what happens happens.
