Chapter 7
At Damon's House
Damon's POV
Why did I have to like an idiot towards Elena yesterday? I need to talk to her.
"Hello" Elena said picking up the phone.
"Elena, can you come over? I need to talk to you"
"I thought we were talking" Elena said cheekily and I could just picture her grinning at me.
"In person"
"Okay, I'll be over in a couple of minutes. Love you." She said then hung up.
"Damon, are you in here?" I heard Elena yell as she walked into the house.
"Right here" I said walking into the entryway to meet her. She walked over to me and put her arms around me in a hug. I wrapped my arms around her and pulled her closer to me.
"So, what did you want to talk to me about?" she asked still in my arms.
"Well, I actually had an idea that I would like to run past you" I explained. She pulled back a little to look up at me with her eyebrows raised in question. "I was wondering if you wanted to move in here with me? That is only if you want to" I implored. She pulled away from and walked a little away from me before turning back around to face me.
"I don't know, Damon. Do you really think that is such a good idea? I mean what about Bonnie and Jeremy?" she reasoned not really looking at me.
"You can give them the house to themselves and they can come here anytime they want to. They're your family. But this all only if you want to" I reassured her.
"Why now?" she asked quietly.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean why now? Why all of the sudden do you want me to move in with you? Is this because of everything that is going on with Klaus? Because I don't want all this to be just because you are trying to protect me and not because you don't really want to"
"That is not it at all Elena. I've been thinking about it for a while even before Klaus came back in town and found out you were still alive. Of course, I want to protect you I love you more then you will ever know and I don't want anything bad to happen to you but I don't want you to move in because I want to protect you. I want you to move in with me because I love you."
"Okay. Can I think about it for a little bit?"
"Of course, take all the time that you need. I don't want to put any pressure on you" I told her and she just smiled at me and I pulled her close to me again. Then the door opened and in walked Stefan and Evil Vampire Barbie. "What are you doing here?" I asked him.
"Klaus is having me watch Elena to make sure she doesn't get hurt and jeopardize him making his hybrids and I brought Rebekah along to help me" he stated.
"She is fine. I can watch her and protect her myself" I growled at Stefan.
"I don't doubt that, but Klaus wants me to watch her. So, that's what I'm going to do" he spoke.
"Oh, yeah I forgot that you were his little minion" I fired. Then he stepped for me looking like he was about to hit me when Elena spoke up and turned both of our attention towards her.
"Couldn't you go anywhere else but here, and I really don't want you watching after me like I'm some helpless child"
"Sorry no can do. You're just going to have to deal with it" he answered her with no emotion.
"Come on Stefan why don't you help me take all our stuff upstairs so you can show me where everything goes" Rebekah said. Stefan groaned and picked up their bags and walked upstairs and Rebekah started to follow him when she turned back around to me and Elena.
"Don't worry I won't let him bother you or try to ruin anything between the two of you" she said looking at Elena. Elena just looked shocked by her words at first but then she smiled at her and said thank you. Blondie just nodded then turned around and disappeared up the stairs.
"Why does he even need to be here? Why does he have to show up at the worst possible time?" Elena questioned obviously annoyed.
"I don't know he's Stefan it's sort of just what he does, and it's only worse now because of him being Klaus's lackey now. But what do you want to do about him and Vampire Barbie now that they are both here?" I questioned.
"Honestly I just want to go about things like normal and ignore him I guess because I really don't like the idea of him following me around and watching me like he's my bodyguard or something it's kind of annoying. As for Rebekah she's not really doing anything to bother anyone so I don't think that we really need to worry about her"
"If that's what you want to do then that's what we'll do. Hopefully he won't be too insufferable and with him watching out for you I won't have to worry about you so much when I'm not with you because I know that he will protect you. Even if it's because Klaus won't let him and he does what Klaus tells him to" I told her and she just rolled her eyes at me then smiled.
"Well I have to go. I need to meet Bonnie and Jeremy they want me to come with them apartment hunting" She said getting up and moving towards the door.
"Okay, have fun and be careful" I told her before I kissed her goodbye.
Elena's Point of View
"Oh, I really like this one" Bonnie gushed as she walked into the apartment that she and Jeremy were looking at.
"Yeah it is a lot better than the one we were just looking at" Jeremy countered. Me and Bonnie just laughed at his comment.
"That place was pretty bad parts of the floor were even missing from that place" I said.
"That one was pretty disgusting. I don't even know how they could even consider that place livable" she recalled and we all laughed together.
"So, what do all think about this place?" the realtor asked coming into the room.
"I think this might be the one we want" Bonnie said.
"Okay, well if you guys want the place tell me your offer so we can put it in and see what they say" the realtor told her before the leaving the room again.
"Are you sure that this is the place that you guys really want?" I asked them.
"I don't really know" Bonnie answered.
"How about you guys stay at the house?" I suggested.
"As much as we both love you Elena, we would like to have our own place" she replied.
"And you would have your own place. Damon asked me to move in with him earlier and I've thinking about it all day and I want to move in with him" I told them.
"What? Really are you sure?" Bonnie asked.
"Positive. This is really what's best for everyone and I know that you both love the house. Plus, it's just too big for me all by myself. Also, I think living with Damon will be really good for me." I explained.
"Okay, I guess we don't need to do anymore house hunting and we really will have the perfect place." Bonnie said as she came over and gave me a hug and thanked me again for giving them the house.
"Okay, now I just need to tell Damon what I have decided" I announced as I went into the other room to call Damon.
"Hello" Damon spoke as he answered the call.
"Hey, I just wanted to call you and let you know that I have made up my mind about moving in with you" I told him.
"What would that decision be exactly?" He asked.
"Yes, Damon I want to move in with you." I told him excitedly.
"Really, are you sure really want to do that now that Stefan is back and living here too along with Evil Vampire Barbie?" He asked me sounding a bit nervous.
"Yes, Damon I really am sure. It will all be fine. I can deal with them. I just want to be with you and I really do want to move in with you. Nothing is going to change that." I assured him.
"Okay, then why don't you bring over some of your stuff tonight. Then we can go over tomorrow and get the rest of your things" he suggested.
"Okay, that sounds good to me. I may be a few hours because I'm out with Jeremy and Bonnie but I'll start packing as soon as I get back to the house." I told him. We said our goodbyes and I hung up. I then went back to the room where Jeremy and Bonnie were. They were in the middle of a conversation with their realtor letting her know that they were not going to put an offer in on the apartment that they actually had found a house, but they really appreciated all her hard work.
"Hey, guys I'm going to head out. I have to get back to the house and start packing. I'm going to take some of my stuff to Damon's' tonight. We will come back tomorrow and get the rest." I told them. Then we said our goodbyes and I headed out to my car and made my way back to the house. I got right to work packing up my things as soon as I got home. Once I got all the things that I wanted to take with me together I packed them up in my car then headed off to Damon's house.
"What's all of this stuff for?" I heard a voice ask as I was getting out of my car at Damon's house.
"I'm moving in" I answered Stefan.
"Well, I guess my brother will let just anyone stay here now" he said haughtily.
"Well, you're here so there's obviously some truth to that statement" I told him as I grabbed my stuff out of the car and brushed past him into the house.
"You know he will never love you like he loved Katherine, right!?" He yelled after me.
"Well, little brother I would have to say that agree with you on that one. Elena has never manipulated me or anyone for that matter into loving her. I just do and I love her more than I have ever loved anyone let alone Katherine." Damon professed.
"But we both know what this is really about and that you are just mad that Katherine is the only one that loved you enough to choose you" Damon spoke adding to the insults. Stefan just glared in response.
"Listen Stefan, I know Klaus is making you watch me but that doesn't mean that you have to talk to me in fact at this point I would prefer it if you didn't" I grumbled.
"You know just because Klaus needs you alive doesn't mean that you're safe. So, you may want to put some thought into that before you start shooting off your mouth like that Elena" Stefan threatened.
"Is that so little brother because I'm pretty sure that Klaus wants Elena to remained unharmed. So, I'm pretty sure that it wouldn't be in your best interest to be threatening her like that." Damon retaliated.
"Now what in the world is going on out here and why do you people have to be so bloody loud" Rebekah asked coming outside to join the rest of us.
"Elena is moving in with me and Stefan doesn't seem to be very fond of that fact" Damon responded.
"Are you serious? That's what all that noise was about? You were just having a jealous fit over your brother asking his girlfriend to move in with him. Do know how barbaric that is?" Rebekah questioned.
No, I'm not jealous. I just don't want to have to babysit her 24/7" Stefan huffed.
"You don't have to babysit me at all. You could just leave town and leave me alone." I hissed.
"I do have to babysit you Elena, don't you get it. You're Klaus's human blood bag. I have to make sure that you don't do anything stupid to get yourself hurt or killed. I can't let you do anything that would jeopardize Klaus making his hybrids."
"Oh yeah, how could I forget that you are Klaus's little mind-controlled lackey and you just do whatever he wants whenever he wants. But I have a question. when he tells you to jump do you have to ask how high or is it just understood that you will reach maximum verticality?" I spat.
"You have no idea what you are talking about Elena. You never do."
"Well if I don't know anything then please enlighten me because I am so tired of going around in these circles with you. I just want things to be over and for my life to back to normal."
"Just let me do my job Elena and don't do anything stupid to get yourself hurt or killed. Also try not to make things any worse" He grumbled. Then he turned around and disappeared further into the house leaving the rest of us standing in the foyer.
"You really should be a bit more careful Elena." Rebekah spoke before disappearing to go join Stefan.
"Why did you let him get under your skin like that?" Damon asked.
"What do you mean Damon? I was just defending myself. You heard the things that he said to me." I countered.
"No Elena, you let him get to you and you let the things he said upset you. I just want to know if I should be worried." Damon wondered.
"Damon there is absolutely nothing for you to worry about. Stefan just really got on my nerves and you're right I did let him get to me. I shouldn't have let him get me worked up liked that. But there is nothing for you to worry about there. I love you Damon and only you." I professed to him. Then I walked over to him and kissed him.
"I love you too, Elena more than you will ever know" he said then he kissed my forehead and grabbed the box of stuff I still had in my hands and carried it up his room.
"Let's go to bed. We can get the rest of the stuff out of my car in the morning before we go to get all of it. It's been an incredibly long day"
"How about we go down and get something to eat then go to bed?" Damon suggested.
"Okay, that actually sounds really good right now."
