(Beacon academy)
Glynda Goodwitch Professor of Beacon academy was not having a good afternoon. There was a flying Atlas fleet outside the academy right now. James was here so there was that, and here she was looking over a report after Joel the police chief who was a good friend sent it to her concerning an incident involving an attempted robbery of a Dust shop. Usually this wouldn't have the need of contacting the school but Joel report said the robbery was stop by what look like a hunter on video, so Joel called her asking if it was one of theirs but seeing the video now it was most definitely wasn't one of theirs having I.D information on all there register hunters and huntress.
Watching the video now for a street camera, sometime last night a figure appeared in front of the store, and she means he literally appeared in front of the store from out of thin air. 'A Teleportation semblance?' she thought hadn't seen one in a long time since... no she was getting off track she had to take in details, looking closer at the video it seemed to be a big male at least over 6 feet she already knew he was male from witness interviews. He seemed to be wearing all black making it very difficult to see any other characteristic so all she saw was him entering the store.
According to the report by the shop owner, he had just reopened his Dust shop that day after another incident of robbery by the same local gang but was stopped by a Ruby Rose. This time a Large Man entered mid robbery and engaged the criminals disarming them in a quick but in a brutal fashion breaking a man's ribs, shooting a man his hand, and stabbing another in the shoulder before making a attempt on the man's life but was stop by the owner of the shop saying it was enough thank the man before saying he could leave.
(All criminals are fine and received medical attention on site)
Goodwitch frowned last thing they needed was a vigilante hunter running around at night causing problems who's out for blood. She was going to have to tell Ozpin about him, but she needed to finish the report.
The only information we do have is a sketch of the suspect mask describe by the owner and criminals. Goodwitch look over the sketch and what look back at her was a terrifying detail mask of a human skull with glass eye lenses with the right side looking to have three smaller lenses making it something to see.
Having everything she needed, Glynda decided that this was something Ozpin needed to see as she had gathered the report and made her way to his office.
-(With Corvo Streets of Vale)
Corvo had been walking the streets of Vale for a while now still not knowing what he wanted to do with himself besides gathering more information on this far more advanced world. Which had been going slowly even though the book he received had been helpful, but after the flying ships of Atlas that's what people had been saying around him. He was still unprepared if a problem arose for his previous action in that shop last night. Corvo had hoped not to have any trouble with the city law but after what he did he might be on a watch list or bounty paper like before... God he hope not, but there was something else that bother him it was what that scum said 'Do you know who are boss is he won't let this pass' Roman Torchwick if he remembered right, and if so that meant there was a gang leader of some kind who's rader he might be on as well.
"Fucking Stupid" he grumbled to himself, his action may bring trouble.
But what is there for an assassin/ spy master/ fail protector? Fighting was in his nature for years, always was from the streets of his youth to his old high ranking job of before. There was no one better than him, he was the empires best sword after all that title he earned a long time ago.
As Corvo was lost in his thoughts he found himself in the lower part of Vale. Gone were the big shops, and restaurant and towering buildings with people busy walking around. Now he was now in a quiet part with next to no people about, and what looks like small owned business here and there. Just how far did he walk? He couldn't help asking himself he looked around to see a small neon light sign only saying BAR and nothing else as it flickered across the street.
"I could drink" he really could right now with everything that's happened to him so far even if he didn't have money he'll work something out. With a nod to himself Corvo made his way across the street towards the bar walking to the door clearly reading PULL so that's what he did.
As he entered the bar he could see it wasn't too big of a place, but was most likely an old building he could tell from the worn down brick walls that made up the place with scratches and marks here, there, and around the place. It had three booths seating near one of the far walls and a few tables set up around the middle. Nothing looked too high grade about the place from what he could tell, but his entrance didn't go unnoticed.
The Bar had a couple of people inside for this time of day, but all the patrons were now looking at him making him think maybe this wasn't the best idea, but he was too proud to just be a coward and leave. So Corvo made his way to the bartender looking around with his guard high. He noticed that most of the people in the bar were one of those people with animal parts of some kind with tails, horns, and ears, so maybe he wasn't supposed to be here, but no turning back now.
Reaching the main bar he took a stool that was right in front of the bartender with another guy two seats to his left. He took a good look at the bartender. It was a woman that looked to be in her 30s. Long black hair past her shoulder sharp eye's more focus on the mug that she's cleaning with a rag than to acknowledge his presents. Kind of a short girl who looked to be about 5'4 wearing blue jeans and black T-shirt with an apron over that but her most descriptive was the two white cat ears she had top her head.
All around she is kind of pretty.
"Are you going to order something or just fucking stare" She said in complete elegant, but died tone voice eye's never looking from the mug she was still cleaning.
"Huh?" Best Corvo could come with at that moment.
"Are you fucking deaf? I said, What's your order?" Her eye's final turning stared deep into his.
"Four shots of Whisky" he needs something a bit strong.
Finally putting her mug and rag down she was quick to work pulling four shot glasses from under the bar while Corvo saw a white tail grab a bottle from behind her wrapping itself around the bottle and pulling it off the shelf. Now with glasses set she grabs the bottle from her tail pouring four full shots setting the bottle on the bar next to her.
Corvo picked up the first shot saying a small "Thanks" before gulping the whole thing down he felt it burn down his throat before going down to his stomach it tasted cheap but it would do the job. He let out a content breath feeling the first shot go down before he grabbed another and doing the same once again by now the other customers went to their own business only some glancing at him.
Corvo grabbed the third shot but instead of drowning the drink he took smaller sips before setting it down it was starting to taste a bit better now.
"You're not from around here are you?" The bartender's voice called out. Corvo looked up from his drink to see her back to cleaning the same mug from before. Corvo took another sip "What makes you say that?"
"Well you have that fish out of water look at you, and most humans don't come in here" that got Corvo attention "Is it a problem that I'm here now?"
"Fuck if I care as long as you don't fuck up my bar were all square".
Corvo finally finished his third shot. "I can agree with that. But you're not wrong about me being new to the city. I'm still trying to get an understanding of the place." The bartender finally stopped her mug cleaning, and set it down with the others before picking another mug to start cleaning "Not much to understand, keep your head down, mind your fucking business and everything turns alright at some point." Corvo grabbed his fourth and last glass "I might have already broken those rules of yours".
"Want to talk about it? It is a bartenders job hear all your dumb problems"
"Maybe if I can get your name before we talk".
"Just call me Liz everyone does"
"Alright Liz tell me do you have gangs around?" Corvo questioned "None really being a real danger, but they all answer to that sleeze ball Roman Torchwick" Liz then spit to her side where a small metal tap could be heard Corvo guessed a bucket. "No care for the man huh" Corvo asks, trying to get info on the man.
"Hell no! He's always putting the squeeze on us small business when we all are just trying to make a living" Liz fussed.
"I unde..." But he was cut off
"How you just got here right" Liz pointed out "So how can you."
Corvo took his last shot before addressing her "I've already ran into them last night" Corvo committed " A robbery". Liz had a slightly surprised look on her face " Well shit sorry to hear that how much they get you for?" At this Corvo chuckled.
"Nothing"
"Nothing?"
"Who said I let them taking a thing"
It took a moment for Liz to catch his meaning before having a smirk on her pretty little face "Give them a good beating huh? I like a man that can handle himself". Giving him a wink.
"You might be too young and beautiful for someone like me" Corvo jokes.
"And that's how you get free drinks"
Corvo chuckled enjoying the company. He tried to remember how long it's been since he's been to a bar drinking his sorrows away if only for a little while. Corvo tried to forget what troubles that may be awaiting him after he leaves this little peace.
But like always he'll be ready with blade, gun, and magic.
Maybe with one more shot of whisky as well.
-(Beacon academy Goodwitch)
Glynda approached Ozpin's office hearing voices inside one being Ozpin. and the other James Ironwood Headmaster of Atlas she had already buzzed ahead of time so she let herself in. Upon entering she saw both men enjoying a cup of coffee chatting before turning to her.
James greeted her "Glynda your back join us for a drink?"
"Yes, Glynda you really must," Ozpin agreed.
"No I have an important reason I'm here" Glynda then set here scroll on Ozpin desk logging in cause a number of displays to pop up "The Police Chief sent me a report about a troubling robbery of a Dust shop by locally gangs within the city."
"Oh dear I hope there were no injuries," Ozpin expressed.
"Yes but not the owner the robbery was stopped by a mask unknown hunter using extreme force on untrained criminals" yes they were stopped, but a well trained hunter and huntress knew how to restrain themselves when dealing with simple thugs.
Both James and Ozpin had set their drinks aside reading the report themselves "Extreme? He was ready to kill a man in cold blood" James committed "Even after all the men were disarmed".
"A Rogue Hunter then" Opzin said "Troubling" A Rogue Hunter was basically a mercenary who no longer answered to leaders, country or even company's but wandering for his or her own cause "So any leads?"
"Nothing but a sketch of his mask, " Glynda said before handing it to Ozpin. He looked over it with a detailed eye "A image of Death then is it" Opzin observed "He certainly is going for a message" Now done Ozpin handed the sketch to Ironwood.
He frowned looking over the sketch "Unsettling" James look over to Ozpin " Ozpin with your permission I can have my knights on search for this man"
"Absolutely not" Goodwitch cut in " You are not having your scary robots walk all through the streets causing confusion!"
"We changed that design. They look a lot better now!" James defended
"Not...the...point!" Glynda said, expressing each word.
"I have to agree with Glynda having your knights walk the streets would cause questions, so playing this a lot more quietly may be needed" Ozpin planned "We may need a hunter or huntress to work a more quiet investigation on this matter."
"Yes that could work, and I can have a list of candidates fitting the job within the day" Glynda agreed.
"Perfect" Ozpin praised "Now with that settled none of this is to leave this room understand." he received nods for both of them "Good".
(Bar with Corvo)
Corvo had been at the bar for a little while so it was starting to get dark, but Corvo was gaining small bits of information of this city from Liz mostly with some of the other customers coming around with light conversation of what to avoid for his own safety with some of it being usefully. But it may be time to move out soon to conduct his own intelligence gathering for his own use. Liz told him that the waterfront was an area to avoid during the night time, so he guessed that it was possibly one of their areas of operations. He thought of the idea to find the place, but was it even worth his time after all he was supposed to be lying low.
Corvo's thoughts were interrupted by the ding of the door. He looked over his shoulder to see four same dressed men all wearing white masks covering the top of their faces with black hoods, black pants and a white vest that had the symbol of a blood red wolf across the chest.
'What the hell?' Corvo thought to himself before hearing Liz in a whispered tone "Just keep your head down." taking her advice Corvo had turned back forward and looked down towards his drink with one hand sliding into his coat. The bar that had the sounds of conventions and laughs not too long ago was now silent hearing every creek of some of the loose floorboards as the men walked in towards the main bar.
"Can I help you?" Liz called out a bit of venom in her tone, not falling by notice of the men.
"Liz there's no need to be like that now, come on how long have we known each now" answered by a kind of high pitch tone who Corvo assumed was the leader of the group.
"Fuck off Terry and that mask ain't fooling anyone here now what do you want!" Liz, shouting a little annoyed by the men's presents but seemingly going unnoticed, walked up to the bar while he's men stood guard towards the middle of the bar. Terry pulled a stool that was next to Corvo before taking a seat. "I want you to reconsider my offer from last time you know to start supporting the White Fang be active" Terry offered.
"Just like last time Fuck off you squeaky voice rat" Liz instituted.
A "Ouch" could be heard from somewhere in the bar.
"I already told you I'm not getting involved with that crowd, so you can stop asking" Liz said with spit to her bucket .
"But were for the betterment of Faunus kind you realize that right?" Terry questioned
"If they gave someone like you a gun then like hell they are" Liz criticized "Now I have a real customer to deal with so how about you buzz off". Liz glancing towards Corvo, Terry turned his head towards Corvo looking the man up and down "Well let just ask him then. You! Buddy do you think the White Fang are doing what's best" Terry questioned but Corvo never turned his head in acknowledgment to the man before answering "No business of mine" was the short response Terry received.
"The hell you mean not your business we Faunus have to stick together right" Terry exclaimed but Corvo said nothing in response making Terry think for a moment "Unless you ain't a Faunus at all." Corvo finally turned his head to the man before saying "And if I'm not?".
Terry began to smirk "Then we may have a bit of a problem" and to prove his point Corvo had seen a gesture to his men all who took a step closer to Corvo.
"Can't we all go about our own business?" Corvo questioned, seathly grasping his sword from within his coat "Would hate to ruin anyone night." No one move the tension was thick in the air with not even the customers making a move Corvo tensing his muscles was ready for combat looking as if talking was over Terry had gotten up from his seat knocking it back making everyone move to action but before anything else could happen a large sound went off stopping all movements.
**BANG**
**THUD**
Corvo stopped mid raising from his seat looking down at the now unconscious body of Terry laid out flat on his back on the bar floors before forcing his eyes to look back upwards to the now metal bat wielding Liz whose face was that of rage before Corvo asked himself 'The hell that come from?'
Liz was piss now as she pointed her bat pass Corvo head to the stunned White Fang members "GET THE FUCK OUTTA MY BAR BEFORE I HOP OVER AND BEAT ALL OF YOUR ASSES!" she shouted, adding to her threat when her bat had spikes pop out it proving her point. (I'm not sorry)
In fear of the woman they quickly grab their leader by his legs dragging out of the bar and into the night. Liz let out a breath lay the bat down on the counter before saying "Everyone out were closed early for the night" no one argued with the woman before the customers began to step out the bar Liz had look at Corvo with a apologetic smile "Sorry about that none of that was your fault just bastards being bastards." But Corvo just waved her off "Not a problem."
She nodded before she began to close up, shutting the lights off the bar putting glasses away before Corvo offered to lend a hand in the clean of the place she accepted just wanting the work to be done.
(A little while later)
Both Liz and Corvo were outside the bar as Liz locked up the place for the night.
"Thanks for the hand I've usually have, help but she called in for the night for school" Liz explained.
"No problem" Corvo answered "Need help home?" he offered.
But Liz just shook her head "No need I'm just cross the street but thanks for the offer" Corvo nodded before wishing her Goodnight Corvo turning down towards the street beginning to walk away but Liz had grabbed his arm. "Don't be scared to come back, you hear?"Corvo smiled before nodding as Liz had let him and watched as he walked away before turning down another street. With him out of sight she made her way home for the night.
'Well that was eventful' Corvo summed up his time at the bar 'But not a waste of time' he thought he did learn a few things, and the company wasn't bad.
Faunus, The White Fang from what he gathered a gang of Faunus, Roman a crime lord, and the gangs that seem to be around Lower Vale.
Kind of reminded him of home and his time as a soldier in his young life fighting against the crime family's that used to have a choke hold on the poorer families like his very own, and even some of the nobles. It took time but they pushed the family's back if only for a little while anyway.
A thought began to form in Corvo's mind as he stopped his walk wondering. It wouldn't be very difficult to find the waterfront, and couldn't hurt to see if there really was any activity in the area, Corvo then stepped into a nearby alleyway. See it was clear he slipped his mask on and raised his hood before vanishing without a sound.
(Time Skip 1 hour and 30 min)
He was correct finding the Waterfront didn't take too long since it was still in lower Vale. So here he was on top of a construction crane that was overlooking most of the Warehouses where he's been watching for a while now looking for something that was….. off or too perfect and from what he could tell there was something active going on seeing way to many people this time of night. Activating {DARK VISION} and zooming in though his mask Corvo was able see past walls of buildings to see a large gathering of people in one of the Warehouses he decided that a closer look was required.
Corvo stepped off the crane beginning to free fall for a moment feeling the rush of air before choosing a location to {BLINK} and vanishing for a second before reappearing upon a large stack of shipping containers. Staying crouch low Corvo made his way down the pathway made by the stack containers once again activating {DARK VISION} and began to look around seeing no patrols around as he moved closer to his goal. 'Amateurs' he couldn't help think to himself before stopping at a large gap separating him from his destination.
He cautiously looked over the edge seeing a dimly lit entrance where an older man was standing by a door by his lonesome before a blond man who had a monkey tail, and a black haired girl approached the man before talking to him though Corvo was too high to hear anything. Focusing back on to his target he noticed the multiple high windows that surrounded the building he zoomed in to see a familiar sight seeing the same dressed thug from the guys at the bar. Who was standing on a high catwalk looking down at something so he guessed this was the right place.
But now he needed a look in for more details, his eye's forces on the lone unaware thug before an idea came to mind. 'I dislike doing this buuuuuut' he thought to himself.
Corvo was now using complete concentration, his tattoo mark on his hand began to get a slight glow before he whispered in the dead language of the void {POSSESSION}. The effect was immediate, Corvo felt his very being evaporate his mind becoming an unseeable force before it shot forward, but then nothing for a while in till a sudden shock made him open his eyes seeing a completely new surrounding building full of people all wearing masks with some having the White Fang symbol.
'Well it work' Corvo thought to himself getting use to feeling of his temp body for Corvo {POSSESSION} was always a strange ability even for him tho he can dominate the minds of weaker will people he had limited use of there body mostly walk, looking around, and a lot of basic functions for a short time, but the ability took bit out of him. But he needed to focus so Corvo looked down upon the crowd, and the first thing he noticed was everyone here looked like a Faunus, second was the stage set where a man in a bright, long, orange hair man dressed in a red-lined white suit with long black pants and black shoes. His accessories included a small gray scarf, black gloves with buckled sleeves, and a black bowler hat with a small feather tucked into its red band. Kind of reminded him of how some nobles dress back home.
The orange man was giving a speech, and from how much of it Corvo caught it was not great. As the man said murder all of the humans, and Corvo couldn't understand why they would want this or even what to do with this new information. But the biggest surprise of the night was when a banner of the White Fang that had been behind the man this entire time dropped revealing...
It was hard to describe for Corvo it looked like a heavily armed Tall Boy, but even that didn't do it justice it was enormous looking to be a hulking thing of war.
"May I present the Atlesian Paladin-200" with a wave of his cane he pointed towards the metal monster "Atlas new toy that I'm sure some of you had heard of but lucky for you all I have my hands on some before they hit the shelves so to say. So you all have a choice. Leave here go back to your normal life with humans pushing down for the rest of your lives or rally and be the one's doing the pushing for once. Which is it!"
There was a roar of cheers and the crowd raised their fist in the air symbolizing the will to fight. Corvo could only theorize that he was seeing the start to a street war the way these guys were talking. But it was time to go. Corvo could feel his control of the man start to strain.
But a loud gunshot went off before all the lights of the warehouse turned dark causing mass panic among the crowd. 'The hell an attack?' Corvo thought, forcing his mind to separate, ejecting his body next to the man he was Possessing. Corvo grabbed him immediately and slammed his head into the railing before he even realized what happened knocking him out cooled. Corvo grabbed his trusty blade from his coat popping it out from the hilt turning on {DARK VISION} once again looking into the crowd seeing two people coming towards his way too fast making him raise his guard. Confusingly both jump past him shattering the window behind letting the moonlight shine in illuminating the room.
Ooook that was strange.
"CLEAR A PATH" a booming voice shouts out.
Turning to stage the Metal Monster as he was now calling it began moving rushing towards his directions going straight to the wall and the catwalk he was standing on.
'Ahhhh HELL!' were Corvo's last thoughts using his void strength jumping straight up barely avoiding death as the monster broke through the railway and the wall like an unstoppable bull. Quickly acting Corvo {BLINK} across to the other side of the Warehouse catwalk near a window where a White Fang member was standing. He was startled by Corvo's appearance, but was quickly kicked out the two story window behind him, shattering the glass for a quick exit. After jumping out he ran fast after that putting much needed distance between him and the chaos that was behind him with one thought on his mind.
What was wrong with this place?
