Days turned into weeks, weeks into months, Aro never opened his eyes, deep in void his heart sagged. The pain of loss was a great sorrow in his heart. Carlisle always been in his side, never had he left, not for a second. Esme would be talking to the former Volturi leader even though his soul was wandering in the darkness. Bella and Alice would come into the med room to bathe, change, and fix Aro. Rosalie made his food and fed him through a straw into his nose. Jacob never like the man in the first place he hadn't got over the fact that Aro was going to kill Renesme and the Cullens after seeing him in bed for so long, all the hate turned into the sense of protection.
"How long is he going to be like this." The wolf asked the lion.
"I don't know, he still is mourning his wife." Edward replied.
"I heard she was a great person." Jacob said.
"Yes, she was. She was the one who shut Caius up and made him apologized to your tribe and others." Edward chuckled.
"Oh, oh right, that was funny." Jacob giggled.
"Shh, we must not startle him." Edward said in a hush.
"Right, sorry." replied Jacob in a whisper.
"Mm."
"Jacob." Edward said annoyed.
"What?" Jacob asked.
"Oo."
"Would you stop doing that?" Edward said.
"Doing what?" Jacob looked at Edward in the eye.
"Mm. Ma. Ow."
"Edward he's awaking, go get Carlisle." Jacob ordered and Edward rushed to the forest.
Before anyone could get back, Aro opened his eyes and saw Jacob.
"Um. Hi." The only word that someone confused would say.
"Ah, it's you. Renesme's protector and mate." Aro said.
Jacob at first didn't have a clue what to do, then he was checking on the machines and looking at the scream to see if anything was at miss.
"Where's Carlisle?" He promised not to leave my side." Aro said almost crying.
"Carlisle was not feeding and his eyes were so black that his family had to convince him to go out and drink." Jacob explained.
"He is." Aro said weakly.
"He never once left your side, he was here all night and day at the bedside wishing, hoping that you would wake up." Jacob said hoping that whatever he tell the poor man would be true.
"Well, he is a vampire, he has to feed." Aro understood.
"Yes." Jacob smiled.
"How's ah, Renesme?" Aro asked.
"She's growing too fast, healthy, well, very special." Jacob said.
Aro smiled at Jacob and reached out for him. Jacob took his hand, sure he had heard of Aro turning into a human but everyone knows that a dead man can't come back alive. When Jacob held his hand, it was warm not cold like a stone in winter. Jacob kissed the top of Aro's head for no reason but he wanted to.
"I'm sorry for your loss, my mother did not had the same fate but my father had gone through what you're going through." Jacob said.
"Who's your father?" Aro asked.
"Billy Black." Jacob answered.
"You're the son of the chief. Why the hell is Sam doing in your place?" Jacob chuckled.
"Honestly, I don't know, I'll kick his back to get my place." Jacob pronounced.
At then, the doors open and Carlisle came running at human speed, Jacob let go of Aro's hand to let Cullen do his work.
"Aro. How are you?" Carlisle asked. If he were human, he'd cried.
"Ah, mm. Weak." Aro said.
"What were you and Jacob talking about?" Carlisle asked looking at Jacob.
"He told me you were always at my side and never left, so your family, mm, your family had to convinced you to go and feed. Oo." Aro closed his eyes then opened them.
Carlisle looked at Aro then to Jacob, Edward and Alice stood by Jacob's side.
"I may of said a lot of nasty stuff about Aro, now I feel awful about it. I didn't knew what he was going through until Edward told me and I just felt the need to protect him." All the Cullens especially Bella looked at Jacob with nurture and kindness.
"It's alright Jacob you were protecting Renesme without knowing anything at all. We don't hold nothing against you and neither does Aro." Carlisle said.
"Ah. Carlisle? Mm. What will happen to me?" Aro asked a bit scared.
"You will make a full recovery and for that you'll have to be in bed, eat human food and drink water and juice." Carlisle replied.
"Mm." Aro closed his eyes.
"Hold up, not yet, you need to eat first." Rosalie said before rushing into the kitchen and Alice behind her.
"How's big bad boy feeling." Emmett asked.
"Mm. Ah. Weak. Still." Aro said.
"Yay he finally awake." Renesme beam with joy and jogged to Aro's side.
"Hey, how are you doing?" Aro smiled at her.
"Good." Renesme replied.
"It's good to see you awake after a long time." Bella said.
"How, oo, long have I, oh." Aro tried to asked.
"For nine months." Carlisle said.
"Don't worry about the Volturi, Didyme is leader now." Esme said.
Aro's heart swell with joy, he knew his sister would make a great and just leader, for all the Volturi love her and would do anything to protect her. At that moment, Rosalie came back with a tray holding a bowl of chicken noodle soup and crackers. Alice had bowls of fruits and goodies in her tary while Jasper was carrying two jars of water and mango juice with one cup. Setting all on the bed, Carlisle made sure that Aro ate at least half of the bowls and cup before he drifted off to sleep.
