Weeks pass and Aro was getting stronger and healthier, he was soon walking around the room, read a book without losing focus, eat the right amount of food, and drink without feeling burns down his throat. Bella, Alice, and Rosalie helped him change clothes and Emmett helped him bathe until he could could do it all by himself. Renesmee would often read with him, Edward would give him piano lessons, Jasper would teach him how to use a phone, and he'd be playing with Esme or Carlisle on chest. Jacob would take him for a walk through the woods, which he often did because it helps him get stuff off his mind.
One day Aro and Jacob were walking on the edge of their boundaries and the weather was cloudy.
"Do you visit your father?" Aro asked Jacob.
"Yes, not often though." Jacob replies.
"Why not? Is it because of the other wolves?" Aro asked.
"No that is in the past, it's mainly because I'm protecting you." Jacob said to Aro.
"Why do you protect me?" Aro was curious.
"I honestly, really don't know. It's like the need like maternal side." Jacob tried to explain his feelings.
"But you are not a mother Jacob." Aro pointed out.
"I know yet I feel the need to protect you." After the last word, Jacob stopped in his tracks. Confused, Aro turned to the spot he was looking at but then realized that Jacob was facing everywhere.
"What's the matter Jacob? Is there's someone else here?" He asked frighteningly.
"Looks that way, Aro get behind me." Jacob ordered and Aro obeyed.
In the mist, appeared many human shadows, then out of the for came the Black and the Uley pack. Leaha and the other members of Jacob's pack went to his side.
"Well, it's nice to see you again Jake." Sam the leader of the Uley pack greeted.
"Hello Sam, nice to see you to." Jacob welcomed.
"We need no aggressions just to know that you are still defending the Cullens." Sam informed.
"Sam, I told you once, and I'll say it again, Renesmee is my mate and you shall give her protection and happiness, that goes for the rest of the Cullens too. If you ever break that law you will be stirp from your title and outlawed." Jacob said way too calmly.
Then Sam looked at Aro who was staring off into space not really minding their conversation but holding on to Jacob's arm.
"Who is that?" Sam asked. That brought all the wolves' attention to Aro.
"He's with the Cullens." Jacob said.
"I seen him before." Sam said.
"Of course we seen him before he's the one whose coven wanted to kill Renesmee and the Cullens." Paul, third commander of the Uley pack yelled.
"What's he doing here." Sam demand.
"I don't have to give explanations to you Sam, I told you he's with the Cullens and that is all I will tell you." Jacob said firmly.
"He smells like a human." One of the Uley's member said.
Jacob said nothing and the whole world caught on to what happened.
"It's not possible!"
"He's dead."
"How can this be."
Jacob shielded Aro from their stares and gripped his forearm. Aro was scared to death, yes, he knew that these two tribes had eaten or rather ripped apart vampires yet would they do such thing to him now that he's no longer stone?
"Like I said he's with the Cullens, you could at least respect his life." Jacob said.
"Why would we not rip him apart!" Paul shouted.
That made Aro sequel almost a yelp, all too human and everyone heard it. Sam turns to Paul with hard eyes.
"Paul, never said that ever again." The Alpha warned his commander. "So he's human, how did that happened?"
"I cannot tell you Sam, only Carlisle knows and his coven had asked him to keep it secret." Jacob said.
Sam kept all members of the Uley in line, he thinks about it then nods at Jacob.
After Sam and his pack left, the Cullens came right in the moment. Carlisle ran towards Jacob who had Aro behind him.
"Aro! Are you alright?" Carlisle asked when he saw his friend relax and looking at his eyes, he was relieved that no harm had come to him.
"No worries my friend I'm fine. Jacob defended me." Aro said smiling.
Bella picked up Aro bridal style and carried him to her father-in-law's home. When they got there, Alice was there to give them bad news.
"Carlisle, it's our cousins, they want to come over and spend the holidays with us." Everyone was silent, no one knew what to do, The Denalis hate the Volturi and even if Aro is now human, they would jump at the chance to cause harm to him. Carlisle was very afraid for him, he was his friend but he also couldn't put him over family. He watched the trembling human holding on to Bella as she was his last defense in the world. Esme was heart broken, she was loving and caring towards the former Volturi leader yet family comes first. Then Jacob came up with the craziest idea.
"I can ask Sam to watch over him while we celebrate Christmas and new year's eve with your cousins." He said loud and clear.
Everyone looked at him like he just escape from the insane asylum. Then Edward thought about it and agreed.
"Carlisle, it's our only choice for now." Edward said.
"But they would ripped him into shreds Edward!" Bella yelled.
"I told him that he was with you, and they shall respect his life." Jacob said.
"What do you mean?" Rosalie asked petrified.
"Sam had agreed that his life will be respected and that no wolf shall harm him." Jacob informed.
"So they will not try to kill him?" Emmett asked.
"No." Jacob said firmly.
Carlisle may not like the idea but there was no other way. So he agreed.
Sam met Jacob by the riverside.
"I've heard. You need a safe place for Aro to be until the holidays are over." Sam said.
"Yes." Jacob said.
"Look, I have nothing against Aro but Paul doesn't want anything to do with him." Sam informed.
"Just take somewhere no one would think he'll be. Safe." Jacob said.
"When will he be?" Sam asked.
"Tomorrow early dawn, here." Jacob informed.
"I'll be here by then, and don't worry, I know how much Carlisle cares for him, I will protect him myself." Sam swore.
"Thank you Sam." Jacob said.
And they went their separate ways.
Jacob and Bella took Aro to the riverside and meet up with Sam and Jared who took Aro to their cabin. They fed Aro and covered the surroundings of the area with herbs to get rid of Aros scent. They made sure that no other members of the pack would find out that the former Volturi leader is in their territory. Then Sam help to fix and tiny up the inside so Aro would feel comfortable. Jared went and made sure no members were near. The sun was setting and it was time to leave Aro on his own even if it killed Sam because he promised he would watch after him, he considered staying the night with him but he thought that it wasn't appropriate.
"What is that?" Aro asked pointing at the dreamer.
"That's a dreamer Aro." Sam said.
"What's it's purpose?" Aro was curious.
"It's like a map, only dimensional." Sam answered.
Aro looks at Sam then at the bed where he would sleep.
"Does it have bed bugs?" Aro asked timidly.
"We washed it before going to get you." Sam chunkle.
"I didn't mean to-" Aro paused midsensetense.
"Not at all Aro, we joke like that all the time. Don't worry." Sam said.
Aro smiled at Sam and Sam smiled back.
"Well it's getting dark and I should get ready for bed." Aro point out.
"Yes, the bathroom is to your left and the kitchen to your right, please if there's anything please let me know now." Sam said.
"I don't like the feeling of being alone." Aro admitted.
"Do you want me to look over you?" Sam asked politely.
"Yes, is just that I don't want to be alone." Aro said.
"It's alright, I'll need talk with my companion and I will be back with you." Sam said.
"Thank you Sam." Aro said thankfully.
While Aro was in the bathroom, Sam and Jared were outside by the door.
"So you are staying with him and how am I going to tell everyone about your absences?" Jared asked.
"Tell them like always, I am talking with Carlisle on some matters. They never ask anything about that." Sam told Jared.
"Alright, if you say so," Jared look at the inside of the cabin then to Sam,"he's seems so innocent how that he is human."
"I know," Sam looked into the night then refocus his sight on the other wolf,"at first he seem very much like a murdering, old, creep, now he is much like a lost child."
"What turned him back into a human?" Jared asked.
"I don't know, not even Jacob would tell me." Sam admitted.
"We can ask Aro and find out." Jared said.
"No. Jacob only told me that he's with the Cullens and that's is what we will know, don't push it either. Whatever it was that turned him, must be devastating. We respect boundaries." Sam told Jared who nodded apologizing, the alpha nod in returned.
Jared drove back to the town while Sam stood outside to watch the stars. He never thought that he too would feel a strong need to protect this human who had come back to life. That same need that Jacob has towards Aro, was even stronger on him, how could this be? Had this warm vampire had a power or a spell to win the hearts of his natural enemies? Sam looked at the stars for answers but none were there. A small whipper that no human ears could detect but his wolf like sense picked up.
"Sam? Sam? Please don't leave no." Aro was inside and scared.
Sam ran into the cabin, before him was this human curled up in ball sobbing, almost crying, scared and alone. As fast as lighting, Sam was by his side cooing him. His jacket was getting damped and Sam saw that Aro was cold as stone.
"Shh, Aro it's alright, shh, I'm here I haven't left you." Sam held Aro.
"Sam, you're here. I thought you left me on my own." Tears were rolling down his cheeks, Sam felt a fist of guilt.
"I'm so sorry Aro I was outside watching the stars, I never met to leave you off alone." Sam explained.
"Mm. It-a. It's fine, is just that-that I didn't want to be alone, it was all." Aro was trembling.
"You're freezing, I need to get you dried and warmed up."
Sam picked Aro up and carried him to the bedroom, he got towels from the closet and scrubbed Aro until he was sure he was dried. He clothed Aro with the warmest and softest pjs. Went to the living room to set up fire in the chimney and then sat there with Aro in his lap. As he was sleeping, Sam hummed a lullaby to him, the same tune his mother sang to him. Will he ever know why he feels this protection towards this human?
