When Jared informed the elders of the tribe about Sam's whereabouts, Billy was the only one who was not taken as fooled. He had ask Jared to meet him at his house to talk about it and the young wolf agreed. Jared knew that Billy was hard to tell a lie so what's the point in not telling him the truth. When Jared told Jacob's father about what had happened to Aro the leader of the Volturi, Billy did not believe one single word, so Jared invited him to go to the cabin with him tomorrow and see it for himself, and he agreed.
At dawn, Jared knock at the door, Sam answered looking at Billy with a surprised expression. Sam had no choice but to let him in and tell him why was he really doing. Billy did not believe Sam's words, he thought they were bluffing on a really bad joke. When things couldn't get any worse, Aro appeared in the sight of Billy's eyes. Aro did not detected danger because he was not immortal anymore, Billy was in utterly shock and disbelief, Sam and Jared were not only telling the truth but hiding him for the Cullens from their cousins. It was not surprising that the Denalies wanted to hurt Aro but about his heart beating.
Aro looked at Billy curiously titling his head, when he talked to Billy, Billy was not believing the sound of his voice, it was like a child's song and prayer. Right then, Billy had the need to protect him from the danger. What danger? Billy told Jared to take him home leaving a confused Aro wondering what did he do wrong. Sam cooed him calmly, Aro had hated that but grew fond of him counseling as he were a child.
It was the third week of December when Carlisle and Alice went to visit the cabin in secret. Alice had seen in vision that Aro was curled up in a ball crying, when she told Carlisle about it, he was scared that he never had been ever since the Volturi had come to kill his granddaughter. Sam told him what was going on that night and it eased him that Alice's vision was justified. Aro was sleeping in the bedroom, Alice was making food, Sam and Carlisle were having a serious conversation.
"Seems like you are having the same feeling that Jacob is having." Carlisle said.
"It also seems that now he's a human, we need to protect him from any harm. Carlisle, do you know who can hurt or want to harm him?" Sam asked Carlisle with respect. "I also am sure that your cousin might want to..."
"Oh they have tried," Carlisle said turning his attention to Sam who was looking at him with wide expression, "when we were nursing him to health, they caught his smell and went to my room, Kate saw him and stood there looking at him, Tanya on the other hand, threw him across the room."
"Did they..." Sam couldn't finish his sentence.
"No, I intervene and told them to not to get near Aro ever." Carlisle sadly said.
"So that's why you send him away for the holidays, it must be difficult because he's your dear friend but we cannot put friends over family." Sam conclude.
"Yes, it is, especially when Aro needs my help overall." Carlisle said.
Right then, Aro comes in the living room yawning and stretching, when Aro sees Carlisle he smiles then runs into his lap.
"Carlisle you're here! How's the whole family?" Aro was gleaming with joy. Sam smiled at the sight of Aro's childish behavior thinking he was so innocent. How could this human ever became the cruelest leader of the vampire world.
"We are all doing okay Aro, how are you doing?" Carlisle asked his friend.
"I'm doing good! Sam never lets me on my own though." Aro respond.
"I am trying to look out for him more than ever, now that Billy knows." Sam told.
"He knows? What did he say?" Carlisle is concern.
"I said 'hello sir great to meet you' he only told Jared to take him home." Aro said feeling a bang of hurt.
"Billy couldn't believe what had happened to Aro so he went home, Carlisle, I'm afraid that I'll have to take him away somewhere else, I do not want to leave my pack or betray my people but this need towards Aro is getting greater, I don't know what to do?" Sam said.
"It's best that I go back to my coven, they'll protect me, even if I am human Caius and Marcus will be very protective of me than ever." Aro said with a point.
"But how, Carlisle can't leave his family to give you back and you know how much his cousins hate you I can't go because your brother, Kai-us? Hate my kind." Sam point out.
"Sulpicia had backed him off for good and he will respect her wishes now that... that she's... gone." Aro said gritting his teeth.
Alice came right in time to break off the tension.
"Aro, I made chicken noodle soup and mac'n cheese, your favorites." She called out.
"Gee thanks." Aro hopped out of Carlisle and ran into the kitchen after giving Alice a hug.
After Alice and Carlisle left, Sam and Aro went into the woods for a walk.
"Do you think that any others of your pack might be here?" Aro asked nervously.
"Nah, they are doing their holidays' party, they're are pretty much busy." Sam said.
"Maybe you should go and join them, I'll be waiting for you at the cabin," Sam stopped to looked at Aro, "I don't want you to miss out being with your dear one just so you can protect me, what would Billy say?"
"You do have a point, I don't think Billy would say anything, at least he didn't see you as a threat." Sam said.
"Did he?" Aro asked.
"No." Sam replied.
Just as they were beginning to walk, Paul and some other members of the pack came out of the woods into the path. Aro gets behind Sam.
"Hey, Sam where were you? Are you not planning to spend the holidays with Emily?" Right then Paul saw Aro hiding behind Sam, the Alpha stiffens.
"Who's that?" One of the members asked.
"Isn't he the human who was a vampire and is with the Cullens?" Another asked.
"What is he doing here Sam?" Paul was not at all happy.
"I'm just looking after him, he's with me." Sam said and his members were in disbelief.
"How can he be with you Sam? Wasn't he with the Cullens?" Paul asked.
"Their cousin are with them for the holidays." Sam said.
"Well that explains everything." A member said.
"But what about Emily? What does she says? Does she know about this?" Paul yelled.
"I had Jared tell her and I called her, she doesn't believe me yet but she knows that I'm watching over Aro." Sam explained.
"But why are you even protecting him?" Paul was shouting at this point. Want to tear Aro apart.
"Paul, stand back." Sam warned.
Paul walked towards Sam and the alpha grabbed onto Aro as he held onto him. When Paul looked at Aro closely, his eyes locked up to his, Aro's beautifully hazel-blue eyes looked into his dark ones.
"Please, don't hurt me," Aro spoke and Paul's anger came clashing down, "I'll leave you alone, just please don't hurt me or Sam." He pleaded.
"I-I, you. You have the voice of a child." Paul was so overwhelmed and could not believe his ears. As well for the rest of the wolf pack were in utter stunned.
As the clouds opened, a light came through to the very spot were they were at, everything same to stop in time. Aro looked around to see that the others weren't moving at all, he looks up into the clouds to see two figures in the skies, one male and the other female, they were taking. Aro could tell that it was about him because they were pointing at him. Then the male figure turn to him and as a loving way the winds blew forming a little, gentle, tornado hugging him.
"My love come quickly." Aro plead.
