Yylfordt made himself at home next to Findorr on the steps and the Crab opened the journal to the first page. "This book belongs to: Alair Grants. Odd. No middle name. But who needs one when you have three-no four names now. Anyhow, going on. Page one: The Third of March in the Year of Nineteen-Eleven. Oh… This is gonna be good… Nnoitra hasn't even set eyes on this yet… Hahaha… Now I shall read on: This afternoon was quite splendid in my own judgement. Ceion was away at yet another council meeting, leaving me to the house myself. So in my spare time before supper, I sat in the library reading-Hey, Yylfordt, I didn't know you had a library at this place."
"I don't think we did." Yylfordt already looked around the first floor and he highly doubted the two other doors upstairs contained a library.
"Anyhow. Onwards we shall read: Of course it were all too exciting. The adventures in the stories I ventured through. The text was literally leaping off of the page it were such a thrill. After I finished reading, I headed headed out for a walk to the River Thames to watch all of the ships arrive for I was so bored with playing the piano. Reminder: Go to the music shop for another song. And this is just kinda… funny."
"How so, Findorr?" Yylfordt was so pleased with the evil deed being committed in the moment.
"1. You have no library in this house. 2. Your brother got bored playing the piano so decided to go watch the ships come in? 3. Um.. Just a minute." Findorr pulled out his cellphone and in put something into the GPS. "The River from here is… twenty minutes."
"That isn't a far walk."
"By bus or car." Findorr stated. "I mean, he could have taken a carriage, but he said he walked."
"We weren't as lazy back in the day." Yylfordt pointed out.
"But looking at this house, you were about middle-class and I highly doubt a gentleman would dare walk that far. And it was March, so it was still frickin' cold outside."
"True. Shall we read on?'
"Not yet, Yylfordt." Findorr gave him the journal and crawled up the steps to the second floor. "I'm gonna open the other two doors upstairs."
Yylfordt glanced at the journal in his lap. "Go for it. I don't want to look n the other rooms."
"Fair enough." With that, Findorr walked down the hallway and threw open the other two doors and sighed. "Yylfordt. There is no library."
"Odd. Anyhow, do we want to read more?"
"Sure. I'm gonna wander around a bit more to see if I missed a room and you can just read really loud, okay?"
"Okay." Yylfordt hesitantly opened the journal and began to read again. "And so, where you left off was the end of the entry. Next. And this is a big, big time skip: The 14.5.1911. Our mother cared to call us over the telephone today. It was such an odd occurrence. There I was sitting in the basement and-Basement? Findorr.'
"Gonna go look, just a sec… checking out the master bedroom. Nice wallpaper. I love the green and gold."
"Thanks." Yylfordt sat back and brought the journal to eye-level. "So, sitting in the basement and I was busy in the library telephone gave gave me quite a fright and so, I picked up. Soon re my mother such a dear heart, but no brain. I couldn't talk to her long as I became bored, but d to inquire yet again if I had talked to Nora today.
I told I did to ease her heart as in truth I never talked to Nora as kind of man would want to talk to a woman he was being forced to wed by pents and once the ed, they would be forced to talk to one another constantly.
So, I pleased myself by ignoring the damn woman."
"Interesting method." Findorr crept down the steps past Yylfordt to search for the basement and library. "Go on."
"After I hung up the phone, I went to the kitchen make myself some food. Oh.. It seems we have no serv-wait. But the Maid insisted on making my lunch. Was fine by me as I the park and I soon headed home s too many people. I sat in my room reading again and laughed because End of Entry. Do you want me to read the next?"
"Yes!" Findorr called from the kitchen where he was sure there was a door to the basement. "Maybe he says were the Library is. Because, all I am finding are cupboards."
"Going on: the next one has no date. But reads: I thi n fl the libarary is rea odd byt the snow fall groun ge and I ju- Findorr. I can't even…read this."
"Why? Too dirty?"
"No, no!" Yylfordt glanced at the page of nonsense and turned to the next, and the next and - "You have to come see this. I can't even…"
He heard Findorr sigh and a few minutes later, the Crab walked up the steps and peered over his shoulder. "Wait… this…makes no sense…"
"And it's the rest of the journal." Yylfordt said, flipping to the last page that ended with: Ple ake s op. I n't o on. Ad y, I wnt ts felig to lat fover. "All this gibberish. And no other dates."
"Not even gibberish numbers?" Findorr suggested with a chuckle.
Yylfordt shook his head. "Nope. But maybe, just maybe there is another."
"Yeah…" Findorr sighed and took the journal out of his friend's hands. "In the nonexistent library in the nonexistent basement. Unless it's outside somewhere like a storm cellar."
"Maybe." Yylfordt stood and brushed the dust off his white pants and skirt. "I am just curious if there is more in that cranny."
"Nothing." Findorr said. "I checked. But that doesn't mean there aren't other hiding places. I personally live by the saying, don't put all your eggs in one basket. Not that I have any mini-crabs."
"That would take a miracle…" Yylfordt muttered and headed down the steps to see if the kitchen was really just cupboards.
While he was searching for the basement, Yylfordt listened to the sad sounds of Findorr slowly ripping the floor of his house up in search of another journal, letter, anything. "And I think you can give up now."
"But I haven't checked the upstairs bathroom!" Findorr called from the hallway where he was putting back another piece of wood.
"I don't think there is anymore to be found." Yylfordt left the kitchen and headed to the hallway where he found his twin covered head to toe in pond grime and dust from the interior of the manor. "We should go get a good night sleep as it is almost 1 am in New York and I am about to fall over."
"Okay. Go take a room upstairs and I'll keep looking."
"Findorr. I am not sleeping here."
"Oh. Sorry." Findorr marched over to the front door and opened it wide. "We go now. With the journal. And tomorrow, we come back here to finish our work." And finally get these two to talk to one another. Nnoitra should be headed this way about now as the time difference is always so strange.
So the two of them climbed in a cab and headed to find lodging for the night.
