Pain.
That was one of the first things she felt.
She shifted, trying to alleviate it, to no avail. She could feel the uneven terrain beneath her, the jagged rocks pressing against her back.
They are coming.
She felt a slight tug from the edge of her consciousness.
They are coming. They are not ready.
She furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. 'Who is coming? Who is not ready?'
You must protect them.
Her confusion deepened. 'Protect who? Who are you?'
Time is no longer their ally, nor is it yours. Go now. Defend them again what is coming.
Her confusion turned into alarm. 'What's coming? When?'
You will give them hope.
She felt the wind around her begin to blow. She felt intense light crashing against her eyelids, causing her to scrunch them up out of reflex.
She heard the strange voice once more.
You must give them hope!
And within a heartbeat, she felt nothing.
