Chapter 17
"You really think we should report on that Hollow"?
"Its of the best interest".
Night and Katsumi were walking in the Soul Society heading for the 1st Division. "But you already took it out. What's the point"? Night questioned.
"The fact of the matter is of the Hollow, defeated or not, is worth reporting", Katsumi said.
"But to the Head Captain? Isn't that a bit much"? Night frowned.
"There's something I need to confirm with him we might as well report while we're at it", Katsumi said.
"If you say so Im still new to all this so I'll follow your lead on it though I do have one question", Night said, an annoyed look appearing on her face.
"Why are you will still walking behind me"?!
As such Katsumi was indeed walking behind Night much to her annoyance Katsumi gave a sheepish look. "Its really out of habit Lady Night", she said.
Night groaned rubbing the back of her head. "Look I know you have to keep calling me Lady Night out of reflex I get it but come on you could at least walk next to me", she sighed.
"No promises Lady Night", Katsumi said with a smile.
Night gave another sigh yet smiled glad their relationship is finally getting better.
"Night".
Night and Katsumi turned to see Byakuya walking to them at once Katsumi bowed as Night faced him. "Hello Uncle Byakuya you're well I hope", she smiled.
"I am there is something I wish to discuss with you", he said.
"Oh I see", Night said surprised, turning to Katsumi.
"Katsumi do you mind reporting"?
"Yes its alright Lady Night I can handle it go on", Katsumi nodded.
Night nodded and walked off with Byakuya to the 6th Division seeing others watching them as they walked in his office closing the door. "So what did you wanna talk about Uncle Byakuya"? She asked.
"It is about your duties as a noble", he said.
She blinked gulping already having a terrible feeling in her gut. "My duties… As a noble"? She asked.
"That is correct you must not forget that you are a noble of one of the Four Great Noble Families as such it also means you are the heir of the Kuchiki Clan unless I have a child", he said.
"Wait heir? I was never told this", she said shocked.
"It is to be expected for after all you are my niece and the daughter to my sister which would mean you are to be the next head of the clan if anything were to happen to me", he said.
She grew wide eyed by this frowning. "Now wait just a minute Uncle Byakuya what kinda talk is that? You're not dying for a long time so quit it with that kind of talk", she said angrily.
Byakuya seemed surprised but to her surprise he gave a light smile tucking a stray hair behind her ear before caressing her cheek making her close her eye to his touch. "Forgive me but I only say it out of precaution", he said.
"As long as you don't keep talking like that its fine", she sighed.
"Very well", he said, moving his hand away.
"Now for what I wanted to tell you"-
"Hold that thought Uncle Byakuya", she said, putting up a hand.
He looked at her with a raised eyebrow as she walked to the door turning so her back was to the door and elbowed it harshly.
"ACK"!
*THUMP*
He blinked as she sighed shaking her head as she looked up at him. "Go ahead", she said.
He looked at her but didn't question as he spoke. "As I was saying what I wish to tell you was that will be a ball in the manor and I wish for you to attend", he said.
"Any specific reason why"? She asked with a slight grimaced.
"It'll be a way to introduce you to other nobles as such you will stay by my side unless otherwise", he said.
"Well alright I guess I can do that", she said.
"Good now I shall send the date to Katsumi Yukimura to inform you", he said.
"Understood Uncle Byakuya", she said with a nod.
"Then you may leave", he said.
"Have a nice day Uncle Byakuya", she said with a bow.
Night then left the office and glared at Renji and Isao who were sheepishly looking at her she only rolled her eyes with a sigh as she left the barracks and saw Katsumi walking over to her. "Oh Katsumi you finished the report already"? Night asked.
"Yes though the Head Captain said we should report it to the 12th Division as well", Katsumi said.
"The 12th Division"? Night questioned.
"The Science Division of the Soul Society they do all kinds of research there the Head Captain thinks we should tell them of it and for them to see the scar it gave you", Katsumi said.
Night touched her side where her injury was though healed it had left a scar. "But its healed", Night said.
"Its all out of precaution", Katsumi assured her.
"You guys are a bit paranoid", Night sighed.
"But fine I'll go since it was an order from the Head Captain".
"Great then let us be off", Katsumi smiled.
Night sighed as they walked to the 12th Division. "Now that I think about it I never really met the Captain of the 12th Division I wonder what they're like", Night thought.
Soon enough they reached doors to a very large building much to Night's surprise. "This is the 12th Division Barracks"?! She gaped.
"Oh no this is the Shinigami Research and Development Institution this is where the 12th Division conduct their work", Katsumi said, as they walked in.
"This huge place", Night said stunned, as they walked in the building.
"Oh you're here"!
Night looked to see a black haired and green eyed girl wearing glasses rushing to them. "Hello Katsumi-san and you must be Night Kurosaki! We've heard so much about you"! The girl said excitedly.
"Er well", Night began awkwardly.
"Back up Kuna give her some space".
Akon walked over to them Kuna stepped back. "Hello Kurosaki-san Im Akon 3rd seat of the 12th Division and vice president of S.R.D.I", he said.
"Nice to meet you and just call me Night no need to be formal", Night smiled.
"Of course follow me I'll take you to the examination room where our lieutenant Nemu will examine you Katsumi you'll come with me so you can tell me more of the Hollow", he said.
"Ok with me", Night said.
"Alright", Katsumi nodded.
They followed Akon down the halls of the building to reach a door. "This is the room Night just wait here until Nemu comes", he said.
"Ok got it", Night nodded.
Night walked in as Akon closed the door behind her as she looked around. "Huh reminds me of the room back at the hospital", she remarked, taking a seat.
"I wonder what the lieutenant is like".
Then the door opened Night looked up to see Nemu walking in. "Hello I am Nemu Kurotsuchi it is nice to meet you Kurosaki-san", she said.
"Pleasure and just call me Night there's no need to be formal", Night smiled.
"As you wish please show me your scar", Nemu said.
Night nodded removing the top part of her shihakusho and lifted her blouse to show her scar it was claw marked pink and slightly white as Nemu examine it. "Were there any abnormalities to the healing"? Nemu asked.
"Hmm… Nothing me or Katsumi noticed", Night said.
"Any sickness or fatigue"? Nemu asked.
"No none of that", Night said with a shake of her head.
Nemu got a clipboard writing down as Night lowered her blouse. "Any problem with your Reishi"? Nemu asked.
Night grew wide eyed rubbing the back of her neck. "Well actually my Reishi has been feeling a bit heavy", she said.
"Heavy how"? Nemu asked.
"Like it's a bit hard to swing my zanpakuto and its gotten a little tricky to use my kido now", Night frowned.
"I see", Nemu said, as she wrote down on her clipboard.
"Do you feel that heaviness now"?
"No not right now it comes and goes", Night said, as Nemu wrote it down.
"Alright I only need to take a blood sample then you may go", Nemu said.
"Oh sure", Night nodded.
Night put out her arm as Nemu got a syringe getting some of Night's blood and putting it in a bottle. "There you may go", Nemu said.
Night put on her shihakusho and walked out the room and walked down the hall to see Katsumi talking with Mayuri and Katsumi saw her. "Oh Lady Night you're done with your examination"? Katsumi asked.
"Yeah not too hard", Night said.
"Ah so you must be Night Kurosaki", Mayuri said.
"Er yes I am", Night nodded, blinking surprise by his appearance.
"This is Captain Mayuri Kurotsuchi of the 12th Division, Lady Night", Katsumi said.
"Oh! Pleasure to meet you Captain Kurotsuchi", Night said with a bow.
"Hmph good to see you have manners unlike your father", Mayuri said.
"Hehe yeah get that a lot", Night chuckled with a sweatdrop.
"Now I have learned from Yukimura here that you perform Jinzen regularly correct"? Mayuri asked.
"Huh? Y-yeah once a day at most", Night nodded.
"And do tell, do you see another in your Inner World besides your zanpakuto"? Mayuri asked.
Night grew wide eyed. "No I haven't", she frowned.
"I see", he said.
"We we better get going come on Katsumi", Night said.
"Yes Lady Night", Katsumi nodded.
The two walked off as Nemu walked to Mayuri. "Here is the chart and blood sample Master Mayuri", Nemu said.
"Very good Nemu", Mayuri smirked.
"Now let us see what makes you tick Night Kurosaki".
