Chapter 9: Home free part 1
She came to a breathless halt in front of the birch door, her body trembling, this was it, finally after two years she had returned, she'd come home.
In the living room of her old house they stared at her completion lost beneath makeup and revealed by tears.
The first to notice was Asriel who shot up and crushed her in a hug her sobs lost within her hair. "Bella! I thought you'd never come back. I'm so glad you're alright and I kept hoping that you'd be alright and you are and you've brought friends and- I knew you'd come back..." tears reddened his Green eyes and she brushed them away with a gloved thumb.
"...My child...? Is that really you...?" Toriel didn't believe her eyes as she reached with trembling paws towards her child as if needing to confirm her solidity and existence.
"It's me mom, daddy, I'm back." Bella-Anne wrapped her arms around her shaken parents and breathed in the thick scent of golden flower tea and snail pie.
When they finally loosened their grip Bella gestured behind her to her friends who stood in the open doorway awkwardly. Frisk waved shyly to the monster king and queen while Chara's eyes were glued to Asriel.
"Why didn't you tell me you had such a hot brother?!" Chara asked gesturing to Asriel as if he couldn't hear what she'd exclaimed. He ducked his head and hid behind his ears muttering a golly, shucks and wow.
"Because he was still awkward when I left. Mom, dad, Asriel; this is Chara and Frisk my friends from the surface. Frisk, Chara these are my parents and brother. " Bella smiled softly, nuzzling closer between her parents.
After her outburst Chara kept quiet but Frisk bubbled with more questions than could be translated. "It's such an honor to meet you all! Bella talks so highly of you! Is your fur as soft as she says? Are you really hundreds of years old? Do you eat meat even though you're goats? Is that out of line? Do you bleat like other goats? Do you really have claws and fangs? Do you have magic? Can you really make fire? Could you teach me that? "
Questions continued to bubble from Frisk for what seemed like hours before things settled down and Bella-Anne got a chance to become reacquainted with all her old friends.
Once small talk was over she began explaining her plan from their breaking into the underground.
"-So what I'm thinking is that maybe we can take some of you through the barrier and prove to the people that you all are smart, funny, charming, kind, and amazing you all are. If they met you I know they would see. So I'm thinking is that Frisk you'll go with mom if that's alright with you guys and Asriel you can go with Chara. I'll go with... I don't know yet but I'll go with some-"
Before she could finish, Papyrus had stood gallantly and announced. "I, the great Papyrus, shall be your escort fair princess and ensure you are kept safe! Or I am not the greatest expert on spaghetti cookery and royal guardsman in training to have ever lived!"
Bella-Anne chuckled and nodded, oh, how she'd missed his zealous outbursts.
"Are you even sure that it's safe? Perhaps I should go with you my child?" Asgore questioned uncertainty woven into his tone.
"Daddy, nothing will go wrong, I promise. We'll all be safe and come back in one peice." Bella chuckled, pushing away her father and standing up from the table.
The six of them stared up at the barrier with every monster close behind them ready to be freed.
Asriel trembled as the power tingled his fur, a low golly escaping him.
"Remember when we were little and would play here? And I'd ask you to take me through because you always told me that a strong monster could cross?" Bella-Anne asked softly stepping up next to him, her pale hand intertwined with Papyrus's red gloved boney hand as his grin faltered in the pulsing glow of the barrier beating against them.
Asriel chuckled nervously. "Yeah...Dunno why you thought I was a strong monster though..."
"You're my big brother, Azzy, of course I am always gonna think of you as strong." Bella smiled and then added. "Even if I know I'm stronger than you."
He had to join her in brief laughter at this as it was bitterly true.
"It's time to go everyone... I promise we'll break the barrier and free you all." The princess of monsters said looking to her procession before taking that first step forwards towards freedom.
The atoms of their bodies spilt then rearranged as they crossed into the surface world.
At first the monsters were overwhelmed by the sheer beauty of the clear night sky. But it turned to shock, confusion, and panic as a group of hundreds of humans surrounded them some concerned, others indifferent while a select few were furious armed with weapons never before seen to the monsters.
Murmurs rose about the crowd and washed over them.
"I knew that girl was strange."
"Look she's next to a skeleton."
"Maybe it's an elaborate Halloween prank?"
"I wish it was but I don't think so."
"Look at how tall they are."
"...We should take them out now while we have a chance."
"Someone call the government to handle this..."
"Let's get them."
"Kill the monsters!"
"Wait! Please they mean you no harm." Bella-Anne spoke out to the crowd, careful of the words she used as the masses became uneasy about them.
"I know that these are good monsters because I grew up with them and they raised me. They showed me that everyone deserves mercy, even the worst of us."
She went to continue but was cut off by the over zealous skeleton. "NYEH! Yes humans! I, the great Papyrus, believes there is a good person in all of us if we just try."
His words rang true but upset the crowd and those with guns took aim. "PAPPY NO! THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND!" Bella screeched racing towards the long legged monster as many more guns lined up to kill the smiling bag of bones.
Thinking not about herself or the guns cocked and aimed at his skull, Bella-Anne raced before him and pushed him out of the way the exact second a gunshot splintered the crisp autumn air chanced the crows from nearby trees barren of leaves.
"NO!" Those who loved her screamed as the shot pierced with sickening precision, both humans and monsters stared in shock at the girl with a hole trickling blood at the center of her forehead.
DUN-DUN-DUUUUUUN!
Oh I am awful.
Do you know that I have had this chapter planned since the second chapter along with Bella-Anne's demise.
Perfect execution if I don't say so myself.
Ok never mind that joke was worse than Sans'... well this is awkward...I haven't done this in a while so...
Review...?
Also should I try and create a better cover for this? Like the one it has but should it be something different?
Anyways review please.
