YOU'RE WHAT!
Disclaimer: The Cullen's, the Swans, and most of the characters mentioned in the story that are known from Stephanie Meyer's beloved Twilight Saga, are all hers and hers alone. I neither have nor wish to pass them off as mine. I do appreciate the fact that she did bring them to life and allows us to play with them in our imaginations. The only thing I will claim is the current storyline.
The awesome and talented dowlingnana searched out my errors and corrected them.
"You do realize that by changing where we're going is likely to stop the girls from showing up since they might be expecting us to appear at one of our usual places." Jasper pointed out.
"What the hell. Let's have fun tonight and see who we can land for the night." Were the snarky comments coming from Edward. Suddenly, his dark mood started to lighten up.
Too bad Edward, Emmett and Jasper were likely to be eating crow before the night was over.
CHAPTER 8: RESOLUTION OF DOUBTS
Dinner finished the three female agents were taking their time lingering over after dinner drinks as they were awaiting a call that would notify them of the evening's plans. It's during this time that Rosalie brought up the ghost point that each woman wanted to talk about, but, was hesitant to be the first to introduce the topic.
"We really need to discuss and then rethink our approach as to who we will be pairing off with." She started and then paused without looking at her two friends. It was as if she was afraid of seeing their reaction to her statement.
"You're right, Rose, we do need to reconsider that approach. Are we really so unsure of our abilities to concentrate on keeping our charges safe that we have to doubt ourselves when it comes to the question of who we're forming up with to be a couple? I don't think so." Alice contributed.
"My sentiments exactly. If we're doubting ourselves and our ability to stay alert enough to keep each of our charges safe then we might as well resign. It means that we've lost our edge." Bella commented in agreement with her two friends. Then continued, "And, I don't feel like I've lost anything, but, a bit of sleep since meeting these guys.
"But, if you two feel that we can be our best with joining up with the one that we have an attraction, then, I'm in agreement that we go with it." She finished at the same time as the phone began to ring. She answered it and just listened without offering a single word in return.
Once the conversation was over she closed her phone and turned to Alice and Rosalie. "Looks like our guys are out and about tonight, but, not to their usual haunts. They are going to a new club and from the a few overheard comments from the guys Mr. Cullen isn't sure that any of us are present to keep them safe." She told them with a bit of a laugh.
"Damn, little do they know just how many agents from different departments that we have at our disposal are assigned to keep them safe. But, I guess if I was in their place I would be wondering as well." Remarked Alice.
"That's not the real point here, Alice." Rosalie commented before Bella could say anything in reply to Alice's comment. "We met with them; spent time with them explaining how things would go down and the timeline we would be working with. So, why are they doubting if someone is watching them?"
"I can't say, but, you'll have the chance to ask in a short while." Bella told the two other women. "I think we need to get ready to make our move and be on the lookout for the blonde bombshell. If she shows up at the club they are visiting tonight then we can be sure that she is after them and working for the other side.
"That will also prove that we have a leak in one of the departments, otherwise, they shouldn't know that we have witnesses this early." Bella finished.
Not knowing what their charges might choose to do for the evening the three agents dressed in a semi-casual mode for dinner, but, now knowing that the evening was calling for clubbing the three knew a change of clothing would be in order. So, with plans to meet up outside of the club the guys would be attending each agent went their own way home to get ready for what might be a very long evening. Of course, with all of the possibilities that came to mind as well they each knew to dress and be prepared for any eventuality.
As soon as they entered the club and looking around the three knew it wasn't time to approach the guys yet. They headed for a table to the side and towards the back of the club, but, close enough to keep watch over their charges and intervene if it became necessary. It hadn't taken them long to locate the three once they had entered and that was what had determined the choice of tables to be near just in case, but, far enough away so they wouldn't be spotted right off by the guys.
They kept close watch over their charges, but, at the same time appeared to be just three friends out for a good time. Each would dance with a man that would approach them from time to time with the offer of a drink or a dance. The ladies would have appeared out of place if they had spent the whole time refusing any of the advances that kept coming their way.
Things seemed to be going along pretty well until Cullen, Whitlock and McCarty appeared to be getting ready to leave. The night was still young so it was apparent that their charges had the intention of going to another club as they didn't seem to find any one woman that held their interest in spite of all the lovelies that approached them that looked as if they were wanting to tie up with anyone of the guys for the night.
As they had kept an eye on the three guys the three agents had noticed that at times Cullen seemed to be arguing with Whitlock and McCarty during their visit at the club. Bella assumed that it was the same complaint as what she had been told earlier about him not believing about the security detail keeping a close watch on all three. Little did they realize that they were constantly watched and never left alone, and, the people that needed to be put into place at the businesses had already been handled as well as with their families.
Bella, Alice and Rosalie had spotted the Marshalls and some of the other FBI agents being in place scattered around the club when they had first entered the club. And, now, the same agents were observed by the three female agents to be getting ready to leave with the three witnesses. But, Bella, Alice and Rosalie made no move in preparation to leave as well to keep from drawing attention to themselves. However, it was as the three witnesses and then the agents that were directly behind the witnesses all had moved forwards towards the door that Bella, Alice, Rosalie, Uley and Maxwell, all saw what they were halfway expecting to see: the strawberry blonde along with a couple of the guys that had been with her the night before at one of the other clubs.
During the whole time each group had been at the club none of them had noticed the blonde enter the club, but, there she was just as sure as each of them were. The only conclusion they could draw was that she had been there before any of them had arrived. This fact brought the question to mind as to why she hadn't tried to approach them during the whole time the guys had been in the club. What had held her back? What game might she be playing, or, is she waiting for further orders from someone? And, if so, who?
Of course, Bella, Alice and Rosalie felt they knew the answers to that question. They also felt that they would have had the answers to all of the questions being asked if they had been the ones investigating the case, but, that wasn't their area of expertise. Protection was where the three excelled and that was why they headed up their own division within the bureau and had at their command, when needed, other law enforcement agencies. So, when Edward, Jasper and Emmett had been told that Bella, Alice and Rosalie were the best of the best of the most elite it wasn't a lie, they were that good at what they did.
Seeing that Edward, Jasper and Emmett had cover from some of the other agents that were watching over them and were preparing to leave right behind the guys, Bella, Alice and Rosalie by unspoken mutual consent stayed behind to watch Blondie's actions. They wanted to see exactly, if at possible, what she might be up to or planning that involved the guys. Maybe, by keeping a watch over her would lead to some answers that would help to keep the witnesses safer.
They watched as Blondie turned to the two men she had been sharing a table and the conversation appeared to be a bit of a heated one. It carried on for a matter of about fifteen minutes before one of the two men pulled out a phone and dialed a number. In a matter of seconds the call was answered and the man spoke to the person that was on the other end of the call. It was a swiftly conducted call and after it ended the man turned back towards his two companions, Blondie and the other guy seated at their table, to tell them what had been discussed and decided. It wasn't long after that that Blondie shook her head, looked at both of the men and rose, gathered her things and left the club.
As she was on her way out Bella got the call notifying her of the next club the guys had gone to and where they could be found in the club. Bella told Alice and Rosalie and it didn't take them long to leave the club and go to the next one which happened to be one of the three clubs the guys had been at the night before.
Walking in the three agents hesitated, looked around to locate their charges and the other undercover team members before spying a table in the same area as the guys, but, was directly across the room from them. It gave a clear view of all that was happening around them without any apparent problems; that is until three men were seen at a table near their charges, but, back a ways behind them.
Alice was the first to see a woman approaching the table where their charges were seated and told Rosalie and Bella what she had seen. All three looked directly at their charges to see if they were able to identify any threat to the men. And, it didn't take the blink of an eye to see that the intruder was Blondie.
She was approaching Emmett first and that was the cue for Rosalie to go into action. She made it over to Emmett just as Blondie was about to take a seat next to him while she was busily running her fingers up and down his arm while caring on a silly sounding conversation with him. But, before she could take the seat Rosalie said, "Take your damn hands off of my man, bitch!" That caused three heads to snap very quickly in Rosalie's direction as she slid into the seat Blondie was about to take.
Not being deterred the woman moved her attention towards Jasper, but, with the same effect coming from Alice. The only one left was Edward, but, before Blondie could make a move in his direction Bella was there in a lip lock that put an end to Blondie making a move on him.
To say that all three of the guys were surprised would have been an understatement. But, a pissed off strawberry blonde stalked off without so much as any further words being said.
Bella, Alice and Rosalie watched as she marched back towards the three guys seated further back in the shadows of the club, she quickly grabbed her things and hauled ass out of the club without a backward glance at anyone.
The three guys she had marched over to did remained for a while longer and then they left as well.
Of course, Edward, Jasper and Emmett all had questions running around in their minds, but, were to stunned to be able to formulate any words to ask any of their questions.
A/N: Blondie got closer to the guys and Bella, Alice and Rosalie made their move. What is running through each of their minds at the moment with the sudden appearance of the FBI agents Edward was doubting if they were even around watching?
