"My grudge, my anger, my grief, I feel, it'll fade before it can be heard, like it never existed. Nothing of me will remain, because of a mistake, a cell division gone wrong, the immune cells that should have defended me, have ended me. I chose to fight and I lost. When I die this world will be happy that I'm gone, it's not fair that I was born in the first place."

"I accept defeat, only for today."

Cancer Cell closed his eyes for the final time.

When he opened his eyes, he was Kaworu Nagisa. A secret weapon in the form of a child. His new body had none of the extensions he had had when he was microscopic. No, he was more powerful than that. He was the soul of Adam. Humanity's reckoning.

Kaworu grew up with his caretakers fearing him. Never able to choose for himself, always forced to be silent. Everytime he talked, it was from a script. His life was not his own.

So when Kaworu was told to break into the Central Dogma, he had no other option but to comply.

Shinji in EVA Unit 01 barreled through the underground levels, until finally, he crashed into Kaworu and the hijacked Unit 02.

"You're late, Shinji." Kaworu taunts.

All Shinji can do is release a guttural scream, continuing to beat up Unit 02.

Kaworu explains that he and the EVA were both of Adam, and since Unit 02 had conveniently withdrawn its soul, Kaworu had every opportunity to merge with it.

Shinji continues his onslaught. All while the two Bio-Mechs and one Seventeenth Angel descended through Nerv.

"WHY? YOU BETRAYED ME!" Shinji screams, over and over, as he beats up Unit 02.

And finally, Kaworu reaches his goal. He had failed in a past life, but he wouldn't fail today.

Humanity's fate, mans hope is lined with sorrow. The Terminal Dogma. The Call of Adam could finally be answered.

Except, this wasn't Adam.

"Lilith? So that's it. That's your plan Lillin."

Shinji finally beat Unit 02 to the ground. He picked Kaworu up in his hand. He just smiled serenely.

"I finally have a choice, Shinji. I could die right here in this moment. For me, there is equal value in life and death. Choosing to die, the one and only choice that no one can take away from you."

"What?" Shinji asks.

"Oh nothing, just some final words."

"When I die this world will be happy that I'm gone, it's not fair that I was born in the first place."

Shinji thought of the final action.

It seems that your past life can have an affect on your present life.

Kaworu Nagisa was no more. Cancer Cells accepting his defeat gave Kaworu the push he needed to make his own choice. After all, Kaworu was the Seventeenth Angel, Tabris, the angel of Free Will.

AN:

-And that's the end! The dialogue was taken from Episide 7 of Cells At Work and Episode 24 of Neon Genesis Evangelion. I went through both episodes painstakingly to capture the dialogue, the dialogue can be quoted directly to both of the shows. (I watched the English Dub so I could get the exact English words, I know I know, such disgrace)

-I hope you guys enjoyed this oneshot, until the next story my friends!
