Disclaimer: The Cullen's, the Swans, and most of the characters mentioned in the story that are known from Stephanie Meyer's beloved Twilight Saga, are all hers and hers alone. I neither have nor wish to pass them off as mine. I do appreciate the fact that she did bring them to life and allows us to play with them in our imaginations. The only thing I will claim is the current storyline.

Charlie thanked the man and resumed his silent position beside Bella's bed. He sat and silently watched over her as he allowed his mind to wander back into the past as he had watched his little girl grow into womanhood.
CHAPTER 30: STAGE ONE: BEGINNING THE REVEAL
While Charlie was allowing himself the time to stroll down memory lane, Sam had found a place for the upcoming meeting to take place. And, Edward was quietly taking the time to find out precisely why his parents had come to see him.
Alice had been able to speak with him unobserved and told him that they needed that information for a very important meeting that was about to take place. Edward had asked, "Is this concerning our situation?" And, without hesitation, she had answered, "Yes. However, Edward, the reason why your parents showed up could contain information that would help to tie some of our information together. We just won't know until we hear what they might know or have seen."
As Alice was talking with Edward, Rosalie took the time to explain things to Emmett and Jasper. Although, neither woman knew exactly what was about to happen other than the quiet warning that Charlie had whispered to them before he went to visit with Bella. They did know that something big was about to happen due to the efforts that were being done by Sam and Felix.
Also, after a bit of conversation between Sam and Felix, they decided, even though they hadn't been able to speak with the others as yet, to call AGA Black. It was time to bring him completely up to date and it was then decided that it was also necessary to fill in Det. Norris as to the true nature of the situation of what has been happening. So, those two calls were made, and the two men were on their way with a lot of questions and expecting a lot of answers.
Of course, Sam and Felix had made the decision to call Black and Norris without getting the clearance from the agents in charge, but, they felt it was better to tell the information once instead of multiple times. That's what both men had discussed with Charlie upon his arrival at the hospital.

"Mom, Dad, your arrival was a surprise, but, I have to say that I'm glad you're here. However, I'm a bit concerned about something that you mentioned. Something about some strange happenings back home. What did you mean by that?" Edward asked his parents. He wasn't sure what they could have meant by that information. And, he definitely couldn't understand how any of that could possibly be tied into what was happening to him and his two friends, Emmett and Jasper.
Edward was concerned about how his parents' information might tie into the current situation, but, he was also glad they had made the trip to be with him after what had happened to Bella. He knew they wanted to meet her, even though, they had talked with her several times on the phone. Facing the real thing was a lot more preferable to them than a voice with no face. It was hard, under those circumstances, to be able to imagine what the individual might look like.
Emmett, Rosalie and Alice listened quietly as Carlisle and Esme explained to Edward what strange things they had been talking about. It seemed, that from time to time, they would return home and find some things moved around. On other occasions, they thought their mail had been gone through. There had even been times when a strange car would be parked close enough to their home that they had the feeling of being spied upon. "Oh, don't forget the time or two that we each thought we were being followed." Esme tosses out as an afterthought.
Without thinking, Alice quickly asks, "Do you have any idea who might be doing this, or, the reason why it is being done?"
Shaking their heads 'no', both Esme and Carlisle state they have no idea about what is going on. "To tell the truth, we can't say for sure that it's really happening, or, that it has anything to do with us." Carlisle reminds her that it was said that 'it seemed as if these things had been done'.
"Yes, we understand you saying that, Mr. Cullen. But, doesn't it seem weird that each of you would be thinking that these things would be happening if it was a trick of the imagination?" Rosalie asked while trying to maintain a calm exterior.
Both of Edward's parents looked at Rosalie and then over to Alice with puzzlement being evident in their expressions. However, it was Esme that voice her wondering thoughts first, "Why should any of this be important or have any sort of effect upon you two? We were just answering Edward's questions, but, it seems to have caught your interest as well."
And, before any further questions or comments could be made by anyone else, Carlisle was quick to fire the loaded, but, unspoken question up to this point, "Why is Bella in the hospital? And, why is the police involved? There seems to be a lot of unnecessary activity going on over a simple accident like what your mother and I assumed was the case, Edward."
But, before an answer could be reasonably thought of or spoken, certain activity was taking place out in the hallway. Looking out, Alice saw both AGA Black and Det. Norris talking quietly with Sam and Felix.

"All right, Uley, why was I called down here?" AGA Jacob Black was demanding in a voice that he was having a very hard time trying to keep the volume in hushed tones and showing signs of barely having control of his temper. The man appeared as if he was about to have a childish temper tantrum right in the hallway of the hospital.
Of course, Det. Norris had a similar question; he wanted to know what had been withheld from him. Also, he wanted to ask why it had been withheld. Questions with the same theme were flying from the two new arrivals while Sam and Felix were trying to calm them down enough to be able to get some answers delivered, but, to no avail since Black and Norris weren't showing any signs of shutting up.
Alice stepped out of the waiting room and approached the four men, but, just stood there listening to the nonsense that seemed to be pouring forth from Black's and Norris's mouths. When it seemed that the exchange of questions was about to take a turn towards shouts, Alice stepped up and made it known that such behavior wasn't in the best interest of any of them.
They all quieted down, but, looked at Alice with different expressions. Sam and Felix wore the expressions of amusement, but, Jacob Black and Det. Norris wore expressions of annoyance because of the interruption. But, Det. Norris was the one that was first to demand, "Ms. Brandon, why are you interrupting a discussion that has nothing to do with you? What gives you the right to tell us to shut up and learn to have some patience?"
Those questions even caused AGA Black to back up a moment since he was very much aware of who Alice was. However, before he, Sam or Felix could come to Alice's defense, the lady spoke up for herself. "Det. Norris, I'm going to cut you some slack, not much mind you, but, some, since you've been kept in the dark about this whole situation. But, if you ever speak to me or my associates in that manner again, I will personally teach you a few manners as to how to speak to people, no matter who they are."
Being stunned into silence, all the detective could do was to stand there looking at Alice with a shocked expression on his face. When he did begin to recover he seemed to have problems finding the words he wanted to say. Instead, he was doing a lot of sputtering and stammering before he could manage to say, "How dare you! Who are you to tell me how to conduct my investigation? And, come to think about it, what do you mean about I've 'been kept in the dark about this whole situation'?" Then he suddenly burst out laughing because of the absurdity of an individual under five feet tall, lean built and a woman to boot, standing in his face telling him that she would teach him some manners.
But, before Det. Norris could say anything else, AGA Black quickly spoke up and warned the man, "If I were you I would keep my mouth shut until all of the facts were known. Because, believe me, at the moment, you don't know a damn thing."
Now, that shocked everyone present; it came out of the blue from the person no one was paying any attention to at that time. As Jacob Black realized that all eyes had been turned in his direction, he felt like a bug being inspected under a microscope. He didn't know how to turn the attention from himself and back to Alice. But, Alice came to his rescue by turning to Sam and Felix to ask if a place had been located for the upcoming meeting that was going to give them the privacy that was going to be needed. The answer was swift in coming, "Yes."
"So, I take it that we are just waiting on Charlie to begin this meeting?" Alice asked as she looked at both Marshalls.
That was when AGA Black spoke to ask, "Is there any way that we might be able to get him to come on and let's get this meeting underway?" That was when four heads swung in his direction with four set of eyes staring at him as if he was some alien. Three of them couldn't believe that someone of his knowledge of the affair would come off sounding so callous about the circumstances they were currently dealing with.
However, before anyone could utter another word for or against something else, Rosalie happened to step outside into the hallway to see what was keeping Alice so long. She saw the four men and Alice, standing in what she could only say were like defensive positions and she wondered why. And, it didn't take long for her to demand to know what was going on; what the problem might be. Alice didn't hesitate to fill her in.
Once Alice had finished speaking, Rosalie turned a death glare on each of the men. It took every bit of control to keep each of the four men from taking a step or two back to make sure they were out of the line of fire of the blonde bombshell that was standing before them. It was hard to imagine that someone of Rosalie's looks could deliver such a look and receive such a reaction, but, she did.
In fact, although, they didn't say anything, both Sam and Felix noticed that Black and Norris had twitching arms that they were trying to control. And, because of observing this Sam and Felix were having a problem trying to keep from laughing at the other two men. It seemed that twitching was due to Black and Norris were trying to keep from reaching downward to protect a certain highly valued region of the male body.
The twitching continued for a couple of minutes as Rosalie was facing them down, and, the two men breathed a sigh of relief when the lady turned her attention back towards Alice. However, before either woman could speak, Edward stepped out into the hallway and was going to speak, but, just as quickly changed his mind. He was feeling a bit unsure if he should be saying anything at that moment or not because of all the tension that seemed to be rolling off of the small group.
As curious as the two Marshalls might be about what Edward had found out from his parents, they knew that that moment wasn't the time to question him, or, to have him reveal any information he might have gathered from them.
No one knew what to say to break the silence, so, they all remained quiet with Edward, Alice and Rosalie going back into the waiting room.

Even though it was only a short while later that Charlie exited Bella's room, it seemed like hours to some of the others. The first thing he noticed was that Sam and Felix had made some calls and there was a hell of a lot of tension, the strength of which an ax might not be able to cut through, hanging in the air. It surrounded Sam, Felix, AGA Black, the one newcomer who Charlie assumed was the detective assigned to Bella's case, Alice and Rosalie.
All he could do was guess that someone had said something wrong to one of the two ladies and was immediately put in their place by either Alice or Rosalie. But, then again, it could have been both of them. He doubted that they would have given Sam or Felix time enough to handle whatever the problem was.
So, acting as if he didn't sense anything being off or wrong, Charlie walked over to Sam and asked if everything was arranged. The answer was yes, so, Charlie said they might as well get things laid out, that way the appropriate action could begin.
"The appropriate action can begin? What are you talking about? In fact, who are you?" Det. Norris opens his mouth and demands, not realizing that he is about to put his foot in his mouth, as the saying goes, once more.
The attitude the detective was displaying towards someone he doesn't know and the way he's handling himself begins to explain a lot to Charlie and is causing him to want to go on the defensive against this police officer. However, Charlie is reasonable enough to understand that the poor man doesn't have a clue as to what the rest of them have been involved in doing, or, the reason why. It's for that reason only that Charlie is cutting the man some slack.
"My name is Police Chief Charles Swan and the young woman that is in that room happens to be my daughter. Now, as to answer your other questions, I'll say this to you, be patient for a bit longer and you'll have the answers to these questions and a lot more than what you realize you should be asking.
"So, before you say anything else I'm going to give you some sound advice, shut the fuck up. Wait until you have all of the information before you open your mouth again." Charlie gave Det. Norris the advice in his stern Chief voice.
"Well, if we're going to pull everyone into the meeting then we need to do something to keep Cullen's parents from jumping to the wrong conclusions." Sam commented as he glances into the waiting room.
"I'll handle it, everyone go along with me." Edward said as he begins asking each person what they wanted to eat. He had produced a piece of paper and was quickly making the list. Once he had most of the information, he stepped into the waiting room and finished asking Jasper, Emmett and his parents what they might want.
Then he turned to his parents and asked them if they would mind going to get everything. "I hate to ask you, but, with the police officer in charge being here and wanting to ask all of us some more questions concerning what happened I'm afraid that none of us can get away at the moment."
Carlisle and Esme quickly agreed to go without realizing that they were missing an important meeting.
Once they had left, it didn't take long for Sam to get everyone gathered in the empty room he had found for their meeting. With the door closed, Sam begins by telling Det. Norris, "We'll fill you in on more details a little later, but, let it be enough at the moment to tell you that Edward, Jasper and Emmett are federal witnesses to a murder and are being protected by Bella, Alice and Rosalie with the support of the U. S. Marshall's office.
"AGA Black is in charge of this case. And, before you do ask why I haven't given too many last names, let it be enough to know that it is for security reasons that I don't.
"Over the last several weeks we have been keeping these three gentlemen safe until all of the evidence had been gathered to be able to bring the Volturi brothers to justice." Sam did pause at this point when he noticed the look of surprise on Norris's face.
"This is what all of you have been holding back? Where does that leave Chief Swan? How is he involved in all of this, other than being Ms. Swan's father?"
Before Sam could answer, Charlie did offer the answer. "I got word about my daughter being hurt, so, I caught the first flight and flew out here. And, I have certain friends that I can contact that help me when needed.
"It was during the gather of the information of where my daughter might be being held that I came in possession of the information of who was leaking information to the Volturi and it seems they have been doing this for some time."
It was this last statement of Charlie's that caused everyone to look at him in stunned surprise. And, it was Black that recovered the quickest to ask, "Who?"
"There is a police officer that has a son working in the AG's office. It is the son that is supplying his father with the information needed concerning certain cases. Then the father gets the information to the Volturi."
"Someone on the force? Tell me who the dirty cop is and I'll have them dealt with immediately." Det. Norris demanded.
AN: Charlie has given his information to the surprise of everyone. However, he hasn't given any names as yet and that is going to cause a big stir.
Hope you will enjoy this story and will let me know your thoughts, ideas and comments as we move forwards.
