"I will now explain the contest rules." A giant KaibaCorp blimp was hovering all over Domino city. Some may have been intimidated when the blimp was broadcasting Seto Kaiba as he explained the rules. "Those who come here are all chosen by Kaiba Corporation, as level 5 or higher duelists. The Duel Disks on your arms are proof of that."
Lucas, who was standing near central plaza with little Jaden by his side, looked at his Duel Disk. He then looked around his proximity, taking notice of both a vast number of people wearing Duel Disks, as well as the amount of Duel Energy being emitted. He's not kidding, Lucas thought to himself, All these guys must be powerful duelist if their Duel Energy's so heightened. But with so many duelists, it makes you wonder; Lucas looks back at his Duel Disk, then back to the blimp. Where are we going to duel?
"The stage of this tournament," shouted Kaiba. Lucas felt as though Kaiba was able to hear his thoughts, which is highly unlikely "... is the entire town of Domino city!" Many people who wore a Duel Disk began to talk among themselves, curious as to how an entire city could become the stage for a child's trading card game. "No matter where you are in the city, if two duelists come face to face, you may fight!"
"Looks like we are going to be walking a bit." said Lucas. He turned to Jaden and asked, "Hey Jaden, you packed your water bottles, right?"
"Uh-huh," responded Jaden, looking into a bag he was carrying. The bag had about 3 or 4 water bottles, as well as Jaden's Deck Box. "I'm pretty sure I brought enough water for the day."
"Each Duelist will use a 40 card deck! The loser must surrender a rare card of the winner's choice!" Kaiba must be referring to the Ante Rule. "In this Battle City," Kaiba continued, "...as you win, your deck will become stronger and stronger!"
That being said, said Jackal. The more duels you win, the stronger your deck will become.
And when you've made it to the top, continued Yubel, Your deck might as well be the strongest deck in the world.
Keep in mind, Lucas responded. I can't just throw in a brand new card after every win without any deck maintenance. I need to make sure my deck can still be consistent after each win.
"Only eight contestants participating in the Battle Royale will make it to the Finals!"
"Are the finals also taking place in Domino city?" asked Jaden.
"As for the location of the finals... its location is hidden somewhere within the city! Because I plan to enter this contest along with everyone fairly, even I don't know where the Finals will be held." Everyone began muttering, conversing whether or not to face Kaiba right off the start.
"Before we get started," Kaiba continued as he raised a transparent card with what looks to be a puzzle piece in the center, "...take a look at this plate." Lucas, as well as many other duelists raised their plates. "This plate is a Puzzle Card. When all the Puzzle Cards are gathered, a map of Domino City is revealed." The image of Kaiba changed to a simulation video with six Puzzle Cards showing, each one stacked on top of the other. "The Puzzle Cards have a special prismatic coating. If you stack any six of them, a light will shine in a certain spot on the plate. That spot is the location of the Finals!" The screen changed back to Kaiba, "And there's one more rule; The winner of each Duel will get their opponent's Puzzle Cards. Only those who collect six puzzle cards can reach the unknown location of the Finals!"
"But what if more than 8 duelists get these Puzzle Cards?" Asked Lucas, half expecting Kaiba to answer his question.
"Now, let the Battle City begin!" Well nevermind then, thought Lucas. "Duelists! Scatter across this city and locate your enemies!"
The people that surrounded Lucas began to scatter and started to look for their opponents. Lucas and Jaden started off, trying to figure out who to duel first.
"Hey Lucas," asked Jaden, "Are we going to find Jacob first?"
"Well," Lucas responded almost looking upset, "Jacob and I agreed that we would wait until the finals to face each other. So we decided not to meet up today and hopefully see each other at the final eight."
"Oh ok!" said Jaden, not noticing Lucas's sad expression. The little boy was paying attention to the big group forming not too far from where they were standing.
…
Jacob was walking down a street just as soon as Kaiba began the tournament. Walking towards some weird guy making a scene in front of a classy Cafe, yelling at a man on his computer, Jacob muttered to himself: "I wonder where Lucas and Jaden are. It would have been a great if we tried challenging people together. We would have made it to the Final Eight for sure."
As Jacob took notice to whatever the commotion was about, he saw that the guy sitting at the cafe, drinking his cup of tea, was wearing similar clothing to that of the Rare Hunters him and Lucas had met a few days prior. As he was getting closer to the big crowd being formed by this angry blondie(Not the same crowd that Lucas and Jaden were walking towards), determined to challenge the Rare Hunter, a voice called out to Jacob.
"Jacob Den."
Jacob turned to see an alley, and from said alley, there was a second Rare Hunter signaling Jacob to follow him into the alley, away from the large crowd. Jacob followed the Rare Hunter, not noticing another boy with large, spiky hair stepping up to the Rare Hunter challenging him to a duel instead.
…
Lucas was lost in his thoughts. Jackal and Yubel were floating not too far behind.
I wish he wasn't involved with what Ishizu told us, said Yubel, who then took notice of Jaden wandering towards the crowd. Jackal, who has yet to notice Yubel following Jaden, continued floating behind Lucas.
I wish it didn't came down to Ishizu's vision, continued Jackal. You should be enjoying this tournament. You shouldn't be upset.
It can't be helped, continued Lucas. You saw what Ishizu showed us. So that we can find the guy who stole the Pyramid of Light, there's just no avoiding-
"Hey Lucas!" shouted Jaden. Lucas was surprised to see how far Jaden had gone without him noticing. Yubel was floating by Jaden to ensure his safety, although, Jaden could not see Yubel. "Guess who's dueling over here!"
Lucas gave a little grin, trying to hide what it is that troubled him. Don't worry about it, partner. If this will help both you and Yubel, then it's what I have to do. Lucas walked towards Jaden, leaving Jackal's spirits behind, in concern for Lucas.
But I wish the outcome would not affect you so drastically, said Jackal, who began floating towards Lucas, Jaden, and Yubel.
Lucas came up to Jaden, wondering what it was that started this crowd. When all of a sudden, you could hear some girls screaming with excitement. This taking Lucas by surprise, he turned to see a recognisable blondie who was in the middle of a duel with a not so recognisable character.
"Gilford the Legend! Attack the player directly!" yelled Lance, pointing towards the duelist. Just by him posing made girls scream with excitement.
"Oh my god, he's soooo cool!" screamed one girl.
"Who is that guy?" yelled another girl.
"Isn't he that barista from that cafe on fifth street?"
"Do you think he has a girlfriend?" All these statement were being said. There was probably only 3 or 4 duelists in this giant crowd.
What's weird, Lucas thought to Jackal and Yubel, Is that he is just naturally charming. Unlike Jacob who's a big flirt, Lance hardly thinks about flirting.
Does he get nervous just like you? Said Jackal.
"Gee thanks!" said Lucas. All the other girls turned to see Lucas and then stepped away slowly due to them being "freaked out". Lucas's face turned red with embarrassment.
"Who are you talking to, Lucas?" Jaden asked.
"Don't worry about it," said Lucas who was just done with everything. Lance's duel had finished and he had earned his second Puzzle Card. He turned to face the audience, and asked: "Would anyone else like to challenge me?" When he said this all the girls began screaming at the top of their lungs. Lucas was getting tired of this so he was about to step in and challenge Lance, when all of a sudden, a girl burst in from the crowd. She too was wearing a Duel Disk. She was probably 5'5", brown eyes, beige cargo pants, a dark green tank top with a beige, long sleeved jacket, and she had long brown hair braided down her left shoulder, with a yellow bow at the end, holding the braid together.
"I'll duel you!" shouted the girl, almost scaring the other girls off.
"Tyra?" Lance responded, "I didn't know you liked to duel."
"Yeah, well maybe you'd know if you had shown up." Tyra muttered under her breathe.
"Did you say something?" Lance asked. Tyra gritted her teeth, furious as to the lack of attention Lance gave her.
"Let's duel!" Tyra shouted angrily.
"Duel!" shouted Lance. Lucas stood in the crowd, but now, with Jaden, had a better view of the arena. More duelist began to come over wondering why there why there was such a crowd.
"Geez," muttered Lucas.
"Don't worry, Lucas," said Jaden, looking up at him. "Maybe you can duel him after."
"Huh? Oh, yeah. I'm sure I will," responded Lucas. That's not what I said geez for, thought Lucas, who was seeing Duel Energy flaring with rage from Tyra. It almost seemed to have effected her Duel Disk. Perhaps this was Lucas just seeing things, but he believed he saw small sparks coming from her Duel Disk. Lance's energy also impressed Lucas. It was a mass of energy but it was sharp and clear, as if the energy was honing itself, sharpening edges, preparing to strike. With the exception of what Lucas have seen in the past, the two duelists had a large amount of Duel Energy emitting from themselves.
"That's if Tyra will let him off with only one duel." said a female voice to the right of Lucas. Lucas turned to recognize another face he knew from school.
"Aqua," said Lucas. The girl walked over to Lucas. She had ginger, curly hair. She wore a lime-green tank top, with a long sleeve, ocean blue shirt. She was a bit less than 5'. She wore baggy pants that matched the color of her long sleeve shirt. The thing about her long sleeve and pants was that they were not of thick material, so they seemed to keep Aqua cool in the heat. "You and Tyra are joining Battle City too?"
"No, we just felt like walking around town wearing these state of the art Kaiba Corp watches," said Aqua sarcastically while raising her arm revealing her Duel Disk.
"Nobody likes a smart aleck," responded Lucas.
"What's a smart aleck?" asked Jaden.
"Someone who likes to bother me, Jaden." said Lucas glaring at Aqua. Aqua glared back, but then reverted her attention back to the two duelist. So did Lucas and Jaden.
Lucas stood closer to Aqua, curious as to what she had meant about her earlier statement: "So why would Tyra not let Lance off with only one duel?"
"Well…" Aqua began explaining but was interrupted by the commencement of the duel.
(Turn 1: Lance 4000 Tyra 4000)
"Ladies first!" shouted Lance.
"I draw!" Tyra drew her card from her deck. She immediately placed the card on her Duel Disk. "I summon Kabazauls, in Attack Mode!"(ATK 1700) A card appeared onto the field, and with it, a stream of steam appeared and out came this red, bulky dinosaur. "I set one card Face-Down. I end my turn!"
(Turn 2: Lance 4000 Tyra: 4000)
"Draw!" Lance held the card in his hand, and placed it underneath his last three fingers, and then picked a card from his hand and placed it on his Duel Disk. "I summon Field-Commander Rahz, in Attack Mode!"(ATK 1600) Lance then placed the card he held into his Spell and Trap Card Zone. "Next, I equip Rahz with the Equip Spell; Lightning Blade!" A sword appeared before Rahz. Rahz reached for the sword and aimed its edge towards the dinosaur. "This raises Rahz's Attack Points by 800."(ATK 2400) A spark of electricity shot out of the Lightning Blade and hit Tyra's Kabazaul.
"What's happening to Kabazauls?" exclaimed Tyra.
"Sorry, but when I equip Lightning Blade, all WATER monsters on the field loses 500 Attack Points." Kabazauls(ATK 1200) lowered its head when Rahz raised his sword higher. "Now Rahz, attack Kabazauls." Rahz began to charge towards Kabazauls and with one slash, Kabazauls shattered into pieces. Kabazauls was destroyed. "I end my turn."
"Urgh." exclaimed Tyra
"Basically," Aqua continued. "Tyra's mad at Lance for standing her up."
"They were going out?" asked Lucas.
"Not exactly," said Aqua. "But one day, Tyra, being the forward person that she was, went up to Lance and asked if he wanted to go watch a movie with her. Sure she was a bit nervous, considering the fact that she did not like wearing her school uniform(black long-sleeve buttoned up, white dress shirt, silver bow tie, gray skirt), she asked Lance out. Lance said that sure he would like to go watch a movie. Later that night, Tyra waited for Lance to show up at the theater, but he never did."
"Wow," exclaimed Lucas. "That doesn't sound like Lance at all. Sure he's a bit slow when it comes to girls, but he would never not show up somewhere if he made arrangements to go."
"I tried to calm Tyra down but she didn't want to listen. And when she heard Battle City was coming around, she knew she would have a chance to get back at Lance for standing her up. 'I'll make him regret the day he stood me up,' she said." said Aqua.
"Hey Lucas," said Jaden. "Is Lance a bad guy?"
"I'm sure there's a good reason as to why he didn't show up." responded Lucas.
(Turn 3: Lance 4000 Tyra 2800)
"I draw!" Tyra looked at the card she drew, placed it in her hand, and placed another card onto the field. "I Normal Summon Black Brachios, in Attack Mode!"(ATK 1800) A black Brachiosaurus appeared and glared down Lance's monster. "When Black Brachios is Normal Summoned, I can change the Battle Position of one of your monsters to Face-Up Defense Position!" The Brachios eyes glimmered a bright, grey light, which caused Rahz to fall onto his knees, trying to hold himself up with the Lightning Blade(DEF 1200). "Now, take this pretty boy! Brachios, attack Rahz!" The Black Brachios charged at Rahz, destroying it in the process. Lance raised his arm as he blocked the shards that were scattering everywhere.
"I activate Rahz's special ability!" Lance placed his cards in a pocket on his shirt, pulled his deck out of his Duel Disk, "This lets me add one Level 4 or lower Warrior-Type monster from my deck to the top of my deck," he pulled a card from his deck, revealed the Marauding Captain card, shuffled his deck and placed his card on top of his deck, which he then returned to his Duel Disk.
"I set one more card Face-Down. I end my turn!" shouted Tyra.
(Turn 4: Lance 4000 Tyra 2800)
You know I can't shake the feeling that Tyra is mad about something, thought Lance. Maybe I can ask her what's up after this duel.
"I draw!" Lance drew his card. And places a card into his Spell and Trap Card Zone. "I activate Pot of Greed!" A big green pot with a very happy face appeared. "Now I can draw 2 cards." Lance drew his two cards, and then placed another card into the Spell and Trap Card Zone. "I then activate the Equip Spell, Premature Burial! I pay 800 of my Life Points(LP 3200) and equip this to a monster from my Graveyard. That monster is then Special Summoned. Come on back, Field-Commander Rahz!" Rahz reappeared onto the field. "I end my turn!"
(Turn 5: Lance 3200 Tyra 2800)
"I draw!" I just don't get it! Thought Tyra, Why didn't he say anything about not showing up?! Why say yes if you're not gonna show up?! If you didn't want to go, you could have said no! I swear guys like you piss me off. You say you'll be there, but don't even make it or tell the girl why! Well I'm gonna show you! Don't mess with my heart, Lance!
"I activate my Premature Burial!" everyone (who's a duelist and not a fangirl goggling Lance) gasped or shocked at what had just been played.
"Hey Lucas," said little Jaden. Lucas's eyes widened a bit looking at the card Tyra had in her hand. "She just played the same card as Lance… Lucas?"
Lucas was staring at Tyra, as her Duel Energy became more fierce. There was a lot of Energy being emitted from not only her body, but from her hand a card was flowing more Duel Energy into Tyra, and although there was no energy being emitted from her deck, a card that was probably the second card from the top, from Lucas's perspective, was surrounded with lavender-colored electricity.
That's new Lucas thought to Jackal and Yubel. I can see a card from her deck being surrounded with electricity.
Electricity? Responded Jackal.
I don't see any electricity from her deck. Explained Yubel.
But its-
"Lucas!" said Aqua nudging Lucas.
"Hmm?" Lucas responded.
"Are you okay? Jaden was talking to you and you weren't listening."
"Yeah!" said Jaden, "I thought there was something wrong, Lucas."
"Oh," responded Lucas, he knelt down to Jaden, putting a hand on the little boy's shoulder. "I'm sorry, Jaden. I was just thinking about something."
"It's okay," said Jaden. Just then, Lucas's phone was ringing.
"Oh its your mom and dad, Jaden." said Lucas.
"Really?!" Jaden asked surprised yet happily. Lucas asked Aqua if she could watch Jaden for a bit. Aqua said sure, and Lucas walked away from the crowd to be able to take the call.
In terms of the duel before Lucas walked away:
"I'm bringing back my Kabazauls!" shouted Tyra, and in a stream of light, a red Dinosaur arose from the ground. "I will now tribute my Kabazauls and my Black Brachios," Tyra picked her two dinos from her disk and sent them to the Graveyard. She picked a card from her hand and placed it on her Duel Disk, "I Tribute Summon the Ultimate Tyranno!" A massive Tyrannosaurus arose from the ground, letting out a menacing roar.
Lance let out a whistle in astonishment. "Now that's what I call a Dinosaur," said Lance.
"Ultimate Tyranno," shouted Tyra. "Gobble up that field commander!" The Tyranno rushed in and raised Rahz up with his teeth, and with a tight pinch, Rahz shattered. "I end my turn."
(Turn 6: Lance 1800 Tyra 2000)
"Draw!" Lance drew his card and thought I can't use her ability, but I need a monster to protect my Life Points. He placed the card Face-Up horizontally onto the Duel DIsk. "I summon Warrior Lady of the Wasteland, in Defense Mode. I end my turn!" A phone was
Ringing from the crowd and a boy in a red vest tried to get out of the crowd to answer his phone call.
(Turn 7: Lance 1800 Tyra 2000)
"I draw!" Tyra placed her card in the Spell & Trap Card Zone. "I activate Graceful Charity! This lets me draw three new cards," Tyra looked at the cards she drew, "and then I can discard to cards from my hand." Tyra sent Dark Triceratops, and Gilasaurus to the Graveyard. She grinned as she looked at the card she had just drawn, the card which Lucas saw was electrifying. "I attack your Warrior Lady with my Tyranno!" Just like before, the Ultimate Tyranno charged at the Warrior Lady, and chomped it into shards like it did with the Field Commander.
"I won't be using Warrior Lady's effect," said Lance.
"I end my turn."
"Why didn't Lance used Warrior Lady's effect?" Jaden asked Aqua.
"He didn't use his monster's effect because of Tyra's Tyranno," Aqua responded. "The Ultimate Tyranno's special ability is to be able to attack all of the opponent's monsters, once each." Jaden was shocked to hear such a powerful ability.
"Not to mention," Aqua continued, "Warrior Lady could only Special Summon a monster with 1500 or less Attack Points IN Attack Position. Which means that if he were to Special Summon another monster, it would only be destroyed by her Tyranno, and Lance would be taking more damage than he should."
"Wow," shouted Jaden. "And Lance knew that already? Dinosaurs are so cool! But I'm still rooting for you Lance!" Lance waved shyly at Jaden, thanking him for the support. Tyra got angrier when Jaden was rooting for the ditcher. At this time, Lucas got back, telling Jaden to remind him about something he has to tell the little fellow after the duel, in case he forgot.
(Turn 8: Lance 1800 Tyra 2000)
"I draw!" Lance drew his card and let out a little smile. "Well what were the odds. I activate my Graceful Charity!" Lance drew his three cards, and discarded two of his cards. "Now I Normal Summon Marauding Captain!" a blond-headed soldier appeared placing his sword into the ground. "And thanks to his special ability, I can special summon one monster from my hand. I Special Summon Gearfried the Iron Knight!" in an instant, a black knight with white out lines appeared onto the field.
"Both of your monsters are still not strong enough to take down my Tyranno!" shouted Tyra.
"I don't need both of my monsters!" shouted Lance with a smug on his face that Tyra wanted to smash in. "I only need the one. I activate my Spell Card, Release Restraint!" Tyra was shocked with what she was hearing.
"What's that!?" asked Tyra. In this moment, Gearfried began to glow, radiating with an immense shine. This light became so bright, it became almost blinding. People were shielding their eyes from this immense glow.
"Release Restraint is a Spell Card that awakens the true power of Gearfried! When he wears his black armor, Gearfried does not require any weapons. For if you were to hand him a sword or shield, he would throw it away, letting his foes know that all he needs is his black armor to strike down those that oppose him! What many do not know is that Gearfried is an incredible swordsman that if given a sword, he is for certain to take out any enemy no matter the size! This is Gearfried's true form!" From Lucas's perspective, Lance's Duel Energy started to grow as he placed a new card onto the field.
"Gearfried the Swordmaster!" As the light dimmed down, a topless man wearing bandages around his arms stood on the field in place of the Iron Knight. He had a blue cloth around his waist being held by some sort of belt.
The crowd, especially the girls, and Jaden who was excited, were cheering Lance on. Tyra was more concerned with Gearfried's newest form. "And now," Lance continued, returning the attention to him, "Let me show you Gearfried's power. I equip Gearfried with the Legendary Sword!" The second Gearfried held his sword, he dashed towards the Ultimate Tyranno, and in one slash, destroyed this gigantic dinosaur.
"What happened!?" exclaimed Tyra. "You didn't tell your monster to attack, and my Tyranno was destroyed!"
"Its Gearfrid's special ability," responded Lance. "When I equip him with an Equip Spell, I can target and destroy one monster you control, without having to declare an attack. Now Battle Phase!" both Gearfried and the Marauding Captain raised their blades and took aim at Tyra.
"Lance is going to win!" Jaden shouted. He looked up at Lucas an Aqua who were smiling. "What? What is it?" asked Jaden.
"Tyra's not going down that easily," said Aqua. Jaden was trying to figure out how can Tyra get out of this predicament. It wasn't until he noticed Tyra pressed a button on her Duel Disk.
"I activate my Trap Card: Survival Instinct!" Tyra's Trap Card flipped Face-Up. "Survival Instincts allows me to remove from play all Dinosaur-type monsters from my graveyard," she placed her hand over her graveyard and 5 cards were immediately ejected from the Graveyard into her hands. Tyra then revealed her 5 dinosaur monsters to her opponent, "So I remove from play Kabazauls, Black Brachios, Gilasaurus, Dark Triceratops, and my Ultimate Tyranno." She then placed the five cards into her pocket. "And then I gain 400 Life Points for each Dinosaur that was removed from play!"(Tyra 4000)
"So you're back at 4000," said Lance. "But that's not enough!"
Jaden looked up at Lucas and asked him, "Why is it not enough?"
"Because the Attack Points of both Lance's monsters add up to 4100," said Lucas in response.
"Which is 100 points higher that Tyra's Life Points," continued Aqua. "But Tyra still has one more card to activate".
Lance pointed towards Tyra and commanded his monsters to attack Tyra: "Marauding Captain! Geafried! Attack Tyra directly!" The two monsters, with their blades risen, charged at Tyra. With a confident grin, Tyra pressed on another button on her Duel Disk.
"I activate my second Trap Card: Negate Attack!" a majority of the crowd(the Duelists Majority) all gasped when the Trap Card was revealed. "This card will negate your attack and end the Battle Phase!"
"I end my turn!" said Lance, "I really thought I had you there, Tyra!"
"Save it, pretty boy!" shouted Tyra.
(Turn 9: Lance 1800 Tyra 4000)
"I draw!" Tyra drew her card, placed it in her hand and picked the card that was surrounded by electricity. As mentioned, due to Lucas's eyes, he was the only one who was able see what was occuring. When Tyra picked her card, her raging, wild Duel Energy turned into an electrical field that surrounded her. Lucas had never seen one's Energy changing its form. This field grew larger as Tyra played her card.
"I summon, Tyranno Infinity!" The Duel Disk had scanned the card, and as if it too could identify what Lucas was seeing, the hologram of the card appeared, releasing a rain of electricity as the ferocious dinosaur took a step onto the battlefield, letting out a loud roar, intimidating the crowd. Jaden was so astounded when he saw this Dino. Aqua, with her arms crossed, nod in approval, saying: "He's done for."
Lucas was astounded to see how much electricity was being emitted from Tyra. Little sparks flickered across the Tyranno's body as it stood on the battlefield glaring at Lance's monsters.
"Tyranno Infinity," Lance said in astonishment. "A monster that combos well with the trap card you played earlier." Lance recalled how in the last turn, Tyra played the Trap Card, Survival Instinct, to remove from play all of the Dinosaurs in her Graveyard.
"Tyranno Infinity's ability," said Tyra as she reached into her pocket, pulling out the five monsters she had removed from play, "is that she gains 1000 Attack Points for each Dinosaur-Type monster that is removed from play!" She showed the five cards to Lance: "I count five Dinos. That means Tyranno Infinity's Attack reaches up to 5000!" The mighty Tyranno had let out a loud roar, as her Attack Power rose to 5000.
"Alrighty, Infinity!" shouted Tyra, "Take a chomp out of his monsters!" The Tyranno Infinity charged at Lance's Marauding Captain, the captain which raised his sword in an attempt to guard, but the Tyranno grabbed the Warrior by his waist, raised him high off the ground, and bit into Marauding Captain, shattering him, lowering Lance's Life Points to zero.
"Alright!" yelled Tyra. The fan girls of Lance let out a small groan, but quickly stayed quiet when Tyra glared at them. Lance walked towards Tyra, holding a Puzzle Card as well as a second card which was radiating Duel Energy in itself. Lucas felt bad for Lance. Seeing how much Duel Energy was emitted by his one card, it must have been such a rare card. This card was not Gearfried. It's Energy was a bit different. Tyra noticed Lance and turned to look at him with an angry look on her face. Aqua lets out a little "Oh no," worrying Lucas.
"Why did you say 'Oh no'?" asked Lucas concerned.
"She's gonna slaughter him," responded Aqua. "Remember what I told you about her asking him out?"
Lucas looked back at the two, also letting out a small "Oh no."
"Good Game, Tyra." said Lance with a smile on his face. He raised the two cards held to Tyra. Tyra took the cards and looked at them intently, with a face that said she was not happy. She gritted her teeth and was about to give Lance a piece of her mind.
"Listen, La-" she was interrupted with Lance giving her a third card he pulled from his pocket. This card had a phone number on it. "What's this?!" asked Tyra furiously due to her being interrupted.
"It's my phone number," said Lance. Tyra heard this and just about had it with this little heart player. But then he continued: "I was trying to give this to you the other day, but you walked away before I had a chance to give it to you, I was about to go after you but I got a phone call from work saying how they wanted me to come in early. I figured I would give it to you when I saw you again that we could plan a day for our date." Tyra blinked a bit, diminishing her angry emotions to confusion. Lucas, Aqua, and a few fangirls who were envying the fact that Tyra got his phone number, and then in unison everyone except for Lance, the duelists who were participating in the tournament, and Jaden too, let out a loud "Eeh?!"
"I mean you asked me out, and I'm really looking forward to it," continued Lance. "But you never gave me a date so since we're still here, I figured this was the best opportunity to give it to you. I would not want to miss our date and disappoint you."
Once again the crowd, except for Lance and Jaden: "EEH?!"
"So let me get this straight," asked Lucas. "She asked him out without exchanging phone numbers or telling him when the date was going to be?"
"I mean it's stupid," said Aqua. "But at least she does better than you." Lucas glared at Aqua, her grinning at him to show that she's mocking him. But they quickly turn their attention to Tyra who's attitude immediately changed.
"Oh yeah! Sure!" said Tyra. "How could I forgot?! I wouldn't want to have gone to the date and not have you show up. HAHAHA!"
Lance laughed with Tyra. "Yeah, I wouldn't want you to think that I stood you up." said Lance cheerfully thinking that this did not run through Tyra's mind. Tyra continued her laughing a bit longer, then turned her attention to the card that Lance gave her. She held it to Lance. Lance looked confused.
"Take it back. I can't use him in my deck anyways." said Tyra.
"But you won Fair-and-Square," asked Lance. "I can't take this back.
"Sure you can," said Tyra. "If anything you can make it up to me with two dates." Tyra walked up to Lance, grabbed his arm, and rested her head on his shoulder. Aqua was looking at Tyra muttering words that was calling her out on her trying to pretend that she wasn't mad.
"I don't mind if you don't mind," Tyra responded, now becoming the envy of the fan girls in the crowd. The crowd dispersed and the only people left were Lucas, Jaden, Lance, Tyra, and Aqua.
"Hey Tyra," said Lucas. Tyra turned to Lucas, listening to what he has to say. "Let's have a duel." Lucas raised his Duel Disk to his chest.
"Heh. Well if you want to lose your Puzzle Card," Tyra raised her Duel Disk.
"Say Aqua," said Lance. "How about you and I have ourselves a duel? I can't leave here with only one Puzzle Card." Lance raised his Duel Disk, showing that he is also ready for another duel.
"Hey," responded Aqua, raising her Duel Disk. "Just don't be crying if you lose your last Puzzle Card."
"DUEL!"
...
