YOU'RE WHAT!

Disclaimer: The Cullen's, the Swans, and most of the characters mentioned in the story that are known from Stephanie Meyer's beloved Twilight Saga, are all hers and hers alone. I neither have nor wish to pass them off as mine. I do appreciate the fact that she did bring them to life and allows us to play with them in our imaginations. The only thing I will claim is the current storyline.

The awesome and talented dowlingnana searched out my errors and corrected them.

"No, we're on our way there, but felt we should stop here in route to bring you up to date."

And, before any of the three men could say or do anything else a low groan could be heard coming from the woman lying in the bed.

CHAPTER 35: ALL HELL IS ABOUT TO BREAK LOOSE

Other than hearing the single moan coming from the unconscious patient lying in the hospital bed, nothing more happened except for a small frown that appeared on the facial features of the patient, then silence once more. So, after figuratively holding their breath as they waited to see if the patient would awaken, Charlie, who was still sitting next to Bella's bed, Sam and Felix, who were halfway between the bed and the door, all finished with the goodbyes and continued on with their plans after it was realized that nothing else was going to happen.

Charlie was going to continue sitting next to Bella while carrying on his earlier one-sided conversation. Sam and Felix were going to Bella's home to bring Alice and Rosalie up to date and then start planning for the final chapter to take place: the take-down of the Volturi crime family.

After hearing the quiet click of the door closing behind the two departed Marshalls, Charlie reached for Bella's hand once more and began speaking without considering what he was saying, "Well, kiddo, what do you think? Do you believe that all of the pieces are now revealed to be able to call closure to this case?

"You know, what concerns me the most is the young lady that is being held hostage, more or less, against her brother and the threat that exist against her that is being used to keep that young man in line. How do you think all of that should be handled?

"Next, I also know that you would like to be in on the planning for the frontal attacks to take these assholes down, but don't worry, your old man will cover for you. I'm promising to cover for you since I don't believe that you'll be able to be available to help in any way." Charlie told Bella as he continued keeping physical contact with his daughter by holding onto her hand. He paused everY so often but continued talking on in the same vein as he had begun and once in a while, he would revert back to some childhood memory that he shared with Bella.

Sam and Felix arrived at Bella's home and was immediately puzzled by the amount of tension they felt in the atmosphere surrounding everyone present in the living room. After looking around the room as if searching for some clue as to what the problem might be, Sam finally asks, "What's happened that has everyone more wound up than a cat in a room full of moving rocking chairs?"

There was no answer forthcoming immediately, but then Alice tried to explain the problem. "Dr. and Mrs. Cullen are having a problem about their son's situation being withheld from them for as long as it has been. They feel that all three of the guys should have been more upfront with their families about what happened to them as well about the current set of circumstances."

Sam and Felix could sympathize with the older Cullen's, but that still didn't change the facts that everything had to be handled as it had been. Bella and her team were the ones that made the decisions of how things were to be handled and no one had the authority to override that. Not because the three women were in charge of the investigation itself, but because they were in charge with keeping the witnesses alive and available for testifying when the time came.

However, it did include coordinating with the Attorney General's office which was responsible for conducting the investigation through another department of the FBI and the U. S. Marshall's office. So, all the separate entities had to work together because of the different aspects that were being covered.

Sam and Felix, each, tried to explain all of this to the older Cullen's and ended with Sam saying, "So, I hope you can understand now why it was necessary to keep everything as quiet as possible. What with a leak that we were trying to find, but, also, with being responsible for so many people, no one could afford to take any chances."

Carlisle and Esme took the time to consider what Sam and Felix had explained to them, and by the expressions that fluttered across their faces from time to time everyone else could tell that the information wasn't really what the couple had wanted to hear. But finally, Carlisle looked around, then looked back at his wife which gave him a slight nod of her head before he said, "We can't say that we're happy about being left out of something this important in our son's life or that of his friends. However, we can understand to a greater extent, the need for secrecy. But I'm warning all of you, that if anything happens to these three boys you will rue the day we ever met!"

Before anyone could respond, Edward was the first to speak, "Dad, you and Mom are going a bit overboard with all of this. Surely, you can see that Emmett, Jasper and I are in very capable hands and you have already witnessed the lengths our protectors will go to just to keep us safe.

"The fact that my Bella is lying in a hospital bed because she was protecting me should make you realize that we're in good hands. I'm very disappointed that you would be treating these people this way. Afterall, they had been watching over you two as well as Emmett's and Jasper's families since they have been assigned our case. Nothing has happened to any of you or to us." The tone in which Edward spoke left no doubt as to how upset he was with his parents. He felt shame that his parents were behaving as they were.

The sound of gunshots jarred her out of a restless sleep and to quickly sit up in bed where she rapidly looked around as if trying to locate where the noise had come from. Jumping out of bed she was about to run to the closed door of the room she was being kept in when the door was thrown open and slammed into the wall with a great force. There stood her father with blood rapidly seeping through his closed fingers covering his wound. Seeing him injured she did rush to try to help him.

"Dad, what happened? Where's Mom?"

"Hush, child, I need for you to listen to me and to get out of here. You need to get to someplace safe until you can get a hold of your brother."

"Not until you tell me what has happened." She stubbornly refused to make a move towards an escape.

The man was leaning against the door frame and was slowly sinking down to sit on the floor as he tried to gather enough strength to answer his daughter. "The men that were holding us hostage got to fighting over who was going to have first go with your mother. With their attention being occupied in the argument, it gave me a chance to grab a gun lying on the table and to try to protect her and you.

"My sudden move got their attention a few seconds too late which gave me the chance to fire a shot. They returned fire, but one of the shots caught your mother in the heart, killing her instantly. I managed to kill our jailors, but not before taking a bullet myself."

"Dad, let me help you….."

But before she could finish, her father got to coughing as he was shaking his head no. "Your mother and I discussed what we would try to do if the chance presented itself. Our main concern was to get you away from them.

"We've known all along what the plans were where your mom and I were concerned; they planned to kill us once the order was given. But the plans for your mother was first to enjoy tormenting her before finally killing her. However, she would have been forced to watch me being killed.

"You must go before the one that went for food returns. Get the hell out of here. Don't pack anything. Just run. Run to someplace safe and wait for a bit before trying to get in touch with your brother. Let him know what has happened. Tell him to go to the authorities and to tell them the truth about all of this and to leave nothing out." And, with all of that said, the man drew his last breath.

Janie cried out as she tried to shake some life into her father but gave up almost as soon as she began. Her parents were beyond harm or help now, but she wasn't. She needed to make a move and to do it quickly. Being asleep like she had been; she had no idea how long the last surviving man had been gone. And, she had no doubt that once it was known about what had happened here, she and her brother would be in big trouble.

She didn't want to go, however, under the circumstances she had no choice but to do as her father had asked. So, without further ado, Janie ran from the room she had slept in; she ran past all of the bodies that were lying in the living room and out the front door. She didn't pause but ran around the side of the house and took off running into the wooded area that was behind the house. Her destination was the hunting blind that her father had built years ago that she could go and watch the wild animals in their natural environment while not disturbing them. To her knowledge no one but her family members knew about her hideout.

The loud, cold shrill of a siren in the distance could be heard as Janie ran towards her destination. She didn't bother to stop to look back to see if it had anything to do with the shootings that had taken place at her home. All she wanted to do was to get to her hideout and away from anyone that might still try to do her any harm.

She did plan to let her brother know what had happened as soon as she could. No one else but her brother knew about the burner cellphones that existed between her brother and herself. No one, not even their parents, knew about the phones.

After Carlisle and Esme decided to release some of their upset about the whole situation and the lack of their knowledge about the true event of things, Sam and Felix were able to fill everyone in on the details of what they had learned from the young man they had taken into custody at the hospital.

"Okay, Sam, what are your suggestions in regards to handling the entire takedown?" Alice asked with some excitement.

"I really think our planning should be aimed in taking everyone into custody all at the same time. That way no one gets warned and no one gets away." Rosalie commented.

But it was Esme that made the final contribution that needed to be considered. She suggested, "Before any of you do anything else, you need to make sure the young man's sister is rescued first. Or, at least, someone assigned to handle that situation as all of the others are being arrested.

"This young girl is right on the verge of blossoming into womanhood and it would be a shame if that introduction was done in such a cruel, uncaring manner."

"Mom, I'm sure Sam and Felix will make sure that everything is covered all at the same time and that will include this young woman." Edward offered in an effort to calm his mother's fears.

"Dr. and Mrs. Cullen, no insult intended, but as U. S. Marshalls, we have been on the force for many years and have a great deal of experience to be able to do what needs to be done.

"Add to that, we will be working with the FBI who has the lead on this case as well as the Attorney General's office. Of course, normally we would be working with the local authorities, however, under the current circumstances that will not be the case. Everything will remain completely under the control of the FBI, the Marshall's office and the Attorney General's office.

"Then, of course, we will be coordinating with Alice and Rosalie since they are assigned to keep Edward, Emmett and Jasper safe. These young ladies have control of keeping the witnesses and their families safe from harm and from what I can see they've done a damn good job. Wouldn't you say?" Felix concluded with his mini-speech. Felix was a man of few words, but when he did speak it usually carried a lot of sense and information said in short form.

"If you have nothing else to tell us I would suggest that we all adjourn back down to the office and get everyone together to get this planned and put into operation. It's time to bring this case to a close." Rosalie said.

So, without any further discussion everyone begins getting ready to leave when it's realized that Carlisle and Esme are planning to join them. That is when Alice firmly told the older couple that they couldn't be included.

"Like hell we can't. It's my son and his friends that's in the middle of this mess, so, I dare you to try to keep us out of it." Esme firmly stated as she stared each individual in the face and dared them to do anything other than to accept what she had just told them.
