Chapter 6: Winter Concert
In our previous chapter, Hannah and Haruten were so excited about their newly formed band, but with their enemy involved this could either make or break the band sooner than later. After nineteen weeks' worth of practice, with long hours as well it was all going to be worth it. Hannah was so excited yet nervous at the same time, as they were getting final rehearsal done and that same time Haruten was keeping a close eye on Tatsuma. "Oh my god the gym is packed with people." Said Lily as she took a peek behind the curtain from backstage. "This is gonna be amazing, let's give it our all" said Haruka with a big smile and she was really pumped. Haruten looks to Hannah who was really nervous, this was really happening. What she wanted since middle school, to be become famous and do what she loves most. Haruten goes up to her and says "Hannah, it's going to be okay. We worked hard for this and we'll make sure that it'll be memorable, I promise you that" "Really?" Hannah said looking at him with hopefulness in her eyes as Haruten pulled her close into a hug.
"Yes, I promise you everything will fall into place" he said helping her calm her nerves. Tatsuma saw Haruten and Hannah together hugging, this made him jealous. He knew that his reputation was all about getting the girl and having sex, but with Hannah it was like something changed him but he couldn't quite put his finger on what it was. Tatsuma knew that sabotaging the performance was going to crush Hannah's feelings and he was going to be blamed for it. So for her sake, he does what he was told in hopes that Hannah will see that Tatsuma just wants to have a normal reputation. When the principal takes the stage in making some announcements, everyone backstage makes final preparations for their set and going over list of songs they were doing for rehearsals.
The set list was as followed for their performance: open with Doki-Doki Morning by BABYMETAL, Ice Cream Cake by Red Velvet in English, Monochrome no kiss by Sid, and end the show with Rolling Star by YUI. Then the time came as the principal introduced their band name which is Major Rebels, the curtains open as everyone was in position. Hannah felt a little bad about Tatsuma and his friends being left out so she had them join in too since they knew the dance routine as well. So far so good, the concert is going well Hannah looked around her and noticed that everyone else is having a lot of fun especially Tatsuma and his friends. This concert showcasing their talent was their first step to trying to be famous and Hannah had also been working on some new songs as well. Once the five minute intermission started the bandmates relaxed, got some water and prepped for their next set as the crowd loved them but Hannah didn't want it to be all about her even though it was her idea to begin with. She decided to let everyone do a solo and showcase their own special talent that makes them unique and special.
When the intermission had ended each member did their own solo the crowd loved it more, and kept cheering on the band really felt the love and support from the crowd and enjoyed this experience. Little did they know that in the audience was a talent scout and it was from Hannah's uncle's record company, and the talent scout was quite impressed with the new fresh talent. During the concert, the crowd kept wanting more then Tatsuma and his friends came through by doing a dance number that they knew and the audience love it. Once the concert was over and the band had did three encores, the audience got the chance to meet and talk to the band because afterwards there was a buffet of food and everyone got to mingle and take pictures.
While Hannah and the other members of Major Rebels were taking pictures with their fellow classmates and friends the talent scout approaches them and they were feeling nervous about what was going to happen. "Hannah do you know who that is?" Lily asks curiously but also kind of nervous because the talent scout looked a little intermediating. "Y'know he does look familiar but I can't seem to remember his name" said Hannah, she had to think for a moment to know who that was then the answer hit her. "I know who that is that's my uncle Arthur's friend Kenny Higa" said Hannah a little surprised to see him. "Hannah a pleasure, as well always to see your beautiful face" said Kenny. Hannah slightly blushed at the comment then Kenny went on saying "As may have heard from Hannah, my name is Kenny Higa and I'm talent scout for Hannah's uncle's record company. And think you guys have what it takes to make it to the big time." Hannah's friends were so excited to hear this news especially Tatsuma and his friends.
During the night as they discussed plans about what future lies ahead for their band, Haruten stepped away to get some fresh air and when Hannah noticed she went to go see him. When Haruten was by the balcony drinking his soda, he smiled when he heard Hannah's voice "Something on your mind? Whatever it is I'm a good listener and if you need to a shoulder to cry on I'm here too." Hannah said approaching him and leaned on the balcony with him. "I'm just thinking about how life would be like if my parents were around." he said with a half-smile and stared at his drink. "I'm sure your parents are very proud of you and the accomplishments you've made Haruten." said Hannah as she looked him then the beautiful night sky.
"Yeah but, I make a lot of stupid and regretful mistakes along the way too...When I was a kid, I was a little trouble maker and I didn't make my mom's life that easy" he said drinking the rest of his soda and then clenching the plastic cup in his hand. "You do realize that no matter what you did your parents love you regardless, it's called unconditional love. No matter how bad life went for you and your sister your parents will always love you." Hannah said taking the cup away and she hugged him close then kissed him trying to make him feel better. He smiles while blushing saying "Thanks Hannah I needed that. You always know how to make someone feel better huh" said Haruten with a small chuckle, "Well it's what I do, and I've been told that I'm known to be the problem solver so it's a gift." Hannah giggled a bit as the two walked back inside holding hands enjoying the rest of the evening.
Upon going back to others and talk about the future for their band, Tatsuma was seen talking to the cheerleading team and of course of his reputation he was flirting with the girls but his ultimate goal was to be with Hannah no matter what. Hannah was happy to be at this school and have met so many nice people and made a lot of friends. She wasn't exactly the popular type but she knew that popularity was overrated, the only thing that mattered was for her to be with Haruten and make their dream become a reality and be famous. Hannah didn't care what life would throw at her because, all she wanted was a life where she can be with those who like her for who she is. So what lies ahead for this band?
