The plane landed which jolted Angel out of his slumber and his body protested by the movement. He had been human now for nearly a month but the majority of that time had been spent in a hospital recovering. Getting the reward of the Shanshu Prophecy didn't skip over the fact he'd gone through hell and back to avoid yet another apocalypse and wasn't made to pay for it without his vampire powers of healing and super strength when all was said and done.

Once he was able, the former vampire with a soul contacted the remaining members of his team to let them know where he was, how he was, and explain what exactly had happened and where they should all go from here. Once that was handled, his next bit of business was really the most important: he needed to get to Buffy.

The idea of him being human while she was who she was: the Chosen one, the vampire slayer, had been thrown out into the inverse before and he had known the risks and had changed history so that she would be safe. Things had changed in major ways since then, however... she was no longer one of the two slayers, she had an entire army...and that was just the beginning of why he believed now it would be different, now they could make it work between one another.

Angel got himself in as good of shape as he could for the trip and decided to take fate head on.

Angel was let in by Andrew Wells once he reached the house he'd been directed to, Andrew made several comments about how awful he looked but he barely paid any mind to it...he just found a seat and waited...and waited. Andrew wound up looking nervous and repeating that they should have been back by now but Angel didn't get worried because it was Buffy and she was indestructible.

He must have been napping off and on without much thought into it as time would pass and he wouldn't know what exactly happened... the final time he dozed off he was awaken by an ear piercing scream; in fact, many screams. He saw everyone else's faces and heard what they were saying before he even saw her or rather what was left of her...he denied it in his head until that moment because it couldn't be Buffy, not now, not when they finally had a chance to be together again. Not when she was the strongest of the pack, when she was so young, when she had so much life left to live, so much to teach these young girls put under her care...

But it was.

Bodies were everywhere it seemed...some he knew but most he did not but they were all wearing the same face as they stared at the fallen blonde. It wasn't the first time she had met this fate but everyone could feel how different it was, they'd tempted life and death too many times, the finality of it hung all around them.

Angel fell to his knees and his hands cradled her face. Blood stained his hands but all he could feel was how cold she was already, how lifeless, heavy her body felt. Mere hours ago he had felt hope that he hadn't known in decades and all of it seeped out of him in one simple moment, all those hopes and dreams were gone, all that he had worked so hard for...gone.

Buffy...gone.
