Act 3 - Chapter 3: The War of Titan

For days, war had been going on. For days, war had taken away the victims' lives. Welkin and his comrades wished to shed tear for those had fallen, but the war must be stopped so their sacrifices wouldn't be in vain. Driving along with his partner, Edelweiss, he led his country army to the entrance of Empire.

Gaia lost one of leaders to comma after Mio performed medical check on him. His body was fighting against ragnite, the El energy and ragnite were colliding each other to gain domination. His body was showing fever and pain, something hearing groans. Mio couldn't tell how long it would consume him completely so most of medic and Mio must act.

Mio had assitants gathering all data about ragnite to see if she found a clue to counter it. In the mean time, Elsword would not be able to participate in war and instead Welkin will lead. Gaia was having a doubt if they could win war without Elsword, yet Welkin stood up and told them with fierce determination:

"Elsword is like Valkyria, he has power to conquer a country, a power that is on par with Valkyria. But we can go on without him, he eliminated their strongest division and took down one major base defense. Don't let his absence be our weakness, we still have our arm and armor to protect our home. We are one step closer to peace, by beating Empire to submission for causing our misery and pain. This time we will win the war."

Gaia regained her strength back and continued their way to Empire, to the doorstep. Welkin found the sea was far away, another opportunity he could find.

"This is HQ. Location: Sea Isshin. We found their base. Request support."

"HQ, this is Queen Gaia. I have sent the Great Pride to assist you."

"The Great Pride? With all respect, you sure you send her to battlefield after years of retirement?"

"I have my faith that she will prove herself more capable to us. I haven't let her out because she's under maintenance. Now she can go and burst them."

"Understand."

The comm went offline. Rossetta looked at Welkin after hearing Shiro and was surprised too. With her, the chance to win became higher. He smiled with hope and continued onward. Once they reached the final destination, they found a large division approaching and already engaging Welkin after first shot, but fallen one by one after Welkin returned fire.

Welkin decided to build their base to prepare their last equipment. Isara checked any damage caused on Eldelweiss while Welkin checked their supply. It's hard to tell how long they can last. All he could decide now was waiting. Rossa was fixing her weapon and firearms. Her flak vest was badly damaged and unable to use. Her AR was also at its limit and could be broken at any time.

They were close to victory, almost. Only behind the last defense could they reach that.

Also, he was hoping Elsword would be alright. He was also worried that Rossa was overworking herself for the war and he knew it why, to cover up the missing members in her division. Poor the woman, she lost her leader due to betrayal he committed and it broke her morale to fight. Elsword came in and fixed her up but only to be down again as Elsword was fallen into coma. She was now hearing her foster mother who noticed her strange behaviour.

He let them alone after hearing both of them yelling each other. He should interfere but his instict told him to walk away for his safety. He continued his path to check other divisions and finally met Alicia who was baking fresh milked breads to provide everyone since they were tired and hungry.

"You hungry? I made some for you."

"Thanks, Alicia."

He took her offer and ate while it was still freshly baked. Welkin enjoyed a moment off duty to have a good bread.

"Ah… your bread is still delicious as ever."

"You're welcome." She smiled and put some more bread in basket. Welkin noticed her face revealed sadness while baking.

"Something wrong?"

"… do you think we will live after this war?" Alicia asked in concern "We still have many thing to do and our daughter is waiting for us."

Welkin walked to her and pat her shoulder to calm her nervous down. He understood her feeling that no one wanted to die on their last war while they were still lot of thing to finish in their lives.

"That's why we have to win this war, not only for us, but also for our child too. She needs us so we will live and stay by her side."

Alicia held her basket, felt her hope rose up again. She nods slightly. The thought of her daughter smiling to her had pushed her courage, a reason she fought for.

"Thank you, Welkin."

At night…

The sound of continous bleeping heart monitor scanned for the certain red haired man who was under coma. His rough breathes were heard as his body was struggling against what was colliding his El energy, the Ragnite.

His life was on the border between life and death when both El and Ragnite were fighting, one to keep at bay while other to eat his body.

Everything was being watched by Mio, who didn't leave her eye off her monitor. She had to check his condition every minute passed since she had no knowledge of what Ragnite could do to him, putting him into coma and weakening his state were bad enough.

She went back to her research to find the cure but so far they're marked as failure, which irritated her. She was figuring how to separate Ragnite from El but it could only destroy both of them, thus would kill Elsword if trying. She waited for another result with hope, but the more she did, the more she was misled.

The war was still ongoing.

"?!"

Out of sudden, the light was out and her facility was shut down by forced, completely halted her research.

"Blackout?!"

She's using her night vision mode to see through darkness.

"Anyone out here?!"

She called out but the only response was her echoes. Mio then realized in fear. Elsword's life support was out too. She quickly went out and headed quickly to Elsword's as fast as she could before anything could happen to Elsword. She was so confused, the back up generator should have been up by now but the light wasn't on.

To her surprise, Elsword's room still had light, but someone was in his room. She found a shadow from entrance and was moving out of sight. Pulling her gun out. She approached Elsword's room carefully while inspecting any suspicion she found, but nothing.

Maybe she's hallucinated or too tired to see-

"Mhph!"

A hand quickly disarmed her pistol and locked her arms behiind her back. She tried to scream but her mouth was covered by a rough hand. She had eyes on mirror but couldn't see the invader behind her as they were covered by hoods. She saw another hooded person approaching Elsword,

With an injection in their hand.

She struggled to free herself yet she was gripped in strong hands that she couldn't move. Her eyes rapidly watched as they injected something in his neck before a sharp whoop hit her neck, knocked her out.

They put Mio on the floor while waiting for other to finish before both disappoeared in the dark, right after the light went back again.

At the same time, the Gaia force was resting while remaines stayed awake for guarding. Rossa was one of them. She was guarding near the ammunition station with boredom and spinning her rifle.

She had her mind wandering on a man that she's worried for his life.

However, a moment of distraction could prove danger to her as an explosion occurred, waking whole division up with urgency. But they couldn't response as a light beam swept and burnt any camp and anyone on its way. Fire egufled base and consumed into chaos. No one was expecting this to happen.

"All units, gather your equipment and return fire!"

Welkin was trying to take thing under control among the chaos and devastation. Another strike hit again and destroyed the HQ in one shot, blowing up everything. Welkin found this beyond imagination, such power could clear out Gaia. He shot red flare to the sky to signal the remain of Gaia to retreat immediately.

Rossa was caught in the fire trying to escape the nightmare she was seeing. Fear struck her mind with the scene of dead and burnt bodies scattering around, even a barely survival man who was trying to reach for her help had fallen due to shock and blood lost. She felt on the way, betrayed by her own trembling legs.

A loud humming sound echoed all over the sky. Rossa turned around to witness the monstrous robot that was floating closer to Gaia's base. She was witnessing the form of Guarduan of the City Sky Eltrion Kazuki described, but this was her first time seeing it for real.

"Rossa!"

Rosie hurriedly caught her daughter and kept running away from the beast.

"Don't just stand there and keep running!"

Welkin's Edelweiss was rolling non-stop while firing their cannon at the beast but it didn't cause a scratch. A direct AP didn't even make a dent on surface. In other word, he couldn't damage it.

"HQ to all Eagles! Deploy and destroy target!"

"Roger!"

The aircrafts appeared in the sky and targeted Eltrion with all they got, launching every missiles which made multiple explosion on it, without a second delay. They were then caught by surprise as they were shot back by the same beam sweeping upward and destroyed two unfortunate aircrafts in its path.

"We lost Division Eagle 2! I repeat, We lost Division Eagle 2!"

"Damage?!"

"It's not working! What kind of armor is- ARG! *static*"

Welkin couldn't hear the rest as Eltrion launched mass number of missiles against aircrafts. Explosion of aircrafts were heard and seen, the eagles were down. They had lost air strike.

"Where the hell is that battleship?! We're dying out here!"

"Oi… oi… oi… I'm hurt, Welkin. you shouldn't say that when I'm still around."

A loud bang were heard from the other side of the mountain. Welkin and his troops saw something passing over and directly hit Eltrion which successfully knocked it backward. Another shot directly hit Eltrion and completely halted Eltrion from advancing.

The troop was confused where that shots came from. They were startled by the horn echoing and the view of battleship came to their eyes.

"Wait, is that…"

"The Great Pride had arrived."

The battleship was too enormous at close sight, like Eltrion. They could feel the power it was holding was too much.

"This is Division Valkyrie 1 and 2 at your service."

Another aircraft squads joined in battle in the sky as they floated over the ship.

"All Aboard!"

The Great Pride, also known as Kanz, was created as a replica of the legendary battleship, Yamato, yet she's not close to her full glory. The engineers weren't able to recreate the ultimate defense on her armor that was thinner than Yamato, but in return, her performance was slightly greater than Yamato.

Her armanent include nine main 460mm guns with 24 secondary guns between 155 and 127. The AA gun were not used on Great Pride but instead, she was installed with AA Guidance Missile to either counter the incoming missiles that targeted her or destroy the aircraft.

The main batteries could fire up to 18km away that made other cruises unable to approach her without taking a shot or being destroyed.

Shiro had it as the pride of Gaia when it had fought on the sea against other cruises from Empire and survived, at the cost of her long retirement for maintenance. With the loss the Empire suffered, they wouldn't attack by sea any further.

"Fire!"

Kanz shot again with AP shot toward Eltrion directly. It took damage by force but didn't show any scratch. Crew captain found the same light from its chest and immediately realized it was about to return attack. He quickly turned battleship slowly change direction to 90 degree left.

"Valkyrie 1-1, 1-2, distract it."

"Roger that!"

Two aircrafts approaching Eltrion armed with missiles launched away, knocked its face and covered with flame and smoke. They then received an alarm of locked missile. The shout of "Flare away!" and the pilot shot flare to misguide missile away.

The guardian was charged up and shot its beam at Kanz, a few meters away from it and sweeping upward, causing a huge wave shaking Kanz.

"Kyaaa~"

"This is madness."

The crew was working all their best on the deck. The member of Gaia was joining hands to help the crew what they could do. Number of missiles were launched and attacked Eltrion and continued reloading after shot.

"I have never seen this thing coming. Back when I fought against Empire's battle cruises, i never felt this… monstrousity dominating the sky."

"Save your story later, sir. We need to retreat."

"We can't! If that thing manages to reach Gaia after us, we will fall for sure! We must stop it!"

"Then…" The captain fixed his hat with a stoic face as he announed "We make our last stand! Crew, raise our flag!"

Welkin flinched at his declaration as he knew that if the blue flag was raised on the deck, the battle turned to another level. Eltron approached Kanz while charging up its energy again for another shot. Division Vakyrie returned and launched another missiles which directly hit its face, put it angrier.

Once its energy was charged up, immediately, it fired on Kanz yet it missed to the right. The crew could feel its extreme heat and the bright light that forced to cover their eyes.

"My turn!"

Captain manevuered Kanz to hard right along with her cannons in position before she shop AP directly at Eltrion again. The beast took it with most bounced off while others took deformation and exploded, knocking it backward a bit. It was a risky move as Kanz became an easy target when floating horizontally, exposing to Eltrion's vulnerable attack

Missiles were shot from the beast and minor damaged Kanz's deck where she caught fire. The crew hurriedly put the fire down.

"Please tell me you have you plan because this ship is too old and fall behind other modern ships."

"I still have trick up my sleeve! All station, prepare Ragnite Cannons!"

"Ragnite what?!"

Front cannons stopped working. The crew inside citadel now changing gears and mechanism by captain's order. All magazines for original cannons were pushed aside and set in an armored containers where they would be safe from AP shot. The cannon mechanism detached from main turrents and installed a different one that contained blue tubes. Once things were set, the main turrents emitted blue light from inside.

The crew gave signal to captain that they were ready.

At the same time, Eltrion suddenly went floated forward and dropped near the sea with left claw was about to strike.

Those cannons couldn't make it in time to counter, as well as AA missiles that didn't do any damage. Kanz was forced to change direction away from its claw too late and took damage on engine and rotor, slowing her speed and manevuer.

"Engine damaged! Repair crew, do your job!"

"Roger!"

"Return fire!"

The front cannons were already charged and launched blue plasma beams at Eltrion, a direct shot on its shoulder that it lost balance. For the first time, Valkyria Division confirmed damage on Eltrion, which was pieces of metal fell off its shoulder.

"Penetrated! I repeat, penetrated!"

"Keep it up!"

Eltrion became berserk and launched every missiles from its shoulders at Kanz. She countered by firing AA missiles, destroyed vital missiles while the remains hit Kanz which caused minor or no damage. Another shot hit its arm that pieces of its metal fell off, vulnerable to any damages.

On the shore, the sight of the silver haired woman was watching as the battleship was regaining their domination. They found and learnt its battle style quickly and quickly getting themselves away from dangers after each strike and watched it getting shot one by one, each shot destroyed and damaged.

She grew bored when the pathetic guardian failed by the hands of humans. The last shot hit the core where it received minor damage. It's enough to put Eltrion to overheat and make Eve to interfere.

The next shot was then blocked by silver light. Valkyria cannot confirmed that shot hit Eltrion or not as they were blinded by the bright light and soon they found a woman floating before Eltrion.

"It's…"

However, one of Valkryria aircraft was shot down, no, it was slashed and torn apart by Valkyrie's spear. So fast that even it didn't realize they were cut until few seconds later. She went for the remain aircraft of division 1.

"Valkyria 1-1 is down! Oh shit! It's comi-"

"?!"

Elsword jolted up from hospital bed after facing his nightmare of his beloved queen. His head was hurt like a hammer hitting him. He removed needles injecting his vein and got off bed, but soon fell on the ground as his strength was weak, too weak like he was a normal human.

"Kuh! What…"

He was completely shocked. He couldn't feel his strength, nor his power flowing in his body. He felt like it was being suppressed by something. Ragnite, it was his first thought. It must be it. He remembered it was the second him that injected ragnite in his body and put him in mysery, struggling against Death to save his life.

He looked around to find something help him stand and saw a crutch. He took it on and got up again, putting it under his left arm. After that, he found an unconscious pink haired narrator and tried to call her up.

"Mio… Mio. Wake up!"

The poor woman moaned in response and got up. Her system was clearing her vision and saw Elsword's concerned face. She remembered everything.

"Elsword?!"

"What happened here…?"

"Someone invaded your room and- Are you alright?"

"Aside my body losing my El power… not good."

Elsword stood and gripped his crutch for support.

"I can't move properly with this weak body. What happened to my body?"

"Hold on, let me see your body."

Mio put Elsword back to his bed. She took his shirt off and examined his body by putting heart sensor pads and her own creation in their world, energy wave sensor which scanned the frequency of El energy shown as blue wave, any unknown energy conflicted will be shown as red.

The woman then activated her devices. She saw his El energy was… weak, not completely a straight line but a faint fluctuation was seen. As for Ragnite, she didn't find any unknown wave, as if it's gone. But how?

"Your power is not completely gone. A large part of your power somehow is not shown. Either it's suppressed or gone with all ragnite."

"Gone?! What do you mean gone?!"

"Calm down, Elsword!" Mio came and put Elsword back down "I can't tell but it has something to do with invaders last night."

"Invaders?"

"Two people wearing cloaks. One of them, he… he looks like you."

Elsword immediately regconized who she was talking about and frowned. That damn Dark Knight.

"I need to research more about it so you better stay. Who knows what would change your body because of the syringe he injected you."

"Right… just right… first he poisoned me with Ragnite, then he weakened me with some strange syringe. What's next? Invasion?"

Elsword soon cursed his mouth for speaking too early. They felt a slight earthquake that shook medical devices and explosion sounds.

"What's going on?!"

After that, they found a squad of 4 entered building with haste.

"Sir, we need to evacuate immediately. Those Empire, they have pierced Gaia!"

"What?!"

"Let's move, Elsword. We can ask them later."

Mio helped Elsword got up with the hand of a squad member.

"VIP is secured. I repeat, VIP is secured. We're moving him out."

"Squad 10, this is Squad 6. APC is waiting! We're covering fire while you move VIP, make haste!"

The whole team is heading out the hospital during the chaos of other patients. They were also evacuated by other squads and exitted to the APCs waiting for them. Once loaded, they rolled their wheels and ran away under the rain of metal bullets.

"1 hour ago, we received emergency call from frontline defense Empire breached through. We were unable to act soon for counter meassure and had no choice but to evacuate civillians out first. The Queen has ordered us retreat and enhance defense against waves of attacks."

"What happened to Welkin and team 7?!" Elsword asked.

"We lost their contact 4 hours ago and still no response from them! She sent the Great Pride as their reinforcement but still no response!"

"Damn it!"

"Elsword, we need to get back to armory. Isara has done the prototype skeleton suit she created. It could be our last choice." Mio suggested.

"Agree. This must end now."

APC then arrived at the entrance of defense. Squad 10 carried him to armory where Isara stored weapons. They put Elsword on seat and off to defend while Mio went and brought the suit for him, attached on and made it activate. The suit's mechanism worked and gave addition strength and support to help Elsword stand up on his own.

Mio gave Elsword a rifle and a handgun.

"I stay here and guide our men. Go and give them help."

"Copy."

Elsword ran out with hope that he could stop them.

Yuu-chan: Nothing important except i will spend some time writing the second story as well, since i let it off for long time and refresh my mind. School will start again on March 2nd after month of 'New Year Holiday' thanks to certain virus.
